I think we need to make this happen. Mrs. Hughes is really the puppet master pulling all the strings of the great criminal enterprise that is "The Abbey." How long before we learn that the art guy flirting with Isis was really an international art thief, sent by Blake for revenge on being rejected by Mary? Or maybe he will seduce Cora, and she, Anna, and Edith will have to carry him across the house to hid the body, since we are obviously repeating every storyline. I think what this show needs is more crazy capers with Mary and Anna. Well at least with people who are more interesting than Mary and Anna.

Is there a new director this season? Or specifically someone new handling sound? It seemed like some of the dialogue was quieter than it used to be. Maybe Pratt was just reading a quieter level. And I thought Hammond's opening was too quiet too, and he should know how to do this. I think this shows why it might be a good idea to have an established host, like Amy or Tina or even Alec Baldwin host the premier. That is just one less thing to worry about, while you try to shake off the summer of cobwebs that naturally accumulate. I think the show got better as it went along. I liked the Vets sketch last season, but there was no reason to repeat it. And the world could use more Kate in every way.

Favorite SNL Sketches: Generalissimo Francisco Franco is Still Dead
ajsnaves replied to Kromm's topic in Saturday Night Live
I love Old Glory Insurance. "For when the metal ones decide to come for you. And they will." One of my favorites ads is "Big Red" "He's big big big. And he's red red red." -
Our Bar Review got canceled by the dean my first year because they went to a strip club, and said some very inappropriate things about some students in the flyer they announced it on. A local news paper caught wind, which lead the major local paper picking it up. It became a thing, and the dean had to step in. One thing I did notice. These kids are not nearly as smart as they think they are at the end of the semester. Second and third year, favorite day of the year was the day the 1L first semester grades came out. Just seeing their bubble burst when they find out they are not the smartest person in the building almost made up for this massive debt.

Roseanne Alphabet Game: That was my joke guess!

M is for Mom, which is what you will NOT call Beverly. It is either Bev or Sea Hag. -
Things that are really like law school? Well there are really gunners, who have to have the answer to everything and are always competing with everybody. And, that's about it I think. Oh and the all consuming fear that you will get called on the one day you forgot to read those cases. I don't remember the taking part in many murder trials as a 1L. I remember a lot of reading. I remember dissecting statutes. Mostly I remember law school being just like high school. Everything was in one building and we all had lockers. And I drank more. If she wanted to make this useful to these future criminal defense lawyers, she should call it "How to Get Away with Disorderly Conduct" or "How to Get Away with Retail Theft" or most importantly "How to Get Away with Selling Weed." Those come up far more often than murder.

The Wishlist: What We'd Like To See & What We Expect
ajsnaves replied to vb68's topic in Saturday Night Live
See, I love Jake the Bar Mitzvah boy, even though it is the same thing every time. I don't need to see him more than 2 or 3 times a season, but he makes me laugh. I agree about the Girlfriends talk show though. Baby executive is ok. But some people seem to like it, so who am I to deny them that. A lot of people hated Wiig's Target Lady, but I found it hysterical. Has anyone heard what their schedule is for replaying old episodes at 10pm (Or 9pm where i live)? Are we starting with 1975 this Saturday night? By the way, if they did one for every season we would get to June 21st for the first 39 seasons. I wonder if they will skip some. -
One of the questions I have is why did they ask Carson to chair their fund raising group? I have no doubt that Carson could do it or is well respected in the village. But there was something in the way she was speaking to him, ordering him about, that made me uncomfortable. I am wondering if they chose Carson because they think he will be easy to control. Which will lead to something happening and Robert (Who I should henceforth call Donk) coming in to save the day. Being the noble man that he is. I wonder who Jimmy will have to save to save his job. I say George swinging from the chandelier in the gallery. He was put there by Sybbie as revenge for being the favored heir with the original nanny. Or maybe Isis locks herself in a shed again.

Did we even get a FredEx last week? I know they sent something, but I don't remember the video. -
"The Daily Show": Week of 9/15/14
ajsnaves replied to trow125's topic in The Daily Show With Jon Stewart [V]
Well since he is gone after this week, I don't think we will see what kind of correspondent he could have become. I am kind of sad to see him go. But happy to see him on SNL. -
I love Winston, but I don't know if much more Winston would be a good thing. I like to think of him as the salt of the group. Just the right amount enhances the flavor of everybody. Too much potentially ruins the whole thing. My favorite Winston moment last night was him yelling "I CAN'T CLOSE MY ASS!" followed by Jess, Nick, and Coach's reaction shots. I do want to actually see Winston in the police academy. And I kinda want it to be exactly like the movie, including a visit to the Blue Oyster Bar.

I have no idea what "woolgathering" is, but in my mind it's just another word for sheep shearing. Please tell me that is what it is is. Because if I saw that on a train, you would be my favorite person there. My cousin's girlfriend is from Scotland, in fact I am pretty sure they are over there visiting now so she can vote. So I knew about the referendum, but I really didn't know anything about. So I was glad John had a story about it to fill in a little bit. (Much as I am glad CBS Sunday Morning had one as well. That one was not has funny though.) I really wish the US media had more coverage. I suppose they will in the next day or two. Oh, and if I were to pick a mythical creature to be the national animal, I would pick a griffin. Unicorns are great and all, but a griffin can fly. Ooh, unless it was the Pegasus unicorn from that commercial recently.

