  1. I'm skeptical that the Royal Family do much work themselves, to my view they mostly do PR events these days and get paid from the public's taxes.
  2. I think they left because they, or at least Markle, didn't want to endure awful people, not because they didn't want to work?
  3. @film noire: I had thought about the security aspect myself, too, but wow, I wouldn't have guessed it would rack up so high.
  4. Sally Field, yay! I'd seen her doing the media rounds last week and hoped she might show up on this show, too.
  5. Depends on how much they spend (or want to spend), I imagine. They're not living off taxpayers for the rest of their lives like I assume the rest of the royal family are?
  6. I thought this one was so cute. The recurring jokes with the button were the highlight for me after them all on the ground with the turkey. Sad to hear this was Jordan's final episode, I thought I'd read back when his death happened that they'd filmed through episode 9 and assumed he'd be in episode 9, too. :( I agree with those saying the insults towards Kat are becoming a little too harsh to be believable. I'm so ready for Sheila in particular to be put in her place by somebody (Max?), she's been a complete twat to Kat every episode this season. I've generally found the show this season and last season more entertaining than a lot of posters, but even I admit the characters have been a bit more...mean and raunchy this season???
  7. I don't blame them either, since I know this is probably mostly about supporting themselves financially. They have to take care of themselves some way or another, and it's not like someone at their fame level can take a random job. They'd easily be recognized and harassed.
  8. I was surprised to see Joy today. Since she moderated Monday, I almost thought they were going to try flipping the week and have Whoopi moderate Friday's. I wonder how much longer before the show goes on break? I assume it being so close to the holidays is why Ana was there more this week than usual.
  9. I don't think Whoopi was suggesting in any way that this was justification for Casey Anthony, she just objected to Alyssa inserting false ideas about supposed "biological instinct" for women into the topic when it was inappropriate. Also the point Whoopi made about not picking what you want because you're thinking of how the guy couldn't afford it and you don't want him to pay more, lol. But really Ana is the one that made me giggle on that topic when she went on some rant about how she can't drink cheap liquor or take cheap anything these days.
  10. Refreshing to have a day without Sara. I agreed with Whoopi when she not so subtly blew up Alyssa's comment about instinct, because not all women are the same, being "maternal" is not something that comes naturally to every woman. Some people have it, some people don't. Also agreed with Joy in the opening segment that there need to be a mix of young and old leaders because the young can learn from the old. Whoopi said something there I thought was pretty dumb, but I'll let that be. I love Mindy Kaling. Not much else to say beyond that, it was nice to see her as a guest.
  11. Joy looked great today in the red suit she was wearing. How much things have changed, I remember when Joy was the one who only ever dressed in black, meanwhile today Joy is the colorful one and everyone else was in black. πŸ˜„ I liked Sunny's hair, too. I disagreed with Sara today when she argued with Joy pointing out the inconsistency over LGBT issues versus women's issues. Sara claimed some people see abortion as "murder" because of religion and that's different, but that same extreme demonizing language for a woman's freedoms is used towards LGBT issues when they try to translate things related to LGBT (adoption or what have you) into claims of "child abuse" or "grooming." If you're going to try to legitimize that kind of inflammatory, demonizing language about issues for one group the way Sara did today, it is inconsistent to think it can't easily be applied to another group. I agreed with Joy calling Lee delusional, although I think it's more a calculated pretense he's putting on that nothing is in danger when everyone knows very well that it is.
  12. Joy was talking to Teta off to the side and joking about how technology is beyond her as Sara tried to shut it off, lol. Personally, these little moments are fun for me usually, I don't really look to The View to be something oh so serious.
  13. I was surprised to see Joy was moderating, but happy about it! The fiddling with the cell-phone at the beginning made me laugh, I don't know why someone didn't run it behind-the-scenes more quickly than that, lol. Also got a laugh out of Ana pointing out Sunny pronouncing "Desjardins" from her legal note almost like "sardines." Fun show today.
  14. Well, I remember from the show that aired the day of the election 8 years ago (11/8/16, it might be on YouTube somewhere if you're interested) that she said she voted for his main opponent rather than someone else lower down because polls were so close.
