BkWurm1 May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 (edited) 1 hour ago, wonderwall said: Do you guys think this is accurate for all the characters? Not feeling it for Laurel. Here's the list of strengths and weaknesses for an ENFJ Tolerant – ENFJs are true team players, and they recognize that that means listening to other peoples’ opinions, even when they contradict their own. They admit they don’t have all the answers, and are often receptive to dissent, so long as it remains constructive. Reliable – The one thing that galls ENFJs the most is the idea of letting down a person or cause they believe in. If it’s possible, ENFJs can always be counted on to see it through. Charismatic – Charm and popularity are qualities ENFJs have in spades. They instinctively know how to capture an audience, and pick up on mood and motivation in ways that allow them to communicate with reason, emotion, passion, restraint – whatever the situation calls for. Talented imitators, ENFJs are able to shift their tone and manner to reflect the needs of the audience, while still maintaining their own voice. Altruistic – Uniting these qualities is ENFJs’ unyielding desire to do good in and for their communities, be it in their own home or the global stage. Warm and selfless, ENFJs genuinely believe that if they can just bring people together, they can do a world of good. Natural Leaders – More than seeking authority themselves, ENFJs often end up in leadership roles at the request of others, cheered on by the many admirers of their strong personality and positive vision. Overly Idealistic – People with the ENFJ personality type can be caught off guard as they find that, through circumstance or nature, or simple misunderstanding, people fight against them and defy the principles they’ve adopted, however well-intentioned they may be. They are more likely to feel pity for this opposition than anger, and can earn a reputation of naïveté. Too Selfless – ENFJs can bury themselves in their hopeful promises, feeling others’ problems as their own and striving hard to meet their word. If they aren’t careful, they can spread themselves too thin, and be left unable to help anyone. Too Sensitive – While receptive to criticism, seeing it as a tool for leading a better team, it’s easy for ENFJs to take it a little too much to heart. Their sensitivity to others means that ENFJs sometimes feel problems that aren’t their own and try to fix things they can’t fix, worrying if they are doing enough. Fluctuating Self-Esteem – ENFJs define their self-esteem by whether they are able to live up to their ideals, and sometimes ask for criticism more out of insecurity than out of confidence, always wondering what they could do better. If they fail to meet a goal or to help someone they said they’d help, their self-confidence will undoubtedly plummet. Struggle to Make Tough Decisions – If caught between a rock and a hard place, ENFJs can be stricken with paralysis, imagining all the consequences of their actions, especially if those consequences are humanitarian. statsgirl May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 (edited) 1 hour ago, wonderwall said: Do you guys think this is accurate for all the characters? That depends on what you mean by "accurate". The Meyers-Briggs test is one of my favourite tests, especially for people trying to understand who they are. And it's awesome for marriage counselling because you can learn a lot about what's wrong in a relationship by understanding how the participants are functioning and where they're not. The great thing about it is that it gives you insights that you wouldn't imagine without it. The girl everyone in class votes is the most extroverted turns out to really be an introvert because she's covering her shyness (I saw this in real life); the person who appears to be Judging is actually Perceiving. I know one couple who matched on three of the four dimensions but their problems were based in the fact that he was Thinking and she was Feeling and they handled problems differently (there were some pretty big fights). That's the beauty of the test. I think everyone should try them test themselves, just for fun. And then go back and look up what it tells you. But it doesn't work doing it backwards unless you do it as a game. The whole reason for the test is because you find out what you didn't expect to find, not that you think you know a person and you put them in the pigeonhole. If you're not feeling it for Laurel, it's probably because if she were a real person, she wouldn't be an ENFJ. [/real life intrusion... please continue with the fun] ETA: Do you really think Felicity is an extrovert? I know she babbles a lot but she's embarrassed by it, especially amongst strangers. An extrovert would just laugh it off. That embarrassment plus her reluctance to put herself forward and thinking she's not special enough to have Oliver care for her says introvert to me. Quote Once they’ve secured such a position, ENTPs need to remember that for their ideas to come to fruition, they will always depend on others to assemble the pieces – if they’ve spent more time "winning" arguments than they have building consensus, many ENTPs will find they simply don’t have the support necessary to be successful. Playing devil’s advocate so well, people with this personality type may find that the most complex and rewarding intellectual challenge is to understand a more sentimental perspective, and to argue consideration and compromise alongside logic and progress. For Felicity, I think the rest is pretty accurate but maybe not this part because I think Felicity is very good at assembling a team. Also, this gave me rage flashbacks to 513 and how Felicity had "no opinion". It's interesting because I do think Oliver makes more decisions from a place of emotion and Felicity more from logic. You can see part of why Oliver lies bothered her so much because he was also denying her information. Edited May 13, 2017 by leopardprint Link to comment
