  1. It was also “guilt free” ice cream, so probably even more boring than a normal vanilla ice cream. I did have to laugh at that mommy exercise group Jinger joined for a day. They all clearly knew it was filming day and behaved accordingly. I hope none of them expected to see Jinger ever again. Jessa’s boys are so dang cute! Spurge is old enough to be potty trained, but I won’t judge too much because boys take forever to potty train fully. Mine was happy to pee in a toilet, but like Spurge, he would go hide behind or beneath a piece of furniture to poop in his pants. After throwing out several pairs of underwear, I bought him some pull ups. He called them diapers though. Also, there is just far too much Jim Bob and Michelle this season . They are obviously back on the TLC payroll.
  2. I think he spouts the same party line as every other conservative Republican: pro guns, pro life, anti-regulation, low business taxes, religious “freedom,” etc. If only he had added an anti-immigration sentence, he’d black out his bingo card of Republican values. I don’t see anything he said to be unappealing to that base. Who cares that he has no experience when he has an NRA membership? Who cares that he has a GED (maybe) when he wants to end abortion? Who cares that he’s a reality tv star when he wants to protect conservative values like being allowed to deny services to a gay couple? I hope he loses, but when I see his video, I’m reminded that around 40% of Americans support his politics. And that makes me more sad than just a random Duggar running for office.
  3. Jack called Jamal’s buff a durag because Jamal is black. Plain and simple. Jamal calmly explained why that’s an issue, and Jack understood. I thought they both handled it beautifully. It’s a perfect example of the kind of stuff people of color experience all the time that white people will often claim is no big deal. I’m a white person so I acknowledge that I don’t get to tell a person of color what is and what is not offensive.
  4. It’s not RuPaul. He never sings live. I think it’s either Billy Porter or Seal, but I’m leaning heavily towards Seal. He’s got a very specific sound. The costuming makes me think Billy Porter, but the voice is Seal. I think Black Widow is Amber Riley, and the dog is Chris Daughtry.
  5. I am an unapologetic Boston Rob fan, and Sandra has always made me laugh. I don’t think they are the absolute best to ever play the game, but they’re pretty darn good. Plus they’re memorable, and they like each other. So if the show wanted to do a mentor season, I get why they chose these two. I can’t think of another pair that would work so well in that role. The best part was seeing Ronnie get voted out though.
  6. I always feel bad for Michaela when there’s another Bates pregnancy announcement. I know infertility is devastating to all, but it’s gotta be even worse as a member of that breeding herd. I also can’t believe how much I want to know what the problem is exactly and whether or not they’ve explored all of their options in terms of fertility treatments. It’s really none of my business, but I want to know. Ha.
  7. I thought this episode was a bit slow in parts, and I noticed some awkward dialogue and weird time jumps. I don’t know, but something felt a little off, and I think episode 2 has been the best of the three shown so far. On the plus side, I laughed out loud when Tori said Jennie made her pee her pants a little. That scene in particular was great as was the one with Brian, Jason, and Ian at the bar. I loved Brian’s side comments throughout. He’s really funny. Tori does seem to be making a real effort to cover her cleavage with wardrobe and accessories, which I think is the right choice because her chest looks even worse with age. Isn’t there a plastic surgeon who can fix that? Still not nearly enough Shannen though, and while I miss Luke too, it didn’t occur to me that he needed a mention in this episode until I read the comments here. But I agree that a mention during that last scene would have been good.
  8. Why is he still so skinny!? I know it’s stupid, but the number one reason he grosses me out so much is his rail thin frame. He also constantly has deep bags under his eyes and just the general appearance of a half starved man and it bugs me far more than it should. I don’t care about their sex lives at all, and I didn’t think all of their marriage tips were that bad (though some were, particularly the ones that indicate a total lack of a trust in a marriage). He’s a homophobic jerk with ridiculous “conservative values” (his words, not mine), so I’m not going to like him regardless, but he’s just too damn thin.
  9. I liked it, but it’s a little hard to watch without Luke Perry. It’s almost too bittersweet. Still, I thought it was funny and enjoyable, and I like how they set up some storylines for the future.
  10. I’m very happy with the outcome. I’ve watched most of the UK seasons of the show (which is far more racy and funny), so yes, I expected Zach and Elizabeth to win. It’s not just because they’re an original couple though. It’s because they seemed the most sincerely in love with each other. I’m a cynic too, but I believe it is entirely possible to find a real connection in 30 days when those 30 days are spent together with no distractions. Rob and Amber from Survivor are a perfect example, but so are plenty of couples from other reality shows like Big Brother. When it’s right, it’s right, and I wish Zac and Elizabeth a very happy future. Based on what Elizabeth told her mother, they will be using their prize money to travel to Europe. I am sure they will have a great time.
