Oh jeez. That's pathetic.

It is.

I have read how the show is highly scripted and edited.  I like to watch the show, but it is not as if Maci is not used to doing a highly scripted and edited show. I actually think Maci did the show not only for the money, but because of the fact she would be nude. Sort of a shock factor.

On last weeks Challenge episode, TJ Lavin was wearing a TTM shirt.

Do they ever have fat people on naked and afraid? I'm curious!

I don't know your definition of "fat". I've never seen a super heavy person on there, but they're not definitely not all fit and toned. They have had "chubby" types on there, for sure.

@Cherry Cola why?????? ?

My gawd. Did Maci demand that MTV cut a deal with TJ to wear their stupid clothing? Does TM cast members really have this much pull? WTF?? Some knocked up teenager have my favorite show host sporting their dumb logo. Whatever. I guess.

There was Eric from the Fresh Meat season. There were definitely people there that were in no way ready for the physical comps.

I think they were referring to the N&A show.

Unless you mean some chubby people from The Challenge were on N&A.

I'll give her some credit...it's three days longer than I would have lasted in the wilderness, especially naked.

I'm disappointed that it's only for 3 days. That's the number of days that you can safely go without water. They could basically just sit around whatever homemade shelter they slapped together for 3 days and sleep their time away if they wanted. (Ha ha, and some people actually do that.) Wouldn't even have to TRY to eat or drink. On N&A, shit doesn't even start getting real until the 4th or 5th day because that's when true dehydration sinks in.

My first cousin has appeared on both a regular episode of N&A as well as the 40-day All Star challenge. He filmed the last show more than 2 years ago and he is still, to this day, suffering from effects of things that he experienced there. There are some health ramifications he got in Africa that he may never fully recover from. People complain about the Africa All Stars challenge because nothing really happened and it was "boring", but the conditions there were so awful that the best the cast could do was to just sleep and conserve their energy for the long (15 mile) walk at the end.

For a 3-day challenge, Maci wouldn't really even need to do much to prepare. As long as she practiced fire making, and they're allowed firestarters now, and building basic garbage shelters, she'd be fine. She technically wouldn't even need to worry about finding food because if she practiced the binge/starvation diet that many of the contestants find helpful, she wouldn't even need to eat for that short amount of time.

I want to see homegirl actually try to survive, ha ha.

That makes sense, but...this is Maci. If she was able to build a basic shelter and spend 72 hours without either social media or a bud light, she surpassed my expectations, and I 100% mean that.

There was one dude on the show who had given up cigarettes, like, the night before filming or something. He'd underestimated the power of addiction. Went into nicotine withdrawal during filming and had to tap out. If Maci's drinking is as bad as I think it is, she could have some real problems on there, especially if she is still drinking in the days leading up to filming.

I had never seen it before, so I tuned in late last week because of all of the talk about Maci participating. Do you want to guess which episode I happened to tune into? ☺ That episode was filmed in Nicaragua too, of all places!

A tobacco farmer and lifelong smoker, he had his last cigarette on the boat, just before he arrived to meet his partner and drop trou. What a moron. So. Much. Non-stop. Barfing. He claimed it was due exclusively to the elements, but his nicotine withdrawal was insane. Had I not known he was a smoker, I wouldn't even know where to begin to guess what he was withdrawing from.

(His partner was a rock star though; no way I could have done what she did.)

You just reminded me that Maci herself is a smoker.  Aside from beer withdrawals, I am sure the nicotine fits didn't help her either.

Yeah, that part of the show is no joke. The only thing they'll let you have that isn't part of your "one item" is necessary medication. That's given in the morning, or in the night, with just enough water to wash the medicine down with. And it has to be medication that's necessary, like something controlling a chronic condition, and something you've been on for a documented period of time. (You can't just show up with a bunch of opioids and swear that you need 3 a day, or show up with a new prescription of Adderall to help curb appetite-though someone DID try that.) Cigarettes, alcohol, weed, etc., those are given up as soon as you strip off the clothing. No sneaking any to the contestants. They're actually pretty militant about that.

Honestly, I would have a HUGE problem with caffeine withdrawal. That and probably sugar withdrawal. I don't eat a lot of sweet stuff but sugar is in EVERYTHING these days.

Maci could have been gone longer than the 3 days that she was there because they do hole them up in a resort/hotel for a period of time before sending them home if they tap out early. Although it's not as secretive as SURVIVOR (if you get voted out on day 2 then you basically get to stay in a luxury resort for the rest of filming which, to me, is REALLY winning the game), but they do try to hold them there as long as they can so that the end result isn't leaked. With this being a so-called "celebrity" version, it's possible that they held Maci there for X number of days so that people didn't know she tapped out early. If she DID tap out early...

I certainly hope she got more "training" than what was shown in that last episode. Some of the previous contestants on the show have started their own survival camps and they actually train folks who have been accepted. They do hardcore training for 2 weeks or something. She, what, basically built a fire and a shelter in 1 or 2 days? She needs to be walking over sticks and rocks barefoot for a few weeks, building up calluses on the bottom of her feet, practicing a starvation/binge diet, cutting down on the booze...

