S04.E07: Proof Is in the Pudding
RedDelicious replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in 1,000-LB Sisters
I mean really. My brother was so big the hospital didn’t have onesies to fit him and today he’s very tall and thin. The care and concern from the family seemed very sincere. I really hope Tammy succeeds. I really like that she’s talking about celebrating without food and alcohol, and I also really like that she’s using fidget tools and holding a stuffed cat in her confessionals. Those things may seem juvenile but they’re actually very supportive. That shows growth. She’s using tools and they seem to be working for her. I hope she keeps it up. -
Hey at least they switched to consummate from ravage 🙃 Interesting coincidence that modern day Monica’s real life last name is Chow.

Nah. If Spencer’s rifle was oiled up as one would expect it would be, 24 hours exposed to sea water wouldn’t be enough to render it useless. Same with the shells. They’re sealed so they’re still going to work. He wasn’t carrying Elmer Fudd’s musket. Think about how much it must have rained during World War I.

Agree. I think this is a bit of self sabotage on Lindsey's part. She always seems to want something that is just beyond the current state of her relationship. She's always pushing for something she doesn't have and thinks she needs in order to be happy and fulfilled. Whether it's moving in together (I think that was Everett), a commitment (Carl, the first time) a f*cking sandwich and more time spent together when her partner was working a full-time real job during the day and some evenings (Stravy) or a bigger/better job (Carl 2.0). ETA: not all of those things are out of the realm of what is reasonable in a relationship, but Lindsey seems to want them when she knows they aren't available. Then she becomes a monster when she doesn't get them and the relationship fails. That's not really all her fault, but she is definitely one who can be blind to the writing on the wall and just wants what she wants when she wants it. God help him if he tries to recreate any of their dates as a surprise.

Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl
RedDelicious replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Absolutely no explanation for the tuna. She once said she's only allergic to fish with scales, but news flash, tunas do in fact have scales. I guess technically they're not a scaly fish but I think the fish allergy is very much a crisis of convenience for her. And then I'm like, you do realize that you can ski in fantastic places that do not have the altitude of Aspen. Stowe is absolutely lovely and luxurious and if the altitude is affecting your hydration so much that you need medical intervention, perhaps you should consider resorts a little lower in the atmosphere and closer to home. (Side note the Winter House kids do not ski at Stowe, they ski at nearby Smugglers Notch.) I actually wonder if things are rocky with Paul right now, because she seems to pull the drama when her personal life is falling apart, like HOW CAN YOU LEAVE ME WHEN I'M SO SICK (alternatively, how can you hold me as an EMOTIONAL HOSTAGE when I'M HOMELESS AND LIVING OUT OF A LUXURY SUV AND HOTELS). And the irony of it all? Her face actually looks better with a little bit of fullness. Not sure about that one cheek that seems to be dropping into her jaw, but still. -
When Han Met the Queen: Actors in Other Roles
RedDelicious replied to Meredith Quill's topic in 1923
Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren of course played opposite each other way back in the day in The Mosquito Coast. I must have watched that move 25 times. When I see Brian Geraghty, all I can hear is is voice saying "I OVERSLEPT. I should have been WITH THEM" in We are Marshall. He's gotten a ton of work, but the only other show I recognize him from is Boardwalk Empire. Timothy Dalton is 80s James Bond to me, that's all I can see. -

S04.E06: A Lot of Cooks in the Kitchen

Now that Tammy has lost a bit of weight and you can get a better idea of what her face looks like, I can see where she and Amanda somewhat resemble each other. -
Something about taking a ship to America bound for a port that is not entered by way of Ellis Island, in this case Galveston, to make it easier to get Alex into the US. 🚢

I loved the expressions on Arthur & Co.'s faces when they spotted Alexandra and Spencer from across the patio. Hopefully they're not staying at The White Lotus, arancinis be damned.

C'mon, somebody needs to do a temporary screen name "Banner Creighton's Robe".

