  1. Alyssa was pretty good today. I loved the bit with the Joy portrait in her dressing room closet. "Lucky you."
  2. Yeah, I think Harington and Chastain were the only guests this week that looked any good when I read the list yesterday. I think Eboni Williams tried out a couple of times last year or am I wrong? At least the name looks familiar.
  3. Joy had the best comments in the first segment, blowing apart the mental illness deflect from Alyssa with, "Don't they have the mentally ill in the E.U.?" Throwing a bone Alyssa's way though, I did laugh when she was begging that George Santos not end up with a show on Netflix. The topic about the millionaire paying to get his 18-year-old body back was hilarious to me? Between Joy's "She didn't get these back, she gave them back" about Sunny's, ahem, reduction and then Whoopi going off on a tangent about how a study would know mice got their memories back.
  4. I am very glad she doesn't scream, that's for sure. And that she can laugh when there's a joke rather than looking stone-faced over everything Joy or Whoopi say. She's alright. When she showed a picture of her sister recently, they looked so similar in the face, although Alyssa gives me more of a "New Jersey" vibe, maybe it's the tan? (She could be from NJ for all I know. 😄 ) Perhaps that's why I thought she looked nice a few weeks ago with her hair bigger. I remember another poster thought I must have been shading her at the time since they didn't like it, lol, but I was being serious. Joy looked great today in the white blazer. I remember for years she wore nothing but black, they would even joke about it on the show now and again. It's nice seeing her being more free with the clothes the show gives them to wear.
  5. Whoopi was pretty funny in the way she opened the first topic ("I, too, have found classified documents at my house"--for those who haven't watched yet). I agree with Joy that the Pence situation takes a lot of the partisanship out of the discussion, and keeps the spotlight on Trump's obstruction as compared to Pence and Biden who were both forthright and cooperating. I like that Joy can mess around with all of them, like bringing up Sara's therapy at one point today.
  6. Speaking of hosts we often criticize, I'll give kudos to Alyssa's comments on the same topic for being honest and acknowledging that while naturally people like McConnell see DeSantis as having better chances than Trump in a general since he comes with less baggage, insider figures have had very little impact on what the base chooses to do the past few years in the end.
  7. On the parenting topic, I think Sunny's delivery came across a little bitter over how the other co-hosts disagree with her in those kinds of discussions all the time. That said, good for Whoopi actually letting her give her view for once, even though she disagrees. And I agreed with Whoopi during the opening that DeSantis isn't an off-ramp from Trump, the difference between the two of them is almost non-existent at this point.
  8. Well, I'm against stars from reality TV on principle usually, but even with that aside, I'd prefer someone like Juju Chang, Julia Haart, Deborah Roberts, etc. if they ever were to hire somebody else. I'm pretty sure the contracts are in place with the current panel through '24 or '25. Maybe they could hire Lindsay if Sara ever decides to go back to ABC infotainment fodder.
  9. I actually had the opposite thought about this panel today, it made me think the unthinkable that the show might be more interesting if they'd hired Tara instead of Alyssa at this point, and I say that as someone who was not a Tara fan. Sometimes it feels like all the co-hosts are being told to walk on eggshells for Alyssa's sake which makes everything very boring--Alyssa herself is too busy trying to rehab her terrible reputation that she doesn't offer much in the way of disagreement most of the time--and Sara in particular has become very unlikable since Alyssa joined the show. It's funny, I thought perhaps that Ana and Sunny would get to be unbearable if Tara was hired (since the three are friends in real life, I thought they'd end up steamrolling the others) and the show would be better off with someone else, but it looks like that happened to Sara instead with Alyssa there. I personally didn't like the Bachelorette co-host, although she at least gave a pretty good response on one of the topics today, I think it was the second segment when they were talking about the college course. It was the same one one where I was eyerolling over Sara's comments just because of how opposite it was to some things she's said on other topics the past two months.
  10. The video of Joy's daughter imitating her yesterday was so cute. Wow, I hadn't heard about that accident Chenoweth talked about before now? Good to have a day without Whoopi. I would've much rather Sara or Alyssa was off rather than Sunny though, too bad. The show was alright today, but what a dull two weeks The View has had.
  11. Dolly was lovely as always, and she overcame the technical difficulties very gracefully (missing part of Whoopi's question at the beginning and the camera being awkwardly stuck on her too long at the end). Otherwise, a mostly dull show, imo.
