I didn’t watch Love and Hip Hop but I always thought the Samuels seemed happy on Housewives. The Bassetts on the other hand were constantly miserable together. However, since the Samuels divorced I must have got it wrong.
Speaking of Candace I bet she hates sharing the spotlight with her son lol.
She probably yells at Chris to change the baby’s privileged, white ass.

Okay, so I'm just going to say that I think this is incredibly mean-spirited and tone deaf. Candiace has been a mom all of 15 seconds, and you are ascribing really horrible thoughts to her based on nothing. It's fine to dislike Candiace, and to say that she showed a less than inviting or nice personality on the show. It's even okay to make assumptions about Candiace's and Chris' relationship based on what was seen on TV. But it's not cool to talk about her behavior/attitudes/aptitude as a mom with absolutely zero evidence.

If we as viewers are to question Candiace's alleged anti-blackness and ability to be a good mom by claiming she hates/is jealous of her baby because the baby is biracial* (and thus has the white privilege she will never have), then we as viewers must also question:

  • Why Gizelle, Robyn, Ashley, Karen and Mia are now wearing blonde hair instead of the naturally dark hair each and every one of them was born with
  • Why Stacey and Ashley have not been raising their children to fully appreciate their Black heritage and ancestry
  • Why Gizelle's brown daughter was wearing makeup foundation 2-3 shades lighter than her complexion (she's stopped now)
  • Why Karen's brown daughter is also wearing a horrible blond wig
  • Why Stacey and Ashley (and Katie) chose White men to marry and procreate with
  • Why Ashley is still dating White men
  • Why Wendy and her mother were bleaching their skin (and Wendy's mother wearing blue contacts) (they've stopped now)
  • Why Monique felt her eye color made her a cut above
  • Why Charrisse, Karen, Monique, Gizelle and Ashley** chose to raise their children in mostly white enclaves
  • Why RHOP production appeared to be trying to ice the 2 darkest complexioned cast members off the show while boosting and protecting the light complexioned cast members

Everyone on this cast past and present can get this smoke. Most of the above questions are none of our business, but if we are to question Candiace's racial feelings and ability as a mother*** then it's also fair to question the other cast members & side characters about their own racial choices as well.

*It doesn't matter what the baby looks like because Candiace will make sure her biracial son has more of an appreciation of his Black ancestry than Stacey or Ashley.

**Arlington is diverse but the side of Arlington Ashley is living in and the condo Michael lives in is not.

***Candiace has also expressed concerned she may be mistaken as the baby's nanny because of their different complexions.  That's a real concern, especially if some Karen decides to call the police on Candiace for kidnapping a white baby.  Ashley probably has never experienced this but I betcha Stacey has.

You are right. Just because she called Gizelle on her privileged, white looking ass doesn’t mean she would say that to her baby. She does have a mean mouth on her though, never seemed too happy with Chris and I can’t see her being happy as a mom.

Oh please with the mistaken for the nanny bullshit. The woman is decked out in head to toe designer goods. Ain’t nobody mistaking her for a damn nanny. In fact, I bet Dorothy is springing for a nanny for her since she likes to pretend she has a career and Chris is lazy as can be.

She enjoyed dissing her costars for being white looking. It was a joke on my part that she might call her son white looking and privileged. Possibly a bad joke but she’s made nasty comments more than once.

An update about Karen Huger's DUI case from a few days ago.

A judge has rejected a request from “Real Housewives of Potomac” star Karen Huger to prevent the use of bodycam footage of her March DUI arrest in addition to statements she gave to police as evidence.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch Weekly, Huger’s motion was denied just eight months after the 61-year-old was involved in a car accident while driving her 2017 Maserati. At the scene, Huger was the only person in the vehicle, striking a median and street sign at the intersection before colliding with a tree. As authorities believed that Huger was under the influence, she was promptly arrested.

“Officers additionally observed the driver of the vehicle, the defendant, unsteady on her feet, swaying, stumbling, and slurring her speech,” prosecutors reportedly said. “Furthermore, the initial caller spoke to officers on scene and indicated that prior to police arrival, the defendant appeared confused and the caller smelled alcohol when interacting with the defendant.”

Huger was charged with driving while intoxicated, recklessly and imprudently operating a vehicle, endangering property, life, and person, and several other offenses. Huger’s husband, Raymond Huger, was said to have arrived at the scene, where Karen Huger alleged that an officer took hold of her arm. She also claimed to have been interrogated and not read her Miranda Rights while authorities denied her the ability to leave.

