  1. Bright looked more stunned to me than anything when they arrested Morse. He was very anti Morse in the first season but in the second season he seemed to have realized that Morse is a gifted police officer and has come across as more supportive of Morse. I could be naive of course and be wrong about Bright. But in light of that we know Morse goes on in his career and somebody with some power will have to help get him out of jail - maybe that somebody could be Bright? Ironically, as of this episode I now like Jakes better than Strange. I really hate that things look so dire for Thursday and no confirmation of a third season.
  2. This is how they ended it?? Arrrrrrgh! I hate cliffhangers.
  3. RIP James Garner. You gave my father countless joyful hours watching you on THE ROCKFORD FILES. And me as well when I could watch with him.
  4. Ouch. That demo is awful. Grasping at straws - maybe the DVR ratings are better? On FX THE AMERICANS has gotten renewed for a third season despite horrible same day ratings because most of the audience of that show watches later.
  5. Certainly the show is not what I was expecting either. As a child I read a Pulitzer price winning book by Tracy Kidder SOUL OF A NEW MACHINE which really gripped me at the time. I don't know whether anybody here remembers this book. It was a very important and revelatory book at the time and it influenced the way I thought about computers and the people who engineer and design them. So I was probably expecting or hoping that this show would be more along the lines of "Soul" (even though Kidders book is about a somewhat earlier era of computer development. Let's put it this way - nobody on this show is a Tom West.
  6. Gordon is rapidly turning into the kind of guy you might read on the news about that he killed himself and his entire family. I think our genius computer programmer is heading towards heart break with Joe. She is so very young and naive in a lot of ways. Joe seems to sexually collect people he finds interesting and fascinating. When he stops finding you fascinating it's bye-bye and thanks for the memories. Last night while I was watching the episode on AMC during a commercial break the announcer was saying "only 3 episodes left in this season". Could this mean there is actually a chance of this show getting a second season?
  7. I am more afraid they are going to kill Thursday himself off. I have been afraid of this right from the beginning of the series. I haven't watched more than a few episodes of the older Morse show but I am aware that the older man is kind of a pessimistic and cynical loner type. Losing a beloved and respected mentor in a violent way could go a long way towards that character development. I haven't seen any third season renewal - should I be worried about the longevity of the Endeavor series?
  8. I thought the first season had a lot of promise but I am loving this second season. The cases are interesting but the big draw for me besides of course the main characters are the sense of place and the time period, which are so well done. I am glad the last victim was saved in time because I very much liked the character. I am happy Morse is dating his neighbor. She seems to bring out Morse's more light-hearted side. I am very intrigued about Thursday having had a doomed love in his past.
  9. I really like the couple and the clients who they design and renovate for. Unlike LOVE IT OR LIST IT, etc. I am not constantly eye rolling through the episodes. I hope this show lasts a while.
  10. My local PBS station is running the first season now. No sign on the schedule for the second season though.
  11. Donna should divorce Gordon instead of having an affair, get child support and alimony and find a man who will appreciate her. She is beautiful and smart and deserves a partner worthy of her.
  12. I like him better now because as of this latest episode I feel I have a better handle on his character. I used to waffle back and forth between thinking him a sociopath or really screwed up. Now I am leaning towards really screwed up. I never saw him as the villain either. I have put Pushing Up Daisies on my netflix queue to check out Lee Pace in something else. I find him quite attractive. I am used to Scandinavian and German guys and I like tall men. Most American actors are so short.
  13. That was my favorite episode so far, I was fully engaged for it and I actually liked Joe for maybe the first time ever. What a great moment when he was modeling himself after the bill board model. Also good were his interactions with the children. I don't know whether this is an unpopular opinion but I really dislike Gordon. He is a horrible husband and his wife could be doing so much better than him.
  14. I don't know. So far this show is much too gloomy and doomy for me. I am kind of bored watching parts of it already which can't be a good sign.

I remember some bad behavior and temper tantrums some years ago. Even without taking these incidents into account there is something about the way he comes across that really turns me off him as both an athlete and as a human being. Whenever he is playing I always root for his opponent, no matter who it is.
  16. Oops! I don't know why I wrote that - some kind of weird Freudian slip?
  17. https://www.flickr.com/photos/24536997@N08/sets/72157622240078878/detail/ The ASOIAF art of Michael Komarck. He's done a great Jaime Lannister.
  18. Oh yes to PROFIT being so ahead of its time with its "hero". The irony being that only a few years later Tony Soprano came along and took the country by storm. Bleh, FOX has canceled more shows I found fascinating and promising than any other US network.
  19. Yes, I called my cable company and found out that unfortunately they do not offer the MHZ in my area at this time. So I can only read the books right now.
  20. http://winteriscoming.net/2014/06/23/familiar-face-returning-game-thrones-season-5/#comments It's looks like Tom Wlaschiha is back in season 5 according to winteriscoming which usually gets these casting things right. I am happy about it because I really liked this actor when he was on in the second season.
  21. I read the first four books years before the TV series started. I read the fifth book once the TV series was on. Ever since I read the third book Jaime has been my favorite character - his POVs really speak to me. Though I started to think he was special ever since that dungeon scene with Cat in the second book. I am really happy with NCW playing him but the writing for the character on the TV show has been very very frustrating for me. When they are on they are really on - but when they are off, when they go off the reservation with Jaime - oi we, it's painful to watch. I think I am doomed to not get what I want out of the books or the show because I don't give a damn about either Dany or Jon. I also have had this feeling for a long time that GRRM will never finish the books. Something will happen and he won't be able to finish. I had the same kind of weird feeling when earlier this year I just suddenly knew that Lady Stoneheart would not appear this season. So while lots of people where throwing a hissy fit because they were expecting her in the finale I was going oh well...
  22. Heroes. Revenge. Though usually what happens to me is that shows get cancelled before they ever have a chance to live up to any promise I think they may have. I don't have a lot of luck finding American network TV dramas that I a) stick with long term and b) if I want to stick with them manage to stay on the air long enough for me to get tired of them. If it wasn't for cable and foreign TV I would spend all of my TV time reading books.
  23. I want to third the recommendation for Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. I am watching the first season now and I am loving it. The heroine is awesome and there are some really likable supporting characters. And the costumes are divine. Unfortunately only the first season is available on netflix.
  24. Well, I don't think the incest is the sickest thing about it. The sickest to me is the imbalance in that relationship - that for Jaime Cersei was always the only one and he loves her truly, while Cersei's "love" for Jaime is reflected self-love and manipulation. At least in the books Jaime finally woke up and started to see Cersei more clear-eyed. It's amazing that it took him so long because Jaime going by his POVs is actually a pretty smart guy with a lot of good sense in observing people. And he has genuine empathy - this Cersei completely lacks. Yes, that relationship is toxic and the incest is the least of it. Sometimes I believe that where GRRM is going with the Cersei/Jaime thing is Jaime finally being the one to kill her, not Tyrion. It wouldn't negate that prophesy because Cersei was born first and then Jaime. So he is the younger twin.
  25. Thanks to this board I discovered the series and decided to rent the first season from Netflix. I am watching the first episode now. Looks like I have a lot to look forward to.
