  1. Yes - when I was first diagnosed they kept asking me if I had recently experienced a major trauma like an accident or a death in the family. I’d just gone through a horrendous breakup with a narcissist (not unlike Kody) and lost most of my friends AND I was in a horrible job situation. It was the worst time of my life. 6 months later I was losing weight, my hair was falling out and I was barely wearing a jacket in the dead of winter.
  2. I had Graves Disease. Technically I'm supposed to be in remission. I did lose weight at first but the suppressive meds they put me on made me gain 30 or 40 pounds. I went through another period of great distress (family illness and loss, none of it Covid) a year ago and I think it might have caused it to flare up again, because emotional trauma is how I developed it in the first place. My neck looks like the photo above. I couldn't tell you if Robyn's issue is Graves or Hashimoto, but she's got something going on. My neck is definitely more pronounced sometimes compared to others, and it definitely has something to do with things I eat, although I don't have any food allergies or insensitivities that I am aware of. I'm guessing her issue is probably a combination of the disease and her nutrition. I don't know what they're eating out there but I don't get the impression they are super healthy eaters in general.
  3. Are you all that are watching in Canada? I checked my HBOMax and I don't see S2. I've watched S1 four times now ☺️
  4. Yes, that came up a few times in S1 - Sabi tells Bessy their pronoun is 'they', but Sabi also says a few times that they don't even know or aren't sure how they want to identify. Or as Raffa says, 'gender binary' which made me love her even more 🥰
  5. I actually wouldn't mind trying this recipe and we're going to have some leftover pumpkin puree after next week! Another kind of weird cookie I really like are those spicy cookies that pregnant women are supposed to eat to help jump start their labor - it's like a super spicy ginger cookie and I add chocolate chips to them. I am fully aware this is bizarre, especially since I've never had kids. I heard about them when all my girlfriends were having their kids and spicy/sweet is my favorite flavor profile.
  6. Ya, I totally agree. Not my cup of tea. I had to chuckle at the wildlife exchange and the perception of Amy versus that of Chris. Amy and Chris remind me a lot of my mom and dad in that way. It gets really fustrating (hehe) after a while, but they make it work. In this episode it stood out to me how much acting Amy does for the camera - she's not as comfortable as she used to be. But I appreciated her being vulnerable about her sensitivities. That being said, we went to Alaska on a cruise this past June and it was freaking amazing. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Just not on a motorcycle! The other thing I noticed is all the bumps and spots on Zach's face and neck. Is that all sun damage?
  7. I noticed that as well. I thought the exchange about Amy and the motorcycle was fun and they all seemed to be able to laugh easily about it. Nobody got offended. Caryn is threatened somehow but by what I don't know. Matt was being easy and affable during the gathering and I'm willing to bet he was a total dick before it started and turned on nice guy mode for the company, and it was probably especially distressing since the company included his ex-wife and her new husband. It's a classic narc move (being a total dick before social gatherings and then turning on the charm like nothing happened). I've experienced it a thousand times. And to be fair, they really weren't including Caryn in the conversation, but that probably has something to do with the somewhat untoward beginnings of Matt and Caryn's relationship. I don't like Caryn and I never did, but I'm starting to recognize little things I've seen in my own relationships with narcs and I definitely think that's what Matt is. Their friend reminds me of a little Ladd Drummond 😊
  8. I recently watched it for the first time (great movie) and had a 💡 moment!
  9. From my perspective, it seemed like everyone was having a nice time dining al fresco at Matt’s….except Caryn. She seemed very tense and uncomfortable. Not for nothing, it was a welcome 180 to hear Matt and Amy say nice things about each other.
  10. You and me both sister. In my case it was a string of narcs for 10 years. The worst part about it for me personally is the number of people who just don’t understand what I went through because they didn’t have the same experience with these people. It was and still is so isolating and absolutely infuriating. It took a lot of self reflection and work to make up my mind that I was no longer a victim, and that’s when in my mind I became a survivor. Kody’s behavior is so triggering at times and this particular episode made me want to light his hair on fire and blow him out of a cannon.