Huger maintained that any remarks she made to the police should be hidden due to allegedly being the product of unlawful questioning, also insisting that the bodycam footage of her speaking to police and other supporting evidence not be used in court. She also requested a dismissal of the entire case, which the judge disproved.

“The two police separately and persistently asked [Huger] to tell them what happened,” the judge stated after viewing bodycam footage. “They asked her questions like where she had been, where she was coming from and how did the accident take place. [Huger] wasn’t forthcoming with her answers. [Huger’s] husband arrived on the scene soon after the police arrived and was by her side until she was arrested.”

She asked (her attorney) for a dismissal of the whole case in July, and for the dismissal of the witness' testimony (the security guard who called 911) in September. She asked for the body cam footage, and her statements to the police not to be allowed in her trial a few days ago. Her trial was postponed again because of her latest motion.

During a traffic stop and/or investigation, law enforcement routinely ask for name, where are you coming from, where are you going, have you had anything to drink or pills today, and do you have medical conditions. They usually hold the driver by the arm, stating they do it to prevent them falling, or getting back into the car, or reaching for a weapon, or calling for family and friends to rush to the scene, which some drivers do specifically to cause chaos and delays in the officers' process.

Karen's demands are baseless, but of course her attorney has to try to poke at them. When we see the footage, I guarantee you she will have stated one or more of the following, probably on a loop - these are DUI Suspects Hall of Famers:

Why did you stop me?

Don't touch me.

I did nothing wrong.

What is your probable cause?

I have anxiety.

Do you know who I am?

I will sue you.

I'm afraid of cops.

I can't get into the cop car - I have a bad [insert: back, leg, ankle, shoulder, migraine, etc.]

I have to go to work.

Sadly, nothing surprised me, except being reminded that Karen is 61.

I know it's because of plastic surgery but the woman does look youthful.  Heck, most of the time I forget she's older than Gizzy.

She needs to never go behind the wheel again until she gets serious about her problems with drinking.

Karen doesn't drive, or drink, at least not on tv, unlike Shannon Beador of the Orange County HWs who did both on tv three months after her DUI.

  • Why Ashley is still dating White men

I have no issue with Ashley's parenting, and I don't think she needs to lean in on teaching them "black heritage" etc because her mother's family is black, regularly in the boys' lives and these boys LOVE their extended family.

Didn't Ashley say she's biracial but identifies as white? Did I mishear that? All I know is her boys love her, whatever she presents. (Funnily, I've never given Ashley much thought, but I think her present journey isn't worth clutching pearls).

Nor do I see the women (Karen, Ashley etc) choosing "white enclaves" but more in line with choosing expensive postal zones.

No, Ashley said she identifies as black. This was on a recent episode.

I don't know why Ashley would identify as white. The white half of her heritage has been non-existent in her life. Remember when Ashley tried to make contact with her bio dad and was turned away at his doorstep? Yeah, her mother was shitty, but she is close with her black extended family.

Her taste in men, however, is baffling.

Shannon has her own issues but at least she admitted her DUI & said sorry & seemed to know & admit she fucked up. Karen is using every excuse & keeps being vague that something is gonna come out to show her innocence lol.

Shannon's case was resolved before filming started, so she had to admit to the DUI on tv since she was found guilty, and was sentenced already. Karen's case is still ongoing, and she doesn’t know what will happen (she hoped for the case to be dismissed, something we know didn't happen), that's why she is still vague about it. I don't like it because we know the details of what happened. But I thought that Shannon didn't really take responsibility, it was mostly PR advice she was following, and she was drinking and driving on tv which is not good optics. She was drank in at least two instances- in Sonoma (she was also hangover the next day), and at the finale/engagement party.

Jacqueline is pregnant with her third child. No word on the father, although some assume it's PP, the father of her other 2 children.

But if someone is not going to stop drinking, they shouldn't have to pretend on TV they have. At least Shannon isn't completely gaslighting us. ( That seems to be the word of the day.)

I think Karen looks worse because we all assume she has not stopped drinking. And that poor owner/fan who came up to her in the restaurant saying, "Karen has never had a drink here" was just embarrassing, and both she and Gizelle knew it was a setup.

Yes, other than not drinking on camera, I'm not sure what else Shannon could have done, and not drinking would have been performative and insincere. I don't see how driving is not taking accountability, she following what had been set out by the judge.

Karen claimed she wasn't drinking because of an antibiotic at the start of the season, and we don't know if she is choosing not to drive or if she isn't ALLOWED to drive. And again, she is acting like this is something that  happened TO her, which is the opposite of taking accountability.

