  1. I was never a DS9 fan. It wasn't Trek to me. I hated when Worf was brought on as a love sick fool mooning over a woman the show wanted me to see as more irresistible than I actually saw her. Sisko was the captain I liked the least because of the bluster. I absolutely hate the Ferengi, so any show that focuses as heavily on them as DS9 did isn't going to make it for me. They were the most worthless species on any Trek. I didn't care for the focus on Seven of Nine in Voyager, but I do agree that her stories were the strongest. I am sure Fuller didn't have a say in the direction of the story, but I will give him credit for decent stories on my 3rd favorite Trek series behind TNG and TOS.
  2. When I am pressured to "cut corners", I not only explicitly and publicly condemn the request in front of my entire department, I quit if that's what it takes. In a job that affects public health, that's the absolute minimum standard to be considered anything but complete moral garbage. Going along to get along, even if that is all she did, is indication of moral cowardice and utter disregard for other people. As for cooperation with authorities after the fact, I hate snitches as much as I hate the kind of corruption she was involved in. It's the epitome of "Sorry I got caught." If she really cared about what was going on, she wouldn't have waited until they came to her. She certainly wouldn't have gone along with it for a buck or two. Someone who turns over only after they have already benefited in order to benefit in a different way isn’t doing it to set things right. As for Flint, lots of people cared about environmental racism and public health crises prior to that. It's the media that didn't care. So, yeah, public health endangerment along with snitching for a lighter sentence is something I will hold against her. I will celebrate when she is gone, and I only hope she has reason to be bitter about her ouster.
  3. You mean like the fans who complain about other countries' athletes comments or "whining"? I agree. Very disrespectful. Especially of a true champion like Svetlana Khorkina. When I think of *her* I think of enormous grace and beautiful gymnastics. Apparently, that's not what "actual fans" remember, though.
  4. I really have no problem with it being brought up. If she wasn't from the US, they would run it into the ground even more. The thing about not smiling would certainly get more play if it was applied to a non-US team. That was a theme of derision applied to other teams when I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s. The coverage of this event is awful. It's mostly been coverage of US athletes performing or just sitting on the floor, interviews that I don't care about, and discussion of people who aren't there. I have a "who cares" feeling about it all. I'm not sure how I feel about the strategy of putting together a high start value routine that you can't perform cleanly, take big deductions relative to other competitors, but still come out ahead. It looks like that strategy is going to win the men's competition. I would rather see a good performance win than a guy with enormous start values but sloppy execution.
  5. Debbie is so smart that she concocted a grand scheme to get rid of someone...who wanted to keep her and Joe in the game. She's as good at reading people as she is at getting away with endangering other people's lives. What a player.
  6. I don't think the decision was wrong tonight based on what was sent down the runway. It was a decision that ends my interest in this season, though. There isn't a single person I give a shit about now. I can't listen to Alyssa's horrible delivery any longer. I hate Isaac. Georgina is moderately tolerable, but nothing special. Zanna? Who the fuck is she, anyway? Stella was the only reason I was watching this mess to begin with. And, of course, she would go home on the challenge that I hate the most. I don't think these challenges show who's "creative". I think they show who can use a glue gun and make the best craft project.
  7. Hate Debbie so much because of her real life behavior, I don't care if she pulls the smartest move ever. I will continue to want to see her gone. However conceited FauxBama is, he spends his life helping people instead of risking their lives for a few bucks. I don't think I have ever despised anyone more than Debbie. Not even Hantz. Poor Alecia. I hope the swap is soon.
  8. That's what the show wants. If it doesn't happen organically, they will edit to make it happen. At the end of last season, several things happened that indicated to me that Chris vs Matt was largely bullshit. At least, they edited to make it worse than it was. It's the very point of skull assignments instead of random skull picks.
  9. Dickwad should have gone home. It was his pick, his specialty. So, he started with an advantage over and above being a returnee. First, he simplifies the tattoo significantly. Then, he does a shitty job on the watered down version of what his canvas wanted. He was only kept for the drama and because of the bullshit theme of the season. I really loved the winning tattoo. The artist seemed cool, too. I am rooting for Anthony Michaels, because he's from my hometown. I was glad he did solid work. When an artist is sold as a self-taught newbie, their work usually bears that out. Happy to see him do a cool tattoo on a tough challenge.
