  1. Dope use and OD aren't rare among the artists I have known. A lot of that is the crossover with the punk scene, where heroin is still very popular. Not terribly surprising but horrible for his family.
  2. An episode that wanted to be Chung, and failed horribly at it. Like the rest of the episodes, it seemed forced and overacted. I will say that I couldn't care less why Scully and Mulder aren't together. I am just goddamned glad that they aren't. The worst thing that ever happened to the series was turning a cool sci-fi mystery into another excuse for soap opera and angsty love stories. I would love it if they pretended none of that ever happened. Even if I had to watch overworked episodes like this one.
  3. I have not been impressed with Robert, but he marches on. I am about ready for him to go.
  4. I am not terribly worried about it. If the moderators want to move it, they can. In which case, it would be a good idea to put all of the episode posts there instead of scattered around like they are. I am not sure who "we" is, though.
  5. Not well written. Horrible over-acting by Duchovny. If I wasn't such a fan of the early years, I would have turned it off fairly early. It's only a few episodes, so I will watch them all, but I seriously hopes it improves.
  6. I adore Gael. One reason I still despise Djokovic was the USO match where he took a questionable "injury" break that helped him come back in a 5-setter vs Monfils. That said, Gael is a talented tennis player who should have done more on the court considering his talent and athleticism. I don't care about off-court endorsement deals or I would consider Anna Kournikova's career a success. His career has been a disappointment, and I think it's valid to bring it up. Hearing the commentators fawn over him has been disgusting. Reading Aussie fans praise him while condemning Kyrgios is odd. They are both assholes. Never understood what Clijsters saw in him. She dodged a bullet, I think.
  7. I am kind of okay with a Black person deciding whether she has been the target of racism. I am also okay with her not covering for the person who subjected her to it. White people too often think that they have the right to be final arbiters of whether a Black person has experienced "real" racism. I am more than happy to skip that.
  8. I don't ever remember them interviewing a perpetrator before, and that dude did himself no favors by being the first. He gets jealous, agrees to take a gun to confront Melinda and Roger, and is still claiming that it was self defense and she misconstrued the events. The fact that he still doesn't take responsibility for barging in on two sleeping people brandishing a gun makes me think he is a dangerous man. And he and the shooter get slaps on the wrist. Second degree murder and accessory? Really?
  9. He likely does have a chance, given the talent pool. I'm not sure that means that he's necessarily good, though. To be honest, I thought Nora was okay, but was praised way beyond what was deserved. She was a nice enough person, I just wasn't as impressed with her work as the judges seemed to be. Again, I think that's related to having too many seasons of a show devoted to a niche skill/occupation. You end up with winners like Nora, who aren't bad, but aren't spectacular, either.
  10. Hadn't read the cast link yet, but this is enough for me. I'm in. Love her.
  11. You mean like selling their wedding to a TV network or going on the same game show 4 times before winning, and another game show as a two-time loser? No more Rob Mariano for me. Ever. I don't dislike Amber. She was never as nasty or as impressed with herself. I despise Rob, and never want to see him anywhere again.
  12. Well, she seems to be getting plenty from people who don't like her, but still find time to stalk her FB. I am indifferent-to-positive towards Nicole, and have never looked at her social media posts. If people are worried about the "attention", they could always stop giving it to her.
  13. I never disliked Connor, and I felt that VK did a great job with the material. Didn't watch Mad Men because it really didn't appeal to me. Good to see him being recognized.
  14. I didn't feel that way about Clara at all. In fact, I found the hatred of the young woman to be a really gross part of Who fandom. I found it gross when aimed at Rose and at Clara. I wasn’t a fan of either Amy or Rory, but I again saw the vicious hatred aimed at the young woman when it was expressed there, too. River can be a vicious, hateful sociopath, but it’s Clara who "deserves" to die because she's "too cool".