BkWurm1 May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 I took the test answering it from Laurel's perspective and got ESTJ Here's that list of Strengths and Weaknesses. I think this one fits. Dedicated – Seeing things to completion borders on an ethical obligation for Executives. Tasks aren’t simply abandoned because they’ve become difficult or boring – people with the Executive personality type take them up when they are the right thing to do, and they will be finished so long as they remain the right thing to do. Strong-willed – A strong will makes this dedication possible, and Executives don’t give up their beliefs because of simple opposition. Executives defend their ideas and principles relentlessly, and must be proven clearly and conclusively wrong for their stance to budge. Direct and Honest – Executives trust facts far more than abstract ideas or opinions. Straightforward statements and information are king, and Executive personalities return the honesty (whether it’s wanted or not). Loyal, Patient and Reliable – Executives work to exemplify truthfulness and reliability, considering stability and security very important. When Executives say they’ll do something, they keep their word, making them very responsible members of their families, companies and communities. Enjoy Creating Order – Chaos makes things unpredictable, and unpredictable things can’t be trusted when they are needed most – with this in mind, Executives strive to create order and security in their environments by establishing rules, structures and clear roles. Excellent Organizers – This commitment to truth and clear standards makes Executives capable and confident leaders. People with this personality type have no problem distributing tasks and responsibilities to others fairly and objectively, making them excellent administrators. Inflexible and Stubborn – The problem with being so fixated on what works is that Executives too often dismiss what might work better. Everything is opinion until proven, and Executive personalities are reluctant to trust an opinion long enough for it to have that chance. Uncomfortable with Unconventional Situations – Executives are strong adherents to tradition and when suddenly forced to try unvetted solutions, they become uncomfortable and stressed. New ideas suggest that their methods weren’t good enough, and abandoning what has always worked before in favor of something that may yet fail risks their image of reliability. Judgmental – Executives have strong convictions about what is right, wrong, and socially acceptable. Executives’ compulsion to create order often extends to all things and everyone, ignoring the possibility that there are two right ways to get things done. Executives do not hesitate to let these “deviants” know what they think, considering it their duty to set things right. Too Focused on Social Status – Executives take pride in the respect of their friends, colleagues and community and while difficult to admit, are very concerned with public opinion. Executives (especially Turbulent ones) can get so caught up in meeting others’ expectations that they fail to address their own needs. Difficult to Relax – This need for respect fosters a need to maintain their dignity, which can make it difficult to cut loose and relax for risk of looking the fool, even in good fun. Difficulty Expressing Emotion – This is all evidence of Executives’ greatest weakness: expressing emotions and feeling empathy. People with the Executive personality type get so caught up in the facts and most effective methods that they forget to think of what makes others happy, or of their sensitivity. A detour can be breathtakingly beautiful, a joy for the family, but Executives may only see the consequence of arriving at their destination an hour late, hurting their loved ones by rejecting the notion too harshly. 2 Link to comment

statsgirl May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 Here's a quick way to tell if you're Introverted or Extroverted: You have a really tough day at work and you arrive home exhausted. To recharge and feel better do you: A. Call up some good friends and arrange to meet them at a club for some drinking and dancing; or B. Curl up with your Netflix cue and a bottle of your favorite wine. Or to put it in to Arrow terms -- you find out that the really cute guy who has been bringing you shot up laptops and sketchy energy drinks is really the vigilante know as The Hood. Do you: A. Call up your best friend and over a bottle of wine talk your feelings out with her/him even though you can't give her any details; or B. Process it alone with a pint of mint chip. 9 Link to comment

statsgirl May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 I'm sorry, @Mellowyellow. That's what I get for trying to be too clever and too quick. In the first one, B is the introvert answer. For the second, I think extroverts will almost always pick A. Introverts can pick either, depending on how close you are to a friend. Felicity picked B. In fact, we don't know that she has any friends other than Team Arrow and for an extrovert socializing is lifeblood. I don't think Felicity is an extrovert. Donna, on the other hand..... It would explain why Felicity and Donna had such trouble understanding each other. 3 Link to comment

