OMG, the first episode with Mitch and his wife is one of my all-time favorite episodes of this show. Bradley Whitford is so very funny as an unrepentant drunk and he and Allison Janey's history of being on the West Wing together just gives it such an additional oomph for me.  I was looking forward to seeing the character again.  I loved this episode too, although not as much as the first, and especially the fact that Adam is reading women's magazines for sex tips.  GREAT!

The one character that really bugs me on this show is Christy, which is too bad since she is the main character, but I have so little sympathy for her temper tantrums.

Otherwise, great cast, great show!

I love Bradley Whitford, and if possible, I love him as Mitch even more.  Playing drunk is never easy, but BW has it down pat.  I loved this episode, as usual it wasn't really about Mitch and his wife, it was about the ladies' reaction to their active alcoholism.  Like it or not, Bonnie has been getting better, she was repulsed and sympathetic simultaneously.  Christy, who has not been getting better, was wistful and envious of the people in the throes of their active addiction, that is not a good sign.

i love this show and tonight was unwatchable.

I didn't laugh once. I had no idea that was Bradley Whitford. One drunk is bad enough but that wife... I wanted to knock her ass out. The most annoying drunk ever. She was so adodrable as Arthur's dogwalking friend on King of Queens! Aside from all that, the storyline sucked.

OMG I thought this episode was HILARIOUS! Every word out of Bradley Whitford's mouth was gold. Actually everyone was firing on all cylinders.

I confess I don't understand the naysayers - this show gets better every season. The cast is solid as a rock and they do a great job of integrating new characters.

What's happening to my show????

there hasn't been a decent episode this season.

Every episode (it seems) has been Bonnie-centric. Every single one. Christy's barely there. The AA Ladies are barely there. Most of the A-plots are Bonnie-Adam centric.

Last night was a total waste of time. I want more Christie. How is law school going? Still working at the restaurant? What about the paid internship? How's that going? Why don't we give Jill a boyfriend? Some normal schlub that loves her dirty socks. She's all weirded out to be so gone over a commoner, something like that...

Lately, this show has been super-slow and super boring. SOOOOO many commercials. One scene...commercial...another scene...commercial...ugh...what's happening here? Writers run out of ideas? New writers? What's going on? I'm not liking this season at all.

They showed Christy at work a few episodes ago and they've shown her at school several times this season. Christy is heavily featured in every episode!

I DVR everything so commercials are a non-issue.

ETA: Christy didn't get the internship because she was offered a paid position instead, which I imagine will start when she graduates.

I noticed a couple episodes ago that Christy didn't seem to be with the other women all that much this season.   I actually started thinking that must be by design.

I absolutely hated the first time Mitch and wife were on and it was worse this time !😩

I didn't mind the previous episode with these characters but I didn't think it merited a second episode with them. It feels more like a stunt to keep bringing Bradley Whitford back. I actually love Nicole Sullivan but again, this was unnecessary.

You gotta figure the network or whoever's in charge sees Allison Janney as the main draw because of her Emmys and her Oscar. I do like her but I agree she seems to be eating the show. I'd prefer more stories about the other characters - they've lost the balance.

I did laugh when Bradley Whitford and Nicole Sullivan were making out on the bar at the end of episode. Was it just me or was Bradley being drunk sounded like a mix between Barney from The Simpsons and Bobcat Goldtwhait ?

I never saw the actor's first appearance. When they showed the "previously" clip, I thought it was Bobcat.

She's Fonzie. Started out as a secondary character and took over the limelight.

Just watched the episode. I don’t think it was as bad as some are making it out. The cast still work really well together despite the decline of the writing. Which Isint dramatic. But I think it needs less Bonnie centric episodes. And a bit more variety. It’s clear the part of Christie’s character. Of her being a mother is over. The focus is now the recovery group. But I would like to see more variety in storylines. I diddnt mind Mitch. But the wife was annoying.

Don't want to compare characters. But bit like Jim Parsons in TBBT. Where Sheldon now takes up alot of room. Bonnie has the same sense. I also liked the show alot better when I had sympathy for the Christie character. I Adore Anna Faris. Only time I Felt like that, was the Violet episode. Stripping those components away has made the show less interesting. Still one of the best sitcoms currently on TV. I just think the show needs to be revitalized a bit.

He lives full-time with his father and stepmother, and Christy presumably sees him on the weekends, or whenever, lol.

I thought something like that had happened. It's just always so jarring when they do it in shows. .... Had a kid, but we decided to go another way, let's act like they don't exist. Even her daughter has had an episode this year. They could have referenced the son then, when she was talking about the damage she's done.
