  1. I've been on Team Line (since Tammy left) for a while, because I totally like her as a person, and I think she really showed tremendous improvement in her cooking - the cooking itself, as well as her plating, clearly evolved. I liked David, too, and think he is an excellent cook who deserved to win, but I didn't see all that much improvement in his cooking, because he was so good to start with. I thought Line made a HUGE mistake with her "magical forest" - it was so gimmicky to me, didn't look good to eat and really diluted her attention from the rest of the plate. I think if she had picked something else for the main course, she might have won. Did they really have separate cheering sections for Line and David?
  2. I never thought I would say it, but I really agreed with Lori about the luggage guy, That was an INSANE amount (half a million) to invest in a product that he has an emotional connection with, but really isn't well-thought out. I compared it to the SImple Sugar person - she's undertaking a new product line for men, but is investing only $15,000 in it.
  3. I'm sorry, but tonight's game was the worst ever. Boring, unimpressive contestants. I was amazed that 2 of the 3 did not get FJ - which was so amazingly easy I thought I must be missing something. I can't even keep track of the TSs - one that really stood out was "savant" (category, the only vowel was a). Ugh. I am the first to recognize that it's easy to sit here and come up with the right answers, but that game was awful.
  4. Sorry, I can't remember what was on the chip. I was planning to rewatch anyway, so this is a nice excuse. I'm doing it for you! I can't believe how much I like the show. The only thing that doesn't work for me - the book(s) necessarily did a better job of explaining Miller's obsession with Julie, which made his actions much more logical.
  5. I'm glad I Dvr'd this, I would never have made it through the first part. I don't know whether to give it a thumbs down or up. The Grace and LAce segment was INTERMINABLE and oh, so sobby, Yes, I'm very sorry when people suffer tragedies, but I really don't like having it be part of an extended commercial. On the other hand, Matt Reed must be the nicest person to EVER appear on Shark Tank. I'm not in a position to host a hive myself, but i will probably check his website and see if there is something I can buy, just to keep him in business. Yeah, that was some tense negotiating about the scrub daddy material.
  6. Shapeshifter, thanks for your explanation of the breakfast scene. That makes so much more sense. I still just couldn't get interested in the show, not really sure why.
  7. I liked it lot more than I thought I would. Overall, I thought it was well-acted and well-written. I don't know how realistic it all is, but I was interested in almost all of it. I was creeped out by Bobby's family dynamics and the way they treated their puppy, and I thought the way the episode book-ended Paul G.'s sexual interludes produced a ton of character development.
  8. I liked it. I'm not familiar with any of the actors, but I thought they were all pretty good. It was interesting, without being totally cliche, which I especially appreciate after watching "Colony." The only questionable character for me is the FBI's sister (Helen?) who really is boring. I assume the granddaughter will figure it out, which will be awesome when she becomes grand-dad's partner. I don't think Jimmy and Mary will hook up for quite a while, until the show needs a bump, since he's got the prostitute girlfriend. I didn't get the super strength thing, unless it's a plot device to ensure that the twins and Jimmy stay connected
  9. Thank you,USA, for making this available. Now I know not to waste my time watching. I apologize to anyone who likes it, but it just did not work for me, although I very much like a number of the actors in it, as well as the central idea. It started off on a bad note for me, with Josh being such a jerk to his kids - he doesn't allow his teenage son to have a second egg, but he pushes 2 eggs on the young daughter, and when she refuses, he goes into a whole "unborn chicken" riff. I guess that shows that he is immature and a bad parent? Or, am I just missing something? Some foundation SL would have been useful, although it was pretty clear that LA is under occupation. I wasn't sure how the wall works - is it around LA? Santa Monica? What's the exclusion zone? Thanks to Exposition Heloise, we know that the "weak" are being refused medical treatment, which is bad, but on the other hand, there is no longer horrendous traffic in LA and more people are biking, which is good. I'm kind of surprised I didn't like it enough to even watch a few more episodes, because (1) I like scifi (ha, I started to write "syfy"); (2) I have low expectations; and (3) I'm a huge Peter Jacobson fan. I even like WD Lori, but not enough.
