  1. Whatever he was doing, the sainted Swapnil chose the irredeemable Candace for comfort. Strange.
  2. And this is why Jeff's attempt to communicate with another tribe at the IC is a big deal. This game isn't about "communicating with someone I care about". It's about winning, forming alliances and advancing. If Jeff is trying to communicate with someone on another tribe, that makes it pretty clear that he's trying to maintain alliances from before the split. That is a problem for Tasha and Andrew, any way you want to slice it. It not only reflects on what might happen if they allow him to make the merge, but it also reflects on what he might do right now. If he's trying to keep his old tribe strong, that would make it appear that he's unlikely to keep possible roadblocks in the game. The biggest roadblocks are people who were not on his tribe at the beginning of the game. There's a damned good reason for Tasha to call out that behavior and make it obvious to everyone out there. The fact that Jeff laid out his entire alliance just makes it a smarter move by her.
  3. Exactly. It was a dick move to say her name out loud in front of all three tribes. She had nothing to do with it, but he dragged her into his drama. Jeff's an idiot. It hasn't taken long for me to really dislike the guy.
  4. Peih-Gee and Woo kind of got what they paid for. Instead of going with Shirin, Spencer and Kelley Wentworth last week to vote out Abi, they voted Shirin out. (Kelley mentioned that she was only voting the way she did because she had to.) If you keep someone like Abi around, it will come back and bite you. When I said they were fools to align themselves with Abi last week, I didn't realize how quickly that would prove itself. Peih-Gee is gone because she made a stupid move last week, then another stupid move this week when she told Tasha and Andrew exactly how they could split the tribe by being so adamant about getting Abi out. Never had any affection for Peih-Gee (although I don't dislike her, either), so I was able to enjoy seeing her dumb play bite her in the ass--even if it meant smarmy Varner and horrible Abi won the night.
  5. Okay, I'm calling some bullshit on the Matt vs. Chris narrative now. I believe they've been competitors and probably both acted like little boys throughout. I'm beginning to think that the depth of the "hate" is manufactured, though. In the end, when the final is being explained, Kruseman is sitting between Matt and Chris. When told that the last tattoo is artist's choice, Matt leans way back in his chair and reaches out to bump fists with someone. As far as he leans back and as far as he reaches out, he can't be celebrating with Kruseman. He's too close. He looks to be celebrating this announcement with Chris. Still don't like Chris, but I think the rivalry has been built up considerably by editors.
  6. I like Clara, as well. I don't like the idea that a companion must be an insecure little girl who gives up "control" to the Very Important Man in her life. I'm perfectly fine with that dynamic staying dead and gone in the past. I also found Amy incredibly annoying. That said, I loved Donna and would happily see her back. I'm just not sure I'd want her to be in the world of Moffat and sonic sunglasses. I'm neither hating nor loving this season. I quit watching shortly into Eleven's run. I am finding this season better than his tenure. The best thing I can say about the episode is that not focusing on Naughty Missy was a big relief. This show is just no longer appointment TV.
  7. Except she never said anything of the sort. She never said there was a flaw in the game, or that people were stupid.
  8. I haven't been a fan of Tim since the season 5, when Stella was on. His snobbishness was on full blast with her. I also hated some of the things he said about Hillary Clinton's appearance. I may not like politicians, but who the hell cares what she wears? He wouldn't say the same about a male politician. But Under the Gunn didn't have any affect on my opinions of him. The problem with Nick was that he actually did the work for the contestants. He didn't just advise, he physically did the work. I have never been a fan of Mondo, Nick or Anya, but that show and Tim's interaction with them didn't affect that. Nick's insistence on producing the designs instead of advising the designers irritated me more than anything else on that show. And, no, I didn't think Natasha was "bullied" any more than we've seen designers have been criticized on seasons of Project Runway. I don't like Tim, and I haven't in years, but he's hardly the most evil man on the planet.
  9. It's almost as if the producers take the designers in, interview them, ask them to comment on each others' designs, and then air an edited version of what they say. What's Candice thinking by answering those questions?
