  1. I agree! I think if they had a few basic tools it would make for more interesting viewing. These people are just sitting around eating a bug every now and then (or a parrot head).
  2. I'm sure this has been mentioned, I've read some of this thread but not all of it, but those god damn smoothie kabobbles (or whatever the hell they are) commercials. Those two kids in the elevator with the platypus are DUMB (and my 12 year old son gets so annoyed--he insists that kids that age would know what a platypus looks like). Anyway, my irrational hatred reaches a fever pitch when the girl says something like "ooooh, look at his cute waddle." in that stupid voice. UGH! Shut up! The predecessor to this commercial wasn't much better--that dumb reporter is annoying as hell. Editing to add, I also can't deal with the Fiat commercials of late. They are trying really hard to be weird in an effort to be viral and they just look stupid.
  3. The difference between killing an animal to eat it and eating eggs is that eggs are simply unfertilized. No reason to feel sad about eating them. Watching them kill those baby birds made me sad, which is stupid because I eat meat. I guess I just can't handle it when it's not in plastic wrap on a styrofoam tray. I would never last as a hunter-gatherer. Last night my husband and I were flipping channels and managed to watch not one, but two episodes of this show (never saw it before). We caught this episode and the Bolivia one with the witch and the know-it-all. This show seems to have a whole lot of boring--the fact that they can skip several days in the editing and are left with the boring stuff that they actually show makes me wonder how much more insanely boring the stuff is that didn't make the cut. It doesn't seem like anyone is willing to go to great lengths to actually survive their circumstances--they just kind of eat what little food they can to get them through till the end. And I really don't get what is to be gained by the participants being naked. I feel sorry for the ladies...who wants to have a view of a man's dangling junk? That's not attractive on anyone.
  4. Possible when both parties are at the same school, but much harder when one is away and the other is 'back home', don't you think? At any rate, Ben seems like a douchey famewhore. But I also think those two want to get it on something fierce, whether they get married or not! I think they both wish they could sin for just one day.
  5. For a Duggar, she's practically naked, between the top and her knees showing. OMG, I can see her neck, too! *sky is falling!*
  6. I don't mind the shoe choices for the bridesmaids. At my wedding, I wore saddle shoes and at my prom 22 years ago, I wore converse hi tops with my prom dress so I can't be too judgey about the shoe choices others make! :) I, for one, can't wait to see how their relationship shakes out as time goes on. I feel like it's possible for Jill and Derrick to do things a little bit different, just given the fact that he isn't a sheltered person. He would probably let Jill decide about wearing pants and things like that.
  7. I think people don't really watch this show for the recipes--it's more for the perceived lifestyle. Or to get a glimpse of Ree's multi-thousand dollar digital camera. Which she uses to take twenty pictures of chopping an onion for her blog. And every time she uses an onion in a recipe, you are treated to twenty pictures of how to chop an onion. Ugh. Makes me crazy. I don't begrudge a person finding a way to package themselves and make a living. The one thing I'd like to see end in all these cooking shows and blogs is the foodgasm-ing. Every time someone tastes a bite of their own food, it's the best thing ever. Eyes roll up in their head, head tilts back, cue the "mmmmmmm" noises. I have to laugh because one of my kids was eating something the other day and they were carrying on like that and I was like "What are you doing?" and he said "I'm eating like they do on tv!" LOL--I think my kids watch too much food network and see too many food ads.
  8. Maybe Jessa thinks its a foregone conclusion that she is going to marry this guy. Do these people ever not marry the person they are courting? Seems like the Duggars wouldn't allow them to court unless they were very sure a marriage was going to happen. Wouldn't it be whore-y of a girl to court different guys?