  11. I totally do not get the trend of weird grandma clothes and dad sandals. Especially dad sandals. I can’t believe people pay lots of money for the Hermes and Chanel versions. They’re just so unattractive.
  12. Ember is wearing wide leg pants and a shearling coat. It’s not a fundie skirt.
  13. If you separate the "who" from the "what", it all looks pretty normal to me. I've never seen a first birthday party where the guest of honor totally understood what was going on and *didn't look bewildered. My own nephew had a major meltdown at the commencement of Happy Birthday. I think the play on "o-fishally" is really cute and they did a nice job with the party decorations and cake. I think the cake is adorable. Also I don't think any kids really like going to church. We loved Sunday School but didn't really like services too much. I remember my sister and I hated having to wear a slip and tights, but as an adult I'm glad we had that experience growing up, plus we almost always got Dunkin Donuts after.
  14. That was a disappointment. We love this series and found ourselves underwhelmed. I like Beth’s new car though.
  15. Truth!! ☝️ @film noire
  16. I’m sure she has Casey (Bryn’s middle name) Frankel teed up. Actually what would surprise me even less is if Bryn suddenly decided to identify herself by a new name and they don’t even go through the legal proceedings, just to spite Jason and his family. Bethenny said she did that as a teenager with her stepfather’s name.
  17. More power to them! 😄
  18. I too had the identity of Princess Anne and Princess Margaret confused. I am not getting Princess Margaret from the actress playing her at all. Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West are doing a good job but it feels like they are over-acting to me. Too much with the heavily lined sad eyes (Diana) and articulation and facial gestures (Charles). I absolutely loved the scenery of Scotland by water and I love Britannia and the cameo by the Christina O (standing in for Alexander). I knew she looked familiar!
  19. Looking at Portia in the way she dresses and makes facial expressions, I see shades of Alanna Ubach as Noreen in the Brady Bunch movie.. As a side note I love Alanna Ubach, she's a pretty awesome actress.
  20. I said derogatory or disrespectful, and didn't she say as much to Matt's friend's wife when they were walking and talking? I'm pretty sure she admitted to saying things she probably shouldn't have. But regardless, Caryn as a witness doesn't make any sense because at the end of the day it's still just their word against Matt's. If Caryn doesn't have any legal ownership to any part of the farm, which we believe she does not, she had no business being there. That alone would have escalated tensions before the meeting began. Jumping in as Matt's flying monkey (which is a term related to narcissists and narcissistic abuse) was like gas on a fire already burning.
  21. If it’s true that Caryn made derogatory or disrespectful comments to Zach and Tori during the farm meeting, and she seemed to admit as much, that’s reason enough for them to not want their kids to be around her.
  22. Yeah, you know, family dynamics are weird. I’m not defending anyone here, but I’ve got a 6-month old nephew that I’ve never met and I live a mile away from my brother and sister-in-law. I went to their house the day my family was visiting to meet him and they didn’t answer the door when I rang the bell. Between them they have multiple iPhones on them, apple watches and an elaborate high definition home surveillance system that is connected to all their devices. There’s no way they didn’t know I was standing on their porch to deliver my baby gift and say a quick hello, and the excuses were pretty bogus. My sister-in-law has some sort of grizz on for me and I have no idea why. I don’t take it personally. I don’t like that they’re making a story line out of the situation with Caryn. It’s Zach and Tori’s choice just like it’s my brother and sister-in-law’s choice. ETA: They never thanked me for the baby gift either 😝
  23. Isn’t Chris a real estate agent? It makes sense to me that he would keep up on the farm listing. That’s what real estate agents do. I live in a tourist area and it’s practically a full contact sport. Yes you can wear makeup to a C-section. Women do it all the time. In a typical c-section the mother is awake and not intubated so no need to tape anything to her face. Oxygen, if needed, is typically delivered by nasal cannula so the mother can continue to speak easily. I used to sell the equipment.
  24. Honestly I’m shocked she hasn’t tried to get Bryn’s name changed.