  11. Her cameo price is now set at $75 rather than $60. Guess they decided she’s in more demand than they originally thought: https://www.cameo.com/jingervuolo
  12. I really do feel awful for Joy and Austin. They must be absolutely devastated. This was to be their first little girl, and I’m sure they were both thrilled to bits when they found out they were having a little sister for Gideon. Now all those hopes and all that excitement are gone, and they are left to grieve. For once, I’m okay with their faith because it really will give them some comfort during this time. I’m an agnostic, so I would just have to suffer the loss with no assurances that I would be reunited with my daughter in the afterlife. Their genuine belief that they will see their daughter again helps, I think. If you zoom in on the picture with Jill and Michelle, you can see a tear that has fallen down to Joy’s chin. That one tear breaks my heart for them. My only complaint is that others are using their loss and their Instagram posts to promote the a “pro-life” agenda. But that’s not Joy and Austin’s fault. I also saw people telling them that they shouldn’t post these pictures at all and that they are using their dead child to get a payday out of People magazine, comments I found equally offensive. In short, I really don’t get why people feel free to post crap like that on social media. I only post about the Duggars here because I don’t think they actually read my posts, and it’s fun to talk to other about a tv show I’ve been watching for about a decade now. I don’t go on social media and tell them what I think about them as it’s not my place to do so
  13. I don’t know that there is a way to tell whether or not a mother is more or less likely to hemorrhage after birth. Jessa didn’t hemorrhage with Henry, so I’m not sure she had any reason to suspect she would with Ivy. I was told that my hemorrhage after my first was a fluke. In fact, I was told “redheads just tend to bleed more” as an explanation, and yes, I was in a hospital under a doctor’s care. So I may not have assumed I was at greater risk to hemorrhage again, especially if I didn’t with my second. My point is that I get why Jessa wasn’t particularly worried. I also noticed that they did call an ambulance very quickly. In fact, Ivy was still wrapped in towels when they called, so clearly they didn’t wait. I know many will disagree, but I’m just not seeing Jessa’s life in real danger in this situation. She delivered a healthy baby and then was immediately taken to the hospital when her bleeding appeared to be excessive. She also appeared to be just fine in the hospital. She was alert, happy, and smiling. She didn’t look pale or weak at all, so I would suspect her bleeding was quickly under control at the hospital. Now next time, I will judge her if she doesn’t deliver in a hospital under a doctor’s care because she now has a pattern of hemorrhaging after birth, but this time around, I actually don’t think she made that bad of a choice to deliver at home. And I don’t think she almost died as a result of that choice either. My final thought is that I almost teared up when Grandma Duggar walked in because I knew that she died two weeks later and she looked so thrilled to meet Ivy. That really was a sweet moment.
  14. Coloring one’s hair does not make one shallow. Posting a pretty picture on social media so that your hundreds of thousands of followers can tell you how pretty you look does, in my opinion only. Jinger and Jeremy seem highly pretentious to me. That’s all. Perhaps my initial post on the subject was too harshly worded. I apologize if I offended anyone. I certainly wasn’t suggesting that every women who ever did something to improve her appearance is fake or lacks character. I really was just talking about Jinger specifically and what strikes me as another step down a certain path that I personally find to be overly focused on image.
  15. Let me clarify. I didn’t mean dyeing hair blond automatically equals fake as shit. I meant Jinger has been on the image train for a good long while and this blonde hair is another big step in that direction. It’s just a pattern of image conscious behavior that confirms (for me) that she’s no different than her Jeremy. Of course, her version of the “perfect couple show” is different than her parents because she’s young and “modern,” but it’s still the same old show. It’s the “Look at me and my perfect everything” show that grates. In short, Jinger is social media influencer who carefully curates the perfect image to sell her brand. And because her brand is fundie, she bugs me even more.
  16. I saw the new blonde Jinger on Instagram and immediately thought of the blonde prediction post on this board. I hate it because it confirms she is just as full of shit and fake as her man is. I had a soft spot for Jinger and believed her to be a decent human being with terrible religious beliefs. Now she’s confirmed she’s just another fraud who cares far too much about her physical appearance. Jeremy has been a terrible influence on her, but I’m guessing these two bullshit artists recognized the vain hypocrite just beneath the surface when they first fell in love.