S04.E05: Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread
RedDelicious replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in 1,000-LB Sisters
The restaurant I am thinking of was The Magnolia Cafe in Philadelphia. It was so so good. It’s been so long I don’t remember if it was spicy or not, just that it was delicious and I loved it so much! They had a huge bowl of beads by the door and you were supposed to grab a handful and toss them up into the tree outside as you left. I’m sure if that tree is still standing there are beads in the upper branches! But yes, a very odd choice for Amy to eat, seemingly the night before her c-section. That had to be editing. Regarding Michael and the virus, if we’ve learned anything it’s that the virus comes for you whether you’re vaccinated or not. It’s a shame he got it while Amy was in the hospital but at least they got him tested and out of there. -
So California sober, which isn’t sober at all. I feel like that’s so hypocritical of him and anyone else who does it. You’re either chem free or you’re not, and if you need weed to be able to hang out, you have problems that aren’t going to be solved by weed.

S04.E05: Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread

This episode was pretty boring, but I have tried gator before and I liked it. Cajun was thee thing in the late 90s / early 2000s. -
Not really…she was just an uber popular college girl with a growing following on social media. She was kind of an early adopter at the time. I feel like 5ish years ago, influencing was just taking off and somehow she managed to get ahead of it. A bunch of them from that group moved to New York after graduation and they seemed to be having a blast.

I guess what it really boils down to for me is I don’t resent Alex for being blonde, rich and thin 🤷🏼♀️ I like the show, and that’s enough.

It is perfectly acceptable and expected to dislike a character for their personality. What I said above and the point I am making is it isn't fair to dislike or judge her because she comes from privilege. One is certainly entitled to do so, but it is no more fair to judge her for being wealthy than it is to judge someone else for being poor. Wealthy isn't her identity, just like poor isn't a poor person's identity. Bottom line is I don't see her as behaving like a spoiled little rich girl. She could just as easily be poor. She could have been a waitress in the hotel bar, serving the guests of the hotel. We wouldn't know if they hadn't shown us that she was actually a guest herself. She's there because she is a character in a story, rich or poor.
-
Is that not still true today? People who have the interest and can afford to do so can go on safari. People who cannot afford to take such trips do not. I don't see it that way. You either have the wherewithal to adapt to what life throws at you or you do not. If you have comfort to go home to at night, you're fortunate. I don't think it is fair to judge her because she came from privilege. ETA: We wouldn't know that she did if we weren't shown her backstory. She could have just as easily been a waitress in the bar where she met Spencer. And either way, she left that life behind in Africa.

This concept of Alexandra being entitled and spoiled...how would we know that if we didn't already know she came from a wealthy background and was supposed to marry another wealthy peer? She certainly doesn't seem to care much whether she's in clean clothes or sleeping in a clean bed or even eating food that an unclean man had stuck his fingers into. None of that seems to phase her. She's reacting appropriately to situations she's never been in before, like screaming and being frightened. How else do you figure it out and learn from your mistakes? It's perfectly fine to dislike her character but it seems stupid and unfair to base that dislike in the fact that she comes from privilege. Other characters on the show have evaluated her based on her looks which is not fair. For this reason alone I think she will prove she can hold her own. She's adapted to many different environments so far. It was 1923. Times were different for women. She couldn't even vote yet. I think she's got a lot of pluck and a mind of her own and I like that.

I did not watch and don't plan to, but I'm here to read the comments (doing the lords work you people are). The new girl Sam was friends with my ex's daughter at Elon.

Maybe we will see Spencer “come alive” when he returns home and stops running from his inner demons, with the help of his beloved by his side. He has the potential to live his life with purpose as opposed to merely existing and surviving by way of his military skills.
-
We also feel the Jake/Elizabeth characters are pretty useless, and we don't really care for the actors who play them either. Our prediction is that: I really want Teonna's grandmother to survive hitting her head on the woodstove. I know it's not likely but that's what I'm hoping for.

I thought he was a sniper/sharpshooter in the army.

I'm indifferent towards Tina. I don't really see anything wrong with her relationship and involvement with Victoria. It's okay to completely dislike her behavior, but that doesn't mean she's an evil person abusing her daughter. There is only one person to blame for Victoria staying so long in training camp her first time around, and that is Kelli.