  10. Remember the Food Safe, the container with a timer? I was given one for Christmas (I guess my mindless snacking/lack of will power is pretty obvious), and I have to admit that I like it a lot. It's sturdy and well-designed, andmy husband established that even if the batteries are removed, the timer still won't release the lock until the time is up. Right now, it has the rest of our Christmas cookies in it, on a 4-hour interval. This really was a Shark tank holiday season for us - I got a Lumino (the light that opens like a book) for my birthday a few weeks ago,and I gave those RFD-blocking cards as stocking gifts (I know they really aren't all that effective, but they were inexpensive and everybody liked them). I picked up a scrub daddy, since I heard so much about them, but I don't understand why you would want to clean anything using cold water.
  11. FInally, Jennifer is gone. That tea challenge was insane. I'm not sure if I liked the tag team approach - it really ratcheted up the stress and intensity, which was interesting to watch, but I really felt for the cooks. I like Line a lot, but she is the absolute worst person at picking team members (for the restaurant takeover). Sabrina and Michael over Christopher and David? Wow. Speaking of restaurant takeovers, I was amazed that the "home cooks" managed to do so well. Those plates looked wonderful. I don't know why they even had the elimination, it was obvious that Michael would be going home rather than Line or Sabrina. The undercooked leg made it easy. although it looked like his gravy was a fail, too. I try not to comment on contestants' appearance or personality, but I really hate Sabrina. I don't think it is a case of editing, she seems smug and arrogant to me. To be fair, though, she was right about the restaurant plating. I had to laugh how taken aback she was when Michael didn't like her gravy.
  12. Ha ha, well said. I admit, I very much like Quinn as a character, mainly because of his Abraham Lincolnesque whiskers.
  13. I don't understand Otto's declaration of love to Carrie, if that's what it was. I thought he, rather coldbloodedly, told Jonas to fire her when she resurfaced. Add me to those who feel that the show will be somewhat compromised if Quinn is not back and active next season. Aside from his eye-candy appeal, he was an interesting character who provided a good contrast with Carrie and the rest of the CIA. Whether Quinn is dead or not, Dar's reputation certainly is. He got played by Allison even worse than Saul did. It looked like they were setting Numan up to be a character for next season - that's ok as long as they don't involve Laura. I totally hate her (the character; the actress, I think, is excellent).
  14. wow, I never expected a Harry Potter/Narnia/Mentalist mashup. I'll keep watching it, and that HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the ridiculously hot roommate.
  15. That was a great episode - I literally sat there watching every minute. I'm glad they didn't take the easy way of having Quinn miraculously blurt out the location, although I'm starting to think Quinn abuse is now a required element every week. Writers: I expect him to be fully functional, or at least recuperating nicely, next week. He's earned it. I'm ready to scream at how easily Allison is pulling the wool over everybody's eyes. I sincerely hope that our real-life intelligence services are more competent. Sarah B: LOVE your recaps, especially the captions and such literary lyricism as: Thanks!
  16. That was kind of a strange episode; I wonder about the editing. Mark turned down the deodorant young women (ha ha, I almost said "girls") because they were not "self 'aware" - but as far as i remember, nobody mentioned their returning customer rate, which would either support or disprove their belief in their product. In any event, I had to laugh when Lori was presenting herself as such an accommodating partner (with majority control!) - ask the Bantam Bagel folks how easy she was to work with. I figured Kevin was desperate to make a deal, any deal, when he offered the tree light guy a deal, but then I thought about it some more. That guy did not seem to me to be any type of entrepreneur at all - he has one (highly unnecessary and hugely expensive product), with no ideas about how to expand his product line other than by adding music. Maybe its us, but there is NO WAY IN THE WORLD we would spend $500 for some X-mas tree lights, even if you can control them through an app, rather than the remote the programmable ones usually come with. I also thought they were ugly, and unimaginative lights. If he had presented it as a lighting product for events, on the other hand, it might have made more sense to me. Perhaps that was what Kevin had in mind (adding lights to his wedding packages). The only one of the Daymond products I remember at all is the Bomba socks, and that's only because (I think) they were a recent update, and I checked out the socks as a possible X-mas gift for my husband. They seemed nice, but too expensive. I have no idea what the other ones were, and I'm a pretty regular watcher.
