  1. "Sweatpants Monday" should totally be a thing. I liked this episode a lot, mainly because no Carrie/Deva.
  2. Awful game, unimpressive contestants. I can't remember specifics, but some of the TSs were truly jaw dropping (and I say that as a person who in a million years would never qualify to be on the show). I thought the FJ was easy, since what other candy bar had a French name? If they had just said "candy," it would have been difficult.
  3. I'm not sorry that Stalker Vanessa was sent home, but Jen should have been, too. Her seared tuna dish was not even close to being on the same level as the other spoons (even the other worst ones, which merely were seasoned incorrectly, according to the mentors), and she really is clueless. I had to laugh when she kept insisting that AB calling her tuna "refined" was a good thing, when (1) it couldn't have been clearer that "refined" was not what was being requested, and (2) he doesn't like refined. What a contrast to Gabe, who is smart enough to understand that refinement and precision are secondary to taste and texture. Also, shouldn't she know how to use a pressure cooker by now? I can't believe that the testing at this point is "blind," as it must be totally obvious (for example) who presented that simplistic tuna spoon. And, since I'm in a venting mood (sorry), if 3 contestants get red stars, why not have them all in the taste off? I know that might weaken the personal combat aspect of it and allow less dramatic manipulation, but it just makes more sense to me. Poor Eric - getting guidance during the taste-off from Ben, while Vanessa had both Gabe AND Tristen helping her.
  4. I really like the Alaskan glacial mud. I have to admit I really was impressed by the young woman and her story. I was surprised she didn't get a deal.
  5. I know that the episodes of Carrie acting like a competent intelligence officer were too good to last. Now that Quinn is a dead man walking and Lockhart is on his way out, the only characters I care to watch are Dar Adal and Saul.
  6. I understand television is a visual medium, and Jen is a somewhat attractive woman who is providing drama, which I have to assume is why she is still on the show. It certainly isn't because she's any kind of decent cook - I don't think she's cooked even one dish without assistance. She doesn't know what a saucepan is? Come on! Not sending the required number of spoon ups should have been an automatic disqualifer. What bugged me even more was her arrogance. Ignorance + arrogance makes for good tv, I guesss. Much as I would love to have some chocolate gingerbread (and that does evoke holiday eating for me), I agree that it's pretty obvious that picking a dessert was bad strategy. Was Nigella's decision the reason why PK had to stick with a dessert in the solo round? Making a poached pear (no matter how well done) just didn't seem to be on the same level of complexity as the whole dinner on a spoon that everyone else was doing. Although, I guess staying in the middle of the pack and avoiding elimination is probably a good strategy for her at this point. Nigella may have a good palate, but she is the world's worst mentor.
  7. The terrible acting on the part of the Solanos really diminished the impact of the conclusion.
  8. I just love Matt Ryan (and his accent!) in this show - casting him was brilliant. I didn't see the movie, so to me, he is perfect as Constantine. I thought this was a very good episode, with the pacing just right. I liked the fallen angel, the way it became clear that it was not a divine, but a satanic power that was effecting the miracles. And, on a shallow level (what can I say), I enjoyed the male model eye candy.
  9. So true! All it would have taken for me to like the character would have been one sentence to the effect that, "Trouble was an appropriate name when I was on the street, but I'm not anymore and would like to be known as Theresa." That would have emphasized the character growth. Otherwise, except for the possible J baby drama, I liked the episode, especially for the reminder that not all Wesen species are troublesome. I also liked Hank taking the fruitcake.
  10. I agree about Zipz being a terrible name for a glass of wine. I saw that Amazon has a similar product, Vino2Go Set of 2 Double Wall Insulated Wine Tumblers Merlot and Verde Slide Tops Drink Lid 10 oz., for a price of $10.77 (list $25.98), which seems about right. Of course, I am assuming that does not include the wine, which makes it much less of an impulse items than the one on Shark Tank. None of the items was tempting to me.
  11. I probably am not remembering this correctly, but wasn't the cut fence in Broadchurch related to the gas stealing?
  12. I don't understand Nigella at all. The mac and cheese was a great choice, but why did she have to pick the fried ball version? The others must have been really bad.
  13. That scene in the garage with Beth and Mark was just painful - not in the way intended by the writers but just because of the sheer awful acting. Terrible casting on this show, without reference to Broadchurch. It looks to me like its setting up to be Tom as the killer, with Vince helping with disposal of the body. If Vince got the "Danny" tattoo out of guilt, this makes sense to me. Otherwise, if Vince were so fond of Danny, then why would he cover up his killing?
  14. I have no idea why I am watching this - the parents are the most unsympathetic characters ever, Mark is skeezy, I don't buy for a minute that Emily (even if she is brain washed or something) would marry a man who is the living embodiment of the worst experience of her life. I'm tired ofTony being intense, broody and/or drunk. I don't know how many episodes are left, but there really needs to be some forward movement ASAP. I guess at the end of the episode we're supposed to be amazed that there is "proof" that Olly was in the house, but I was already at that point after seeing the picture.
  15. I wish I could "like" this a hundred times.
  16. i don't know why I've kind of lost interest in this- it's not that any of my favorites have gone home. I guess I just don't care about any of the contestants or their challenges. Maybe the show needs a better villain.
  17. What a pleasant game! Three very nice contestants, who applauded each other, were fairly knowledgeable and didn't jump around the board! Even their stories were not bad. FJ: I don't know if the timing works out, but my guess was ABBA (ha ha, I obviously didn't read the answer very well. Wong decade, wrong country - at least they were a musical group)
  18. I guess I have a different take toward the Kitchen Safe - I am sorry to admit that I am a "mindless" kind of snacker, and if it something is there (and it usually is, thanks to my son and husband), I'll have some chips/cookies/whatever. Yes, I do try to limit what's in the house, and to put what we have on a top shelf (I am short), but I really don't have a lot of will power. I do need something that will make me think, just for a minute, and that is how I see the value of the kitchen safe type of product. Just having to decide if its worth the effort is usually enough to give me time to recollect myself. I think the price would dissuade me from buying it, though.
  19. Fios also has the second eipsode available. I have to admit, that I like the show more than I thought I would. I hope they don't drag things out, though.
  20. wow, what a great episode. Poor Saul - I really thought that he was going to go through with it, since I figured its time for Mandy P. to leave the show. I can't believe how much I like Lockhart now - I would totally vote for him, for president or dictator.
  21. Geez, all those servants and no lady's maid to do Elizabeth's hair? I don't know who was making the costuming decisions, but her plainness of dress, and especially her extremely modest wedding ring, just aren't remotely credible. I've liked both Anna Maxwell Martin and Matthew Rhys in other shows (Bletchley Circle and the Americans, respectively), but they are so miscast here that I almost didn't bother watching the episode. Everybody else seems fine, although I think of Superintendent Innocent every time I see Mrs. Bennett.
  22. I can't root for either of these two contestants - Eric talks too much, the woman keeps talking about how "unique" her seafood lasagna is - well, I hate to break it to her, but I've had (and made) seafood lasagna for years.
