  1. Here's the press release about the latest ratings: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/08/26/outlander-sets-new-series-highs-with-third-episode/296953/
  2. I always have to remind myself when some point is not only made but hammered home that this program - while certainly a show that both children and adults can enjoy - that many small children watch Doctor Who. I think the best episodes are those that have something to delight the children and some subtext to please the adults.
  3. I don't have Itunes - how can I listen to the podcast?
  4. I like Peter Capaldi's Doctor. The episode was like all the regeneration episodes I have seen - confusing, bewildering. By the end Capaldi was the Doctor to me. I'll accept him until the next version comes along. The Ninth Doctor was my first Doctor and he really wowed me and my favorite companion is Donna Noble. I had to learn the hard way that the more you love someone on this show the more you get your heart broken eventually. And that "eventually" can come sooner than you think.
  5. I liked the brothers room the best and I think it looks tasteful and neutral. Which from a selling stand point may work in their favor when all is said and done. Curtis and Amanda - their taste is not my taste but I do admire what they can get done with so little money and their can do attitude. The other two teams I wasn't too thrilled with their living rooms. I wouldn't want to buy their condos judging by the living rooms.
  6. I love the knitted scarf Claire wore in this episode, it's very beautiful in an understated way. Gaillis is so fascinating to me. There is something off about her. It's like she is being helpful to Claire and that poor boy in trouble not out a sense of goodness but because it seems to amuse her somehow. She certainly knows how to manipulate that fool husband of hers - what a mismatched pair they make. I agree with the notion that she knows about Claire.
  7. I love this actress. She was fantastic on THE BORGIAS where she played the mistress of Jeremy Irons character, the Borgia Pope. She has the kind of beauty which lends itself really well to period roles. She played a kind and decent woman on The Borgias. I have no idea what kind of person she is on OUTLANDER but I know Lotte will make her interesting.
  8. I wonder if anybody can go through these stones if the moment is right - or whatever else needs to be right . Or if only certain special people can pass through. And if I was Claire I wouldn't be so certain that these stones function as a time portal into the future. Maybe you can only go one time and only into the past. I wish I wasn't having such a hard time making out what the Scottish characters are saying. I can only understand about every third word Jamie is saying. I am missing out on a lot of subtext too because I am constantly trying to catch up on conversations.
  9. I don't understand why they were so mean to Jamie and made the beating he took for the girl so much more nasty than it had to be. I thought the man who punched him in his bad shoulder was his friend. With friends like these who needs enemies. I took an instant liking to Cillis (spelling?) The actress is so beautiful and I remember her fondly from The Borgias.
  10. I am happy about the renewal. I will however cancel Starz after the airing of the first 8 episodes and then re-subscribe next year for the other 8. I don't enjoy being jerked around with this split season nonsense. I don't subscribe to any pay channel for the whole year and I am going to do the same thing with Starz that I am doing with Game Of Thrones on HBO.
  11. Maybe they are waiting to see how the second episode performs in the ratings? And how many subscribers they have gained because of OUTLANDER. That's probably the most important thing to them, the subscriber numbers. I have subscribed to STARZ now only because of the show to support the series and its continuation.
  12. My wish for Jaime is that he lives to old age and becomes somewhat of a wise leader figure. Who influences rash young people in a positive way or something like it. That would be more interesting and less cliche to me than Jaime getting killed by Lady Stoneheart or Dany's dragons, or dying in some heroic stunt. Of course I dream and GRM laughs at notions like this.
  13. I thought Claire and Jamie had nice chemistry of the kind where there is a mutual being somewhat intrigued by each other. Anything more at this point would make Claire look flighty in my eyes and I couldn't root for her. After all while the ancestor Black Jack looks to be a nasty guy her husband is a decent man and seems to adore her.
  14. I didn't get the impression that Claire made a habit out of not wearing undies. I think that was just an exception so she could seduce her husband - a strategy that was obviously very successful. I liked this first episode and have subscribed to Starz so I can continue watching it. I haven't read the books and am only familiar with what I could not avoid in the hype for this. So I am pretty unspoiled . I am however aware that the Jamie guy is the literary boyfriend of quite a few ladies so my expectations are high. One thing I thought even under all the period grime is that Jamie looks younger than Claire.
  15. If the show had ended with last week's episode I would have been more in need of a second season. Now I am okay if this is it. I am also back to really disliking Joe. He must think he is such a special snow flake when in reality he is more like a strange weed that is hard to get rid of. I can't help comparing this show to the reaction I had to BREAKING BAD when it began - it was low rated then and probably in danger of cancellation but I needed those characters to come back for more. I feel no such need for any of the characters in HALT.
  16. That seems like nonsense to me. I am going to guess that the average person can put up a shower rod and curtain but might be intimidated by having to center fixtures. I can certainly do the first but would have to call professional help to do the second.
  17. To me the mouse remains one of the most appreciated computer inventions ever. It makes using computers "comfortable" for me . I felt so bad for Donna - to be betrayed like this by a guy she had trusted and crushed on to a certain extent. Actually I felt really bad for all our main characters by the end. I think maybe Cameron is going to make out the best knowing the future of computers. She is young and has the "right" kind of talent.
  18. I think the bathroom that had the dark brown color design should have won. To me it looked the best overall. The winning bathroom had those big mistakes with not centering the fixtures. The other two bathrooms were worse because the one wasn't even close to finished and the other was just too knick-nacky and individual in taste.
  19. I don't think I could continue to follow the story if Jaime died this way. I have kind of resigned myself that there is no way Jaime is making it out of the story alive but for Jaime to die in such a manner would kill it for me - no pun intended.
  20. Thank you for posting the trailer! Looks creepy and forboding.
  21. I am glad they are making a second season. This show is a nice palate cleanser for me when all those nasty people on some of the other HGTV shows get too much for me. I am always shocked by how low the cost of these houses are they are renovating for their clients. I am used to California home prices.
  22. Did he say by any chance when this third series is supposed to air? So I had a chance to watch the video chat and things I learned from it are a) that Shaun Evans is nothing like his character. (He has such a lovely and infectious smile and a certain lightness of spirit to him.) b) that there will be a third series and c) it will most likely take place in 1966/67. What year did the second series cover?
  23. Judging by what I have seen of Rupert Graves lately, mostly SHERLOCK, etc. he looks better now than he did when he was very young. He's become a grey fox.
  24. Anybody here going to SDCC? VIKINGS will have a panel on Friday. Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, Alexander Ludwig, and the awesome Lagertha herself are all scheduled to appear.
  25. About IMDB saying two years til the next Endeavour - one thing to keep in mind is that IMDB is user generated and not all that reliable as official confirmation. It is troubling that there has been no official renewal at all. Why are they dragging their feet? I thought the show got good ratings in the UK. Oh yes, that dummy was freaky as hell. Really to me dummies, clowns and mimes are a trifecta of evil.