  9. Right? First kisses are hard enough without the entire world watching!
  10. I was thinking about this today--my kids are 12 and 9 and they are very affectionate, asking for hugs frequently during the day. Kisses too! I can't imagine not allowing hugs and kisses! Physical contact is important to human development--every time I see these people do their goofy side hug, they all look uncomfortable with it. I was watching some episode where Michelle was talking about the side hugs (insert eye roll) and there was a clip of Michelle and Boob in what looked like a church. The woman in the pew/row behind them was hugging them and you could see Michelle try to shift it to a side hug, but it wasn't working. LOL!
  11. Ugh. There was never a more appropriate nickname for a person than Smuggar.
  12. I think I have a new respect for him after watching that. Good to know he seems to have as much contempt for the hot mess that was Twilight like everybody else!
  13. I can't hate on Bridesmaids. I thought the friendship stuff between Annie and Lillian felt really true to life. There are a couple of moments in that movie that I feel a pang of understanding of what Annie is going through. I think The Hangover is my "eh, whatever" movie. By the time I saw it, it was on DVD and had heard ad nauseum about how funny it was...and then I just didn't think it was that great. I'm sure if I had seen it when it came out and in a theater I would have had slightly different perspective of it. Incidentally, I saw Bridesmaids in a crowded theater and the entire crowd was laughing like crazy. There's something to that!
  14. How would she possibly know the difference between a good or bad kiss? Any kiss would probably make her weak in the knees, given her lack of experience. RE: trumpet playing, maybe that gave him strong lips?
  15. Much to my dismay, my children wanted to rewatch this episode. I tried to block it out. They (being 9 and 12) thought it was funny. I still hated it on second viewing. Sidebar: Does Ruben kind of resemble Jake Gyllenhal or is that just my little fantasy? (He an roll his r's in my ear all day long) I also think that Christopher resembles Dave Foley a bit.
  16. This episode was awful. So awful from start to finish. Cringeworthy. This challenge has nothing to do with any of these people's ability to host a show. Those "viral" videos were DUMB.
  17. Each time I see a new picture of them, I can't snark on the happy couple. (I reserve the right to change my mind once the cameras roll on any nonsense they put out there). They (he especially) look so happy. I'm a sucker for a happy couple. @Ivy26 can you imagine how wonderful it will be for her to be on her own?! The quiet, the privacy...she's not going to know what to make of it all.
  18. He's almost touching her BOOB! Seriously, though, that's a cute picture. Anyone who has ever had a receiving line in a normal wedding can imagine how god awful it must have been for them to greet 2000 guests (even if was half the amount that greeted them, it would be hell).
  19. I'm going to have to visit that thread too. I think my list of stupid movies could go in that thread. Except Road House. Road House is definitely a stupid movie. I love That Thing You Do--it's one of my all time favorites! Such a fun movie. And my husband appreciates that they got the period details right with the instruments/amps. He's always annoyed when he can pick out anachronistic musical equipment.
  20. But lubricant would make it feel good, and they aren't allowed to have sex for pleasure! LOL I think Jill's dress is really pretty, and I think they make a nice looking couple--they seem to have a genuine affection for each other from the little I've seen of them. Even though she is giggly and he is nervous on camera, I think it would be terribly awkward to be going through all that on camera.
  21. I love that one! I was a huge fan of gymnastics back in the 80s, and I thought Mitch Gaylord was the dreamiest of the dreamy, so you know this movie is high on my list! Oh and I'm not at all embarrassed to admit that I tried really hard to make my bangs look like hers. No small feat considering I had super curly hair!
  22. I hope that his mom is ok, from the little bit we saw of her on the show she seems like a really sweet person. I'd hate for her to miss her son's wedding! Hopefully she didn't go to the rehearsal so she could save up her energy for the big day. Watching that video on the People website you know those two are like "We just can't wait to bang. Are we there yet?"
  23. All you have to do is wear modest clothing and you could blend right in! I'm surprised the girls haven't been approached to do a modest clothing line yet! They are really missing out on some opportunities, here! And, why aren't they live streaming this wedding?
  24. I hear ya--I was 21 myself, so I'm not disparaging those who wait! Oh, to be a fly on the wall at this wedding today!
