  1. Joy was the one who said they had to go, from what I recall. I didn't think there was anything weird about that considering they let both Alyssa and Ana speak first and for much longer than the others at the beginning of the show yesterday. I could get why they gave Ana more time since she's only there two days of the week, not sure why with the other one. Sunny was also trying to say something at the end there that she didn't get out, asking about the documents flushed down the toilet, I believe, lol.
  2. On a similar wavelength, maybe it's because I'm a gay man, but I hadn't noticed anything at all in regards to Sunny's chest.* I'm glad for her if she feels better now though. * I don't think Joy had any idea what she was talking about to begin with either. 😆 EDIT: I see something had been posted in Sunny's topic here a couple of days back, I hadn't seen that. I wasn't sure what she was talking about when she said some people were asking her if she had cancer or something, at first I thought she was about to announce something serious.
  3. I agreed with Sunny that the special counsel was appointed because of several different investigations going on at once, not simply the one into the obstruction over classified documents. Color me surprised that Sara and Alyssa acknowledged how different the two situations are. Especially Sara. I guess I'm used to her not contributing much more than "BothSideBothSides" the past couple of months on any of the heavier topics, to the point they could just put out a sign for her rather than wasting airtime. Joy's shoulder pads, lol. I did like the polka dots yesterday, but this one, not so much. I did laugh at Whoopi cracking up over Sunny talking about crimes of "moral turpitude" in regards to McCarthy giving Santos a pass; like Whoopi, I think the horse left the barn on that one a long time ago.
  4. ^ And I believe Sunny said during that discussion that she didn't have the money to buy a building or whatever to get her kids in, lol. Another unremarkable show today. Last week was mostly okay other than Thursday, feels like this one is lagging, but maybe not watching Monday's makes less interesting shows even more of a drag for me. The only thing I remember much about was Whoopi talking about her house in California she was (is?) selling because there are rattlesnakes everywhere thanks to climate change or whatever. I'm surprised Whoopi wasn't worse during the Golden Globes discussion actually, but I don't think she liked Joy's comment at the end about how she hates the fashion and would prefer a comic like Gervais who mocks everyone. I personally like looking at the dresses. *shrug* But I do agree about more biting humor being a good thing for those kinds of events.
  5. Sort of meh show today. I agreed with Joy that it was the obstruction that made Trump's case so bad. If he simply returned the documents when asked, he wouldn't have been in trouble over the situation at all. (And that's not even getting to all the other differences between the two situations.) What a nightmare @ Kendrick's story of being trapped in a packed elevator.
  6. I finally got around to watching Thursday's show earlier. I see I didn't miss much, pretty boring episode with the interviews taking up all the airtime. That wouldn't surprise me at all.
  7. That makes sense. They ended up having the opposite effect in the end though. All I could think was the idea of a fistfight between the two brothers over the younger one's wife sounds like something off of The View's other favorite source for fluff fodder topics, the Real Housewives.
  8. I've been busy the past few days. I did watch Tuesday when it was on and thought it was a good show. Today's was a great show, too. I'll have to watch the latter end of yesterday's show later though. I agree with Joy that Markle probably isn't a saint, I just doubt she's a supervillain either. If you've been paying attention to the media at all the past 10 years, the level of vitriol towards her feels the same as with so many other female celebrities that it's hard not to think it revolves around her being a woman or her race to a large extent, ie Markle in some ways treated as an arrogant woman who needs to "know her place" v. the old institution that is the monarchy. Ana made a good point about the toll fame has taken on Markle's own family, too, although it's not as talked about as the royal figures that are good tabloid fodder. I'm very surprised William would've got in a physical fight with Harry over all this stuff with Markle though, and--I could be wrong--but I don't think Harry'd lie about that? Even if you think Markle is this evil woman who has him in her thrall and is telling him what all to say and do, I don't believe he'd lie about something like that. I thought Sunny's stance when they were talking about Union was so odd. She doesn't even want Manny to tell her if he cheated. ??? Generally I agree with Sunny when it comes to going scorched earth in the hypothetical of adultery, but wanting to shut your eyes to what might be happening isn't me. I'd want to know. I still definitely don't agree with Sara and Alyssa (as far as their take that love would be worse) though. Like Ana, I wouldn't care if it was a sober or drunken mistake. The only difference in how I respond would be if you tell me v. if you lie and I find out on my own. The latter would be no holds barred for me. At first, I thought it was sad that Union would have followed in her father's same mistakes like that (re: whoever makes the money can do what they want attitude), but then they said later that her spouse had already been cheating on her to begin with, so... Not exactly the same? Sara was hilarious when they were talking about people in front of elevators, escalators, and so on who stop in the middle of places like nobody else exists. Particularly the