Bill goes to the pool house because he hates his wife. He is only staying (for now) because of the hefty alimony and child support he will have to pay out. He's probably working on hiding much of his money already! There is no hope for this marriage. Altman certainly has settled down and become more likable. He fell madly in love with Heather and they make a great couple. He embraced marriage and having children.