  15. Holiday week, so I only got around to watching Wednesday's show last night, and well... There was a little comment made at the beginning of the show that made me roll my eyes. I'm starting to detest Sara as much as I did Nicolle when she was there nodding along to Whoopi's petty, mean girl jabs against all the people she feels threatened by on any given day. To the posts above, Ana has never supported him. That's why Ana seems as repulsed by Alyssa as Sunny is most of the time. Last week, I loved when Ana and Joy clocked Alyssa for pretending to care about the character of a candidate when they were talking about someone else as if she doesn't have a known history. Ana didn't even look at her, just rolled her eyes to Joy, lol. Also, that other show has been unwatchable ever since they added male co-hosts (O'Connell in particular), not that it was ever that good to begin with. A show abandoning its original conceit like that is a sign of desperation and just shows how far it's fallen, hopefully The View is never bad off enough to consider the same mistake. Barbara always intended this to be a show for women's views.
  16. I had checked into the opening of yesterday's show since I was hopeful Joy might be moderating, but unfortunately Whoopi was back already. And Ana wasn't there either? With Sara becoming more and more gross (going by today's show), too, that makes it even less likely I'd ever watch Monday's. Joy's comments about the Chrisleys were πŸ‘-worthy. So true.
  17. Since you replied to me, I'll just say... She hasn't been interrupted by Sunny for several weeks, as far as I recall, instead she was the one doing the interrupting for a while there until the day she attacked Sunny and Sunny put her in her place. Joy looks a bit like Lainie Kazan today. Sara sounds so dumb talking about how they "need" young people in charge when, as Alyssa pointed out herself, young voters just came out for them in droves. Sara is just coming across very fake to me this season.
  18. A shame Sunny couldn't be there for the Gurira interview. I loved Gurira as Michonne on The Walking Dead long before Black Panther, but she was a standout in the latter, too. Alyssa was surprisingly truthful about McCarthy's razor-thin majority and how that means he'll be controlled by a fringe for their every whim. I agreed with Joy that that will most likely backfire on them in the end.
  19. This. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Not much of note to say about today's show other than it was a good one. I agreed with Ana that we shouldn't treat Trump too lightly. Sunny actually had the funniest moment to me, rare for her, when she was talking about how she and Manny spent all of their savings going through round after round of IVF: "That's why I always say they literally owe me everything." πŸ˜„
  20. The best scenes of this one were the ending with Louis protecting Claudia (and getting the hell beaten out of himself because of it) and also the one just before that where Claudia is watching from afar as Louis is crying, with the narration of her finally understanding why she was made into a vampire--to replace Louis' family. 😒 She wasn't wanted for her own sake by Lestat, but at least she can empathize with Louis' loneliness and loss considering the tragedy of her own existence, never being able to be a woman fully.
  21. To the point about Louis framing his relationship with Armand differently than the one with Lestat--it makes sense considering Lestat is in some ways a parent to him (as far as being the one who made him a vampire), and that even includes a power imbalance--Lestat knowing everything while Louis is still learning, Lestat being able to fly and likely being stronger because he's from an older generation of vampires, etc. While I didn't think Armand and Louis had much chemistry together--I love the actor for Armand.
  22. I had got behind, so only watched these last four episodes this past Sunday night. I wasn't sure I liked the actress for Claudia to begin with, but that ending monologue was so good. I honestly thought this episode had implied
  23. From what I remember, Sara was reacting to Alyssa saying DeSantis couldn't pull off folksy, kissing babies, etc. The exact quote was, "Kissing babies?! I don't trust anybody who can't kiss babies."
  24. I'm sure Whoopi will be okay since she's vaccinated. The silver lining is we'll get two weeks of shows without her. I agreed with Ana this morning about people counting their eggs before they've hatched in regards to DeSantis, particularly when she brought up the last Florida politician who everyone though would be the nominee / president for sure (Rubio). Rubio beat a better candidate by a margin not much different than DeSantis' last week, too. Ana bringing back the recurring ghosts bit with Joy made me laugh.
  25. Is Whoopi any of those things? Sunny would be better than her. But, personally, aside from the fact that it was unfair to Sunny, I was sort of glad to see Sara was the moderator just because the moderator always gets to speak less than the others. Sara contributes the least, I'd much rather hear Ana and Sunny talk than her. Too bad Joy didn't come in to moderate today though; they had to know Whoopi would be off ahead of time. Or maybe Whoopi came in today and tested positive at the door?
