  1. I think it's sort of a draw between Eleanor and Michelle (and at least one other First Lady). One could argue, aside from racism and the current political era adding to the level of awfulness in the attacks against her, Michelle was attacked in such a way despite not being too active in the political arena herself the way Eleanor Roosevelt was.
  2. Good show today. Not much else to say, no fireworks or anything. The Woodward interview could've been longer, but it was good as it was, too. Thankfully, no View Your Deal since they did that on Whoopi's birthday. What a relief.
  3. Boring show today, but it wasn't as bad as I usually expect Whoopi's birthday show to be, actually. I liked Sunny's hair--I like when it's put up like that--but those boa arm pieces or whatever, whew. I guess they gave her that to wear because they looked "festive" or something, lol. Whoopi has always been Whoopi's favorite subject.
  4. Other than Joy, my feelings about the co-hosts have shifted a lot over a very short period of time. Ana and Sunny were getting on my nerves at the end of the last season, but now I've been fine with them the past few weeks and Sara's been taking the crown as the most annoying one for me of the three. (I don't include Whoopi and Alyssa because I don't like them on a normal day.) As for Whoopi's comments about polls today, actually... The polls ended up being mostly correct? It's only people were afraid that the polls would be within the margin of error in the same direction as it was in 2020. As bluegirl said, nothing bad. Alyssa's attitude from yesterday seems to have evaporated...heh. She did get booed by the audience for suggesting Biden should step down despite the results though. LOL
  5. Alyssa's not as bad as McCain--as far as how she speaks goes, not what she says--that's always been true. (That is a very low bar.) But she has interrupted Sunny 3 or 4 times over the past week... If Sunny didn't let her have the last word this time because Alyssa was coming at her, I don't have sympathy for Alyssa. She started drama and got what she deserved.
  6. I'll have to disagree with you there, I don't see her comments as problematic in any way, shape, or form. If anything was problematic from last week, it was Sara's comments on Tuesday, not Sunny's comments. But of course, Sara isn't being called out for those, whereas Sunny is knocked for anything and everything. I guess Sunny should take that as a sign she's doing something right otherwise Alyssa and Sara wouldn't be so threatened by her.
  7. Yeah... If you don't simply come at the conversation already knowing that Alyssa is just a snake and you simply took her at her word, it would make her sound very stupid. I've heard a similar expression ("chickens voting for Colonel Sanders")--if Sunny had used that instead, would Alyssa have felt Sunny was insulting her by calling her a chicken?? 🤣
  8. The irony of Alyssa (of the Trump Administration) quoting Michelle Obama to Sunny after she--not Sunny--went after someone deliberately for something that they said last week, misquoting them purposefully, attempting to label them "far left" simultaneously, etc. I believe "far right" is an accurate descriptor of Alyssa because we know her history whereas "far left" doesn't fit Sunny considering her conservative positions on relationships and abortion or the names she's supported in politics on the show for years. And bobblehead Sara nodding along can f*** off, too.
  9. Good for Sunny! F*** Alyssa for lying and f*** Whoopi for trying to keep Sunny from defending herself. The only thing I think Sunny should've said is "You're lying, just like you've done every day you've been on this show." I mean, since Alyssa already attacked Sunny personally, what's good for one is good for the other. But you could tell Sunny was trying to use a different word than "liar," and instead said she's twisting her words.
  10. Joy's "Just put an ankle monitor on him already!" had me rolling, it even made Sunny laugh. TBH, I agreed with Sunny on that topic... I think renting your husband out to women who are most likely single and potentially lonely to help them around the house definitely has the potential to open a can of worms. If a man's gonna cheat, he's gonna cheat regardless, but opening the door wide open to opportunity like that probably isn't wise either... Not often, but this week Sara has been fully off the rails in a way she never has been before. She was extremely hostile to Sunny again today (even when they were talking about Taylor Swift of all things 🙄 ), and I agreed with Ana and Sunny both that her and Alyssa's attempt to bothsides every issue is dangerous because it clouds the public's ability to discern anything. Which we know, of course, is obviously Alyssa's end-goal, she's made that pretty clear, but it's pretty disgraceful of Sara to help her along. Anyway, Sara becoming a piece of work is just another confirmation for me that this show will go down the tubes without Joy. She's the only one there who gets along with everyone apparently, the linchpin that's holding this panel together despite the clear fault lines between the others. Without her, Whoopi, Sara, and Alyssa will go after Sunny to get her fired pretty fast. If Sunny goes, I think Ana would also leave considering she's closer to Sunny than the others and she doesn't need this show, then The View will devolve back to Whoopi and the Whoopettes (of which Sara already is one) and down the drain they'll go.
