  1. That's why it's fascinating that he's playing Oscar. It's about as far removed from Chandler as you can get!
  2. Hmm -- interesting that Matthew Perry is the one playing Oscar. That's about as far removed from Chandler Bing as you can get!
  3. Well, you know what they say -- if the boat's a-rocking, don't come a-knocking! ;-)
  4. Regina figured it out from the specific mention that Rumpel made in the letter of having found Cora's firstborn child (the one he never knew existed because he didn't meet Cora until after Zelena had been abandoned) and that said child was potentially even more powerful than Cora. It corroborated what Zelena had already told her.
  5. That's even worse, if true, because it makes even less sense. Sure, recast the role if necessary, but change the character's gender and backstory? Even Bewitched didn't go that far when it recast Darrin after Dick York left due to health issues!
  6. ¡Bienvenida al foro, pues, RadioGirl27! (Welcome to the forum!) :)
  7. It helps if you've actually bothered to learn something of the language and something about the culture before you go there. Two of the reasons that I had such an enjoyable experience with the locals in Rome on my two visits there a few years ago were that I speak Italian (which absolutely knocked them out, as they're not used to Americans knowing their language) and knew something of the history and culture of the city and the people before I ever set foot there. In fact, even though I got lost more often than I really care to admit, one of the things that I loved about the Romans was that I could pretty much ask anyone for directions and they not only knew exactly how I could get to where I wanted to go, but were very glad to help me do so, and I think it's because they were pleasantly surprised to meet an American who understood and lived the Italian concept of paese che vai, usanze che trovi (literally "country you go to, customs you find" -- or in other words, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do").
  8. Not to worry - I haven't crossed the town border in years!
  9. LOL Fortunately, I'd have him too busy doing naughty things to me in bed for him to ever have a chance to speak -- and men aren't really known for being talkers in bed anyway (we tend to say stupid stuff that always gets us into trouble), so I wouldn't know him from a dickweed in any event!
  10. I'm not actually from Arizona, Cindy, I've just been living here for the past ten years. I'm originally from Northern Utah. I did, however, spend 15 years in Canton, Ohio, two years in New York City, and one year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, so I do know from the double whammy of heat and severe humidity during the summer (as well as bone-chilling temperatures and snow in the winter!). I'll take 106 in Arizona in June any day, although the pollen count does seem to be up this year; I've been sneezing so much for the past month or so that I could give Sneezy a run for his money!
  11. Cindy, no matter how old he gets, he'll always be the infant that you held in your arms 18 years ago. That's just how mothers are (I'm 53, and my own mother still sees me that way!). And you know something? He may roll his eyes about it now, but one day, he'll get why you feel that way about him, just as I do with my own mother.
  12. No kidding. They couldn't have cut ONE pointless musical number for this?
  13. The heat, yes, but humidity is non-existent here in Arizona, so I don't have to put up with that, thankfully. My sinuses would make my summer a living Hell if I did, especially in July and August!
  14. By the way, did anyone else notice that the In Memoriam segment was missing from the telecast last night? Here it is. I had forgotten how many talented people left us during the previous twelve months.
  15. Not that it really matters. Shows of this genre don't exist as far as Emmy is concerned, especially if they don't air on HBO or Showtime. Therefore, it wouldn't matter whether the submission were for one episode or the season of work as a whole -- I'd be shocked if any of the cast even got nominated, much less won.
  16. No new episode tonight because of the interview with Hillary Rodham Clinton. That's probably why we had two episodes last week and are just having a short catch-up special tonight.
  17. Actually, as someone who grew up in the 70s (Class of 1979 here), I'd have to agree with you for the most part about 70s fashions, especially the hair. The leisure suit in particular is something that I'm glad never really came back, even though men in particular have kept the suit and open-necked dress shirt concept going for at least a good ten years now. Few men really could pull off the classic leisure suit, in my opinion. But I'd still say that the 80s wins the award for worst fashion trends of all time. Only the sloppy, unkempt look of the past 20 years matches it in terms of hideousness. I mean, I grew up being taught that combing my hair, tucking in my shirts, shaving, and not having my underwear show through my clothes (I detest seeing undershirts showing through a shirt -- to me, that's as unsightly as a bra strap that's showing) were all good things!
  18. There's "non-traditional" and there's completely nonsensical. There is no way that Enjolras would have been a black man during the 1832 Paris revolution for the simple reason that blacks were almost non-existent in the Paris of that time period, and even if they hadn't been, they would not have been part of the revolution because they would have been considered property at best (even though slavery didn't exist in France), not persons with the same claim to equality as everyone else. If you're going to do color-blind casting, do it in a way that makes sense within the context of the story and isn't going to take me completely out of the performance. Don't do it just to be hip, edgy, and politically correct.
  19. This is why we refer to the 80s as "The Decade that Fashion Forgot."
  20. Yes, according to Wikipedia, the scar is simply left to the audience's imagination; it's never actually shown by the use of makeup. The only Eponine I've ever cared for was Lea Salonga's in the tenth-anniversary "Dream Cast" production that was done at Royal Albert Hall in 1995. She owned that part just as Colm Wilkerson was (and to me, still is) the definitive Jean Valjean. And while we're on the subject of WTF casting choices for Les Miserables, a black Enjolras? Really?
  21. Oh, I don't know. I certainly wouldn't kick him out of bed -- but the scruff has to go. It makes him look a good ten years older than he needs to, and I think it would bring out his eyes better if he were clean-shaven.
  22. He looks all of about 24. This is why I've never been a fan of facial hair on men -- it tends to age them, and I prefer the youthful look on a man's face. Come on, Colin -- let's see what a clean-shaven heroic Hook would be like. Talk about a return to good form!
  23. I'm not surprised. My understanding was that they had planned to retire from competitive ice dancing after the Olympics in order to finish their respective college educations, which is why I had never expected them to do DWTS in the first place, even though they were on my celebrity wish list.
