  1. I'm not big on fluff shows even when I like the person. Thank God for DVR--I usually fast forward and stop whenever something looks interesting or there's a guest I like rather than watching a full show. I record Kelly Clarkson's show because I'm a huge fan of hers, but mostly I watch her opening cover and then delete. If any of the new shows actually go on to be successful the way Ellen and Wendy Williams were, I hope it's the Jennifer Hudson Show if it can only be one. You never can tell what will take off. I really thought Queen Latifah's show would've lasted longer than it did, considering how likable she is I like Sherri Shepherd fine and I wish her well--Lord knows she has bills to pay--but I've never been a big fan. That said, I'm just so glad Wendy Williams is gone from TV. I watched Wendy Williams' early seasons--I loved that her show would be on The Soup nonstop (I miss The Soup with Joel McHale... :( )--but she had turned utterly rancid at least a decade ago. I think I tuned out around the 2012-13 area.
  2. The audience-member's story yesterday of stealing her co-worker's lunch every day for two months straight had me rolling. Particularly the ending when she said she went up to the woman on the woman's last day (I assume she left voluntarily??) and told her she was glad she was finally leaving because she was getting tired of eating goat cheese and crackers. 🤣
  3. I agree, it's a much better strategy to let her hang herself, so to speak. Today's show was only worth watching for the Eichner interview for me since I've been looking forward to Bros!
  4. I go back and forth on how Sunny interrupts Alyssa--on one hand it's not "right," on the other hand it makes me laugh, I admit--but I don't necessarily judge her for treating Alyssa as such. Whoopi's been treating Sunny that way for years and nobody's stopped it, and that's including today when she was being rude to Sunny over the married people giving advice to single people topic. And besides we already know all about Alyssa, I'm not going to pity her because she's getting iced out by someone on a talkshow. She signed a three-year contract a month ago, I believe. I think the only way anything would happen to her is if they decided to pay her out, the way they considered doing to Whoopi some years back, but I don't think things will ever get that bad that they'd actually do that. I imagine the people running this show like all these sparks Sunny's making, too... We know Teta has no standards.
  5. No, they didn't talk about that any today.
  6. I agree with Sunny that this being the first time Biden's said something a bit different, and after a rise in approval, does make you wonder about Garland's investigation. I did laugh when Whoopi somehow made Sunny's point about Nikki Haley into a dig at her (since her real name is Caryn).... To Alyssa's point about 'new blood'--this is the same chatter that always happens, that seldom ends up happening in reality. I think it's more a case of hoping so on her part more than anything (and for the obvious reason).
  7. I'd say Sunny is usually the least false on the panel when it comes to the political topics and the one most likely to bring info and statistics to the discussion rather than mere opinion. Liking her personality or her interpretation of the facts or not, she very seldom outright lies. Whereas Alyssa, I mean, it's really no contest that she's the most false co-host on the panel considering her particular history. If the co-hosts don't fact-check one another, nobody will. It's not like there's a referee off to the side who's going to enter the discussion and correct them instead. Alyssa could easily make an argument that isn't based in some degree of lies if she wanted to, she just chooses not to.
  8. I watched the show the other day for the interview with HRC and I got the giggles from how Barrymore was literally on her knees for 3-5 minutes there because she needed to pick up the questions from the popped balloons. I think they didn't think about that idea enough ahead of time. Barrymore is a sweetheart, I like that she doesn't put on airs or anything and is just herself that way.
  9. I don't think this has a topic already; I couldn't find one when searching. I think she's doing really well so far. The first episode was probably the weakest episode although I loved the interview with Simon, but I've enjoyed the rest of the episodes this week a lot more than I expected! Clearly she's imitating Ellen's show to degrees, dancing with the audience to begin with and channeling good vibes. Her theme song definitely nails that feeling, really fun to listen to. I imagine a lot of people thought she might imitate The Kelly Clarkson Show simply because of the Idol connection, but she's doing her own thing. So far, I think she's a better interviewer than Kelly simply because she lets the guest do most of the talking. The Viola Davis interview today was pretty fun, especially since I usually find Davis a little reserved in interviews, she seemed more open here than I expected. And the Yvonne Orji interview was straight up hilarious. I like the little stories we're getting about her and her family--seeing her sister who's a bus driver on the premiere, hearing about her job at Burger King, etc. The story where she named her pets different awards and the chipmunk named Tony gave me a good laugh.