  12. ^ Too bad they didn't put him on Monday when Ana's there to see him instead of Leslie Jones, that way I wouldn't have to see him. I like Jones, but don't think I need to watch just for her. I've already seen her on several other shows the past week as it is. Her guest appearance on Jimmy Fallon was hilarious (no, I don't watch Fallon regularly). Looking forward to Dolly, Chenoweth, and Mel B.
  13. Joy was the one who said they had to go, from what I recall. I didn't think there was anything weird about that considering they let both Alyssa and Ana speak first and for much longer than the others at the beginning of the show yesterday. I could get why they gave Ana more time since she's only there two days of the week, not sure why with the other one. Sunny was also trying to say something at the end there that she didn't get out, asking about the documents flushed down the toilet, I believe, lol.
  14. On a similar wavelength, maybe it's because I'm a gay man, but I hadn't noticed anything at all in regards to Sunny's chest.* I'm glad for her if she feels better now though. * I don't think Joy had any idea what she was talking about to begin with either. 😆 EDIT: I see something had been posted in Sunny's topic here a couple of days back, I hadn't seen that. I wasn't sure what she was talking about when she said some people were asking her if she had cancer or something, at first I thought she was about to announce something serious.
  15. I agreed with Sunny that the special counsel was appointed because of several different investigations going on at once, not simply the one into the obstruction over classified documents. Color me surprised that Sara and Alyssa acknowledged how different the two situations are. Especially Sara. I guess I'm used to her not contributing much more than "BothSideBothSides" the past couple of months on any of the heavier topics, to the point they could just put out a sign for her rather than wasting airtime. Joy's shoulder pads, lol. I did like the polka dots yesterday, but this one, not so much. I did laugh at Whoopi cracking up over Sunny talking about crimes of "moral turpitude" in regards to McCarthy giving Santos a pass; like Whoopi, I think the horse left the barn on that one a long time ago.
  16. ^ And I believe Sunny said during that discussion that she didn't have the money to buy a building or whatever to get her kids in, lol. Another unremarkable show today. Last week was mostly okay other than Thursday, feels like this one is lagging, but maybe not watching Monday's makes less interesting shows even more of a drag for me. The only thing I remember much about was Whoopi talking about her house in California she was (is?) selling because there are rattlesnakes everywhere thanks to climate change or whatever. I'm surprised Whoopi wasn't worse during the Golden Globes discussion actually, but I don't think she liked Joy's comment at the end about how she hates the fashion and would prefer a comic like Gervais who mocks everyone. I personally like looking at the dresses. *shrug* But I do agree about more biting humor being a good thing for those kinds of events.
  17. Sort of meh show today. I agreed with Joy that it was the obstruction that made Trump's case so bad. If he simply returned the documents when asked, he wouldn't have been in trouble over the situation at all. (And that's not even getting to all the other differences between the two situations.) What a nightmare @ Kendrick's story of being trapped in a packed elevator.
  18. I finally got around to watching Thursday's show earlier. I see I didn't miss much, pretty boring episode with the interviews taking up all the airtime. That wouldn't surprise me at all.
  19. That makes sense. They ended up having the opposite effect in the end though. All I could think was the idea of a fistfight between the two brothers over the younger one's wife sounds like something off of The View's other favorite source for fluff fodder topics, the Real Housewives.