part where she said she hates confrontation and so if someone isn't looking around, she'll run into them and act like it was an accident to give them a 'consequence,' lol. Yeah, it was that way for me, too. I had the thought as I was watching today's show, that I sort of think of Whoopi in the same way I did Barbara back then, as far as looking forward to the days she's not there. Whoopi stifles the discussion much the way Barbara would--in different ways (Barbara wanted nothing risque or too "real" IMO to be said, Whoopi wants nobody to disagree with her). They both have / had huge egos and wanted to be worshiped. They both ended up being competitive with some other women who've been on this show--although at least Barbara kept most of those moments behind-the-scenes rather than allowing it to show up on the air. I think the difference of why I still respected Barbara despite those flaws was because (other than the fact she came from a different time in the business), well, it was Barbara's show. The others should kowtow to her considering she was the boss and her reputation helped this show get off the ground. That, and Barbara always prepared more than anyone else, so it didn't seem like a lot to ask of the people around her to put in some work. Whereas Whoopi often rolls in looking awful, ill-prepared with the teleprompter, rarely speaks comprehensibly, etc. etc., as if the show doesn't deserve any more effort from her and they're lucky to get what little they get. Maybe she meant to say that the Speaker this time (whoever they'll be) will have less power than usual because of the margin being so close? IDK
  9. I'm glad Elisabeth was there for only one segment. Seemed like she couldn't even get that a moment like this one without shoveling spin, ugh. Nice seeing and hearing from the original co-hosts. Such a shame Meredith was sick, would've loved to have seen her today at the table itself along with Lisa. I forgot that Sunny started guesting when Barbara was there. I didn't watch most of the Sherri/Jenny season, that must be why. I did remember that Sherri helped Sunny get her start on The View to "pay it forward" so to speak (although she didn't get hired until Joy came back), somehow my mind blanked that Barbara's final year was at the same time she first tried out. Yeah, it's a shame Rosie couldn't be there. In a way, it had felt as if Barbara left the show to Rosie when she retired, my personal interpretation was it was to make up for the past on her way out. They could've had her on the segment that Joy was moderating so she never had to deal with Whoopi.
  10. I don't believe Joy is after Whoopi either, they've always been allies behind-the-scenes. I'm sure Sunny wouldn't mind if Whoopi went though, and I can't blame her for that. Personally, I don't think Whoopi will go. She's always stayed because she wants the $$$. I'm sure there are friends who want her to go because in today's environment it's so easy to be "cancelled" and Whoopi's come close, but I doubt her family are advising her to leave at all. She has had some sciatica problems lately because of the chairs, that's not really because of BTS fighting. I wouldn't mind if Whoopi did leave even if I don't think she would. It would be interesting to find a new moderator for the panel, but it would be difficult attracting a big name at the same time (and that's what they would need). That said, part of me feels it's better that the show not rock the boat. Whoopi, Joy, Sara, Ana, and Sunny are a panel that's kept them #1 in the ratings for several years now. The 5th chair can be filled by anyone, but messing with those others too much could potentially impact their hot streak.
  11. At least she hopefully had a peaceful end to her life. I know Joy and Barbara were always close friends, but I wonder how much Joy was able to keep in contact with her after she retired. It was sort of my understanding that Barbara left public life altogether, almost as if she didn't keep in contact with anyone after she retired. Well, that will be the main topic when the show comes back. :(
  12. Only Whoopi could find a way to step in it when the show's not even on air.
  13. It was nice having all the co-hosts there today for once. Whoopi asking Love about the Queen of Christmas drama made me giggle.
  14. I was thinking the same thing about Sunny, but I think there's a shared reason for how hyper scrutinized they are. Anyway, I don't feel bad for Sunny's husband mostly because I don't think Sunny is terrible like so many here do, and I agree with what was said somewhere above pointing out that Manny did marry her after she destroyed his phone. He already knew all about Sunny when he married her and must've liked it? If her possessiveness is not a secret to us, he probably knows better than we do. LOL It was probably from yesterday's show I'm thinking of, just wanted to say Sunny looked really nice in that flashback photo in her Christmas message to her aunt (I think it was her aunt?) who has Alzheimer's. As for Markle, I don't keep up with the royals discussion outside of topics that come up on shows like The View, so I was surprised to hear Harry's brother was one of the people they didn't get along with. I always thought it was the older royals who were the problem, that's a shame since I always thought the older brother and his wife seemed nice anyway. Today was a decent show, I loved Joy making fun of Sunny's outfit with the boa feathers on the lower arms and Alyssa's mermaid skirt. A shame since Sunny did look good today aside from the outfit. Alyssa's hair was nice bigger like that--maybe just me? She looked like she could be a Real Housewife from New Jersey. The interviews were, as expected, pretty good. I've always thought Sara has a nice laugh. I just had that thought from her laughing over Pelosi's clothes shade in the interview.