  10. I actually had thought Sunny's hair looked really nice today since she had it up. Like so many others, I didn't think it looked great the past week and a half, so I was glad she put it up. It may have still been parted in the center though, I don't know. I thought today's show was fun, particularly the segment where Sunny ended up talking about explicit pictures she's received online or via text, whatever, lol. As far as the first segment--I get why Sara asked Sunny to let Alyssa speak, but also understood where Sunny was coming from about wanting to correct misinformation, because Alyssa seemed like she was just straight lying there. (Shocker.) I don't buy that she didn't know the Proud Boys comment in the debate was a big deal back when it happened considering how big it was in the media, more she just didn't care then and this is one of those little things she'd like to whitewash about herself.
  11. The Kevin Smith interview showcased how strict they are to the questions, because he kept talking and talking and talking at the beginning, you could see how all their eyes were shifting back and forth that they worried they wouldn't be able to get through the many fodder questions they're supposed to ask. Today's show was meh. Overall, a boring week other than yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow will be more fun. But, yes, Joy has been looking great the past two week with all the outfits! I think today was the first time I paid attention to the new chairs, just because Sunny reached out to hold Joy when she was sitting down after showing off her jeans for Whoopi. The seats look higher than the ones last season, but less comfortable without the cushion. Don't know if they're supposed to be more "safe" somehow, they don't look it to me. Very spindly.
  12. My impression was the former, but then Whoopi interrupted her because I believe she (Whoopi) either thought that was a bad example or that she wrongly believed Sunny was disagreeing with Sara. My opinion was that Sunny was arguing with Sara over what Sara had said just before, about how she (Sara) believes in some limitations. Sunny was giving an example of someone who might hypothetically have sought an abortion after some time had passed (ie, their partner left them, they have multiple children already and wouldn't be able to afford another child as a single parent), as an example for why there are other cases besides life of the mother why that might have happened.
  13. Considering her point was about how these stories of women who are forced by the government to carry a dead fetus to term and so on weren't happening before Roe was overturned, she was correct. They were not happening before.
  14. Yes, what Haleth said, she tried to divert the conversation away. And then at the end when Alyssa was trying to justify why the states should be in charge of what happens even despite what Sunny had said about it being naive to expect people to simply do the right thing for other people's welfare, Whoopi pointed out how things were fine before Alyssa's side decided to insert themselves in everybody's business. Joy is right to warn that they'll enact a federal ban next if they win. Unfortunately, I think many people in younger generations have viewed this issue with blinders on for a long time because they didn't live pre-Roe as people like Whoopi and Joy have. I think that's where most of the shock came from when it was overturned, that group didn't believe the warnings were based in reality before it started to happen. The veil has been lifted.
  15. Whoopi's having absolutely none of Alyssa's shit right now. Love it!
  16. Sort of a nothing show today, but I liked that Sara made sure she got to speak. Not that Sunny trying to interrupt and shut her down helped matters--and I agreed with Sara, personally. No way Sunny will ever be like McCain, but you would think she more than anybody else there wouldn't do that to others since I'm sure she doesn't enjoy it when Whoopi does it to her.
  17. I did fast forward to watch the second segment since the Supreme Court topic was introduced in the opening. I thought it was sad that Sara didn't get a chance to speak... I would've much rather heard her thoughts than Alyssa or Whoopi. But the segment was pretty dull and lifeless overall, tbh. If Joy had been there, there would've been fire on that topic. I don't get why they don't rotate the day off anyway. Especially since Whoopi talked on the first day last week about how much they all "needed" that break, lol, maybe a day off for everyone once a month would be good for them.
