It's not just that the other women on this cast have zero body fat; It's that Kathryn legit looks lumpy now

From "Scientific American."

Many Psychiatric Drugs Have Serious Effects on Body WeightPatients are not always warned about the weighty impact of antipsychotics, antidepressants and stimulants.

In the medical community, antipsychotics are well known to cause significant weight gain. Gains of 20 to 35 pounds or more over the course of a year or two are not unusual.

Re Cameran's husband.  It's not in his best interests professionally to appear on ANY reality show.  For the same reason, Naomie's new boyfriend should also stay away...far, far away.  These men have actual professions--jobs that help humans.  They don't need showbiz-stroking.

The one part I like about Shep harping on Craig is that the more he does it the less effective it is and the less it gets him.

Sometimes I do love the law of diminishing returns.

I heard someone say on the first episode no more beer business.  I can’t stand Austen for some reason either.  Chelsea brings nothing .. Danni also.  I see Landon isn’t back .. good. Lol.  I’m terrible, but it is what it is.  The original cast was the best.  Thomas was a big part with Katherine.  I hope Naomi goes,  Chelsea and Austin.  Guess J.D. & Liz are not coming back.

Agreed so much: this episode definitely had a huge sense of emptiness without T-Rav’s usual good ol’ boy goofiness and drawled talking heads tossed in. It just feels like something was totally missing and kinda off with this episode’s overall vibe, like it felt a bit tedious almost; every single season has always centered mostly around Thomas and his story in some way and I don’t think Kathryn alone can fill that great void. Damned shame, because I feel like the lack of Thomas’s usual shenanigans is going to completely kill the vibe and momentum of this once awesome show.

For sure Thomas is a horrible person who doesn’t need to be regularly celebrated on a television show, but that dude is indeed reality gold. I can’t help but miss him and his unintentionally hilarious comments/antics.

I just realized that “Southern Charm” without Thomas is starting to feel like what I’d imagine “Shahs of Sunset” would be without Reza: it just doesn’t seem to work.

I agree that Kathryn can be very beautiful, but, I no longer see it.  It's like her face has changed.  Is it natural, fillers, fluid?  IDK.  She just looks different and not in a good way to me.  She has looked very beautiful to me with NO makeup AND, equally as beautiful with heavy makeup.  But, having said all that, I do not care for her at all and she's one of my least favorite cast members.

When Kathryn first came on, I thought she was pretty but in a young sorority girl kinda way. But at the end of that first season, when I saw her in that green dress that Thomas bought her, I realized how gorgeous she is. But this also sorta shows that Kathryn has always struggled with styling.

Styling is especially hard when your body is changing a lot, which Kathryn is experiencing with her pregnancies and likely her psychiatric meds (thanks for bringing that up, @HaaCHOO). The effects of psychiatric meds can be really hard to combat, even with diet and exercise interventions, for some people. If the meds help her stay stable and sober, then that’s much better than being skinny. She’s a pretty girl no matter what, she just needs to learn to dress for the body she has now.

I was gobsmacked that she didn’t use a coaster and put her martini on a book. I’m no Miss Manners, but that would be a firm no from me. Coasters are for everyone.

Exactly! And you said it perfectly...she’s an extra. An extra in way too many scenes with too much camera time.

She’s very similar to Whitney, although at least his scenes are limited. He shows up to a few parties and mutters a couple sentences — which is all Cameran should be doing if she’s going to be boring and hide her husband.

Cameron is like the therapist to everyone.  Plus, she goes around and tells the guys what’s wrong with them, like “you drink too much”, you look like a slob”, “get a job”, etc. etc.

I thought that Cameron was exceptionally beautiful in that light blue blouse.  Something about her coloring with light blue just looks awesome.  I'm no longer a big fan of hers, but, she does normally get it right fashion wise.

The show.

She doesn't.  The silver tray is how the perfectly crafted martini is delivered.  If it is not consumed, said martini rests on a hand cut lead crystal coaster.  This woman has educated us about martini culture - remember the ice crushing bag?

So according to my social media sleuthing, Austen just got licensed to officially sell his Trop Hop beer in the area. A few months ago he also had purchased a huge multi-passenger bus to drive tourists around on for a local beer tour.

Running a mobile beer tour is a good idea for him in theory and I hope he can actually make a go of that, because Charleston does have a really interesting brewery scene spread all around the city. Makes a lot more sense than simply banking on checks from this show in between peddling his beers around to other markets; he knows the area and the beer scene, would probably get fans of the show on his tour, and could even heavily sell/promote some of his beer during his tours. Hopefully he has enough effort to actually get out there and promote and push such tours; wisely enough, Cooper is doing his own SC-themed walking tour that he seems to really enjoy promoting so far.

