  1. I am sorry, Drogo. I was afraid I was missing something obvious. I didn't think to scroll down. :(
  2. Maybe that was last year. I don't remember either. But my point is that the Season 16 topic is completely empty. If this is really 17, where is 16?
  3. I just went to the thread for Season 16 to refresh my memory about something and the thread is completely blank. According to the topic listings, Kristin was runner up to Ariel in Season 15. So is "Season 17" an error or am I missing something that should be obvious?
  4. Ditto. She is the worst of the worst. As others have said, I don't remember the majority of these people. Of the ones I do recall, the only one I remember in any detail is Milly. I hated his beard (still do) and he doesn't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer but he doesn't seem like a bad guy. I liked him during his season. That could change. The only person on Hell's Kitchen whom I always actually like is Marino.
  5. Apparently, FN spent so much time and effort promoting Whatshername Hart that they practically ignored this new show even though it's their FNS winner's first show. I'm glad I caught it. Jason was himself but not OTT. I thought he did well. I was dismayed to see Marcela because I can't stand her but I have to admit that she was fine. Adam Rapoport has impressive credentials and I wonder how he ended up on FN as a judge. I recognized Adalberto, Dwayne, Andy, Susan (Suzanne?) and Cheryl immediately. I liked them all except Cheryl - loathed her the first go-round and loathed her again last night. I hope someone starts a Forum for this show. I thought about doing it but I'm not creative and coming up with episode titles defeated me.
  6. I always enjoy this show so I'm glad it's back. I like all the judges too. I wonder if Zac Young is really short. He looked small sitting between Carla and Lorraine. All the contestants except the woman who was eliminated have serious credentials so I was surprised that so many of them did so poorly on the second challenge. Maybe that's a direct result of the time constraints. I felt sort of sorry for the guy whose balloons were popping until he kept trying again and again and wasting time instead of doing something else. I could hear popping in the background even when the cameras were on someone else. He must have tried dozens of them. Either the balloons were defective or he was doing something wrong over and over and over. I liked John Henson when he was on Worst Cooks and I thought he did a good job as host.
  7. I liked the Po' Boys crew. They seemed like nice people but the Braised guys have been my favorites all along so I'm glad they won. I hope they take that 50K (minus taxes) and put it towards something mutually beneficial. I sort of hated the pedicab challenge partly because any outdoor activity in heat is my idea of misery and partly because I was worried one of them would pass out from all that physical activity they weren't used to, especially on a very hot day.
  8. I'm all for them working the phones and posting to social media as long as the person doing it isn't driving. It just makes me nuts watching someone driving a huge vehicle in traffic in an unfamiliar city while talking on their cell phone. It also sets a really bad example. And is illegal many places. Maybe those bits are staged but I watch the scenery passing outside the truck or car windows and they don't seem to be. FN should know better.
  9. I was thinking that very thing last night when the second hour started (usually a rerun) and I couldn't recall ever having seen it before. I often realize I've forgotten a lot of the rerun shows but I usually recall something even if it's just the mystery ingredient. Later, when I looked at my DVR, I discovered that it had recorded both shows so maybe the second one wasn't a rerun after all. I don't think they've ever shown two new shows in a row before though. I remain puzzled. I've always liked Jose Garces and I think he does a good job as a judge and seems to enjoy it.
  10. I was hoping Niko would win as soon as I saw the four competitors and I was shocked when they eliminated him first. I have no recollection of Heather at all. In that dress she was wearing, she looked like a Little Bo Peep who had gained about 80 pounds. What on earth is MacKenzie doing with her hair? She seems to be trying out various new and weird styles none of which have been attractive or flattering. She looks great when she just looks like herself. I think I got a quick glimpse of Cig in the preview for next week. I'm looking forward to seeing him again.
  11. PBS.org has U.S. seasons 1-4 (U.K. seasons 4-7) for sale in their Shop PBS store. They're on sale right now for $12.99 each.
  12. And take her commercials with her. They seem to be on constantly and they're enough to make me avoid this show like the plague. Also her haircut.
  13. I was so hoping that Joe would go all the way this year because he's been so good for so long and he's a great favorite of mine but, when I noticed there were only about six minutes left when he started Stage 3, I knew he wasn't going to make it. I would have been happy for Sean and/or Najee too. I hated that Drew and Daniel Gil didn't make it past Stage 2. I suppose NBC couldn't justify paying Kacy to be there seeing as she's officially quit the show but they just had to get some footage of her in there anyway. Gah. I wonder what the producers have against Nicholas Coolridge. They haven't shown an entire run of his this whole season. When does Team NW start?
