  1. Has anyone been watching the non-English language mystery series Netflix has added? I loved The Chalet and am currently enjoying season 2 of Black Spot. High Seas is next on my list.
  2. I had no idea this was coming back and had no plans to watch it, but The Ringer's write-up of the first episode makes it sound amazing. I just wish it wasn't on Facebook.
  3. I know the subplots with the teachers haven't always been great, but I love that there haven't been any episodes where they're competing over guys or worrying about their biological clocks or whatnot. The actresses are appealing even when their stories aren't and I like that the characters support each other. I also appreciate that the cast look like regular people. It's refreshing to see some variety after watching so many other shows where everyone is uniformly sleek. I just finished catching up on season 2 and I'll be sad if tonight is the last we see of this series.
  4. I agree that Murphy and her various issues are among the least enjoyable parts of the show. I'm more interested in the relationship between Jules and Darnell at this point than the one between Murphy and Max, whose actor I find bland and the character he's playing irritating. The hangout scenes, like the ones with Jess and Felix in the latest episode, sometimes don't flow well with the crime drama parts. The tonal shifts can be hard to adjust to. Also, there have been a few times when characters undress/have sex in brightly lit rooms with uncovered windows. What's up with that?
  5. Yes, I think so. I don't know how sustainable their solution is, but I was happy to see that Karl was doing better, as evidenced by his clean apartment and the adorable and affectionate kitty he was cuddling. And I was already a fan of Mackie and Beharie, but Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was new to me and wow is he charismatic. I'm looking forward to seeing him in more stuff.
  6. WarnerMedia Streaming to Launch Late This Year at $16 a Mo. (and Yes, It's Absolutely Worth It) I wasn't planning on subscribing to yet another streaming service, but the fact that it includes both HBO and Cinemax might make me reconsider.
  7. I just finished watching episode 6 and am very happy with this season, especially the final scene which I loved. And I'm hopeful we'll get a 6th season since there are a few plot threads left unresolved.
  8. ‘Punky Brewster’ Reboot Starring Soleil Moon Frye In Works At UCP I loved Punky Brewster when I was a kid and might check this out, but I'm surprised there was enough interest to get this off the ground.
  9. Seasons 1 & 2 of Shetland are going to be available on Britbox by the end of the month. I guess that's why they disappeared from Netflix ☹️
  10. I finally managed to catch season 2 of this on DVD and am even sadder now that we won't get a season 3. Having said that, I do think killing off Ozzie was a big loss for the show. He was a great counterbalance to the other characters and all the nutty goings-on. And the reveal of his relationship with Walsh was surprisingly sweet.
  11. Having just watched the 5th episode, I feel bad about being down on this season early on because it's shaping up to be another excellent outing. I was happy to see
  12. Julianna Margulies Says CBS Tried to Blame Her After She Discussed The Good Fight’s Cameo Dispute
  13. I didn't think that was what they were getting at during the scene with Macy reading Harry's mind, but their last conversation at the cemetery definitely seemed to point in that direction. I agree with a lot of the comments here that it was rushed (as was so much of this season) and that diluted the impact of what should have been big moments, but I still enjoyed it enough to keep watching next season.
  14. I want to like this show because the set-up is right up my alley, but I only made it a few episodes into the previous 2 seasons. I did watch all of season 3, but that was due more to inertia rather than enjoyment. Most of the characters are awful, the acting across the board is not great, and there are a lot of eye roll-worthy developments. That's not unusual in the horror genre, though, and I was curious enough about the ending to keep going so that's something.
  15. I subscribed to BritBox just so I could watch the latest season. I'm 2 episodes in and liking it as always, though not as much as last season because it feels a bit scattered to me at the moment. I'm disappointed that they seem to have dropped the thread from season 4 I really appreciate that this show has managed to keep its core cast (minus the dog from earlier seasons ☹️), and that there's no sexual tension or contrived frictions between the members of the team. ETA (season 4 spoiler):
  16. As someone who didn't enjoy the final episode, this was satisfying to watch.
  17. I enjoy this show and hope the newest season makes it to Netflix soon! I didn't like how Sid was written out by having him spend a year in jail for a crime he didn't commit. I didn't think it fit with the cozy vibe of the show and was especially awful to see happen to IMO the most likable member of the team. Bunty is ok, but I much prefer Sid and Lady Felicia.
  18. I think it was Dina comparing it to how if someone was found out after sneaking into a theater, they wouldn't be allowed to stay and watch the rest of the movie. Then a few of the others jumped in: What if you were born in the theater, what if your parents brought you to the theater when you were little, etc. These episodes were definitely a step up from some of the more recent ones. Having been forced to endure something similar, I enjoyed the anti-union video Amy made them watch and everyone getting weirded out by the cloud and its pregnant partner. And the moment afterwards when Amy blurted out that she wasn't planning to have any more kids followed by Jonah's surprise and the stammering back-and-forth between them felt painfully real.
  19. I don't have cable, so was excited to find L&O on the Bounce channel today now that Escape has stopped airing it. And according to Uproxx, it's going to be available on NBCUniversal's free, ad-supported streaming service next year! 🙌
  20. Where All Your Favorite TV Shows Will End Up at the End of the Streaming Wars Ugh. But at least I'll finally be able to stream Law & Order again--and for free! Though who knows how long the free part will last.
  21. I was so happy to find out that the show's available to stream on CW Seed. I rewatched the pilot the other day and remembered how much I loved it. I still laugh whenever I think about Chi McBride getting angry at Ned for keeping Chuck alive past the 1-minute mark. Emerson: Well, who died instead? Ned: It's a random proximity thing. Emerson: Bitch, I was in proximity!
  22. I've really enjoyed The Ringer's coverage of the show. Mallory Rubin's distress over the fates of the direwolves and dragons is endearing, and her co-host Jason Concepcion is equally delightful. Most importantly, they really know their stuff. I don't know what The Ringer's going once the show ends since like 30% of their content seems to be GoT-related.
  23. Thanks so much for introducing me to this YouTuber! It looks like she's started doing more of these MSW videos since the first ones were so popular and I was so excited to see a new one posted yesterday. That's how I get my MSW fix since it's not streaming on any of the services I'm subscribed to. I'm hoping the Escape channel or H&I starts showing it one of these days.