EmeraldArcher May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 Malcolm Merlyn and I are both ENTJs (Commanders). I definitely think the Commander traits describe Malcolm (especially the Weaknesses). I took this assessment a few years ago, and have played to some of these strengths ever since. Strengths: Efficient – Commanders see inefficiency not just as a problem in its own right, but as something that pulls time and energy away from all their future goals, an elaborate sabotage consisting of irrationality and laziness. People with the Commander personality type will root out such behavior wherever they go. Energetic – Rather than finding this process taxing Commanders are energized by it, genuinely enjoying leading their teams forward as they implement their plans and goals. Self-Confident – Commanders couldn’t do this if they were plagued by self-doubt – they trust their abilities, make known their opinions, and believe in their capacities as leaders. Strong-Willed – Nor do they give up when the going gets tough – Commander personalities strive to achieve their goals, but really nothing is quite as satisfying to them as rising to the challenge of each obstacle in their run to the finish line. Strategic Thinkers – Commanders exemplify the difference between moment-to-moment crisis management and navigating the challenges and steps of a bigger plan, and are known for examining every angle of a problem and not just resolving momentary issues, but moving the whole project forward with their solutions. Charismatic and Inspiring – These qualities combine to create individuals who are able to inspire and invigorate others, who people actually want to be their leaders, and this in turn helps Commanders to accomplish their often ambitious goals that could never be finished alone. Weaknesses: Stubborn and Dominant – Sometimes all this confidence and willpower can go too far, and Commanders are all too capable of digging in their heels, trying to win every single debate and pushing their vision, and theirs alone. Intolerant – “It’s my way or the highway” – People with the Commander personality type are notoriously unsupportive of any idea that distracts from their primary goals, and even more so of ideas based on emotional considerations. Commanders won’t hesitate a second to make that fact clear to those around them. Impatient – Some people need more time to think than others, an intolerable delay to quick-thinking Commanders. They may misinterpret contemplation as stupidity or disinterest in their haste, a terrible mistake for a leader to make. Arrogant – Commander personalities respect quick thoughts and firm convictions, their own qualities, and look down on those who don’t match up. This relationship is a challenge for most other personality types who are perhaps not timid in their own right, but will seem so beside overbearing Commanders. Poor Handling of Emotions – All this bluster, alongside the assumed supremacy of rationalism, makes Commanders distant from their own emotional expression and sometimes downright scornful of others’. People with this personality type often trample others’ feelings, inadvertently hurting their partners and friends, especially in emotionally charged situations. Cold and Ruthless – Their obsession with efficiency and unwavering belief in the merits of rationalism, especially professionally, makes Commanders incredibly insensitive in pursuing their goals, dismissing personal circumstances, sensitivities, and preferences as irrational and irrelevant. 1 Link to comment

Yes. Most psychological tests have problems, especially quick ones. The good ones have validity scales to assess if you're answering honestly but they can have problems too. A longer test would have questions to try to figure out if you're comfortable at heart or have learned social skills to appear comfortable but then you hit the wall of too many questions and people getting tired trying to answer 300 questions on a four point scale.* It's early days though. Psychology as a science is barely a hundred years old. Hopefully testing will get better. * I try to take the tests on myself first so I know what its strengths and weaknesses are. I just tried the test myself and I take back my previous comment. I thought it was an update of the Meyers Briigs Personality Test but it's a re-working of much of it. Some thing are eaiser to understand like "You feel more energetic after spending time with a group of people." while others like "You often take initiative in social situations" are affected by social skills knowledge, as you say and others can be affected by things nothing to do with personality e.g. "You have a tendency to procrastinate until there is not enough time to do everything" is classic ADHD. I tried to look at how well they had tested validity and reliability but all the website would say is "We’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars on research, hundreds of hours creating and testing our material, talked with thousands of people, analyzed over 15 million test results, and tested a myriad of different approaches" so I'm a bit sceptical, especially the part of analyzing "over 15 million test results". It's a fun game though. And I did get the same result I got when I did the original test (INPF, it seems a popular one here) so that's a positive sign. Link to comment

