  1. Interesting. I thought it might be Carrie Underwood and was excited. Oh, well. I like Reba and I like Niall. I like the other two as singers, just not as TV so much. A shame Reba and Kelly aren't on at the same time.
  2. I wasn't that surprised We went. Her second performance had the feeling of a goodbye from her interactions with the judges. She was my favorite this year, but I always felt Iam was the best shot at a good winner this year. I like Megan more every week. Hopefully the two country will divide and Iam will win like the year's Maddie and Just Sam won. I think it didn't happen last year because they had a great contestant in Noah and Leah (the non-country one) wasn't very good either to propel her to the win, at least JMO. Here's hoping Iam wins though, his voice is beautiful. He would probably be my third favorite winner of the ABC years if he managed it, behind Maddie and Noah but ahead of Laine. I was grateful for some song choices that were out-of-the-box last night. I was gritting my teeth in expectation of hearing "How Far I'll Go" and "You've Got a Friend in Me" for the umpteenth time.
  3. Interesting to see Moreno and Weaver again so soon. But good!
  4. ^ I think Sunny is the one that said that? I'm not sure. I don't agree with her that there aren't real independents. Only in some scenarios and related to certain topics might I agree with Sunny that "independents" are really just people who don't want to voice aloud what they actually support. On less divisive topics or figures though, I wouldn't say I agree with that.
  5. Watching today's show is just another reminder of how Alyssa's hiring was an example of the putrefication of the news and media. Having someone from a particular administration on The View to then regularly discuss the head of said administration is disturbing. So it's not surprising to me to see her continually attempt to make sure a critic of her former bosses can't even be heard, because her interests are for the people she worked for first and foremost. And for her to pretend like she gives a shit about "female journalists" simply as an attempt to silence Sunny's criticism of CNN considering all she's endorsed in her past and supports on this show is disgusting.
  6. That was after the first commercial, the part I was referring to was in the first segment. She and Alyssa feel like they're playing roles out of Mean Girls these days. At least it has been enlightening finding out what Sara is really like. Honestly I'd rather have somebody like Abby Huntsman in that seat rather than her these days. She'd be playing "back up" for Alyssa, too, no doubt, but at least she never felt fake and bitter like Sara.
  7. That's weird, but so is Whoopi wearing crocs the past two weeks. Anyway, I agreed with Joy mostly that CNN is a disgrace not for allowing a townhall, but for allowing the audience to be filled like a rally. And I won't feel sorry for Sara next time she gets interrupted by someone or other for the way she and Alyssa ran roughshod over Sunny's turn to speak today. And then she had the gall to look annoyed when Sunny wasn't done speaking at one point--I'm like if you'd STFU and let her speak, asshole, maybe she'd have been done already. Alyssa is vile. Water is wet, what else is new? You could see that crazy glimmer in her eyes today.
  8. The first part of her comments from YouTube: By implication--since he was not put in prison, it was because he was not deemed a "danger to society." And this had to be his past they were talking about even if she didn't say "in the past." It couldn't be the present because he's deceased? I guess since it's a long statement, it could've caused confusion that way, but I don't see how she could've been saying he should have been in prison from that. She was defending him, if anything. I think she was implying that new outlets and figures bringing up his past was an attempt to paint him as having "deserved it" even though she personally sees him as a victim?
  9. I don't think so, other than the winner's songs at the end. It's a shame, I personally would buy a compilation for some of the live performances even if they didn't want to go to the bother of making studio versions anymore.
  10. I don't have the time right now, but maybe someone else can make a transcript of her comments. Sunny can be self-righteous for sure, just not sure that is what she said this time is all. As far as today's show, it was fine. Whoopi going commando is something I didn't need to know though.
  11. I only liked the first two duets--particular Iam's with Oliver--but I agree that duets on this show often bring out something that maybe isn't there normally. The duet Chayce had with Casey was the only good performance he had, imo, other than maybe Disney night. And even going further back, I still remember how shocking the "Falling Away" duet between Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze was back when considering how boring / terrible the show was 95% of the time that season. I think it happens when you have one strong contestant who knows how to harmonize well working with another who's maybe so-so most of the time, the ability of the former helps the latter shine in a way they wouldn't normally and the latter contestant tries harder than they usually do because they're paired with someone that's a little out of their league vocally.
  12. I think she was misheard mostly? At least I didn't interpret her comments as saying the former at all...? From my viewing last night, the part that's being referred to is when she said that if those charged with sentencing him in the past when he had been arrested in his history thought he was a danger to society, they would've put him in prison rather than sending him to a rehab and/or mental facility. I also loved the ending with the teacher who was being honored.
  13. Wow, the results were shocking (in a good way)! Hopefully that continues next week. My picks to go would've been Warren, Colin, and Oliver, and at least two of them went. I'd rather Oliver had survived if one of them was going to. Still, I was shocked because I thought Warren would sail through since he got an early slot and Iam / We got slots in the middle of the show where contestants are more likely to suffer. It would be wonderful if we actually managed to get a top 3 of We, Iam, and Megan--I'd be happy with any of them as the winner (I imagine Megan would have the advantage being the country contestant though). I don't mind Zachariah still being around. He's grown on me a little. He seems like a nice guy and he did alright tonight. I'd like to think he's not a threat as far as winning goes, but who knows with this show's history. Hopefully Colin divides with Zachariah and Megan next week and doesn't make the finale, that would be a relief.
