LOL, that ending segment. This show. Just...this show :D.

The bit about clips that hadn't aged well was the definition of "cringeworthy", oh, my god (how the hell did Weinstein even get an opportunity to fill in and host a show in the first place?).

And the authoritarianism segment. Yep. Pretty much summed up all the concerns about this year, and is just further proof why Trump desperately needs to leave, like, yesterday. That clip of him talking about killing journalists was utterly horrifying. I don't care that he was joking (or "joking"). Hillary got knocked all over the place for daring to call a segment of his supporters "deplorables", yet he can say shit like that and quote Mussolini and get away with it. Amazing. I was also struck by all the people cheering Trump when he was talking about wanting to "bomb the shit out of" people and praising the concept of torture. These are the same people who would turn around and claim they couldn't vote for Hillary because she was a warmonger. Okay. Here's to hoping that there's a worldwide sort of rejection of/backlash towards this type of insanity coming, and all these creeps mentioned in this episode can be out of office as soon as humanly possible.

(Also, regarding other types of political chaos...I really feel for those of you who have to deal with the fallout of this Brexit crap. Good lord, what a mess.)

Looking forward to February.

Well that was a hell of a way to end the season. Enjoy your time off John. I’m sure nothing horrible, crazy or horribly crazy will happen while you’re off.

“The Wax and the Furious” was amazing.  Armie Hammer and Russel Crow deserve oodles of kudos as does the production team behind the movie.  But the true stars had to be Team Wax Presidents, although I think the Clinton head looked way more like John Travolta than Slick Willy.

I do note that it was no Salmon Cannon, but then, what is?

I still can't get over Trump forgetting the name of the place he'd just visited, which has been on the news 24/7, TWICE; calling it "Pleasure" instead of Paradise.  Dickswab.

I had not seen that clip before. GAWD! He doesn't care or pay attention or feel empathy. And poor Jerry Brown, trying to ignore the ignoramus standing next to him.

That really was. I'm still shaking my head.

Okay, my favorite, FAVORITE bit of the fake movie was wax-WGH getting a "Nan" tattoo. That's hardcore, my friends.

I didn't catch that! Thanks for spotting it. HA!

It was nice of John to end the show on a funny note. We needed that.

I don't know if the Trumpian masses are ever going to wake up to what they've elected. It's depressing and scary.

At least there was a glimmer of hope with the Democratic Party taking the House. I could have sworn John would have been over Melania's role as First Lady, but I guess that would have been too much given the topic on authoritarianism. Probably next season?

“Willie Pneumonia” for the win.

Another crap year brought to you by the Englishman that looks like Steve Mneuchin, that awesome sex god. We learned about things within and beyond our borders, and John got to use HBO money for crazy shit, and all just to call attention to current issues. Also, the koala chlamydia ward.

I’m really hoping David Kaye isn’t leaving. The “And Now, This” segments provide a breather from the hardcore shit John shovels, and they’re funny on their own to boot.

It really would not surprise me if, going forward, any towns that are affected by some kind of natural disaster (or mass shooting, or other tragedies of that sort), started declining visits from Trump altogether and were like, "Yeah, no, we'll take care of it ourselves instead." Just...unbelievable.

YES. That should've been our first hint about him right there.

I usually get a kick out of their "movie" clips but I thought this one went on a little too long. I appreciated the Russell Crowe cameo at the end but I guess part of my problem is that I have no idea who Armie Hammer is so the whole thing fell kind of flat for me. I can't believe the budget this show must have to get a helicopter just for this kind of sketch.

But huge points to Brown for having the world's quietest panic attack, "What did he just say?  Oh shit, he said it again.  He's fucking up the name of the town that has a thousand people missing and if we don't correct him, he'll say it over and over again because it has a slight sexual connotation" and everyone present reached their breaking point at two times because three is really when you'd have to start having him evaluated for a stroke.

The look of Brown's face said it all. The best wtf look ever.

Anyone else just a touch disappointed that when John announced that Russell Crowe's jock strap had been found, he didn't stand up to reveal that he was wearing it, like he did with them big-arsed jeans the other week?

Anyway, good ending to the series. Glad that youtube let me watch the Brexit bit, although Gilbert Gottfried reading bigfoot porn was amazing.

Sidebar: On Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill has run through a dictator's checklist on Trump a couple of times, and it lines up pretty much with what John laid out in this episode.