statsgirl May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 In honour of @MaisyDaisy and @looptab , I'd like to suggest Felicity is an INFP: Quote Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration. Being a part of the Diplomat Role group, Mediators are guided by their principles, rather than by logic (Analysts), excitement (Explorers), or practicality (Sentinels). When deciding how to move forward, they will look to honor, beauty, morality and virtue – Mediators are led by the purity of their intent, not rewards and punishments. People who share the Mediator personality type are proud of this quality, and rightly so, but not everyone understands the drive behind these feelings, and it can lead to isolation. Unlike their Extraverted cousins though, Mediators will focus their attention on just a few people, a single worthy cause – spread too thinly, they’ll run out of energy, and even become dejected and overwhelmed by all the bad in the world that they can’t fix. This is a sad sight for Mediators’ friends, who will come to depend on their rosy outlook. If they are not careful, Mediators can lose themselves in their quest for good and neglect the day-to-day upkeep that life demands. Mediators often drift into deep thought, enjoying contemplating the hypothetical and the philosophical more than any other personality type. Left unchecked, Mediators may start to lose touch, withdrawing into “hermit mode”, and it can take a great deal of energy from their friends or partner to bring them back to the real world. Luckily, like the flowers in spring, Mediator’s affection, creativity, altruism and idealism will always come back, rewarding them and those they love perhaps not with logic and utility, but with a world view that inspires compassion, kindness and beauty wherever they go. 2 Link to comment
tv echo May 14, 2017 Share May 14, 2017 (edited) Their Arrow discussion was short this week... Agents of GEEK Podcast Episode 73 Craig Wack & Tatiana Torres 05/13/2017http://agentsofgeekpodcast.com/wordpress/ -- Tatiana: "Listen. He touched her shoulder. The episode was perfect." Craig (laughing): "And Felicity gave that knowing glance. And that's all you needed. They could have done anything else, and you would've been completely fine." -- Tatiana and Craig both thought that Oliver was stupid for not realizing that Chase's giving up at the end was a trap. Craig: "They have a Martha moment about their dads, and then Chase lays down his sword... Chase's move was totally like the cover story of Evil Mastermind Monthly." -- They noted that nothing was shown about Chase/William this week. However, they noted that Kovar/Bratva was reintroduced, so that Oliver will have to deal with them as well as Chase, and that a lot seems to be happening in the last two episodes. Craig thought that some of the plot could have been moved along earlier (instead of everything being bunched up at the end). Tatiana was irritated with both Thea and Wild Dog this week. She also thought that WH "seemed either high or drunk this episode." She also said that she went on tumblr this week and thought that tumblr "was a very scary place." This isn't a spoiler thread so I'm not sure what you're implying but have a guess and fear what. Stepping out if thread now. Link to comment

tv echo May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 (edited) A.V. Club reviewer gave 522 a grade of "B+"... Arrow moves pieces around before the big finale, along with one huge return By Alasdair Wilkins May 18, 2017 1:35 AMhttp://www.avclub.com/tvclub/arrow-moves-pieces-around-big-finale-along-one-hug-255549 Quote Arrow doesn’t do this sort of episode too often, but my goodness was tonight’s story the archetypal example of a table-setting episode.... * * * There’s a general sense here that Arrow is trying to pull together strands from all its previous seasons for the big finale. Malcolm Merlyn has been around throughout the show’s run, but his specific references to the Undertaking and Oliver’s days as the Hood remind that he was the primary villain of the first season. Yao Fei is an even more crucial reminder of the show’s origins, reminding us that it was his presence and his sacrifice—in some ways a more important one than even that of Oliver’s father—that set our hero on his current path. We get one hell of a connection to the show’s second season, but we’ll get back to that, because, well, damn. Elsewhere, Nyssa’s return provides a callback to season three and Ra’s al Ghul, especially when she will inevitably face off against her sister Talia in the finale. There’s not necessarily as obvious a link to the fourth season—although feel free to point out one I’m missing—though I suppose Oliver and Felicity potentially rekindling their romance might well count. Either way, the show is bringing everything home for next week’s crescendo. I go back and forth on how much actually happens in “Missing.” There are important character beats here, as Oliver gets well-observed moments with Thea and with Felicity. Oliver explaining his decision to send Felicity and Diggle away is again an illustration of how Arrow has learned to have Oliver isolate himself for not entirely self-destructive or sulky reasons, which is nice. Yet this episode struggles with much the same issue I discussed in last week’s review, which is the show has committed so much to the notion that Prometheus is invincible, which robs a lot of dramatic tension from the proceedings: Of course John and Felicity are going to get captured in short order by Chase’s associates. The episode acknowledges that Team Arrow should never have believed Prometheus was done after his capture, with Oliver even claiming he suspected it was a ruse all along—which, okay, sure, but that didn’t exactly come across last week. Anyway, the die has well and truly been cast at this point, so I will spare you my carping. Suffice it to say we’ve yet to see any evidence Oliver or Team Arrow can truly counter Chase, who as Malcolm says is always about 