Oh 💩💩💩!!!! Fox 5 DC local confirmed it! Guilty on 5 out of 6 charges! Did not take the stand in her defense. Sentencing in a few months.

Omg!!!

Piping hot tea (RIP Aunt Dot) it's not showing on Google yet. However, if you watch the "livestream" of the Fox 5 DC news that aired at 10pm, the news report was within the first 15 minutes.

EDIT: the Twitter account @ KennethMoton has the bodycam footage.  Karen is SLOSHED. She should've pled guilty and done the community service. The judge should give her EXTRA time in jail for wasting everyone's time.

That's why she wanted that bodycam footage struck.

Karen might be a friend of the show next year if she's on Season 10 at all.  Paging Robyn Dixon...

EDIT AGAIN: @ MarinaMarraco of Fox5DC has the camera footage of Karen telling the cop "They call me the 'Grande Dame...I don't know what the F that's all about ...Andy Cohen did it."  Karen's wig is slid ALL the way back.  This is NOT good.

EDIT 3: @ MarinaMarraco has footage of Karen at the station telling the cops she didn't give a F and she'll rise up and stay in the jail for a year or two* and she was Thomas Jefferson's concubine. WTF.

*Karen manifested her jail sentence.

I cannot believe she watched that footage of herself and thought, "Oh, yeah. I'll easily win a jury trial." She should be committed for making such a delusional, crazy choice.

And now she wants to appeal, which given what we've seen on those recordings is completely insane. What is she thinking?

Ray needs to take her off this show or go to Florida and leave her behind to her fate.  There is no way she thinks she will appeal and win when:

  • Cop: Ma'am, step away from the car. It's on fire.
  • (in cop car) Do you know who I am? I'm the Grande Dame! (Cop: Huh?)
  • (in cop car) When you Google me, you're going to be so ashamed of yourself.
  • (stumbling out of the cop car) OH God...I'm LIT! (Cop: Yes you ARE lit!)
  • (at police station refusing to listen to cop) I will rise up ...I don't care if I have to go to jail for a year or two...I am Thomas Jefferson's concubine*!

All while her wig is sliding back towards her kitchen. I saw one comment saying Karen's head looked like a papaya. SMH.

I think she said something about poor white people and trying to suggest the cops arrested her because she's Black* and some mumbo jumbo about being on a plantation. Ma'am you were not targeted because you're Black, you were targeted because you crashed into a tree, mowed down a traffic sign and your car caught on fire.

Plus around the same time as Karen's incident, there was an incident where the girl was drunk driving at high speed the wrong way down a Maryland highway and slammed into another car, killing herself and an innocent motorist (and her social media was filled with posts bragging about drunk driving)...so when the Karen news came out people in the area were not sympathetic to Karen's drunk driving. (county adjacent to Karen's county)

*(but CANDIACE was the one with racial issues and insecurities, right?)

EDIT: Karen's story was that she was with a friend and got emotional and was drinking. We still don't know who the friend she was supposedly with is. The cousin she was on the phone with testified to show her state of mind but not this "friend." Why not?  Was she drinking alone or was this friend her affair partner?

Appeal? The gall! The hubris! A person's own pride and ego is their ultimate downfall.

The body cam footage is particularly disturbing because she was far far worse than I assumed she was. Thank God she didn't hurt anyone. But I don't see how she doesn't do time for this, especially since this is her third (?) DUI offense.

She was not shown driving, but what would she do after the breathalyzer was used? Her lawyer pushed for the breathalyzer in her car during the negotiations with the DA's office so she could drive. And at least in one case in the beginning of the season she said she drove to a restaurant where she met the other women. I don't remember if she was shown arriving. I would have to rewatch. She would drive her car after dinner, and she was shown ordering Belvedere vodka and soda.

Shannon's apology was filmed about a week before the OC HW S18 started filming officially. It was very obviously PR advised, rehearsed, and filmed for this reason. Shannon was filmed drunk at least twice, and shown asking an assistant to add alcohol to her soda during a Tres Amigas event after the crash (she was pretending she didn't drink at all back then, she, and her friends even gave interviews about it), that's why I don't think her apology was honest.

Karen wanted to say as little as possible, and not admit to anything because her case was still in the courts. Shannon was already convicted and sentenced two months before filming for the OC WHs started. I don't like Karen's attitude toward the DUI, but I understand the reasoning behind it. I would like to see what Karen has to say after her trial.

