  1. I wonder how Jill is adjusting to cooking for two people vs the army she normally had to help prepare food for.
  2. Do you mean that Rue's movie death bothered you? As in, the book did it justice but the movie did not? Just clarifying!
  3. I really hope the trailer that comes out tomorrow at Comic Con leaks online, because I am itching to see some footage now, after seeing those great teasers with Snow, Peeta and Johanna. When THG came out, I was pretty pleased with it--I thought they mostly got it right. But when CF came out, I was really happy! I thought they did a great job on CF, so much so that I wish they could go back and redo THG. But, it is what it is. I'm really looking forward to Mockingjay, especially for Peeta's transformation. There are a few moments from the book that are my absolute favorites that I'm interested in seeing how they come alive on screen: The moment when Katniss and Haymitch face off after the meeting with the random people from 12 and 13. Everyone leaves and Katniss says that she can't believe he didn't rescue Peeta and he says, "I can't believe you let him out of your sight..." The second moment I love is again between Katniss and Haymitch, when they are above ground in 13, filming a propo and she can't get it together because all she can think about is how bad Peeta is doing, and Haymitch is the one who comforts her. And then finally, near the end, when Katniss is back in 12 and Buttercup reappears and she loses it, crying for Prim. It's so gut-wrenching. I suspect they will split the movie either when Peeta returns (although that would make for a pretty dull part 1) or when she gets shot in district 2. Him choking her or her getting shot would make for a dramatic cut off point. Part of me wishes we were getting just one long movie a la Return of the King, but since that's not happening I hope that they will use the time in Mockingjay 1 & 2 to add in some good scenes that help develop the story, like they did with the additional Snow scenes in Catching Fire. Only 4 months to go!
  4. I was just reading his (very, very lengthy) story on his website and saw this: You don't date your mom and sisters!
  5. I have a problem with grown people who have a website called "David loves Priscilla". There's also some permutation of that on their license plate. Gross.
  6. You would think, given the Duggar's belief system, that they were indeed engaged. Otherwise, their nonstop couple-y selfies would look bad. And there's that one group of photos that sure do look like engagement photos. Why is it ok for them to be so close and touchy for pictures if they are only courting? And wouldn't carrying out a courtship in this manner (so publicly, so cozy with each other) be a big no-no? Maybe they just want to wait and not steal any of Jill's thunder? The cynic in me says they want to wait so they can film it all and keep the show going.
  7. I'm just going to chime in here to say that Amber is an annoying twat. OMFG.I can't imagine having her as a mother/ Or as a friend. She would require more energy than I have to give. I'm curious as to what the cosmetics bill is for these women. I've seen less make up on a drag queen.
  8. I had the horrible thought yesterday...what if JimBoob and J'Chelle have done things to ensure Jana doesn't marry in an effort to keep her at the house? Like, block her from any potential courtships. Maybe there have been guys who have been interested but they insist no one suitable has inquired?
  9. Where do hate watch movies fit in? I wasn't sure if I should start another topic or if it fits in here? At any rate---the Twilight movies were on this weekend so I felt compelled to watch them. Tonight my 12 year old son sat and watched some of the movies with me. He said he couldn't not watch. He just came out of his room to ask me a question and I told him to not think about it too hard because they are stupid movies based on stupid books and that he'll just hurt his brain trying to make sense of it all. I can't be the only person who hate watches movies?
  10. I just saw a Mr. Sketch (the markers) commercial that had a blueberry farting. I just. I don't know. Blueberries don't fart!
  11. I would venture to guess that he believes it because that's what he has been taught over the years.
  12. After rewatching the Josh/Anna engagement episodes (and the ones that came before that), I am now convinced that Jana is the one. She's going to be the one that breaks free, she just looks like she's waiting for the right opportunity. She and JD are biding their time. Maybe they are crafting a secret plan to escape together because I'm sure JD wants to get the hell out of dodge, based on the expressions on his face. They both look like they are over it.
