  1. I clearly have no eye for alien makeup because the two I liked best were the ones eliminated. I loved the green fishy one with the big eyes. I thought it was the only one that looked at all amusing. I still want Andrew to win based upon the season in general but I didn't like his alien and I loathed the blue one with the big neck. That triangular-headed thing with no face had a nice paint job but there wasn't anything remotely humorous about it. It didn't even look like a living creature. I'm always confused when the judges seem to say one thing during the closeups and another when they talk to the contestants. That has happened so often this season that I tend to feel like they're manipulating the outcomes. I never thought that before.
  2. Ted Allen. Anne Burrell. Now departed Bob Tuschman. I don't think FN has any bias against gay personnel. I adore Ron Ben-Israel and wish we'd see more of him. He and Jason together would be a hoot.
  3. Well, wow. I haven't liked Matthew any better than anyone else but I thought he did much, much better than Rusty. I was actually shocked when he was eliminated and I felt a bit sorry for him fighting back tears during his final comments. The cynic in me says that the producers have decided on either Jason or Cory for the win and they wanted the third person standing to be someone they could count on to be third. I hate when they do things so transparently phony as calling friends who just happen to be immediately available and agreeable to being on TV. Interesting that they didn't call anyone in Kentucky. Giada was obviously fond of Jason. She looked at him like she actually liked him as opposed to just going through the motions. I thought Guy's "help" and comments came across as phonier than whatever the contestants were doing/saying.
  4. I watched the trailer twice and I can't understand it. I think maybe one has to already know the words to whatever the cartoon baked goods are singing in order to make them out. In any event, it makes the show look it may have become a comedy. The thing that stood out for me was the representation of Paul from Wales' bread lion at the end.
  5. I like Jose Garces. He may be a bit low key but I've read several times that he's a thoroughly decent man who treats his employees very well. He has a huge restaurant empire so he must be doing something right.
  6. I was going to say the same thing. It made her come across as insecure or something even while her words expressed confidence. Perkily. I was glad she beat the jerk at the end. I liked the other guy.
  7. I love Daniel Gil. When we first saw him as a rookie, his back story was that he was studying/aspiring to be an opera singer. There was footage of him on a patio or some place outdoors practicing singing. I'm just speculating here and know nothing but I thought maybe his hair went along with his image of himself as an opera singer and, when he got so much attention about it during his first season on ANW, it became part of his persona and also a talisman. Just guessing. I'm glad Barkley did well and I hope Matt and Akbar will concentrate on her now if they want to laud little women and lay off Kacy who hasn't had a successful run since 2015. I'm sick to death of hearing about her. I'm also sick of Akbar's "I see you." What does that even mean anyway?
  8. Thanks. Maybe I'll be able to find it on Comcast after the September go live date.
  9. I've never heard of the Universal Kids network and I don't see it on my list of networks carried by Comcast. Is it a subsidiary of Bravo or something?
  10. I was pretty sure the losing team was going down the wrong path as soon as I saw the initial drawings before they even started to work. The skin eruptions were in different places on each victim. So much for cohesion. Then the starfish.......gah. Andrew for the win.
  11. I fervently hope that PBS will get this show for Mary Berry's legions of U.S. fans who are mourning the disappearance of the GBBS as we know it.
  12. They never do. They save the "big reveal" so the TV audience finds out when the winner walks out to rejoin the remaining contestants.
  13. I've been wondering why people disliked Jane also. She's been one of my favorites since the first episode. I've been afraid to do any searching for information before the finale because I don't want to accidentally get spoiled like I did last season but I will when it's over. I don't care for Candice and her constantly pulling faces but I have to admit that she deserved star baker this week. Her peacock was one of the few creations this season that have approached the skill and creativity of previous contestants. I figured Benjamina would go as soon as she announced that she was going to use Mexican flavors in a Tudor-inspired bake. That made no sense and I wondered why she even considered doing so. She might have got away with it if her final product had been outstanding. But it wasn't and she knew it.
  14. I'm looking forward to this now that I know it will feature people we know. Dare I hope for Cig and George and even Tate? I'd also like to see the young woman who was a cake decorator and who made beautiful creations. Dina?
  15. Aw. I like Grant and I love his curly hair. I hated it when the airline made him cut his hair. I've been wondering if he still works as a flight attendant because he seems to have had time to be on TV shows and go to Alaska and has let his hair grow back. Maybe he's doing Ninja stuff full time now. I think Papal Ninja is a silly name but I think it's neat that the priests he works for and lives with come and support him. He kind of reminds me of Joe Moravsky in that he's an ordinary looking guy with a regular job who has serious skills.
  16. What on earth did she do for two days? It looked like she spent most of it drawing on her own arm. Suzanne at least tried. I liked her but she really did deserve to be sent home. She had a neat idea but the execution was terrible. As others have said, I noticed that Faina turned and walked off without even acknowledging her model. I haven't warmed up to her at all because she seems to have a snippy, self-important attitude.
  17. That's good news about the show but I can hardly stand to look at Alton. With the shaved head and grey whiskers, he looks like he's aged a decade or more. The dark and contrasting frames don't help.
  18. That is true. I've often noticed that on Chopped where they get called out about "sanitation" if they don't flip the boards but I rarely see anyone wash his/her hands after handling all manner of things. The only person I can think of who routinely washes her hands while cooking is Anne Burrell. I never watch Giada so I don't know what she does or doesn't do.
  19. Thanks to everyone above for letting me know where I could buy DVDs and also that YouTube has Master Classes. Lots of them. I'll have GBBS to watch for ages. :)
  20. I'm impressed by your expertise, dyna. Personally, I was wondering if I could bring some crossword puzzles.
  21. Thanks for posting this. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Dave was my favorite from the beginning of his season just because I liked him. I didn't think he'd win until halfway through when I saw his steady determination. I was very happy for him. He writes well.
  22. I don't think it was a question of "not good enough," just a fact that a cabin would indeed be an improvement and safer. I'm sure Brooke told him about the wolves. Dave was almost rapturous over Brooke's shelter when he arrived from his hike exhausted, dirty and hungry. He praised her shelter with a soft bed and a fire. Now they're working together to build something more comfortable for the long haul. The only tension I've noticed was the time she screamed when she caught a fish and scared him because he thought something bad happened. Although I'm impressed with Dave and Brooke, my favorites are Pete and Sam. I hope they win.
  23. I agree with all the comments including taking only what you need and using what you take. I just didn't fault the brothers for not expressing their thanks for the food out loud to the duck so we could all hear it.
  24. I don't get that either. It's already dead. And not capable of understanding an apology even if it were still alive. It's meaningless but it must make the "hunter" feel better or something.
  25. I didn't know that. I'm not sure if it's allowed here to say where they can be purchased. If it is, I'd like to know. If not, just ignore this comment and I'll check around. Thanks.
