  1. This episode had a lot of good stuff: "I hate seeing her go, but I love watching her butt." The "Smaisle and stay awhaisle" sign Sandra's cat and her love-hate relationship with Dinah The non-verbal communication between Jonah and Amy. I found the scene where Amy nails Glenn with a potato especially satisfying because he's my least favorite and I still find the voice he uses for the character so grating But I could've done without that scene.
  2. I didn't notice Rahul continuing to work on his technical challenge bake after time was called, but apparently plenty of other people did: (**FYI: article includes spoiler for winner**) This Great British Baking Show Scandal Is Tearing England Apart
  3. Did I miss some Nico scenes in previous episodes? Because I don't know anything about him except that he showed up at the same time as Linc and is strangely attracted to Glasses.
  4. I wasn't paying close attention to the Danny parts of this episode because that subplot annoys me, but it's weird to me that Olive seems more invested in spending time with him than with her father or brother (who just got home from the hospital after almost dying and is still at risk). I get that she and Danny probably had a routine and are working towards a goal, but still. Saanvi and Ben are a fun pairing but need to work on their investigation skills. They just outright accused Fiona of wrongdoing, revealed that some of the passengers have been having visions and hearing things, and that they knew about the government's involvement. As people here have already pointed out, the writers are moving the plot along absurdly fast, which is also reflected in how quickly Ben got hired, got to the data he needed, and then lost it. Yes, it doesn't strike me as great IT practice to have the code needed to access secure data printed on a prominently worn badge. And I laughed at how no one in the office kitchen seemed to notice Ben nuking his badge and the ensuing sparks, and all the goofy computer-related stuff. I liked that Michaela didn't lie when Evie's mom asked where she was and instead said that wherever Evie was, she was ok.
  5. Fortitude season 3 trailer on Twitter and more details about the various plots from RadioTimes. I'm still surprised by how much of the cast they got to come back, especially Dennis Quaid. I'm just hoping things work out for beleaguered scientists Natalie and Vincent.
  6. I teared up when we heard from Rahul's friends: "My life would be a lot poorer if I hadn't met Rahul." What a lovely thing to say about someone. It must be rough for him to live so far from his family, but he is indeed lucky to have such people in his life. The clips at the end with his parents were very sweet. I give Rahul a lot of credit for recovering as well as he did from the jar exploding. When the crew asked what ingredients they should keep, he didn't dither and immediately suggested they just get rid of everything. It also looked like he had to spend his additional 15 minutes with everyone watching him, which must've added even more pressure to an already nerve wracking situation. I also had a good laugh when Noel asked him what word he would use to describe himself, and Rahul came back right away with "depressing." The peeks we got of Kim-Joy's home baking were so impressive. I'm tempted to join Instagram just so I can follow what she does. And I'm so glad we got to see Terry looking well and enjoying himself in the post-Bake Off scenes since he wasn't at the finale.
  7. I laughed when Ruby said at least she wasn't the worst Indian in the tent after the results of the naan technical challenge, but poor Antony. He seems like such a lovely, fun person and I wish he hadn't been knocked out so soon. I wasn't sure about Karen after the first episode, but (as someone who's more Rahul-like) the way she's so unapologetic and relatively breezy about everything is refreshing. I wasn't a fan of Noel's new hairstyle in the first episode and it's taken me a while to get used to his latest look, but at least it seems to suit his style better. I also appreciated his comment that he learns a lot during the show but forgets it all shortly after because I'm the same.
  8. Gina Gershon? She also kind of reminds me of Jameela Jamil.
  9. I mistook Ruby for the actress Charlotte Riley when I first saw her. I'm so happy they've made this available on Netflix US so soon after it finished airing in the UK (though, sadly, not before I accidentally spoiled myself by visiting the Guardian website and seeing a headline that revealed the winner). I agree with the early favorites others here have listed: Briony, Manon, Antony, Terry, and Rahul. I also liked Imelda and am sorry she was the first to go, especially since she seemed to take it so hard. I miss Noel's old hairstyle. I don't think his new do does him any favors.
  10. I would've given up on this series by now if it weren't for this forum. This has become one of the few shows I look forward to watching every week because of how much I enjoy reading everyone's comments on the ridiculousness. And I always feel like kind of a jerk for criticizing a kid, but the young actor playing Cal isn't impressing me in this role. When I don't find him unconvincing (which is most of the time), the character is mildly irritating. And I know Olive's actor is a few years older, but by contrast, she's one of the few standouts in the cast.
  11. I thought it was out of character for Mateo to accept the outcome of the contest that readily. He would've demanded a recount. I liked the throwaway gag of the customer dressed as a ghost unable to activate the automatic doors.
