  1. Poor Stockard Channing. Another plastic surgery cautionary tale. I feel awful for Cary. I understand that Alicia is upset that her son did not confide in her about his girlfriend's abortion. However, the abortion is the girlfriends business, not Alicias. Bishop is a real smooth operator.
  2. I want to be a mystery shopper. Just not on this particular version of the Orient Express. I loved this episode. Very well written, I even felt for the mummy at the end. Tuxedos were made for men like Mr. Capaldi.
  3. Yes to this. What matters to me is that these two have great chemistry on screen. There is so much fakery in the entertainment business. On set relationships do happen of course and perversely sometimes kill the on screen chemistry. I actually prefer not to know too much about actors who play characters I am really interested in. It's easier for me to buy the illusion that way.
  4. I will miss the show tomorrow. I had gotten used to having Outlander Saturdays.
  5. I found it really cool to learn from the podcast that they were inspired to do those police station scenes by their love for the TV series FOYLE'S WAR. I missed Terry's contribution in this podcast.
  6. I don't know how time travel is supposed to work in this Outlander mythology and what kind of internal logic it follows. The only way time travel makes any kind of sense to me thinking scientifically is by applying Quantum Physics. The concepts of time travel and teleportation kind of give me a headache and freak me out. I think I prefer the "romantic" version of time travel ala SOMEWHERE IN TIME.
  7. I totally agree that Jamie loves the idea of Claire, not the real woman. And he has a big crush on her. She is his first sexual relationship and that also probably heightens everything for him. He just comes across as at least 10 years younger than her. As for Claire's feelings for him - I think she likes him and she is in lust with him. I'll believe she feels something more for Jamie if/when she tells Jamie the truth about being a time traveler and about having a husband in her own time. I am debating too whether I should read the books over this long hiatus. I am conflicted as to whether I should. I am a SOIAF books reader watching the HBO Game of Thrones adaptation and quite frankly it's been a frustrating and teeth gnashing experience watching that show spoiled. I have watched this last episode 4 times over the weekend. I guess that means I am obsessed, ha.
  8. I want to see Laogheire's reaction to Jamie's marriage which ought to be interesting. Also I miss Geillis. If I was Claire I would really miss antibiotics and shampoo. Edited to add that I fell into immediate like with the Hugh Monroe character. When Claire kissed him on the cheek I was like you go girl. It's so interesting to read the thread with all the insightful posts. It really adds to my show viewing pleasure.
  9. I am kind of team Frank again after this episode - the scene were both he and Claire were running towards the stones and could hear each call out was one of the most beautiful, heartrending and evocative in the entire series so far. And that confuses me because I know enough about the mythology of this show that I am supposed to be team Jamie all the way. One thing I really did not like was the rape content in this episode. Using rape in fiction to put a main character in jeopardy always feels cheap, porny and not earned to me. And they did it twice in one episode. Rape is an awful act that I do not want to see enacted on TV or in a movie for the horrified titilation of the viewer. That kind of thing seriously turned me off Game Of Thrones and I don't like it any better here. If they keep pulling these rapey stunts they'll lose me as a viewer.
  10. Hmm. This episode made me feel guilty that I was so into Claire with Jamie at their wedding and wedding night. It is all so awful for Frank - the uncertainty and the not knowing. And quite frankly while Jamie is a hottie and a sweetheart and their sexual chemistry is fantastic they don't have the history she and Frank have, and there are significant things Jamie does not know about Claire. So I don't really see objectively why she should stay with Jamie. Plus, horrible things keep happening to Claire in the past.
  11. Has anybody here read Dorothy Dunnett's LYMOND CHRONICLES? If you can make it through the first book in the series - Dunnett's writing style is the most challenging there - it is a really rewarding reading experience. Great and complex hero and some marvelous female characters, including a wonderful heroine who I am not going to mention by name because - spoiler.
  12. I did a rewatch for purely scientific purposes of the Wedding episode and I noticed Jamie's chest hair. It's kind of sparse and light in color - but definitely there.
  13. Oh yes, I cracked up when I saw her hung over hair o' doom. There was just something about the way her hair looked that set me off into giggles.
  14. Didn't Terry introduce Ron to the books? And that's why we have the show. Something to be grateful for. I actually like it better when they both do the podcast together. It would be nice too if they could get some of the actors to chime in future podcasts.
  15. I think it's very sad to what extent in our culture womens bodies get shamed and criticized. If a beautiful woman and ex-model like Caitriona Balfe gets called out for having "droopy" breasts the average woman must surely despair looking at herself naked in the mirror. The only thoughts I have regarding Balfe's breasts are how courageous of her to expose herself with such honesty in such intimate and raw scenes, and good on her for not mutilating her body with breast implants.
  16. Just back from no Internet exile and then I learn here the show doesn't return until April instead January. Cries the bitter tears of the deprived fangirl.
  17. OMG you guys, my old computer died early Monday and I have been Internet deprived the last three days. Finally I am back online! Virtually hugs everybody. I know pathetic.
  18. We were shown in the first episode that Claire had a very unconventional upbringing, combine that with her stubborn nature and her headstrongness and the fact that she had pretty much been non-stop drinking before her wedding and during the wedding night and you have a woman who may be less err...retiring than the average woman would have been. As to whether Claire should be worried about getting pregnant. They have implied that Claire believes herself to be infertile. It could be of course that Frank is infertile, in the good ol' days women always got the blame when the men were shooting blanks. Now having watched plenty of drama on TV Claire thinking herself infertile will probably mean Jamie will knock her up soon, and probably at the most inconvenient time.
  19. Tina, oh just how pro Frank she is and anti Jamie. The poor guy doesn't deserve that.
  20. I usually really like these recaps - she is a very funny recapper - but I didn't care for this one. I thought her response to the episode was pretty extreme.
  21. I had an interesting moment imagining what this episode would have been like had it been written and directed by the Game Of Thrones writers and directors. I am so grateful that I got to watch sensuality and intimacy instead of the typical cable porn.
  22. I really liked the performance of the actor who played the priest with the bad head cold and his small knife. He didn't have a lot of air time but he was very vivid and funny. I have tried to remain as unspoiled as possible, not seeking out spoilers but of course I couldn't help catch on early that Claire and Jamie are the couple in this show, not Claire and Frank. And tonight, even had I been living under a rock without exposure to any media, I would have have known Claire and Jamie are it. Claire of course remains conflicted - I would think poorly of her if she wasn't at this point - but she is already charmed by Jamie and they have scorching chemistry. And the narrative signs and hints that this is some great love and passion that we are seeing the beginning of. The church wedding with the ancient blood ritual of the mingling of their blood. I got chills when Jamie said that his spirit belongs to Claire.
  23. Well, I am on the good ship Claire/Jamie now. That was so beautiful and intimate. It was also way better than most TV sex I have seen over the years. More chemistry. More intimacy. More everything good. If I was a poet I could express myself better. The only thing bad was that I now really dislike Dougal again.
  24. The outcome of the Scottish vote: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/20/world/europe/scotland-independence-vote-no.html?_r=0 Not as close as they thought it was going to be.