50 moves ahead. Oliver is going to need one hell of an equalizer. Why hello, Slade Wilson. In what has to be the single most exciting return the show could pull—well, fine, there’s a couple other possibilities I’ll mention in the strays—Manu Bennett makes his long-awaited return as the still imprisoned Deathstroke. There’s no real way to know where Wilson’s head is at after all this time, or whether he can be trusted, though it’s probably a good bet to say, nah, he totally can’t. But in putting together a team fearsome enough to stand a chance against Chase, Talia, and their associates, it’s hard to imagine a better combo than Malcolm, Talia, and Wilson. And Slade is so essential because he’s really the only character left who properly spans both the past and present sections of Oliver’s story. If by some miracle Oliver and Wilson can come out of this alive and reconciled, then that would arguably be the most powerful way for the show to complete Oliver’s redemption from the trauma and the violence of his five lost years. But never mind that: Manu Bennett is here, everyone, and that alone is cause to celebrate. * * * Everything with Lance, the Laurel of Earth-2, and Thea was just perfectly handled. Paul Blackthorne and Willa Holland are as reliably great as ever, and Katie Cassidy did nice work as the evil, sadistic Black Siren. Edited May 18, 2017 by tv echo Link to comment
tv echo May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 (edited) EW reviewer gave 522 a grade of "A-"... Arrow recap: 'Missing' SARA NETZLEY MAY 17, 2017 http://ew.com/recap/arrow-season-5-episode-22/ Quote Oh, Team Arrow. If you’d only realized you were still two episodes away from the end of the season, you never would’ve let your guard down to celebrate Chase’s defeat and Oliver’s birthday. But of course, the man known as Prometheus proves himself to be several steps ahead of Oliver yet again, and his team suffers because of it. * * *Seeing the hungry way Oliver’s looking at Felicity, Thea claims to want to eat more cake in the other room, and everyone takes the hint but Curtis, who gets dragged away by John. Now alone, Felicity and Oliver agree to take things one step at a time, and Oliver admits that hypothetically dating his ex-fiancée’s a little tough. She urges him to relax and enjoy their victory over Chase, reaching up to loosen his tie. It’s playful and intimate and, per Marc Guggenheim’s Twitter, was completely unscripted. However, that palpable sexual tension pops like a bubble when Curtis realizes Dinah’s missing and then is abducted himself. Rene’s gone, too, and Oliver and John realize that this was Chase’s plan all along. Worse, since he’s locked up, he must have help. This is confirmed when Oliver finds a League of Assassins arrow, which tells him Talia’s in town. Oliver storms to Chase’s cell to ask where “they” are. Chase plays dumb and then, predicting exactly what Oliver’s going to say, yells along with him, “You know damn well who!” LOL forever! Also, how is Chase pulling off that lemon-yellow jumpsuit so well, and why is his hair still flawless even in custody? It’s a supervillain mystery. * * * Anyway, Chase knows that Oliver gets his strength from his team, which is why he’s taking them away one by one. Oliver tries to outsmart him by sending John and Felicity out of state, instead of keeping them close. They reluctantly leave, although they also worry that Chase has predicted that Oliver will act against his instincts. It’s all very “I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you, but I also cannot choose the wine in front of me.” * * * When Oliver and Malcolm realize what’s going down with John and Felicity, they head to the scene but find only wreckage. “I would’ve thought you’d have tagged your pets by now,” Malcolm sniffs, forcing Oliver to shoutily admit that “Curtis did put tracking nanites in Felicity, but they were rendered useless when Chase set off an EMP,” which is pretty much everything you need to know about Oliver’s personal and professional lives in one sentence. * * * TThen we revisit one of Oliver’s favorite concerns: His personal connections make him vulnerable. Malcolm’s as sick of this song as I am and snaps, “It takes a special kind of idiot to actually get dumber with time.” Preach. Malcolm reminds Oliver that human connections are what keep you human, and “it’s sad that it’s a sociopath who has to point that out to you.” He says Oliver tried living on an island, and it didn’t work, so now he has to choose an anchor: his past, or the people he loves. YES, PREACH. * * *I loved the light and joyful moments of tonight’s episode. They were a welcome counterbalance to the heavier stuff, which can sometimes overwhelm the storytelling on Arrow. Setting aside the overly elaborate plan to get caught so Oliver and company will let down their guard to make them easy pickings, can we acknowledge for a second that on top of everything else, Chase can fly a helicopter? Talia’s School of Revenge must be incredibly comprehensive. Quentin reports a few days’ worth of newspapers piled up at Rene’s place, but come on, do we believe for a second that Rene subscribes to an actual newspaper? The only newspaper subscriber on Team Arrow is Quentin, and maaaaybe Diggle. Here’s why Felicity Smoak is my new event planner: Not only did she hang festive green streamers and balloons, but she ordered a Green Arrow cake for a 6-year-old because she wasn’t sure the bakery would understand why they were making one for a grown man, and she decorated the cupcakes with little green arrows. (The Lord Mesa Bakery was a sweet little Easter egg, too.) Edited May 18, 2017 by tv echo 3 Link to comment
