  1. When we lived in San Francisco we could play "spot the tourists" in July. They were the ones either shivering or shivering and wearing shorts with a novelty sweatshirt they'd just purchased. San Francisco in July is not warm.
  2. I wonder who took the photos? She didn't have to have chaperones on their dates, I hope?
  3. I'm kind of sad about Ciao House not coming back. I thought it seemed like it hit its stride last season. I liked Next Baking Master Paris okay but liked Ciao House better. If you have not dipped into the Great British Bake Off you are in for a real treat. They do not vote each other off, no. It is a gentle wonderful show with talented people doing things well.
  4. I knew there was no way they were kicking off the vegans before they have a chance to gross them out by making them cook meat (which they should absolutely expect to happen). Agreed that vegans and the burger duo got lucky when the other team served scallops cooked to rubber bands and potentially lethal mussels.
  5. I hope you love it!
  6. I just fast forwarded through the last few episodes of BDDU before watching this premiere so my standards were low. By comparison, I enjoyed it.
  7. Ooooh, if you want to splurge, buy pineapple from Maui Gold and they'll ship it to you. So much sweeter than supermarket pineapple. I have a subscription. 😅 We've toured them twice and they actually do ship higher sugar content ones direct to consumer, as opposed to the ones they ship to stores. We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic. I have loved watching The dish with Kish this season. Kristin and her friends all look like they are having fun. Looking forward to seeing her with Gregory again next week.
  8. I want this to be an actual word that you coined. Never heard it before but it is perfect. If it is a typo I think you should stick with it.
  9. Good for Joy! That's what I say, not what Boob would say.
  10. I thought Massimo foraged some mustard, too. I'm going to miss him, which I did not expect until he was eliminated.
  11. Agreed--I make a sort of bruschetta on occasion with toasted bread broiled with gorgonzola and honey on it and it is fantastic.
  12. I was out of the country when this aired so I tried to watch the finale last night. Three times. Kept going to sleep. Got up this morning and still did not remember who won until I checked here. That pretty much sums up this season for me. And I think this is a big reason the season did not land for me. It seemed tailored for social media rather than being about baking. So many dumb challenges. Who wants to eat something that glows in the dark? Why is a Marie Antoinette hairstyle cake even a thing?
  13. Late to the party, but I've had surgery on both knees (though no replacements...yet) and my insurance paid for the ice machine for apres surgery. It really helped me so you may want to see if insurance will cover all or some of it.
  14. I liked most of the British episode this time but that puppet was beyond stupid. As stupid as the ghost groom--that is a hard level of stupidity to beat. I wish they would ditch the wacky hijinks.
  15. I only this season realized that Britt used to be head chef in a restaurant a mile or so from me that I went to several times, including when she won Chopped. I only just recently put together that she was the same person. She left Silicon Valley around the time she won Chopped. I also love Sara Bradley and I agree with everything you said. And I have said earlier in this thread, though less eloquently than you, that I just do not get Guy's blind spot regarding his eldest. Not just here, but whenever he shows on on GGG or on Guy's Ranch Kitchen (displacing an actual talented chef by his presence). I just don't get it. Stop trying to make Hunter happen, Guy. This is not his path.
  16. Oh, I am envious of you getting to see that show for the first time. It really is my happy place. I also watch the holiday episodes every year--all of them, even the ones I've seen. I hope you love it.
  17. Stick with it until the "Long Long Time" episode. Tune out the gore up to then. That episode is amazing.
  18. Season 1 is absolutely amazing. It has an episode that I still return to when I want to feel All the Feels. I do not do horror movies or zombies or any of that, either.
  19. Oh I totally agree, plus I think she is likely something of an introvert and we don't always come across well on screen. I thought it was fun to see her cut loose with Kristen.
  20. That was a delightful episode. I find that Mei Lin can skew kind of dour on screen sometimes but she and Kristen were terrific together.
  21. Someone should have taught NB bride Kevin how to hold up a skirt when you walk. Pro tip: you don't hold it up from your waist.
  22. That really is the best new of the year so far. Shirley looks great with short hair and I'm so glad to see her out and about. (And that restaurant is like 2 miles from my house so I will definitely be trying it after the dust settles a bit.)
  23. Well that sounds delightful! Thanks @Notabugfor sharing your expertise.
  24. Thanks for the Shirley updates. Somehow I missed them before asking about them in the other thread. As I mentioned over there, I find House of Knives to be kind of hard to watch, as it feature Shirley before she knew she had cancer and Johnathon Sawyer before he got sober. Plus it is an actively bad show.
  25. Good gods, this crew occupies too many of my neurons.