Karen shouldn't have said anything, as it was a pending case. That means Karen shouldn't have said ANYTHING, especially nothing about being vindicated, being run off the road, being emotional, grief over her mother etc. Karen was trying to manage our impressions (just like Monique was trying to manage our impressions after she tried to rip Candiace's wig off her scalp) and as with Monique and the Sesame Street fight, when the actual camera footage is revealed, it just doesn't make the people trying to manage the impression look good.

Honestly, I think the "You are poor and white" comment to the cop might hurt Karen with BRAVO and the fans just as much as the actual DUI.

Quote

Overall, polite to the police though.

She actually wasn't. She told them (and the EMTs) to F off, accused them of coming for her because she's Black and told the one guy he was poor and white.

If she had been drinking, the blow and go would have reported it to the proper authorities. If she had a drink, waited the proper amount of time before getting in the car, then it's not "drinking and driving".

I just watched Karen's videos. She was drunkity drunk drunk drunk. Overall, polite to the police though.

Oof.

Saw 30 minutes of Karen’s bodycam and….

La Grande Dame, you’ve been my favorite on this show since day one and I’ve always been on your side but honey, YOU…ARE…AN…ALCOHOLIC!!  She could have really hurt someone and watching her slurring and swaying with her weave pushed damned near at the tips of her ears was embarrassing.  How Ray, Ravyn, Brandon, family and other friends have not staged an intervention on her behalf is baffling.

She should get a lifetime ban from driving; she should have an on-call driver anyway.

Man will she get roasted during the reunion show!

That's the thing.  Why the Hell do these rich women insist on driving?

There was an episode of Intervention in which a rich lady just sat in her mansion and drank all day. She had to go 500 miles for a family event, and she actually hired a chauffeur-driven limousine to take her there. It cost ten times as much as an Uber, but at least she did not endanger anyone else's life by driving.

I'm not disagreeing about Shannon's car breathalyzer. Gina from the OC WHs, who was convicted of a DUI stopped driving and took Ubers. It's a matter of optics. Shannon could probably skip filming this season, especially so soon after her DUI. She was still highly emotional (she would be even without Alexis Bellino joining the show), and she appeared drunk on at least two occasions.

I didn't watch the longer versions of videos, but the short ones are bad. I agree that's why Karen wanted them to be excluded, as well as the testimony of the cops, and the person who called 911. We didn't know her car caught fire, and we saw the empty beer bottles on the car floor in the photos posted above (I read about those before). She used the f word, she also asked the dreaded "do you know who I am"....

Bravo might not ask her back- she might get a prison sentence like Jen Shah from the Salt Lake City HWs, and the Giudices from the NJ HWs anyway. I highly suspect she won't attend the reunion.

ETA: Karen used all these excuses during filming because she hoped some evidence would get excluded, and the outcome would be different. I hope her first public announcement (if there is one) after the verdict won't include similar excuses.

No mention of Ray warning the police officer that Karen's purse had vomit in it when they were asking for her license?

How does someone's wig slide that far back? I mean performers with wigs go through incredible physical stuff and must be sweating like hell and their hair remains in place. Karen appears to be as bald as a billiard ball.

There is absolutely no comparison with Shannon or Gina. They listened to their attorney's advice - pled guilty - did their rehab for sobriety and public service and refrained from driving. Shannon opted for the breathalyzer to keep her license - my understanding is that is a fairly cumbersome thing as you need to literally pull off and test even if you are on the freeway - it is not just when you start the car. Yes Shannon is in a bit of denial regarding her relationship to alcohol but at least she realized that pleading and accepting responsibility was the only rational course of action.

While Johnny J and Jesus Jugs held the threat of "footage" over her she didn't have to deal with 30 minutes of the Karen footage. I fast forwarded a bit but the woman was beyond drunk - she was lapsing into incoherence and I don't understand where she was and how anyone let her leave in that condition. She wasn't fit to walk down the street let alone drive.

Her lawyer has to be an incompetent to have allowed her to go to trial. By wasting the time and money of the judicial system she is almost certainly going to get prison time - even if it is only for a relatively short period of time like 30 days. They have to do that because otherwise there is no incentive to not go to trial if your punishment will be the same. It is the basis of all plea bargains up to the most serious where you agree to life without parole in exchange for taking the death penalty off the table.

Maybe a bad look, but drinking too much and driving drunk are totally different things.

For example, I had too much to drink tonight because I’m dealing with family and my dad being in healthcare. I am in no position to drive or do anything.

Not the first time I’ve posted on the forums under the influence- … probably won’t be the last