Damn .. I forgot how great the first season was.  T-Rav & Katherine with the pregnancy drama, Danni, who Thomas tried to date but she wasn’t into him, and that Bloviator asshole J.D. and his pompous ass talking like a big shot know it all.  Good times.

I've seen a Philly Brew Tour out and about usually when I'm working and I then become livid with jealousy and rage before I trudge on my non-profit, social service rounds.

But it looks nice.....

When it comes to aspirations of pickled livers like the Southern Charmers, one might do worse than have a martini butler deliver the perfectly crafted drink to you on a silver tray, while you semi-recline in your comfy caftan, and he looks after the business end of your rescue doggies.

You all .. Season 1, Episode 1 on now in northeast.  The beginning when Thomas meets Katherine.  On all day, and I am binging.  Love this show!

I watched a couple episodes of Season 1 on demand last night.   Thomas was/is absolutely repulsive.

Fortunately, there has been much less social posturing as the series has progressed.  Anytime a character on of these Bravo shows starts banging on about how important he/she or their family is to whatever city, I snort so hard that my sinuses hurt.

Craig re Cameran:  "Who lets someone's dog out?"

Me to Craig:  "Who doesn't control their excitable, prone-to-running-out dog when a person the dog doesn't know comes to the front door?"

Ha! I said exactly these two statements out loud when watching it...both to a T! She didn't even try to block the dog when Craig told her not to let the dog out, as if she didn't give a shit if he got out. But then on the other hand, it's his responsibility, if he knows the dog is a runner, he should hold him back before he opens the door. Not rocket science!

I hope Craig proves me wrong, but I have a feeling eventually we will hear a vague story about how Craig had to give Bethany away - it will probably have something to do with his pillow output. Like, now that he’s up to 11 pillows per week, no time to walk a dog. Bethany looks like an active dog who needs attention and activity. I don’t have faith in Craig giving attention and bothering with anything that doesn’t revolve around his dedication to procrastination and slack. I really hope I am wrong and that he’s a super dog owner. But, the fact that he can’t hold his dog back while he answers the door - and his subsequent blaming of Cam - doesn’t bode well.

Also, Naomi gives Gizmo commands as if he’s going to listen. Gizmo literally never listens because he is not a golden retriever and doesn’t care about pleasing anyone, lol. I know she is giving the people what we want when she brings Gizmo to a scene, but stop telling him what to do, heh.

I can’t believe Michael didn’t find some other tray on which to serve that drink! I drink beer out of bottles so I obviously have no class, but I know what class looks like, lol. On the book pile? Not even structurally sound!

I was watching “Murder on the Orient Express” and they served Hercuole Poroit an after dinner mint colored cordial on a silver tray too.  (I probably spelled his name wrong).  Stupido.

By the time Craig wakes up at 12 or 1 pm, the dog will have probably did his duty on the floor, poor thing.  I can’t stand the thought of that dog with Craig as he is lazy.

Something was up with that scene.  Michael knows she needs that medicine, so should have served the drink on another tray.  What, he couldn’t polish that one tray before she asked?  She didn’t like that.  Something’s up.

I agree that she looks beautiful there with the hair and dress, but she keeps changing hair colors, and now has a new face to boot.  It ain’t pretty either, IMO.  Too much work done for one so young.  Her face was different on WWHL recently.

He seemed flustered and she had a short flash of rage, heh. That was a Craig excuse, Michael! Keep an emergency tray in a lockbox!

This show started as a fun glimpse into Charleston "society," or some pretense to it.  It has turned into low-rent Charleston from the other side of the tracks.  That's fine, but it's not the show it used to be, and far less entertaining.  I honestly don't care about any of these people.

I think it is what it has always been. I mean the first season had Jenna a kept woman/escort who was also lying about most things about her life.

Yes, it’s not that the characters are so different — we still have some of the original or early-seasons crew — but the situations are less Southern “high society” charming, even if a lot of that was fake and only done for the show, like “Carolina Day”. As some have said, this is becoming more like Vanderpump Rules, a crap-fest I sampled once and ruled out forever, so I don’t like SC going in that direction.

Finally got caught up with my recordings...

Kathryn’s dress at the dinner party, I swear, my grandmother had that same print fabric for curtains in her bedroom. The seating was awkward, and producer-driven. Putting Kathryn and the new girl directly across from each other.
