  1. I wonder if Benessa will find the time to write thank you notes to those people who sent gifts. I'm guessing...no. I am not surprised that people are sending gifts...this is just one giant gift grab. What assholes.
  2. My favorite thing from the flashback episodes is the one where Josh and Anna go to the doctor for the first appointment and Anna mentions she's having trouble swallowing vitamins and Josh says something about how Anna is a pro at swallowing. Bahahaha!
  3. I'm willing to bet that the photographer/writer made her do that.
  4. Plus the fact that they have an industrial dishwasher, like a restaurant would have so it takes about 30 seconds to load the rack and then just a few minutes for the wash cycle. It probably would take them less time to wash their dishes for a family of 20 in their restaurant dishwasher than it does for me to hand wash the dishes for my family of 4 (we don't have a dishwasher! Boo!)
  5. Oh holy hell...I saw the episode where Jim Bob's dad died...but not before JB had to wheel him out for his birthday. Based one the little I saw of his dad in previous episodes, you know that he had to have been pissed about being filmed like this. That poor man. That episode was SO uncomfortable! Why would they make a production out of his father's frail health and make it into an episode? You guys are not exaggerating about the Duggars exploiting anything and everything they can. What assholes.
  6. They have hushed, hurried conversations in the rare moments they can steal away from the rest of the bunch. He promises to save her from this life, let her go to college and become the free woman she's meant to be. But there's a complication...Jana must bring Joy Anna, so their escape plan is just a little more complicated and thus, it will take more time to plan. It's like a soap opera! Days of Our Fundie Life!
  7. I would like to rescue Joy Anna. I think she wants to break free. She has a look on her face like she is so over this. Maybe Joy Anna and Jana are going to make a break for it. Bin seems dumb as can be. It's painful to watch him talk...it's like his brain can't quite keep up. I feel like Boob saw that a wedding was inevitable so he moved Bin closer so he could groom him. He doesn't want a dumbass who can't support his daughter. Derrick's mom seems like a really lovely person. You can tell how much she means to Derrick, which is interesting compared with how the Duggar kids talk about/to their mom. There's nothing there.
  8. At some point during the Mother's Day brunch, Bin said that he loved Jessa. So let me get this straight. Professing LOVE to someone is totally OK, but hand holding, kissing or being alone with a person of the opposite sex is not. I've only told two guys "I love you" in my life, but I can tell you that I have kissed many more. Furthermore, how can you profess to love someone when you've never had a private conversation with them? The mind boggles at their logic.
  9. "And I delivered every one of them!" Every time I hear that in the opening credits of the show...I want to punch her!
  10. Totally agree--for someone as obsessed as she is with having children you would think she could feign interest in acting like she cares about them. She's a lunatic.
  11. My kids were taught cursive (12 and 9 years old). They go to a Montessori school, though. I'm not sure what the public schools around here do. Learning cursive helped cure my 9 year old of his mirror writing and other issues with printing. I'm sure he would have eventually gotten his printing correct if he hadn't learned cursive, but learning cursive definitely helped him progress faster. I bet they wouldn't even be allowed to have real friendships, even with people like the Bates girls. Never mind the fact that since they aren't allowed to develop socially, they wouldn't even know how to act like a friend. They only know how to take care of babies and pack for trips and plaster smiles on their faces.
  12. Anna probably wants the life because it is her only chance at having any relevance as a human being. If they fade into obscurity (not if, when) no one will give a shit about them and whatever number of kids they have. But if she keeps towing the line and popping out kids then maybe someone will find her interesting enough to keep them "famous". I imagine the alternative life of relative obscurity when this show ends is very unappealing. It will just be her, Josh and their gaggle of kids. No fun/interesting trips, no cameras, no attention. No one will pay poor Anna the least bit of attention. My husband used to be in a band with a guy who was famous-like in the 70s. He told my husband that once you have a taste of fame, you spend the rest of your life chasing that feeling. I suspect even for fundie baby makers it isn't much different.
  13. I can't say I blame her. I doubt sex with Bin is going to be all that amazing. LOL He will probably be pawing at her 24/7 and she's going to be rolling her eyes all the time.
  14. After watching the episode where Jill and Jana get their wisdom teeth out, how in the hell is Jill going to deal with the pain of childbirth? She was so scared of the pain and needles for the anesthesia. That's nothing compared to the pain of childbirth, especially an unmedicated birth!
  15. It's not bad that they filmed it--because when they were filming, they didn't know what was going to happen. (I'm referring to the appointment itself). But then to film their kids as they found out? OMFG! That was bullshit. And it was wrong of them to air it. They could have very easily made an episode where they talked about what happened without showing everything. No one would have forced them to show that footage. As far as the kids schooling goes, I'm not against alternative methods of learning. There are a multitude of ways for children to learn academic skills without sitting down with a book to explain it all. But for the Duggars, there is no need to learn science, because they don't believe in it. To them, a cake doesn't rise because it has leavening and the ingredients + heat make a chemical reaction. To the Duggars, the cake rises because God wanted it to. To them, that's the only reason anything happens--it's because it was the Lord's will. 2+2=4 because GOD SAID SO.
  16. There will come a day when Derrick realizes that Jill isn't teaching their kids anything that's actually academic (beyond basic reading, writing and mathematics). Michelle managed to get through high school but you know there's no way she taught her kids high school level academics because she was too busy having babies and making her kids take care of them. So, since the only think Jill has learned the last ten years is how to take care of babies, she doesn't have the skills to teach her own kids anything beyond the basics. I see a trickle down of less educated offspring with each subsequent generation if they decide to keep this way of life up.
  17. I just had a terrible thought. Maybe Jill is the next Michelle. Derick seems normal enough, but will be the type of guy Jim Bob is--so in love with his wife that he'll do whatever she says and go along with all the kooky stuff. I shudder to think...
  18. Loved it. I watched the video of the girls talking about what they want, and just have to say to Jill: STFU--Maybe what God is trying to teach Jinger with her desire to live in a city is to RUN LIKE HELL and that it's totally ok and normal to not want what your sisters want. Jill's comment made me want to smack her upside the head. Brainwashed!
  19. I was floored by the hotel room configurations that the Bateses had for their trip that was shown in the episode I saw this morning. Girls in one room, boys in another and then mom and dad took some of the little ones while a couple of the older girls took the others. See that, Michelle? Mom and dad look after the little ones, you know...like parents do?
  20. I'm sure we'll get another "big" announcement of twins in the not-too-distant-future. Maybe right around the time of Jessa's actual wedding? Gotta keep stealing that thunder!
  21. I agree that they are more likable, but the question is, do they want a spin off? Derick has a real job and can take care of his household. They don't seem to be dying to be on tv/famewhore-y. Like they could take it or leave it. Ben is young and dumb, Jessa is young and naive and if they had a show independent of JimBoob and J'Chelle, all kinds of antics could ensue!
  22. He seems like the type who would make her do things just to see what he can get away with as the man of the house, you know? Ugh. He just completely creeps me out.