  14. I agree with this. Not quite as bad as the Harry Connick, Jr. seasons or the Kara-Ellen season back on FOX, but easily the worst of the ABC years. Honestly, I think they should have top 5 finales like The Voice does. Not only would that give all the contestants a chance at winning, it also means the viewers would get a touch more time with the contestants in their scheduling since they only have to narrow down to 5 before the finale rather than 3 (or 2). I don't think it would be weird for them to change, since they're already doing finales with 3 people where the show used to only have 2 people in the finale.
  15. Yeah, both their choices last week were clearly sympathy-based, not about contestant potential. Basically: "Hey, you're the two who will get the most joy out of getting to be on a stage--any stage--one more time and since nobody we save makes it long anyway, enjoy!"
  16. Maybe I was just in a good mood, but I felt a little less negative about the top 12 that I did last week. Still... Most of them are just "okay," We and Iam are the only ones delivering great vocals for me. Good Lord, I don't know why these judges are so dumb as to ever put 4 WGWGs or more into the top 20 knowing that the audience will always carry them farther than they deserve--especially when we've had two WGWGs win two years in a row (only one of which was good, and I'm referring to Noah). Ugh. If one of those types is going to derail yet another season, hopefully Oliver will be it. At least he just seems to be himself unlike the one guy trying to be Chris Stapleton and the other one trying to be last season's winner. If I close my eyes when those two are on stage, they're not completely terrible to listen to, it's the gimmicks that get me. We has the speaking voice thing, too, which is unfortunately going to have some of the audience against her which is why I think Iam is probably the only one who might be able to keep this season from ending a crapshow. Tyson... It's funny someone else brought up Simon in regards to his performance because I thought of Simon when watching him, too, only it was thinking how Simon would've raked him over the coals for the way he was dancing and the shirt with all the hearts, lol. The contestant who did "Dancing Queen" sucked every bit of energy out of that song; that isn't a song that should be "mellow"... Very strange choice. I'm reading a lot of hate for Nutsa here, lol, but I found her kind of endearing somehow? Maybe because she owned her OTT-ness and love for diva classics. Admittedly, I do skip most of the auditions and skim through Hollywood episodes, only really start focusing when everyone gets uninterrupted solo performances, there may be things I haven't seen. I think Megan is great at...IDK, resonance with the songs she sings? I wouldn't be mad if she won, although her voice can be grating at times (not because of the way she sings--she doesn't go for notes she can't hit or anything like that--it's just...you know, sometimes you like a voice or you don't). This performance and her one last week were both interesting to me even despite her voice being only so-so for me simply because she connects a great deal with what she's singing.
  17. I wasn't a big fan of Jax, but I thought "Victoria's Secret" was sort of cute even if it ages fast. I'm happy she had success anyway, especially since I think she had some health problems at one time if I'm remembering correctly. I had heard Spence passed away, but I didn't hear the news about Kellie Pickler's husband. Poor Pickler, that's so sad.
  18. Is Calum Scott a country singer? I thought he was pop. I'd first heard him duet with Leona Lewis on "You Are the Reason" before checking out his solo stuff, which all sounded pop to me... Anyway, I also thought Olivia should've made top 12 despite having given a few terrible performances lately. I liked her audition and "I Surrender," but she wasn't great on "Emotions" or "God is a woman." Either way, she was more interesting than 9-10 people that made it. I also liked Hannah's and Mariah's voices somewhat, but I knew they wouldn't make it through. Only Olivia and Matt getting done in so soon surprised me. Hopefully the show plans to have a three- or five-way vote in the finale like they did in their early seasons on ABC (same way that The Voice has), otherwise I don't see this season ending well since they only have two good contestants left this year in We and Iam.
  19. That was a pretty good point Ana made about Haley, pointing out the hypocrisy of leaning into ageism in her own comments about Biden after having criticized Lemon's comments about her barely a month ago. Judy Blume was a great interview. Her comments about book bans back in the '80s versus now and how scary she finds it were pretty effective.
  20. This lot is terrible and the results went exactly how you'd expect for this show. Matt not making top 12 in particular was insane. We and Iam are the only two good contestants this year. Anyone else will top Chayce Beckham for worst winner of the ABC seasons. Speaking if We, her performance was perfect, easily her best so far.
  21. She's not always on, but I actually loved Whoopi's comments on the transgender lawmaker being silenced in Montana. She's usually good at bringing the fire in reaction to these kinds of stories if nothing else.
  22. I think that was more an excuse they gave for firing her, they really just wanted to restart, imo. I didn't see yesterday's show because the channel here had "technical difficulties" where I live. 🙄 I'll have to catch it online sometime, I wanted to see what they said about Carlson and Lemon. Today was pretty good though, but most shows are now. The relationship topic made me laugh when Joy made the sex slave comment and Whoopi cracked ("Why I do get myself sucked into this every time?"). Whoopi was being so serious and everyone else was more playing around, lol.
  23. I agree. The View has always been an entertainment show. It was only "technically" filed under the news division because they also talk about big headlines and politics. I think there's always been a half-and-half balance between the heavy stuff and the fluff topics? I haven't had the chance to skim the show today yet--was Joy back yet?
  24. I think Augusta and Edward are still going to end up together, actually. I think the only character who won't be married at the end that's been on track for it this season is Lady Denham, and I wouldn't get married either after this episode if I was her. Even with this episode aside, I wasn't invested in the romance involving her because she's so awful. I only wonder how the Duke's sister will get a HEA here with everyone else getting married. Perhaps she'll end up with Ralph (to the mother's outrage)?
  25. This is a weak season so far. Iam was the only strong performance of the whole night. The only other person I kind of liked was Matt. I think there's 3 or 4 I remember from the Hollywood episodes that should be on Part 2, but still.... A pretty weak lineup this year. And please make the Chris Stapleton wannabe go away.
