"The View": Week of 1/7/19

This is a pretty decent week. I'm surprised. I don't think everyone will be at the table during Malala's interview and for Kamala, I suspect that Meghan is getting ready for her gotcha question while Abby asks about whether Kamala will run in 2020. If Jamie is cooking something, then I bet Whoopi will be munching on everything while the audience laughs and Jamie rushes to finish whatever he's making.

I hate when this happens. They get someone I'm interested in hearing (Kamala Harris), but I won't watch the clusterfuck that The View is.

I assume Harris is testing the Presidental-run waters and will be making the rounds. I'll catch her on Face the Nation, Meet the Press, Colbert instead.

Malala deserves better than The View.

I had no clue that the Golden Globes happened last night. When I was a kid, I enjoyed award shows, but they're kind of boring now. At least they've been boring for a long time now.

I'm glad Spider-Man won, because a lot of animated films, like the Lego movies and Captain Underpants, keep getting snubbed for reasons unknown.

I missed the first 17 minutes or so, because here, the local news broke in to cover a Kevin Spacey pre-trial hearing (he allegedly groped a bus boy who is the son of a local news anchor).

I came in when Whoopi was saying, "In one of the big hits of the year..." and Abby broke in to say, "Crazy Rich Asians." Whoopi then continued with, "I think they need to find one other person and that shoud be fine, 'cause listen we all have stuff in our acts that have backfired..."

I assume this was about Kevin Hart and the Oscars. What did they talk about at the top of the show? I want to know if it's worth catching up with tomorrow on-Demand.

Okay, Meghan referenced the wrong movie starring Kevin Hart on Friday that she considers problematic and instead of apologizing, just pointed out that she was the one who did it. How hard is it to say "I apologize for that mistake"?

Shut up Megan! you know nothing about the Democratic party.

Can you somebody explain why Whoopie was blasting Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez?  I am really tired of people trashing the young lady.  Megan doing it is expected, she is a blind follower of her team with no independent  thought of her own, but, I expect better from Whoopie, Joy and Sunny to not be so quick to believe whatever nonsensical defamatory story that Megan's team peddles about AOC.

What is Whoopi talking about?

I thought Meghan was fine when she was talking today during the Elizabeth Warren segment. She stated her point clearly, didn't look at her notes and it felt like she was having a genuine discussion with the others. More of this kind of Meghan please.

But Whoopi going on a rant about AOC was too much. Ms Cortez just started and is getting attacked by both sides. Let her breathe a bit and do her job before ganging up on her.

Of the shit for which I wish McCain were truly sorry, this is so far down the list.

Yeah, it is, but I guess that's just my dislike for her coming out because she is never made to apologize for anything.

So basically I'm admitting my bias against her, lol.

During the first commercial break I started a load of laundry, blow dried my hair, took a bag of trash to the curb, and vacuumed the family room rug. During the second break I cleaned a bathroom and filled the bird feeder. Why are breaks longer than show segments?

i have no interest in the Golden Globes or the Bachelor.

She seemed to be saying that Ocasio-Cortez (from here on out, when I remember, I'm going with her new internet abbreviation, "AOC," because it's easier) that Cortez has said the Democratic establishment has done nothing. So she was trying to "school" her on some of the party's stars like John Lewis and Dianne Feinstein.

The thing is, has AOC ever said that? It's one thing to say, "I don't think the DNC is going far enough."

I think Whoopi is almost as frightened of the word "Socialist" in AOC et al's "Democratic Socialist" as Meghan. She can't hear what these people are about, because of the scary, scary "S" word. Joy keeps trying to differentiate between socialism and Democratic Socialism, but she never seems fully prepared, nor does she get the chance. Sometimes, I wish Joy were more of a blowhard.

I hope RBM is left out of the Malala interview. Malala's been through a lot and doesn't deserve to be subjected to any of RBM's idiotic crap she likes to pull.

I think Meghan will love her.

Not that Malala isn't great, but whenever a Muslim woman speaks out against Muslim men or their culture, then they're always seen as a beacon of everything holy for the right. A regular Muslim woman is nothing and needs to go back home, but one who says anything negative about the religion or what non Muslims think is part of the religion, then they get praised.

That's why I think Meghan will love her.

Edit: this isn't a dig at Malala. What she went through is horrific and I'm glad she's doing well and making a difference. But as a Muslim female, it's something I've noticed when it comes to promoting Muslim women. There's a certain way we have to look or be presented. I'm glad Malala mentioned that people assume that men from these communities are horrible, but there are a lot of great men out there.

I still can't get over Meghan's crush on Paul Ryan.

Nothing about him nor his looks are attractive in the least. YUCK!

He is so ineffectual and weak. Slinking away instead of fighting for his constituents or Americans in general. No integrity.

That was a nice interview with Malala. Thank goodness everyone was respectful.

What, you don't go for that Boys From Brazil* look?

As a gay Male I would have to say it's his body. Neck up, not so much.

Ah see, I don't think so. I think she loves him, because he cares more about money than about people.

Yes. I'd have to say his weakness as a leader and failure to fight for his his constituents or Americans in general, as you stated, make him more unattractive than his looks. Zero backbone.

I also agree that everyone was respectful during the interview with Malala, thank goodness. Nice interview.

I'm both loathing and looking forward to Kamala Harris tomorrow because I'm sure Meggie will find a way to ruin it.

Whoopie ruins just as many segments/topics.

They should put muzzles on both of them. I can't count how many times Whoopie has hijacked interesting topics with her incoherent and tangential ramblings... never to come back to the good points being made by others again.

MM is just a nasty piece of work. Nuff said.

The beer thing with  Warren fell flat for me. I see Joy's point though.  NOt sure everyone will "get it."

I don't understand why that was a hot topic to begin with. Okay, she wanted a beer. And?

That's why Friday's are so enjoyable - we don't have to worry about Whoopi butting in with some nonsense or cutting to commercial break when things heat up.

Whoopi was a little hard on AOC.

I agreed with Whoopi, despite how hateful and ridiculous McCain clapping along with Whoopi was. Meghan just enjoyed someone criticizing AOC for any reason possible. Just like with the video they talked about last week--any reason to slam her some way somehow. I don't even like AOC's politics, but you know how sometimes people say someone looks "indecent" or "obscene" in their excitement over something bad happening to someone else? That's McCain to a T. She's the preppy mean girl laughing at Carrie getting the bucket of blood dumped on her head.

Whoopie like some Americans are ignorant about the difference between socialism and Democratic socialism.  I love the fact that Joy always makes it a point to differentiate between the two  and to remind us that we already have democratic socialism in our country.

I agreed with Whoopie on the AOC thing.  I think her point was that you can’t alienate everyone and still be successful.  AOC is going to need the support of some of the people she’s criticizing in order to accomplish anything in Congress.  Nancy Pelosi being one.  Or, I could be completely wrong in my interpretation of what she was trying to say.

Ryan was Bitsy's heart throb, too.   Beats Mitch McConnell, I guess.

For once I agree with The Whoopster, but her approach was all sass-ackwards.  It took her a while to make her point, but she was right about AOC not showing respect for the people that have been working hard to improve a lot of lives.

Unless AOC said something truly offensive, this "schooling" was way over the top.  The way Whoopi's lip curled with bizarre anger and Meghan clapped and giggled, I thought I was watching Fox News.

Loved Joy's snapback at McCain being a bitch as per usual.

If you're referring to Meghan's crack that Joy keeps those 3 million votes under her pillow, I agree.  But, I was pleasantly shocked how well Meghan took Joy's clap back about Paul Ryan.