  11. This is the third show now that Alyssa has overtalked Sunny, and then when she's done, Sara jumps in to tag team Sunny afterwards. I'm getting tired of this show's double standards. If you supposedly want everyone to be able to speak on this show, then let Sunny finish her points without talking over her as much as you do Alyssa. And after the hostility from Sara towards Sunny these past two shows, Sara can f*** off altogether, imo. Even despite all that against her, Sunny got several good shots out anyway, which is probably the reason they're trying to dogpile her every day now. "Roaches voting for Raid." 😄
  12. She was more gross than she's ever been on the show before, she was very hostile to Sunny. I think the show is forcing her to fill the Abby role to Alyssa, tbh. They were talking about Affirmative Action. You can probably guess from there. Alyssa and Joy mostly stayed out of it, although Joy did read a quote by Clarence Thomas from the '80s when he was saying how much he benefited from Affirmative Action to highlight his hypocrisy. Truly a case of shutting the door to the people coming behind you. Anyway, Sunny also said she had benefited from Affirmative Action and that, despite the smears that it gives advantages to people who don't have the grades, she had a 4.0 GPA. Sara made the whole discussion about race even though, as Whoopi pointed out, the group most benefited by it were White women... I agreed with Whoopi actually, Affirmative Action was simply about overcoming bias in the process, where the usual groups are often denied even when they have the same grades to deserve entry and that isn't simply a case of racial bias but also bias based on gender, class, and so on.
  13. Since Joy was on, I checked out Monday and the costumes were actually pretty good. I thought Ana looked the best. Seemed like today's show ended up being mostly about spousal pain or grief going from the discussion of the brutal attack of Pelosi's husband to Boseman's widow and then Griner's wife back-to-back.
  14. To me, she played Joy almost like a female Larry David. 😄
  15. This was definitely the best episode of this season, but I knew it would be stronger than the others with Cecily back. The opening, the 2020 Part 2: 2024 skit, and the View skit were all really good, for me at least. The only clunker was the Joker wedding skit, I hated that one. I wouldn't mind if they did View skits more often since I thought Nwodim and Sherman nailed Whoopi and Joy, respectively. The last time the show did them that well was Fred Armisen as Joy and Kenan as Whoopi, although Aidy Bryant as Meghan McCain was hilarious. I only knew him from being on Lil Nas X's song, "Industry Baby." He was better than I expected, tbh. Looking forward to Amy Schumer next week!
  16. I thought maybe this would've been posted already: The skit was partly referencing Ted Cruz's visit and partly the Meghan Markle discussion where Whoopi shouted everybody down. I thought Ego Nwodim and Sarah Sherman were actually the best impersonations of Whoopi and Joy so far (by women, that is, lol). Leslie Jones was alright as Whoopi in the last one, but McKinnon didn't work as Joy to me. I think McKinnon is stronger at the reserved, stiff, somewhat awkward type where Joy is clearly an extrovert.
  17. I thought I should put this here and not take the weekly topic off. I think a lot of Sunny's worst mannerisms on this show (the pout, being argumentative on pointless / small things) developed because of Whoopi. They're the best way she found to get her opinions out on those topics where Whoopi does her best to cut her off immediately, by babying it down and trying to act "comical." And we know her asskissing Whoopi is also a part of it, I don't buy that Sunny really likes Whoopi after all the years of her nonsense. And some of her more cold disagreements with Sara feel part of the same thing, since Sara often seems closely aligned with Whoopi. In that way of, "I have to walk on eggshells with her (Whoopi), but I'm not going to with you, that's for sure" kind of way. Actually, I've always kind of suspected Sunny had a role in Whoopi's mea culpa last year... Sunny does have a Jewish grandfather that she very noticeably didn't mention when the show was doing cleanup for Whoopi the next day after the controversy began; Sunny always brings up her ancestry when relevant and she could have brought it up then to defend Whoopi if she had wanted to, so to me it was like she was trying to keep attention from being drawn to that fact because it might reveal she had a part in going to Human Resources (or whatever The View has). That was the closest Whoopi ever came to really getting fired before. Her suspension was very surprising considering all the flubs and bad behavior she's survived. That's only suspicion on my part, but I say good for Sunny, if so... 😁