  20. I've been busy the past few days. I did watch Tuesday when it was on and thought it was a good show. Today's was a great show, too. I'll have to watch the latter end of yesterday's show later though. I agree with Joy that Markle probably isn't a saint, I just doubt she's a supervillain either. If you've been paying attention to the media at all the past 10 years, the level of vitriol towards her feels the same as with so many other female celebrities that it's hard not to think it revolves around her being a woman or her race to a large extent, ie Markle in some ways treated as an arrogant woman who needs to "know her place" v. the old institution that is the monarchy. Ana made a good point about the toll fame has taken on Markle's own family, too, although it's not as talked about as the royal figures that are good tabloid fodder. I'm very surprised William would've got in a physical fight with Harry over all this stuff with Markle though, and--I could be wrong--but I don't think Harry'd lie about that? Even if you think Markle is this evil woman who has him in her thrall and is telling him what all to say and do, I don't believe he'd lie about something like that. I thought Sunny's stance when they were talking about Union was so odd. She doesn't even want Manny to tell her if he cheated. ??? Generally I agree with Sunny when it comes to going scorched earth in the hypothetical of adultery, but wanting to shut your eyes to what might be happening isn't me. I'd want to know. I still definitely don't agree with Sara and Alyssa (as far as their take that love would be worse) though. Like Ana, I wouldn't care if it was a sober or drunken mistake. The only difference in how I respond would be if you tell me v. if you lie and I find out on my own. The latter would be no holds barred for me. At first, I thought it was sad that Union would have followed in her father's same mistakes like that (re: whoever makes the money can do what they want attitude), but then they said later that her spouse had already been cheating on her to begin with, so... Not exactly the same? Sara was hilarious when they were talking about people in front of elevators, escalators, and so on who stop in the middle of places like nobody else exists. Particularly the part where she said she hates confrontation and so if someone isn't looking around, she'll run into them and act like it was an accident to give them a 'consequence,' lol. Yeah, it was that way for me, too. I had the thought as I was watching today's show, that I sort of think of Whoopi in the same way I did Barbara back then, as far as looking forward to the days she's not there. Whoopi stifles the discussion much the way Barbara would--in different ways (Barbara wanted nothing risque or too "real" IMO to be said, Whoopi wants nobody to disagree with her). They both have / had huge egos and wanted to be worshiped. They both ended up being competitive with some other women who've been on this show--although at least Barbara kept most of those moments behind-the-scenes rather than allowing it to show up on the air. I think the difference of why I still respected Barbara despite those flaws was because (other than the fact she came from a different time in the business), well, it was Barbara's show. The others should kowtow to her considering she was the boss and her reputation helped this show get off the ground. That, and Barbara always prepared more than anyone else, so it didn't seem like a lot to ask of the people around her to put in some work. Whereas Whoopi often rolls in looking awful, ill-prepared with the teleprompter, rarely speaks comprehensibly, etc. etc., as if the show doesn't deserve any more effort from her and they're lucky to get what little they get. Maybe she meant to say that the Speaker this time (whoever they'll be) will have less power than usual because of the margin being so close? IDK
  21. I'm glad Elisabeth was there for only one segment. Seemed like she couldn't even get that a moment like this one without shoveling spin, ugh. Nice seeing and hearing from the original co-hosts. Such a shame Meredith was sick, would've loved to have seen her today at the table itself along with Lisa. I forgot that Sunny started guesting when Barbara was there. I didn't watch most of the Sherri/Jenny season, that must be why. I did remember that Sherri helped Sunny get her start on The View to "pay it forward" so to speak (although she didn't get hired until Joy came back), somehow my mind blanked that Barbara's final year was at the same time she first tried out. Yeah, it's a shame Rosie couldn't be there. In a way, it had felt as if Barbara left the show to Rosie when she retired, my personal interpretation was it was to make up for the past on her way out. They could've had her on the segment that Joy was moderating so she never had to deal with Whoopi.
  22. I don't believe Joy is after Whoopi either, they've always been allies behind-the-scenes. I'm sure Sunny wouldn't mind if Whoopi went though, and I can't blame her for that. Personally, I don't think Whoopi will go. She's always stayed because she wants the $$$. I'm sure there are friends who want her to go because in today's environment it's so easy to be "cancelled" and Whoopi's come close, but I doubt her family are advising her to leave at all. She has had some sciatica problems lately because of the chairs, that's not really because of BTS fighting. I wouldn't mind if Whoopi did leave even if I don't think she would. It would be interesting to find a new moderator for the panel, but it would be difficult attracting a big name at the same time (and that's what they would need). That said, part of me feels it's better that the show not rock the boat. Whoopi, Joy, Sara, Ana, and Sunny are a panel that's kept them #1 in the ratings for several years now. The 5th chair can be filled by anyone, but messing with those others too much could potentially impact their hot streak.
  23. At least she hopefully had a peaceful end to her life. I know Joy and Barbara were always close friends, but I wonder how much Joy was able to keep in contact with her after she retired. It was sort of my understanding that Barbara left public life altogether, almost as if she didn't keep in contact with anyone after she retired. Well, that will be the main topic when the show comes back. :(
  24. Only Whoopi could find a way to step in it when the show's not even on air.
  25. It was nice having all the co-hosts there today for once. Whoopi asking Love about the Queen of Christmas drama made me giggle.