  12. They got me! I flinched and may even have yelped. I hope the movie lives up to the trailer.
  13. I'm glad I didn't read much about this movie before seeing it. I thought the filmmakers did a great job of gradually revealing details. Somehow, the one that stunned me the most was finding out that the brothers all being adopted into families with older, adopted sisters of about the same age was by design. The calculation and planning involved in the whole thing is hard to believe. There's so much to take in with this story that one of the brother's involvement (although it was apparently tangential) in a murder case was only briefly covered in a throwaway scene.
  14. It sounds like Roseanne's dismissal has turned away some viewers, but that's what got me to check it out. I have fond memories of the original show, but had no interest in watching the revival because of Roseanne's involvement. I tuned in last night out of curiosity and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. As others have said, there are some rough bits (particularly with the kids), but I'm really interested in seeing where they go with the adult characters post-Roseanne. I had forgotten how grating laugh tracks can be, though, so that'll take some getting used to.
  15. This episode was impressive on a technical level, but finally getting the whole family together also made for really compelling tv. And to close it out with another gut punch of an ending with little Nell in the past crying about how she had been in the room with her family unable to see her while present-day Nell in the form of bent-neck lady can only watch as her family walks away from her coffin...oof, that got me teary-eyed.
  16. A dark specter with an unsettling silhouette has haunted Nell since she was a girl. Now "the Bent-Neck Lady" is back -- and she's calling Nell home. Poor Nell! I feel like I should've seen the ending coming, but I was so wrapped up in watching her story unfold that I wasn't thinking ahead. Victoria Pedretti is amazing in the role. Even though her romance with Arthur didn't get much time, I thought they did a great job selling the relationship and his importance as one of the few people to listen to her, which made his death all the more heartbreaking.
  17. I'm surprised the relationship between Matthew and Diana is developing so quickly, but with only 8 episodes, I guess they had to push them together. I haven't read the books, but I hope the story picks up and the characters get more interesting because I'm finding the show just ok so far.
  18. It's too bad that he plays such a big role in the Toy Story movies. Someone (in another thread here, I think) suggested that Patrick Warburton would have made a good Buzz LIghtyear, and now I'm even more bummed we're stuck with Allen because I think Warburton could've done it at least as well. Allen has also made it hard for me to rewatch Galaxy Quest, curse him!
  19. It's been a while since I watched it, but for a long time I would fall asleep to the British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances. There was something comforting about a world where the worst thing is a snobby, pushy, but fundamentally decent, neighbor.
  20. I saw the painfully tense opening scene on YouTube and got hooked immediately. I couldn't resist reading some recaps because I figured it might be a long time before the show is available in the US, but have so far managed to avoid learning anything about the finale. I'm so excited it's coming to Netflix so soon!
  21. Michael answered questions on Reddit and said that it was a first (though an audience member proposed a few years ago). Everyone on that thread seemed to enjoy the moment, so I'm happy to find some kindred spirits here because I did not.
  22. I couldn't believe that it never even seemed to occur to Eddie that Jon may have known about his affair with Delilah, even after he found out that Jon's last phone call was to him. I know a few people have mentioned how guilty the two of them must feel, but (unless I missed something) I didn't see much--if any--guilt on Eddie's part. He was texting Delilah that he loved her and needed to see her right after the funeral! Ugh. I've enjoyed Grace Park in other roles and I agree with others that I don't like how the show is currently portraying her, but her line about how Jon treated her as part of the group does suggest they'll do more with her. I thought it was Gary who said that, but I could be wrong. Gary was sometimes obnoxious, but the scene at the game where he shared his fears and supported Rome was nice. The only ones I actually like so far are Rome and Regina. I don't think anyone's mentioned when Rome is about to take the pills, but can't bring himself to drink tap water after hearing the news report on Flint. I've been near the brink before and know my thinking was similarly disordered, so I liked that detail. I'm not a fan of the "everything happens for a reason" school of thinking, though, but may give it another few episodes to see where things go.
  23. I was wondering the same thing about the research. Did it get emailed somehow? Did the "force" or whatever cause it to be sent? Yeah, I just hope it's a plot hole rather than the show adding Medical Drama to its résumé. Since she specified that she had been trying to pull her research from the portal, I figured it was in the cloud storage of whatever org she works for and her colleagues were able to get access to it after she went missing. I also thought Grace's reluctance to admit that she's moved on has at least as much to do with her fear over how her son will react as it is over how Ben might. Apart from Saanvi, I don't find any of the characters/actors very interesting or appealing. But the plot has potential and pilots can be rough, so I'll give it a few more episodes.
  24. I remember reading the Guardian recaps when the show was first airing in the UK, and being surprised at the amount of hate she got in the comments. I don't dislike Stacey, but I think she's my least favorite contestant this season. She just gets so intense about everything. Other bakers would also get stressed because of time pressures or mistakes, but Stacey seemed to become so frantic that it made it hard for me to enjoy watching. I also wasn't a fan of the bright colors she favored.
  25. It looks like he did (in addition to co-writing/co-producing some of the songs): https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/lady-gaga-bradley-cooper-star-is-born-soundtrack-717409/
