S06.E18: Himalayan Dog Chew, Lip Bar, BevBoy, FunBites
jcbrown replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Shark Tank
Agreed. And if your kid will only eat things cut into small squares or triangles and you are unable to figure out that the knife you already own will do that task perfectly well, you deserve to waste your money on the stupid FunBites thing or whatever it was called. -
I always want to see the team they did not pick, too. Every episode so far, that has been the case. I watched the beginning of this one, read the comments here to see they did not improve from their assholery in the beginning, and fast forwarded through the rest of the episode. Blech.

The fringe placement on Dmitry's dress would make anyone who is not a stick-thin model look hippy, I thought. Still happy he is in the finale and I'll be fine if either he or Sonjia wins. I cannot abide Helen, however. "Oh, shut up!" was all I could say when she started fake-crying at the end. Michelle should have just ignored her.

S06.E17: Fresh Patch, Balm Chicky, Drain Strain, BedJet
jcbrown replied to yeswedo's topic in Shark Tank
I have never had anyone ask to use my lip balm and I would say no if they did! The only person I would consider sharing with is my husband. Agree that this is a solution in search of a problem. -

Yes, yes he did. I can only think that he disliked her even more than we do. Hard to imagine! -
Ellen's Design Challenge - General Discussion
jcbrown replied to selhars's topic in Ellen's Design Challenge
I was hoping for Gaspar's to win. And I totally agree both about Katie's voice and that godawful get-up at judging. A car-wash poncho? Buh-bye, icky Leslie. -
Agreed that the Duggars have zero emotional intelligence. These are the people who think it is funny to pretend to drop babies, after all. Or who stand back and laugh at their daughter when her head is stuck in the balusters (MEchelle). Or who video their son after he has fallen in an orchestra pit. Almost sociopathic in MEchelle's case, actually. And good grief, I just looked at Derick's Twitter. What a collection of religious claptrap. I liked him better before I read all that.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
jcbrown replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
I have only sen those spots in Iowa when we visited friends and I found them sort of insulting. I do not and will never have kids but if you need a handicapped permit, get one, and if you are just pregnant, get over yourself. Others MMV. -
That's the part that befuddles me about that post. So being pro-choice means you abort every pregnancy? I am extremely pro-choice and that makes no sense to me.

I watched a Chopped Canada episode recently and good grief is Dean terrible. Especially if you watch the American show, Dean is a stilted mess. You can almost see him reading the teleprompter. "So, let's talk about x dish. So, let's talk about y dish. So, let's talk about z dish" Part of it may be that the script is so repetitive but Dean brings nothing to it.

Yes! Thank you for identifying who he reminds me of! I think much of this was because she did a high-waisted pencil skirt with a cropped top, two things that only .0002% of the adult woman population is going to look good in, especially together.

Agreed. I also think that requesting nothing ever combined before would be more than dangerous with this crew and the judges have a bit more self-preservation than that.

House Hunters Renovation - General Discussion
jcbrown replied to MsChicklet's topic in House Hunters Renovation
I didn't mind the Walpole, MA couple but I thought it was bizarre that they selected stainless appliance and brass hardware. Though we have been making a concerted effort to de-brass-ify our c1985 condo so I do start to twitch when I see brass. -
I liked her more here than I used to, actually. She seems to be letting up a tiny bit, albeit a tiny bit for a control freak still leaves you with a control freak (I speak as one, myself). I actually kind of loved Maddie's non-stop efforts to push her mother's buttons. That kid is pretty smart, methinks. I think the kids are all gorgeous.

I'm sure this is not news to most, but Yaya from Cycle 3 is starring in the Whitney Houston movie on Lifetime tonight.

S06.E14: Scratch and Grain, Bottle Bright, Vestpakz, EvRewares
jcbrown replied to yeswedo's topic in Shark Tank
I am emphatically not the market for the dimwits with the cookie mix--I have no fewer than eight or nine different flours in my kitchen at any one time and am a serious baker and a serious cook. I can make cookies in less than three hours because I am not a moron. So yes, I am not their demographic, but I am still offended at the number of people today trying to peddle things to make cooking seem so onerous and hard. I just hate this kind of crap. This episode was full of losers, no? -
The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah
jcbrown replied to SpaghettiTuesdays's topic in Counting On
Let's not rule out that those may not be mutually exclusive. Boob, for example, is both loud and dull (and dim). I feel for Jana, as I do for many of the kids, for the stifled potential. Boob and MEchelle had 19 kids for the sole purpose of turning them into automatons and it appears to us that they may have succeeded with Jana, though she still shows the glimmer of that stifling from time to time. It's just all unbearably sad if you think about it too much. -
I've only watched Monday and Tuesday of this week so far but I think they have had good luck with guest stars. Looking forward to making a whole week without a Nene Leakes or her ilk! (fingers crossed)

stewedsquash, I have always used Emeril's recipes for red beans and rice with great success. A good example is http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/new-orleans-style-red-beans-and-rice-recipe.html

You know, I dropped an earring on the floor recently and asked my cat where it was and she went right to it. Perhaps I should pray to her. Obviously, I'm not religious, either. These people make me stabby with their willfully ignorant holier-than-thou prostelytizing and their wasting money on trips to convert the poor heathen natives that could be used actually, you know, helping them.

Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta - General Discussion
jcbrown replied to ShaNaeNae's topic in Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta
I thought the expensive "custom" dress Morgan DuckLips ended up with was indistinguishable from the others she tried on. As a general comment, why do so many women think the style where the dress hugs your butt and flares at mid-thigh is attractive? If you are stick-thin, then maybe, but anyone built like a woman ends up emphasizing their hips in a way that, to my eye, is just not flattering. I would not sign up for a dress that made me feel like I had to suck it in for the duration of the ceremony and reception. -
Good to know, Irlandesa. I was wondering about that recipe because I like butternut squash and adore mac and cheese. Thanks for the review!

They were looking in some suburb whose name combined "Atlanta" and "Decatur." They were heinous--her, especially.

S15.E13: The Greater Good
jcbrown replied to ottoDbusdriver's topic in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation [V]
When oh when will we finally be done with this snoozefest of a storyline? CSI has had some lame season-long arcs in the past but this is the lamest. -
Sounds exactly as I remember it, then. The horror show they made out of that bathroom--let alone the rest of the place--was beyond belief.