  15. I still wouldn't say that I am a fan of the character. I have always found her annoying, and I found some of the "he doesn't love me" whining annoying in this one. Still, I enjoyed the two of them together, so I loved the episode. The saddest thing, since I don't follow shows in the press, was coming here and finding out Moffat would be back.
  16. "Entitled" is always my favorite criticism of a contestant, because it means nothing. I have yet to read a consistent explanation of what constitutes "entitlement" beyond playing for yourself instead of a viewer favorite. Anyway, good for Tasha, Jeremy, Spencer and Kimmi. Use whatever argument you need to in order to further your own game. Isn't that the smart thing? I thought I remembered Ciera saying something along those lines...
  17. Nothing wrong with being on the other side of the vote if you advance. In fact, it takes a whole lot of work for that to be the case multiple times.
  18. What's weird is that when Ciera and Kelley Wentworth celebrated the idol play in such a nasty way at the TC when Savage was voted out out, it was considered hilarious. When Ciera rolled her eyes out of her head at one TC after another, no comment was made. When Kelley celebrates the golden boy's loss and rolls her eyes a time or two in his direction, she's a horrible human being. I have never been a fan of Joe, and I'm not a fan of Kelley in the slightest. I think she's way overrated and was damn lucky to have an idol or two. But Joe's hardly the first person whose loss at an IC has been celebrated by people who were afraid he'd continue winning immunity and get to the end if something didn't happen soon. They didn't know he was injured, so sure they celebrated. Why not? It's great for their game that he didn't win, and they had the opportunity to vote him out. It's not that I think it's a smart play to revel in the opportunity to oust an opponent--whether that opponent is the hated Savage or the hipster pretty boy Joe--but it's not the first time and it won't be the last.
  19. Wentworth and Ciera are damn lucky that there were so many idols in the game. Without idols, they're both long gone. I don't consider having idols to be "good play", whether it's Russell Hantz playing them or Kelley Wentworth. It's especially lucky for Ciera, who didn't even have to find the damned things. She would have been gone weeks ago without Kelley's help and idol play.
  20. I'm not a Joe fan, but Fishbach has made me one. I've grown weary of his obsession. If the edited show is to be believed, it's one reason he focused on Kelly last week; she was "too close" to Joe. This week, he finally had a clear shot at Joe himself, and it blew up in his face. Laughing so damned hard. I still won't be sorry to see Joe leave, but seeing good ol' Fish bow out first did my heart good.
  21. This was done often in the early seasons of the US version. Build something with these Home Depot products, "pick items from this catalog", have some Pringles!, want to split a Snickers bar?, call home on this Sprint-branded cell phone, and the old "and a new car" challenge that went on for a long time and led to the YauMan-Dreamz incident.
  22. I didn't see her as an aggressive player. I saw her as a bitter, petty loudmouth who berates people for supposedly accepting 6th in another alliance instead of accepting 5th in hers. She demands "big moves" that help no one but her, then pretends she's the only one Playing the Game. She didn't have anything real to offer, so she threw a fit instead. That fit wasn't to get her ahead, but to try to torpedo someone else's game. That's not good play. That's just throwing a tantrum. I'm just hoping the boot list is anywhere near correct and both Savage and Ciera are gone in the next couple of weeks. The order doesn't matter. They're both assholes, and having no more of them on my TV would be great. Hope neither gets a third chance.
  23. Unfortunately, I can't nest the quote that you were responding to here, so this isn't really just about your comment, but about its context. I don't even know where the evidence that either of them wanted to make alliances with "big strong men" came from. If so, why the hell would Kimmi give Stephen the time of day? Where have we seen that Tasha only wanted to ally with "big strong men" either? Am I missing something about Abi? As for the idea above that female alliances are tried more than male alliances, I don't see any evidence of that. They do get talked about more, because "evil women and their identity politics" vs "the boys just have stuff in common".
  24. I will say that I like Joe's hair much better when it's down. The bun is so fucking hipster and annoying, but the long, wavy hair is cool. It reminds me of my husband.