  10. I loved Kelly's. I didn't think it was "junior", either. Far less junior than Ashley's, anyway. The muppet vest was kind of funny, but probably not an online seller. I loved Candice's, too. It was supposed to be out of the norm, and it was. As for the interaction in the workroom, most of the designers seem just fine with getting advice from each other. The only one who has whined about it, if I remember correctly, was Ashley when she was doing her "poor me" thing the third week. They all seem to be fine with Candice and respect her as a designer. When Edmond whined about being given the bombshell "persona" (ugh, that term is just awful), I wondered what the hell he was talking about. Candice seems to know his aesthetic better than he does. I couldn't see him getting anything else, based upon what he's produced so far on the show.
  11. You mean, he's adopting the Rupert "provider" strategy? That is an old strategy that has gotten no one the win. The only providers who won had other things going for them. The only two I can think of are Hatch and Boston Rob, and Joe's nowhere near either of those players strategically. Anyway, when I see Joe's stupid hair, I only think of this and hope it's true.
  12. Peih-Gee talks shit, gets caught, and Shirin gets the blame for it--and Peih-Gee's vote. Wow. I'm not really invested in Shirin, but Peih-Gee is an asshole for that move. Never really liked her to begin with, but that's really, really shitty. I didn't think I could be more irritated by Hero Joe than I was his last go-round, but I am. If production could give him a blow job on live TV, they would. Savage's comments about Stephen reminded me of how he treated Skinny Ryan. All the loathing came flooding back. Anyone who allies with Abi is a fool, including Shirin for originally allying with her. That headcase is going to turn on you for any slight, perceived or real, and her emotions are so volatile that you won't even see it coming.
  13. I was going to post that yesterday, but didn't know where to put it. So heartbreaking for Hera and her sister, not to mention the guy's other child and the relatives of the other dead he's been linked to.
  14. I watched very little of this, because I expected flag-waving and "I was a Marine" for an hour. Even the end was annoying, because Chris got his military nonsense in when I just wanted to see the results. Sorry to see Duffy go. I had no problem with her being in the bottom, but her tattoo wasn't worse than Kruseman's and she's actually been trying (and sometimes winning) this season. He has not. I would have much rather have seen her stick around. I'm sure I'll end up watching bits and pieces of the rest of the season, but it's been completely underwhelming. I'm not looking forward to the end, especially with Chris in full-on smarm mode now that his minions are all gone.
  15. I've had a problem with some of the perps he's shown empathy for. I've never gotten over him making excuses for the landlord whose greed led to the death of a family. I'd feel much more empathy for a 15yo kid who made a mistake than an old man who wouldn't buy a $6 part, and ended up killing people.
  16. Yeah, "fashion" likes to show women's tits. I don't care how often they do it, it's still shitty and superfluous. A desperate grasp for attention by being "naughty". It obviously made the model uncomfortable, as she was constantly trying to cover herself, and the fact that designers are fine with that is just one reason I hate most of them. By and large, they're assholes who really don't like women, even the female designers. Besides, even if Laurie had lined that top, it would have been a monstrosity. It was just ugly. Not well made, not well thought out, droopy, hideous colors. Bad.
  17. This is exactly how I felt about her. And i didn't even like River Song, so why the hell would I want to see a brunette copy? She is very stock character.
  18. I'm not sure why Kelley's immunity mattered. Should people with immunity not be considered for the next win if their work is judged to be among the best? Should the designers not try to win again if they have immunity? I do agree that Laurie was by far the worst out there. If they were judging just on the designs in front of them, she should have gone. If she was really worthy of staying for body-of-work reasons, Tim could save her. I loved Candice's design. It was the most interesting one out there for me. I loved that it wasn't a skirt. I loved the way the jacket was cut to be off the shoulder. I loved the layered effect of the jacket. I couldn't wear the leather bustier, but if I were younger, I'd wear the entire outfit in a heartbeat. It referred to the inspiration material while still being cool to look at and wearable. I didn't particularly see anything off about the guest judge's reactions to it, either. I loved Edmond's cloud jacket. Without it, I think the design would have been very expected and boring. It wasn't something I'd wear, but I liked looking at it and I thought it looked good on the model. Although she didn't have the worst thing out there (in fact, I'd say not only Laurie, but also Ashley had worse designs), Lindsey was not long for this show and the design was really unflattering. I wouldn't complain about her losing this week if that monstrosity Laurie sent down the runway wasn't such an affront to all things good.