  17. Ugh, I can't believe all the kudos Jennifer got in the seafood mousse challenge! It was her own fault she forgot the eggs, and if it hadn't been for judge Michael calming her down, she would have completely melted down. I almost feel that she got an unfair advantage, since, as far as I'm concerned, she should have had to deal with her mistake herself. I was very sorry to see Jon go, he seems like such a likable guy who was able to move past the grill master role. Not as sorry as I was to see Cody's smirk back, though.
  18. wow,I totally didn't see Charlie turning to the dark side like that. Thanks, Abby. I'm glad someone is finally onto Meeks, and I'm glad it is someone smart, who just was recruited into the CIA.
  19. Wow, this really is dreadful. Mary is her usual wonderful self, and the other judge (John? Johnny?) is ok, but the rest, ugh. I understand the difficulty they had in casting good bakers, but it is so apparent that Lauren is just miles ahead of the other contestants that there is no drama whatsoever. It's even worse that the show is trying to create competition, such as by having Ainslee win the tiramisu challenge. There is no way her cake was better than Laurens (although I recognize that I am saying this without the benefits of tasting). Speaking of Lauren: her French hens were adorable. I normally hate to say negative things about contestants, because they at least had the courage to take a chance, but I just have to say how totally annoying I find Nicole. She needs to clean up her act (literally), and stop making those exaggerated facial expressions (although maybe she is told to do so, to ramp up the drama). And who - especially a self-described baker - doesn't know what a lady-finger is? That said, they all (even Nicole) seem very pleasant, which doesn't always make good television.
  20. Absolutely, yet I have always found him to be insanely sexy, although I have no idea why. Please don't judge me!
  21. I'm glad - but not surprised - that Quinn made it out alive, although the previews show him going through some more physical agony. Please, writers: Hasn't he suffered enough? Concerning Allison's claims of being Ivan's handler (rather than the other way around), I was going to suggest that Dar watch "the Americans" and talk to Nina. I do like the - to me - more realistic scenario where everyone (Dar, Saul, the director) knows the truth, but it's too embarrassing to admit. Why couldn't Laura have been the Sarin specimen? It would have been more of an impact, using a well-known woman, rather than the beautiful, anonymous man.
  22. I liked this episode a lot, mainly because of the Jessica/TRish relationship (and the great casting of the young girls). But - why didn't Jessica think to retrieve the blue pills once she started reacting EXACTLY the way Simpson said she would? Didn't he just toss them out the window? Anyway, that was just a small quibble. With the exception of Robyn (hate the character, her shrillness, her tunnel vision, her inappropriate/smothering brother love), I liked everything about this. I didn't even notice the absence of Kilgrave, and David T's portrayal of him is one of my favorite things about the show.
  23. I just don't see how the knitted handbag operation is even remotely invest-able. Sure, it's a great story and yet another example of "doing good," but how in the world is it scalable without loss of quality control? I know the woman said she had other retirement/nursing homes lined up, but given that each purlette (and purl guy) can produce, at most, 4 a week (and I think that would be extremely variable), I just don't see this as anything other than a very limited niche market circumscribed by production limitations. I subscribe to a website that offers one product a day, along with a conversation with the maker, but I generally end up buying the product elsewhere for a better price. Trunsker: I thought the stewardesses were cute, and I don't know if this is a common feature (I don't travel much), but the weight indicator in the handle seems like a good idea. Glow Recipe: I didn't get the "recipe" part of the name, but those young women seemed extremely savvy to me. They're right, Korean skin care items really are advanced, and I think there is a huge market for such things. And, yes, I am an aging woman myself, so I do spend quite a bit of attention and money to keep my skin looking (and feeling) nice. I would invest becuase the women seemed like they would be very successful.
  24. ugh, I just can't watch anymore. I've decided that about all I can do (other than to not watch completely) is FF directly to FJ. And I'm a pretty die-hard fan, who's been watching and enjoying Jeopardy! for years.
  25. I just watched the episode with Graham and the snail/conch challenge. Wow, I just cannot understand why they sent Tammy home instead of Jennifer. Another mystery to me: Michael, the gap between his smugness and reality. For a guy who presents himself as stylish, he produces some of the clunkiest plates around. His plate fore Graham was awful (was that a waffle?), which I guess is why his food does not get a lot of camera time. While his use of the conch shell to contain his seviche was clever, that fried thing on the other side of the plate was hideous. Edit: I think you're right about David, although I also like Christopher.