  14. Thanks. I don't know how I missed that. I liked it OK and would watch if they make new episodes but I prefer Tyler's multi-episode show.
  15. I was delighted to see Braised win and I hope they take the whole thing although I like the Po' Boys crew too. I ended up quite confused because I watched the food truck show that came on right after GFTR which was a clone of the original right down to the dialogue but with a "Tyler" I didn't recognize. And there was Mr. Po' Boys, the same people but with more personality. I couldn't figure out how one crew was on two food truck competitions at the same time. I'm still wondering.
  16. As I said last week, I was pretty sure Rocco would win this time. He can be an arrogant PIA but he behaved nicely on this show. I thought Justin should have gone to the finale instead of Alex because the judges usually are the most harsh about technique. Alex's peppers were charred and bitter. Justin's stuff was well cooked but they didn't like the oysters which is more about taste than technique. I was surprised when he selected nasty canned oysters because they're nothing like fresh ones. He did himself in.
  17. I never thought I'd ever say this but I like Justin too. For years after he won FNS, he was one of the top three FN people I couldn't stand but he's grown up a lot since then and I actually am glad to see him now. He used to work so hard at being an edgy smart alec that he masked the fact that he's highly intelligent and knowledgeable. Now I see what Alton saw in him.
  18. That's a very good point. Medics are always called for injuries because liability is a scary word. There's no way the hosts, the unseen producers who are just out of camera range and the medics you know are there would stand by when a contestant goes splat on a hard floor.
  19. I was going to say the same thing. I'd never even heard of a couple of the dishes they were supposed to find. How would I know what they were supposed to taste like? Also, recognizing a dish doesn't necessarily mean someone would know its origin. I know that a pasty is a hand pie of British origin and I'd think that was one everyone would know but, based upon whatshisname's response, I would be wrong. It looked to me like each team had a whole table full of dishes to choose from. Swapping the two that were wrong wouldn't have worked unless they just got lucky with their wrong choices. I thought Carmen's fall looked a bit suspicious when it happened because Anne made no move to rush to the scene of the accident. I had the feeling that she expected it. Carmen's leaving evened up the teams a bit and eliminating no one kept the production schedule on track. Yes, I'm a cynic.
  20. I love Meagan and wish she had more success. I think maybe she thinks too much and gets in her own way. As a rock climber, she's used to planning ahead and considering every step before she takes action and she just doesn't have that kind of time in ANW. It seems to me that she's made it up the warped wall plenty of times during the Team NW competitions so it's not that she can't do it.
  21. I've always thought that Mackenzie is a beautiful woman but she looks like she's aged 10 years since last season. She looks much better with her hair down too. That dated updo tonight did her no favors. Neither did the style she sported two weeks ago.
  22. All the driving around searching for spots never makes sense to me. I'm sure FN has to make all kinds of arrangements with host cities including applications for temporary vendors' licenses and so on. They must know where the trucks can and cannot park. Also, when they do find spots, they always are conveniently large enough to hold a big truck AND a car. I liked the guy on Southern Frenchie (who looked like he might be related to the Property Brothers) but his wife had one of the worst voices I've ever heard. I pretty much recoiled through every one of her THs. The thought of her singing was a bit horrifying and it was as bad as I'd feared. I like the Po' Boys guys except for the crying and the woman with the terrible eye make up seems OK but I hope Braised wins. They seem like normal people who don't need shticks and they clearly can cook.
  23. When I looked at the line up of remaining chefs, I figured Brian Malarkey would be next out before they even started just based on a status pecking order so I wasn't surprised. I did think it was wrong to penalize him for the salt in ingredients he was required to use although I suppose the judges' argument would be that he should have done something more to counteract the saltiness. I suspect that it will come down to Alex and Rocco with Rocco being the designated winner this year.
  24. Hurray! This is one of my favorite shows and I've been wondering if it would be on again this season. Good news.
  25. The first couple seasons were actually like that. They started with people who really couldn't cook and taught them knife skills and so on before moving on to more complex tasks. They didn't start with lobsters and recipes with numerous ingredients. It was a much better show.