  18. Decent guests two weeks in a row. Bassett is the one I'm most excited to see.
  19. We'll have to agree to disagree. I think anyone at the show upset with that kind of hiring--Sunny or otherwise--is absolutely right to feel that way. Forgiving someone on a personal level and being good with allowing someone a massive platform to spew lies are very different things. I'd be surprised if any religion would support the latter, since the subject's been brought up... I don't blame Sunny if she doesn't buy this because I don't either. Alyssa was a rat that jumped ship at the moment most convenient for her career and that's all. You can tell she has no real regrets from the way she defended Trump's handling of the pandemic earlier this week. It's all for show. We'll have to agree to disagree then, because the only person I have problems with are Whoopi and Alyssa--and only Whoopi do I have problems with the way they deal with others, she's rude and childish on top of being dumb on most topics. For example, the way she kept Joy, Sunny, etc. from mentioning polls for the months now because she doesn't like them, lol. What a joke.
  20. I agree with this. I don't think Sunny is jealous or threatened by Alyssa at all, she just vehemently dislikes her, for the obvious reasons. I think the only way I could buy Sunny would be "jealous" is simply in regards to the way Sara, for example, has sometimes made these overtures on the show to Alyssa to help her be heard when Alyssa's being shutdown or overtalked, whereas I only ever recall Joy (if anyone) doing that for Sunny when Whoopi is doing the same to Sunny as recent as last week when they were talking about Deal or No Deal. And with Whoopi being moderator, it's even worse because she's abusing her role at the same time by stifling somebody's views. Nobody reached out to shield Sunny the same way they are Alyssa--if anything, we know Sunny was threatened she would be fired if she wouldn't accept being treated badly by others in the past--which is amazing when in comparison most of the things Alyssa says are vile. At least--just my opinion--it has come across a little hypocritical to me the past two months for Sara to be protective of Alyssa whenever Sunny shut her down while always having been pretty darn quiet whenever Whoopi is doing the same to Sunny. I suppose Teta favoring Alyssa could also play a role in the different response though.
  21. Too bad the news hadn't come out about Pelosi before the end of the show, I would've liked to hear what Chelsea Clinton might've said. And of course the ladies didn't get to talk about it either beyond mentioning it at the end which means Joy won't get to comment at all since she's off Monday's. 🙄 I would be more interested in her reaction to these big news stories than the others, who often give almost scripted responses. Her reactions are more raw.
  22. Highlights for me were Phil tapdancing and then the bartender and Kat reacting to the girl who did the bellyshots offscreen in the prior scene. "Make better life choices." So Kat and Max are together now. I thought they would build up to that over the next couple of episodes, it happened more quickly than I expected.
  23. And many times comedy handles dark or sad scenes much better, since coming amidst so many comical moments, they impact you more. I think Phil passing away unexpectedly just like Jordan in real life could easily be written into the show considering its current direction. I already expected before his death that this probably would be the last season (of course I could be wrong?). A tragic event like that one could easily be used to push the relationships into a more serious direction for an eventual series finale, if they wanted to do that. Seize the day, and all that.
  24. Eddie Redmayne remains a sweetheart. That is all. I have a feeling they're trying to have less of the hard topics for now while the co-hosts get used to AFG. Since the panel is going to be in place for several years, they don't want to up the drama between them while they still have to be stuck with one another for a while.
  25. I'm glad Whoopi brought the first discussion back to the statistics in the first segment. I was ready for Sunny to slice and dice Alyssa when she tried to overtalk her, but Sunny's handling her better lately. She just kept giving her points regardless of what Alyssa said. Sort of a meh show today though.