  10. I don't really care who's taking over. I am just glad Moffat won't be around too much longer.
  11. I hate TMZ, but the video of her pontificating about all things water and comments about if her tribemates only knew made me giggle. I mean, did she honestly think no one would pick up that story - - especially if she presented herself as an expert and encouraged people to drink dodgy water?
  12. I didn't like Stella's dress, but I am loving her no bullshit attitude this season.
  13. Add me to the list of those wondering what the judges saw in Mel's. The speak one looked like she was trying to thwart identification at a riot. Robert's little stories are so pretentious. Want him gone.
  14. Wasn't Christa(?), the third of the Rupert-Sandra triad, arrested for meth before she was on Pearl Islands? I'm pretty sure she was arrested afterwards, but I thought she was before, too. Not sure if Vytas was ever arrested, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
  15. I couldn't watch that. It was worse than the ear bug last week. I kept wondering how he was going to get in the water or run in the challenge with all those wounds.
  16. Jenny first accusing Alecia of lying about being the one who proposed the women's alliance, then saying that Jenny herself suggested it to make Alecia feel better was either an example of not keeping track of her own lies or more proof that something was left out. I think she was forced to back down from calling Alecia a liar. Last week I only disliked Neal. This week, I am also annoyed by Debbie, dislike Joe, and absolutely hate the dumbassed bounty hunter. Seriously, fuck that dude. Oh, and another thing. I still don't give a shit that Darnell was voted out. I wouldn't even be if the person who was saved wasn't the one who got them fire. But she was, which was awesome.
  17. Because they voted off a man instead of a woman. Wouldn't surprise me based on his past feelings towards dudes.
  18. I haven’t watched anything the guy made since Wonderfalls, so I really have no opinion of him. My biggest concern is his expressed interest in what Abrams did to the franchise. I hated everything about JJ fucking with the universe, so Fuller doesn't fill me with confidence.
  19. No problem with the vote. Either was an understandable choice. The team only needed to catch up because of Darnel, so "they caught up" doesn't do anything for me. They were half-second behind. Without all the lost time, they don't lose. I am also thrilled that "keep the tribe strong by keeping a penis" didn't rule the day for once. Lots of dudes on Survivor have been useless in challenges. Keeping a dude simply because he is a dude doesn't automatically mean your tribe is stronger. I found myself liking everyone. Or, at least, not disliking anyone. I hate the theme of the season, but I like the cast. Well, except for the sharp-nosed manscaper on Beauty. He is kind of an ass. Not terribly attractive, either. I felt the editing was solid this time. With all the time spent discussing why people on Brains should go, I thought they would lose. I think the Tai misstep was used to set up his ouster down the road. There wasn't an obvious second choice on Beauty, though, so I wasn't too convinced they were headed for TC tonight.
  20. Being teamed with Robert is the kiss of death. How many times is that dude going to be on the bottom, but get to continue in the competition? He did make the seam worse, but it was more than that. He did very little else. I guess that is how you skate through. Do little work, so all failures can be blamed on your team mate. Oh, and have a schtick. Ugh. So over this dude.
  21. I go to YouTube to see videos about software or how to troubleshoot computer hardware. Couldn't care less about the individuals who produce the videos. I only care about the medium as far as it's useful. And, sorry, but make-up tips and Frisbee tricks are worse than useless. The casting of the season is the equivalent of putting actors and models from TV ads on the show.
  22. I really don't mind a first episode without an elimination, but I think it's more suited to a regular season than an AS season. It would give the designers a couple of chances to show what they can do within the competition parameters. These folks already had at least a whole season to do that, though, so they don't need another shot. Peplum? Love them. If it’s "fashion forward" to make women of different shapes look horrible, I say screw fashion forward. To be honest, I don't even know what the term means. All silhouettes, fabrics, styles have cycled in and out. The only reason fashion changes is to fool women into wasting money and time. So, I say go with the style that speaks to you and fits your body. I don't like Isaac much, but I despise Kors even more. If they must have the token dude on the panel, I wish Zac had time for both shows. He is the only token dude the franchise has who sticks to the work rather than trying to play Bitchy Queen for attention.
  23. I never thought Alyssa was a great host, but I don't remember that saccharine, affected way of speaking before. She was awful.
  24. Based on what previous contestants have had to say, I doubt it was immediate or because they were trying to represent anything at all. During regular seasons, the contestants have been kept in that room, often on very little sleep and for extended periods of time, until the producers got the conflict and melodrama that they demanded.