  15. The December shows are usually more boring than normal, since the QVC-fest is x10. Regardless, Joy putting on at the end of the Adele-therapy discussion was a highlight for me. "Oh, well, whatever--he's dead now." 🤣🤣🤣
  16. Yeah, a lot of good guests this week--Pelosi, McDonald, and Falco in particular, then Darlene Love's performance to top the week off. That'll counter-balance the fluff holiday topics, nonstop advertising in-show, and things being pre-recorded.
  17. Certainly the best on this panel. My favorite from this show was probably Paula Faris. Interestingly, Ana first joined the show the same season Paula did (and Sunny, too, actually). I also liked Abby. Sara is imitating the same function Abby played these days, but it's not really a good fit because Sara's been on the show expressing certain opinions for years. Her suddenly saying something very different now makes it seems like the show tells her what to say, whereas Abby was mostly herself. As far as personality, Alyssa is somewhere between Abby and Jedidiah (who I really did not like); so I'm never going to like Alyssa, but she doesn't "spoil" the show for me outright either. That's mostly in response to those who use that fact as a way to dismiss her jailing as justified and her life as worthless.
  18. This can all be true and still be considered an unfair state of affairs at the same time though? And in a scenario like that one, it would become more about proportion. Is Griner paid proportionally in relation to what the WNBA makes to what a male player is getting in relation to what the NBA makes, for example. Anyway, to today's show. I agreed with Sunny that Sinema is re-writing history, that Arizona voted her in as what she was (it's not like her affiliation was hidden when they voted for her), and she's just trying to salvage her career now everyone despises her in her home state. Good luck!
  19. I didn't get that either, I guess I'm more like Joy and Sunny. I mean, it would be over if someone I was with was "in love with" someone else, too, of course, but at least I think I could part amicably depending on the scenario. Sex, on the other hand, is an action and you can control your actions more than feelings. At least, I know emotions sometimes happen unexpectedly or uncontrollably. I disagree. I think Sunny was right that this story spotlights the uneven salaries between women and men in the same career. I don't think someone needs to be poor to "deserve" being paid equal to their male counterparts.
  20. Whoopi was annoying yesterday, but she was a full-blown asshole today. Jeez. I don't care what she says, the Kardashians are NOT good actors and they definitely aren't role models. Ever since Whoopi and her family did that reality TV show some years ago, she won't allow anything less than worship for the Kardashians from anybody, ugh.
  21. Sara and her hideous funeral parlor makeup pissed me off when they were talking about the whole gotcha border nonsense. Joy had barely spoke a sentence before Whoopi and then Sara both jumped in (because how dare Joy disagree with Whoopi even slightly). Joy let Sara speak and then when Joy tried to finish what she was saying Sara started going again and acted like Joy was the one interrupting her. I'm so tired of her acting like it's so hard for her and back-seat moderating the others. I was glad when Joy was snippy with her afterwards considering Sara's point was pretty stupid at that.
  22. The LGBT topic was, as said above, a complete trainwreck. I think Sunny was the only one that got it right that it's about a protected class being denied. Alyssa in particular trying to frame a cake or any other product as "speech" was particularly eyeroll-worthy, you can see through her framing from a mile away. Sara is just nails on chalkboard these days. I know it's an UO here (oh, well), but I often find Sunny to be subtly hilarious with the way she puts on to get her disagreements out there when she knows the others are just going to throw cold water on anything she says. Between her during the older woman discussion and then "It's just a picture" to Sara and Alyssa, she was probably the best part for me today. The only thing that topped it was the last thing on Joy's list about pros for dating a younger man being you might need an organ someday. 😄
  23. I remember Avalon (but I am a diehard, I guess). She and Sonika Vaid were my favorites from the 15th season's cast. I read the other day that Noah Thompson has moved to Nashville. He's released a song called "Make You Rich," although I'm not sure it's a single or merely an album track. Anyway, he and HunterGirl have teased a duet together (also not sure if that would be a potential single or just an album track).
  24. Yeah... I don't think Ana dislikes Alyssa because she's jealous of her... I think it's more likely the other way around if there is jealousy at all considering Ana has popularity and fame unrelated to this show. What does Alyssa have that anyone would want? So I don't think that label applies. It's because of who Alyssa is, what she stands for, and what she espouses, the same reason some Viewers boycotted the show when she was hired. Ana has a right to her opinion on the subject as much as the Viewers do. Alyssa is very entitled if she thinks otherwise. Her quoting Albright of all people shows that she is still shameless and willing to say anything it takes, no matter how absurd it sounds coming from her.
  25. Had to look up the clip being discussed above, but it seemed apparent to me that Alyssa was attempting to be shady towards the show itself with her comments and Ana undercut her with that Kellyanne Conway joke. Loved the audience laughter. Reminded me of when the last one who sat in that seat would make veiled shots at the show itself--if you don't want to be there, feel free to go... Heh. Too bad they didn't bring back Julia Haart along with JuJu Chang since they were missing two people anyway, honestly they were the two best guest co-hosts they had on last season. The show would be firing on all cylinders with one of them there instead of a career liar like Alyssa.
