  1. Especially when he adds absolutely nothing and actually detracts? I cringe when I see him talking to talented chefs as though his thoughts add any value whatsoever. He's not good on camera and he brings no perceptible expertise. Guy has coached enough others in the past that surely he must have some idea about this. I don't get it.
  2. This was the first episode of the season where there was no one I despised. This was just incompetence and it seemed they were teachable, maybe. I agree they need to hire a GM--ideally one with actual restaurant experience! I have never understood the people on this show who think they can just open a restaurant without knowing a single thing about how.
  3. I thought learning about the Freedom House Ambulance Service was really interesting and I thought the show handled it really well. They revealed the patient's backstory organically and I thought it was realistic that the staff was drawn into it.
  4. Does anyone know if this show is coming back? I enjoy it, despite the overlong and stupid opening sequence.
  5. I like the actor and the character but I have to use closed captions to understand much of what Kevin says. This episode reverted to the boring show of the last few years rather than the good show this season has been and that's not fair to the character.
  6. I was sad to see Dawn lose and, more to the point, to see Carlos win. Glad to see Jonathan go through. I liked both Chris Oh and Mika but I do think he is a better chef. Please, Guy, get your inarticulate charisma-sink of a son off our screens. Oh, and I also wondered who Tiffani pissed off to end up in that atrocious denim bow monstrosity of a shirt.
  7. I agree with all this and more. The relationship with her parents is absolutely codependent. No way she is mature enough to get married. That couch debacle was ridiculous. If you are not mature enough to receive a couch delivery without melting down, you are not mature enough to be in an adult relationship. Collin spent the day trying to come up with a surprise to make her laugh and she was an absolute b*#ch to him, throwing a tantrum at her party.
  8. I was surprised that I liked Keith as much as I did and I fully expected him to stay instead of the woman who did. A much better crop of "social media chefs" (a term I still kinda reject) this time around. No one like Teeny or whatever her dumb name was.
  9. I have less than zero interest in this character, so much so that I cannot even retain his name in my memory. I actively dislike his storylines. Please kill him off soon, show, he is a blight on an otherwise good season.
  10. Her actual name is Page Turner?
  11. I totally agree that the finale would be better if the contestants got some input into the menu (who starts a meal with steak?). And I also agree that the moment Wes was eliminated I was fine with whoever won. Overall, a decent season, which is not the default for this show.
  12. I liked this episode but I did not like Nolan. Hospice is one of the best choices you can make for a dying loved one and he was a stubborn selfish jerk to delay it. This one hit home for me more than it deserved to. My mom (in a nursing home with dementia, less than ten years older than I am now, under hospice care because they are angels) developed dysphasia and we had to decide as a family whether to put in a feeding tube. Thanks to her expressed wishes, we opted against and then I flew across the country and my sister, dad, husband, and I kept vigil with her 24/7 for nearly a week before she died. So I judged Nolan pretty hard in this episode.
  13. I've share my life with more than one short-haired kitty (for some reason not the long- or medium-haired ones) who loved to stand in the stairwell where the acoustics are best and practice kitty arias at about 3 AM. One of our current tabbies will bring toys upstairs to me when I am in the bathtub, talking to herself the entire time before carefully setting the toy on the bathmat. Delightful little weirdos, cats.
  14. Maybe I'm just desperate for entertainment but I really enjoyed last night's episode and Frankie is my favorite. I thought Trinity would last longer than this and I thought the woman on the red team with the gross nails would be gone by now.
  15. I really liked this episode. I realize that, other than all the good stuff others have mentioned (which I agree with!), I also always like it when Voight the gravel-voiced aggro PITA is less present.
  16. Carly (age 10, glasses), Aria (age 11, Indian and Bay Area), Ella (age 10), Piper (age 12, redhead), and Arielle (age 10) are my favorites. I just think the girls are stronger this year.
  17. We just finished hosting our sixth houseguest of the last 4.5 months here so we are recovering and getting introvert recharge time. I have BBQ pulled chicken in the slow cooker so the house smells fantastic. It's been interesting texting with my sisters-in law in the New Orleans area today, where 3-6 inches of snow is expected! 😳 Edited to add that one nice thing about it having been in the 30s here at night for days and days (in the Bay Area of CA so we are not used to this!), aside from getting to snuggle under a pile of covers, is the kitties have been snuggling up at night to share body heat. 😻
  18. Based on that Tamron Hall interview (I did not watch the others yet), it sounds like Jinger may have gotten some counseling.
  19. Not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but it could be a symptom of a thyroid problem.
  20. Bonnie and her bug eyes and duck lips wore thin for me immediately. She is one of those owners on this show I hope will fail. why did the kitchen not have an expediter?
  21. We've used Vivint for nearly nine years now (since right after our house was broken into, alas) and it works fine. It is professionally monitored and we have the doorbell camera, inside camera pointing at the door that engages if the alarm is set, sensors on all the doors and windows, and glass-break sensors on all floors. I have no complaints about them. Giving a passcode to a trusted cat sitter is not a problem.
  22. I don't know which osteoporosis drug this commercial is for but the one ostensibly narrated by a dog for a drug that "builds new bone!" is beyond creepy. The dog is all excited about his person being able to be more active, but then there is a squeaky toy sound and the dog gets ecstatic about the creation of bone. Dog--it's not for you!
  23. My sister had a boyfriend for a while who got up for a midnight snack one time. My sister got up in the morning to find her kitten in the fridge because he had leapt in when the boyfriend wasn't looking. The kitten was fine but she dumped the boyfriend (not just because of this).
  24. I really liked this episode, actually. Enough that I watched it twice. On re-watch, I noticed a continuity error. Carisi interrupts the robbery. He pulls out his wallet, removes the cash, puts the wallet away, puts his watch on the counter, hesitates when they ask for his wedding ring, but then adds his ring. In a later scene, though, he says "you have my wallet" to let them know they should see he is a DA. Did not detract from my liking the episode; I just always like to catch that sort of thing, for some reason.
  25. I did not sign up for Carlos, Texas Ranger. Agree with everyone that the show has completely sucked this season so far.