  17. I liked it overall. It’s still a cliff notes version of the show, but every character got an ending and there was some good humor in it between Bronn and his brothels and the lords and ladies mocking Sam’s proposal for a democracy. I also liked Bran saying he would find Drogon. That line made me smile. I’m okay with Bran finally having a purpose and Arya sailing west. And I predicted Jon’s ending a month ago. I still don’t like Sansa though so that “Queen of the North!” scene did nothing for me. Finally, while I get that Dany needed to die for burning tens of thousands of innocents, I still feel bad for her, and I teared up when Drogon picked her and carried her away. Like Dany, Drogon is beautiful and terrifying, so that worked for me.
  18. This is some shit. I really thought Dany was going to stop once Cersei’s army surrendered, but nope, she burned the entire city because....why exactly?!? I get that the Targeryans were one screwed up dynasty, so this story wasn’t about returning the last member of that crazy ass family back to the throne. But then the show needed do a much much better job of developing Dany’s descent into full mad queen. Man I’m pissed.
  19. I’m sure Michael is beyond thrilled to be moving back to Tennessee so I say good for her. Plus, since the baby thing doesn’t seem to be working out for her, I’m also happy to see her focusing on a career instead. Again, good for her.
  20. I’ve watched the film and the Oprah follow up twice now. As a fellow victim (not or Jackson of course, but of child sexual abuse), I want everyone I love to see both so they can truly understand what happened to me. Watch the faces of the people in the audience as they listen to the men. They know exactly what these men are talking about; they’ve been there too. And I adore Oprah for really getting at why victims keep the secret for so long even when directly asked on multiple occasions. That was me until I had my first child. And when Oprah mentioned the sons as being the major trigger for these men to speak out, I noticed several people in the audience nod along because they too shared that experience. The one point that really struck me too is that all of it is just magnified so much because of the superstar/celebrity factor. People find accusations hard to believe when they’re made against just some person they know at work, and now we are asking die hard fans who have loved Jackson for decades to believe he did the worst thing imaginable. I think they know the truth too, but it will take them time to admit it. I will never listen to Jackson’s music again. Because of my own history, it’s too triggering. But I also struggle to understand those who can still enjoy his music even though they believe he is a pedophile. I’m trying to be like Oprah and see the idea that Jackson can be a musical genius worthy of our appreciation for his music and a pedophile, but to me, the fact that he abused these children wipes out any good he ever produced in this world entirely.
  21. I noticed a conversation between Kendall and her mother, which made me sad. Her mother was explaining that every pregnancy after Kendra has been very difficult because she had a car accident while pregnant with Kendra. There’s been at least 5 pregnancies since Kendra! The woman appeared to be in serious pain, but I guess God just wants her to keep birthing those babies for Christ.
  22. I don’t quite understand the claim that Robin chose Flagstaff. Yes, Dalton will be attending college there, but isn’t it entirely possible he applied for a college there after they picked it as their new location? Why are some stating that this decision was made solely for the benefit of Robin and Dalton as if that is a known fact rather than merely speculation? I get that Robin is Queen B, or is at least assumed to be, but what actual evidence is there to state unequivocally that Flagstaff was chosen for her son’s benefit. Genuinely asking.
  23. Based on all the confessionals of Dimitri and Michelle talking about each other’s looks every single episode, including this one, and their bs drama over Michelle copying Dimitri a few challenges back, I’d say the editors are setting us up for a Dimitri and Michelle showdown in the finale with arrogant Biddel coming in third or beating them both. As a long time Dimitri fan, I can only hope he beats out Michelle in the end. They both had hideous looks this challenge, but I didn’t hate his blouse.
  24. I like Koracik in every scene he’s in, and the show overall is not that bad if I pretend seasons 1-10 never happened. If I compare this season to any season that included Christina and Derek, I end up hate watching. But as a stand alone season, this one has been decent. Also, Teddy makes me super uncomfortable anytime she’s on screen because the actress who plays her is far far too thin and has been since she first showed up. Looking at her skeleton wrists and hands just worries me too much.
  25. Is it just me or is Jana looking thinner too? In the picture of her and Michelle, Jana is looking rail thin, as sure a sign of courting as Instagram might be. All the girls get stupid thin right before marriage for their wedding pictures, I assume. And Jana looks thinner to me in that picture. I hope she is courting because in her world, she’s the pitiful old maid and thus I feel guilty snarking on her at all.