  18. She is all these things though, it's not like she's faking her identity...? There's also her grandfather who was Jewish that she's brought up on the show before. Btw, I don't know if anyone else might've seen it, but Sunny Hostin had a video appearance encouraging Notre Dame on College Bowl (a game show where students compete for scholarships, I believe) last night.
  19. No, she didn't. When she first responded to Sara, she outright said the first part of that tweet wasn't wrong.
  20. I don't think Sunny is nuts, I often agree with her strongly on many things, it's just sometimes she takes a nitpick and then sucks the whole topic down a whirlpool in her refusal to be disagreed with. That latter part is what gets annoying. She almost did it with the royals discussion when they were talking about the empire aspect of the monarchy, only to narrowly avoid it--and then she turned around and managed to do it anyway by zeroing in on Camila and the adultery instead, lol. I thought I agreed with Sunny more on the relationship topics than I think I do now if she really thinks you should stay married even if you're cheating on the side... I don't agree with that at all. I do think adultery is very wrong and cruel, but I put the blame on the husband. I think a person who can find a way to forgive adultery and stay is a very strong person; that said, if you want them just to stay married with you even though they're still cheating on the side, I don't get that. With Ana, it's more the petty little comments in Hot Topics and the questions that take 50 minutes for her to get out during the interviews. Sunny was very explicit that the second half of the tweet was wrong, it was the first part of the tweet that she pointed out is true. I agreed with Sara that the second half of the tweet is so gross and reprehensible, but one person's grossness doesn't un-prove a point that is technically true. Still, I was with Joy that Elizabeth didn't have the kind of power people before her had that Sunny was insinuating even though the monarchy itself has that history, and that she was merely a figurehead in most ways.
  21. Sunny and Ana were both awful today. Alyssa was awful yesterday. Whoopi was awful the first day back. Joy's "For God's sake" after Ana and Sunny finally shut up in that ghosting topic said it all. And Ana was utterly ridiculous during the interview. But I did laugh at Joy mocking DeSantis for not being able to handle "the likes of Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines" when they started, lmao. I can only guess how bad Monday's going to be when you add Whoopi and subtract Joy. Love Sara, but she can't carry a show alone. With Sunny and Ana, half the time they're annoying af now, you can't bet on the show to be any good by them being there anymore because it can go either way with them these days. I don't full on hate them, but, jeez, they are becoming so tiresome...
  22. I agree with Sara. Questioning the results isn't a crime and neither is challenging an election via a lawsuit, that is every candidate's right. It's the refusing to concede, refusing to accept the results after the lawsuit is over and you lost, encouraging violence to overthrow and murder Congress, wanting the Speaker of the House and Vice-President to be killed, etc. etc. that's the danger, and, as Whoopi said, comparing that to Gore or HRC is comparing "apples to basketballs," lol. But I will correct one thing Sara said, as far as HRC "challenging" the election. Hillary didn't challenge the election outright the way Trump did even though she questioned the results in comments afterwards. Jill Stein is the one who instigated recounts, not Hillary Clinton. Hillary conceded the morning after the election...
  23. I so agreed with Sara on this point when she was saying people who go into public service (like social workers, teachers, nurses, what have you) should be able to get reduced loan debt and/or lower interest rates even more than other professions.
  24. I'd thought Joy had lost weight before she said so, she looked nice. Her hair was done more like it was in the early years, same shape and not as bright red. A pretty good return show, I thought! Probably the worst part was the end when Sunny was talking about her husband used some nice towel Sunny owns to wipe up dog urine and Whoopi took the husband's side (as always when it comes to Sunny), and even suggested she could still use the towel... She has to be at odds with Sunny on everything to the point she just sounds stupid sometimes.
  25. Looking forward to Wednesday. I would look forward to Regina Hall, but I know the co-hosts will make Will Smith the topic for 70% of her time there instead of giving the attention to her. 🙄
