  1. Sadly this show is out of fresh ideas and has to resort to woe is him contrivance to stutter along. Indeed, welcome to another season of misery.
  2. I try to suspend my disbelief but seeing the Alexander the Great image in that alien hall took me out of the story. Maybe for the icy set design of your Star Trek show don't choose an image of a king so famous that I knew of him before I was six years old? One of my first books was a picture story of his exploits. Do people really assume that we don't know the very basics of history anymore. That was my least favorite episode of the season so far. I just didn't care for it.
  3. He is so great there is one in every universe?
  4. I thought it was heart-breaking but not in the way I feared I would have my heart broken. Nobody I cared for died. To me my man Bright had the most hopeful ending. He will return to India, the place of his halcyon days. I can imagine he may continue his painting, find peace visiting where his daughter died. I can imagine him meeting a nice woman. I can imagine good things for him. I can hope he would not be one of those professional men who drop dead a few years after retirement. Thursday did not die though they certainly trolled us into thinking he would. He and Morse did part on good terms though Thursday certainly fell off the pedestal in a terrible way. No matter what Thursday said I believe that killing will haunt him. Morse showed mercy when he didn't tell him who he killed. As for Morse, I just can't get out of my mind how dour and cynical and unhappy I find his older self. They certainly stuck the ending. They ended the way they had been for its entire run - classy and complicated. I am sad it's over. I am glad I watched the show.
  5. So did I! Can I sit at your table? I am grateful to be getting new Star Trek with actors and characters I really like. This show is fun for me and I found the episode both entertaining and rather touching.
  6. He was very good in Sanditon and comes across as sane in real life, always a plus, lol. I don't understand what has happened to Laurence Fox, he didn't used to be that way. How awkward for his family. I am so afraid for Bright for the finale. Don't break my heart, show!
  7. I am so grateful to this thread for remembering more than I do about certain events. I don't remember Thursday being shot and Morse being arrested. You would think I would remember this if I had seen these episodes. The missed pub date is the relationship of Morse and Joan in a nutshell. She'll think he flaked out on her or decided not to come while he was unavoidably delayed. The aristo jerks are another example of why people often believe that the French Revolution was fundamentally right (before it became the Terror obviously). You want the Scarlett Pimpernel and what you are getting are young men like that. I sincerely hope a scene in the finale preview is misleading. How can they wrap all of this up to my satisfaction in the finale?
  8. My guess is they are smitten with each other and she is the future Mrs. Sullivan.
  9. Another good episode. I always enjoy these courtroom episodes in Star Trek. Bonus is I didn't predict how she was going to be saved.
  10. Grins. and I would like the ship to stay. I like their chemistry and am enjoying them while I can. I realize original recipe show canon is going to bite me in the ass sooner rather than later.
  11. I can't remember - was it ever explained why Morse left uni? He certainly had the brains to graduate. This was one of those episodes to really make Morse feel bad. He learns Joan is getting married. His father figure is focused on the problems of his real son. That asshole orchestra conductor makes him feel crappy by belittling his "amateur" singing. I really disliked both the murder victim and her killer. Not a fan of women writing nasty anonymous messages to other women. It is so extra petty. If you have something nasty to say to me say it to my face. I can totally understand why Joan distanced herself from Morse. I wouldn't want to be with a man who saw me at my weakest and unhappiest either. I never thought of Joan as a villain, flawed yes, but no villain. The guy who plays Thursday's son looks so familiar to me.
  12. I felt the gut punch when Endeavour learned that Strange would marry Joan. And to have to be the best man, ouch! Strange won't make her happy, but Morse wouldn't have made her happy either. There is unhappiness and then there is the unhappiness from having settled. Well, Joan will have plenty of company in other women sharing her fate. I was actually glad to learn that Ronny Box survived being shot and is making a life for himself as a private detective. I have the sinking feeling the Thursday and Morse relationship is doomed. Why would Morse never mention Thursday years later? As always I love Bright so much. I hope for a peaceful retirement for him.
  13. Tonight, folks! I am rather excited that it's back and sad that it is coming to its end.
  14. I liked it. I am kind of shipping Spock and Chapel. I prefer him with her over the one he is supposed to be with. I did miss Captain Pike.
  15. Can someone tell me what season I am watching? The last episode I just watched on KPBS San Diego had Father Brown and the two ladies helping Inspector Sullivan who was being framed by his corrupt London superior. At the end the inspector chooses to stay in Kembleford. It's become pretty clear why. Smiles. He is smitten with Mrs DeVine and vice versa. Is this season 10? Per the rules I didn't spoiler this post.
  16. Quoting myself ha, ha. My mother told me that guys in the 23 - 25 age range came across like men to her, now young men but definitely like men. Now to me guys of that age come across as teenage boys usually. And I don't mean that as a compliment.
  17. I don't know whether anybody is even interested but I read today that they are not charging Armie Hammer with rape. This is after a years long investigation. I used to like this actor before he destroyed his life and career when his sexual err habits became public. I always doubted that he was actually guilty of rape but that doesn't change my feeling of ickiness when his name comes to mind. I think he is a cautionary tale of choosing your partners wisely and with discretion when you are into kink.
  18. I have been re-watching Rome because of Ray Stevenson's passing and thought I should squeeze in the Citadel finale to finish the season and that was a mistake. It wasn't good to have the reminder what good story-telling and good acting look like when watching Citadel. I just don't care about the plot and any of these people. I am not going to watch a second season or this Italian variation.
  19. Tina Turner about Erwin Bach. Wow, her luck was really in when she met him at that airport. https://people.com/music/who-is-erwin-bach-tina-turner-husband/
  20. I just watched that video of Tina Turner and David Bowie performing together, and wow! the combined charisma and star power on display there when they are dancing and beaming at each other....made me smile and cry at the same time. After Ike she did have not only a great career but also a great life with a man worthy of her. He saved her life and gave them some more time together. Her energy on stage always made me go, how??? RIP to a wonderful lady and fantastic performer.
  21. I think the doctor was a particular nasty variety of sadist trying to do the most harm possible and reveling in it. He made George even more anxious. If I were Charlotte I would have had him imprisoned so he could never harm anybody else again.
  22. For me his Titus Pullo was one of the great characters. If you haven't seen Rome and him in it you are missing out. Only 58 - what a loss!
  23. I remember him so fondly from Rome, this is going to make it hard to watch this show now. Way too young to go. I was going to say something in the RIP thread but I don't know where it is now. What a bummer.