So I completely forgot that Nick was wearing tap shoes until we hear him running away from Schmidt and Winston half way through. And then I could not not hear that sound. And I loved it. All in all this was a great episode for me, with everyone paying to their strengths, but not too far afield as they did sometimes last season. And we got both a sex fist and a sex finger.

I came up with Dr. Seuss right away, because I knew he had a book about a lot of hats. Then I questioned it because of the year given. But could not come up with anything else. I was a bit discouraged by all the triple stumpers, In the Roosevelts category, I can understand not knowing Campopello, but not knowing New Deal? And nobody could have guessed Margaret Thatcher? But who am I to judge? I don't think I got any of the music ones in Double Jeopardy. As to Trebek and his bitchin' new mustache. I think I actually prefer him without it at this point. But give me a few weeks, and I will get used to it. Then he will shave it.

The Wishlist: What We'd Like To See & What We Expect

You think that's weird. Wait until everybody is younger than you. I had this thought, and had to check. Fortunately Bobby is about 6 months older than me. -

VH1 Classic aired the Best of Christopher Walken today. It has been a while since he has hosted. Maybe this is the year with him pushing Peter Pan in December. Maybe the November 22nd episode, assuming the above schedule is correct. -
SNL Outside Projects: From Animal House to Wayne's World

See, I thought he was funny. I also thought he was funny in the few things he did on Weekend Update. But that is the way of the world. We can't all find the same things funny. if we did, what would we complain about online? -
Why exactly is an FBI agent investigating what appears to be a run of the mill homicide? While I am enjoying the show, I don't know if I can keep it up once the network fall season starts. I don't know if I will make it past next week's episode.

I think Moffat is really good at individual episodes. By and large the episodes he wrote when RTD was in charge were some of the best of Who. I just don't think he is a good show runner, or at coming up with sweeping, season long arcs. Maybe he is a good producer, but needs someone on the creative side to guide the show more. Or maybe it is just time for him to move on, and give others what I am sure is a huge pain in the ass responsibility. I don't want to sound like I don't enjoy the show anymore. I do. Just as much now, if not more, than when I started watching in 2006. But as so many people have pointed out, there are so many rehashes of old monsters, and old characters, that some fresh blood might be nice I had the same issues with RTD near the end of his run too. But I am the eternal optimist. Maybe they will turn things around this season. And I did love Capalldi and his darkness. Even when he called us pudding brains. That's no worse than Nine calling us stupid apes. The Doctor needs that dark, I'm better than you because I am smarter than you. swagger. Clara I can take or leave going forward. She doesn't annoy me too much. She doesn't thrill me as most special person in whole universe either. But I liked that she held her own when she was alone, and stood up for herself against Vastra. It will be interesting to see how she plays against the older Twelve. I am hoping for a more of a Donna-like vibe going forward. They're just mates traveling through time and space.

I've been thinking about Clara and her reaction to the "New" Doctor. And here is where I think it makes some sense. Yes, she has see all 12 of his previous faces. She knows that he regenerates into different people. But she has also seen Eleven grow old. In her mind, maybe the Doctor regenerates from an old man into a young man, who then gets old again. And based on what she has seen, that is an understandable belief. Now she sees the "young" Eleven regenerate into the "old" Twelve. So clearly in her mind something must be wrong, ie the regeneration didn't work. At least that is how I am fanwanking her reaction. Although I was convinced early on that she was not really Clara, which is why Vastra needed her veil again. As to the rest of the episode, I was very happy with it. I loved the slower moments and the look into Vastra, Jenny, and Strax's lives. I also liked seeing the uneasiness of Twelve with Clara in the end. He almost seemed like a lost puppy. His fear was well played.

Well she did do everything Phil did but backwards and in heels. Well Phil did wear heels too on occasion. I would say that Jan Hooks is the Jan Brady of SNL And to keep this media thread appropriate, here is today's article talking about yesterday's results, with special emphasis on Maya. I agree 100% and am sad I chose not to record today's Britney Murphy rerun to see "Talking Tennis with Time Traveling Scott Joplin." Good thing I was able to find it online.

What I think is telling about the Sandler v. Farley are the clips they chose. What has made the Lunch Lady song funny to me is not Sandler, but Farley's dancing. Without Farley, that song goes nowhere. I think there are many people that could give Murphy or Murry a run for their money. In fact, I would put Gilda ahead of Murry. But I think people like Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, or Bill Hader are just as funny as Eddie Murphy. What I want to know is how the hell did Rob Schneider get past Jan Hooks, or Darryl Hammond (Who I find very funny) get past Maya Rudolph.

Oh that's good news. And here's hoping his will spend a good portion of the season sans shirt. .

I too have been doing a rewatch from Rose onward. And I too skipped some episodes. Some I skipped because I just watched them recently. Some I skipped because I wanted to get this done in the next day or so so I can take a bit of a break and build my excitement. And some I skipped because I really disliked the episodes. So Favorite episodes Nine Dalek Empty Child/Doctor Dances Boom Town (Unpopular opinion I know) Parting of the Ways. Ten School Reunion Girl in the Fireplace Human Nature/Family of Blood Blink Midnight Eleven Amy's Choice Vincent and the Doctor The Doctor's Wife Dinosaurs on a Spaceship The Crimson Horror. Least Favorite: Episodes that I will never watch if I can avoid them. The Long Game Fear Her Daleks Take Manhattan 42 Hungry Earth/Cold Blood The Rebel Flesh/Almost People I enjoy the rest. Some more than others. Some that seem to be universally hated (I will stand in defense of The Unicorn and the Wasp). But those 6 stories are the only ones that I will always skip.