  13. @floridamom I cosign your whole post. Your comment about Anna in particular has me laughing because I just watched the engagement episode and every time they showed Anna looking at Josh, it was like she was panting and couldn't even stand up straight. I think the mere idea of being THAT CLOSE to just being able to kiss is overwhelming to these kids. And the hand holding...that right there is emblematic of the problem of not allowing normal human interaction during courtship. Let them hug! Let them kiss! Because OMG, by the time they are allowed to actually touch someone (even just hands) they can barely stand it! There were so many moments in those episodes where you know without doubt what they were wishing and hoping they could go off and do if someone would just let them. You are so right about the 'protecting their hearts' being a bunch of BS. At the mere idea of a potential courtship, they are gone. And the thing is, the silly crush-like behavior is because they aren't allowed to have normal human interactions and relationships. If I were 24 and hadn't even kissed someone, let alone touched them, I'd probably find nearly anyone attractive enough to want to marry just so I could get some action! LOL
  14. I think I have figured out what it is about the Duggars that annoys me the most...I just binge watched a few episodes (from when they announced the next one on the Today show and Josh's engagement) as well as a few specials..and the thing that annoys me is that they don't have a single interesting thing to say about anything. Just "Hey! Look! We are a big family, isn't that neat?"
  15. I guess I never really paid much attention to the Duggars because I just watched two specials on YouTube (I think this was before TLC?) no idea, really--but those LHOTP dresses the girls had to wear? Good god! What a crime against fashion. Offensively bad. And all the god damn polo shirts! Gawd. Their fashion has improved quite a bit, thankfully (though there is a long way to go).
  16. I'd really love to know what they thought of Dolly's knockers, given that they are completely unavoidable. Do you think the boys were secretly like "HOLY SHIT!" I think even JimBoob was having difficulty maintaining eye contact. Then there's the part where Dolly shimmies her way into the middle of the clan for the photo--I felt like Anna was going to die of embarrassment. Loved every second of it! @mbutterfly There's some footage on YouTube of the episode--I don't know if it's ok to link or not, but if you search you can probably find it. I found 3 videos containing segments of the episode.
  17. I'm sorry, but if you have to pray to your chosen deity about whether or not to hold hands or how to fucking hug a person (Side hug? Front hug? What if I get a boner?!) , you've got issues. It's beyond over the top. Or, maybe I'm just cranky today?
  18. I don't know a thing about the Bates Family, but I was reading here and looked at their website. I don't know who wrote the bios of each of the kids, but it seems like the kids have distinct personalities and interests, the latter of which I can't say the same for the Duggars. It seems like the Bateses (did I do that right?) let their children develop those characteristics. (Unlike the Duggars)
  19. I looked through previous topics, but didn't see a similar thread but if one exists, please point me in the right direction. I keep seeing the trailer for Lucy, a movie that starts Scarlet Johannson. I didn't think it would be possible for me to dislike her even more than I currently do, but after seeing her in that trailer I'm having trouble controlling my eye rolls. She uses 100% of her brain! Puh-leeze.
  20. If Lenny wins, I suspect he'll be the host of some over the top non-cooking show on the Food Network. No way is he going to get a cooking show. It's one thing to be a character (Guy) it's another to be a caricature (which is just an embarrassment to the network). I know arguments could be made about Guy, too but annoying as he is, he has a little credibility to go with his showmanship.
  21. Apocalypse Now era Martin Sheen, Tom Hiddleston (he's just so damn cute!), I've long been a fangirl of Robert Downey Jr., too. In fact, I still have an article about him that I tore out of a 1987 (I think) issue of Sassy Magazine. He's long been my imaginary boyfriend. Dermot Mulroney is another one I have a crush on.
  22. Your original post made me chuckle. I figured you were joking around! I was once shopping in a vintage store in Cleveland when I realized that Kathy Kinney (Mimi from Drew Carey show) was also shopping there. I didn't talk to her because beyond saying "Hello! I know who you are!" there's not much else to say! LOL I used to work at a restaurant and one night Monica Potter came in. I didn't wait on her, but the owner chatted with her and said she was really nice. She seemed pleasant enough, especially considering the hostess had seater her and her companion at the crappiest/smallest table in the restaurant). I recently discovered that I went to the same high school with her younger sister--I only went to that high school for one year and was not friends with her sister--it was a big high school. At yet another former job at a record store (in the 90s, when such things still existed), I sold a stack of records to Sean Lennon. On one hand, I'm such a fan girl whenever I see someone famous, I want to say hello and take a picture, but on the other hand if I was famous, it would freak me out to have people come up to me so it makes me not want to do or say anything.
  23. What I find most amusing about the Duggars is that they are basically famous for their sex lives, much like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. Hardly modest, right? LOL