  19. The first thievery I remember was Rupert stealing shoes to sell in Cook Islands. It's been going on a long time, and no one has ever been punished for it. As for generally going through someone's stuff, you can't take the HII, but people have gone through others' bags and belongings.
  20. Ugh. Fucking Joe. When my husband asked if that was another guy with stupid hair or the same one, I knew exactly how he felt. My sympathy grew when he exclaimed, "But he was just on last season!" He went to bed right after. I foolishly stayed up. Vytas and Joe were equally annoying with their yoga bullshit, but the women on Vytas' tribe were smarter. Who cares about some dude and his yoga when there's a game to be played? I really didn't care who left tonight, as long as it wasn't Wiglesworth. Varner also got to me. I'm glad they made it through the first vote. So much more interested in the "old school" players, as they categorize themselves. The game was more interesting back then, and so were the players. I loved seeing Kimmi wearing the bikini, even though she has a bit of a belly. She wasn't self-conscious. It seemed like it was about being as cool as possible, given the conditions, and comfortable. Nothing particularly sexual or revealing about it, but also not trying to cover up.
  21. It's also a financial issue. Even the better artists I know aren't rolling in cash. They have bills to pay. They have families. They have businesses to run. They have appointments to keep. If they were really interested in the public attention, they would be going to tattoo shows, anyway. This doesn't do much for an established artist who has people coming in from out-of-state to get work done. They don't need this shit, and they don't have the time or money for it, either.
  22. A 1000 times yes. Hated her on Buffy, hated her more on Angel. The writing for her is awful, the character is boring, and the actress is, well, wanting in talent. This is the character I hate more than any other in the Buffy-verse. Even more than Faith, who is a whole 'nother stereotype that makes me want to throw things. I love all seasons of Angel, and will rewatch from start to finish. I don't do the same with Buffy. Have to agree about Lorne. There might have been a few times I didn't hate his singing (mostly because of the scene, rather than his voice), but that nasal tone is not good. The character didn't do much for me, either. Way over used. I also didn't hate Connor. I never found him whiny or any of the negative things I read. Who wouldn't be fucked up, all things considered? I hated his relationship with Cordelia, but the resulting Jasmine storyline was one of my favorites. And I don't think it's a generally unpopular opinion elsewhere (which is why he ended up on Angel to begin with), but I loved the character of Spike through both shows. Not that I sympathized with him, but he was one of my favorite characters in the universe.
  23. Refusing to challenge yourself is refusing to challenge yourself, whether you're Kruseman or Chris. If you insist on the easiest canvas every week, it's much easier to take artistic risks. You don't have to consider if your placement, the age of the skin or the tone of the skin is going to cause you to not get a good tattoo with significant detail finished in the time allowed. If you're stuck with the ribs or skin that you're not used to working with, you're much more likely to have to remove elements, go with black-and-grey instead of bright colors, etc. So, Chris is a coward. He doesn't want to have to deal with the challenges that would make him think about how to accomplish the task.
  24. The best blooper has to be the fire on set, where you hear the extinguishers in the background as they desperately try to put it out. The scene is Barnabas and Vicky (or Maggie?) talking in the foyer, with the extinguishers drowning out their dialog. Well, not the best. That would be Roger talking about his "incestors".
  25. It's more that they're already a different kind of person to begin with. When I met my old man on Halloween of 1990, I was 19 and he was just shy of 22. He already had neck tattoos. Now, in his late 40s, he has even more. A lot of the guys I know started with neck tattoos in their 20s, and moved on to face tattoos. That doesn't mean people don't change. It means they started someplace different.