Withdrawal from lack of alcohol will do that to you. #AA

That sounds exactly what I was going to say!  You can actually get very ill from acute alcohol withdrawal, so I’m wondering if this was why she didn’t last very long.  I don’t watch that show (did her episode air yet) so I have no idea.  Homegirl is never without a drink and I noticed she was drinking those hard sodas (bright orange liquid in a glass bottle).

Eh, I'm no Maci fan, but I'd bet giving up a bed, her phone, and other general comforts probably hit her a lot harder than the lack of alcohol did. These girls are just spoiled and probably not too used to any kind of discomfort. I wouldn't have even attempted this, and probably wouldn't have lasted more than 24 hours clothed, and wouldn't have lasted any amount of time naked. I am just not a "naked" person.

The address to return TTM merchandise is 1662 Stockton Street in Jacksonville FL.  It is an old historic house, but may have been converted for commercial use.  Maybe there is an "annex" in back.  It looks like it might be a venue for meetings and events, according to Google.  No sign of a pregnant young woman on Google Maps, though.

I used to live in Jax. From what I remember, Stockton St. was kind of a rough, industrial type area.

This is right behind my Riverside hospital.  The dead end just a couple of blocks down that street, is the St. John's River.  I hope when the water is calm and warm they go down to watch the manatees sunbathe.

It still is.  That's the other end closer into downtown.  This is the riverside hospitals area.  It's pretty decent and being restored fairly nicely.

Better still, they can sell some of their T-shirts to them.  Manatees need pockets, too.

Maci needs to stop with the adoption baloney.  It isn't all picnics and rainbows.

In the 1960s, my mother in law and her younger siblings were in foster care.  Their mom died suddenly of a brain aneurysm and not too long later their dad died from alcoholism.  She was the oldest and age 14.  A married couple who were professors at a local university became her foster parents.  They had 3 young children.  Long story short, my mother in law made a great live-in free babysitter.  She had many other chores and duties to perform to "earn her keep."  They wanted to adopt her, and she ran away.  When she found out they were starting the adoption process, she packed her things and she ran away to a near by church.  A member of the congregation was an older widow whose children were all grown and left home became her foster mother until she turned 18.  My husband and MIL speak about her fondly.  I believe my mother-in-law's story because I've never known her to lie and social services didn't make her go back where she ran away from.

Two of my husband's co-workers have fostered and adopted children.  One is heart breaking and the other is heart warming.

The heart breaking one is a lady who adopted two sisters.  They were 5 and 6 when she started fostering then adopted them.  The oldest one cant have access to any electronic device because she will find porn.  These children were abused and they are incredibly damaged.  They tell her she isn't their mom and they want their mom (even though she let her boyfriends sexually and physically abuse them).  They have issues with being violent and sexually inappropriate.

The heart warming family is totally different.  The parents are a married couple who for whatever reason couldn't have children.  They fostered 3 girls who aren't related but all close in age.  Just a few months apart.  All 3 girls were age 8, and their adoptions are all complete now.  They are the sweetest family.  The girls came from difficult and complex situations, but they have all bonded and are doing remarkably well.  The girls are sweet and loving to their new parents and each other.  They are all really lucky to have found each other and I hope they always stay strong like they are.

There is no way to predict how easy or difficult it will be to parent a child adopted from the foster system.  The adoption counselor said it best when she told Maci and Taylor that foster kids have difficult and complex backgrounds that make them challenging to parent.

The whole adoption thing with Maci and Tayor is total bullshit.  A lame storyline and nothing more.  They provided a little television exposure for that adoption agency and adoption agencies in general, so maybe that's a good thing.  But there's no way they are seriously considering adoption, and forcing Bentley to recite that prepared speech was awful -- he was clearly uncomfortable with that filming segment.

Feigning an interest in adoption is all the rage in reality tv now.  Jessa Duggar, Whitney Thore and now these numbnuts.   I have yet to see any of it go anywhere.

I just find it so incredibly offensive.  These story lines present adopted children like animals that need to be rescued from the pound by some amazing, self-martyring, (white) reality star(s) and pushes the narrative that adopted children should be "thankful" that anyone would "save" them.   When society constantly reminds adopted children that they should be thankful that someone adopted them (in a way that children parented by bio parents are not reminded of), that's a lot of responsibility to put on a child, especially one from the foster care system who likely has already had a lot of trauma in their lives.

I hope what I'm trying to say makes sense. Faking these story lines about adoption is offensive to potential adoptive parents who have been waiting/saving to adopt or who have poured their hearts into kids with lots of baggage from foster care; offensive to adopted children that they are portrayed like puppies who should be thankful someone picked them up from the pound; and offensive to birth parents who made the heart-wrenching decision to place a child for adoption because they believed it was the best thing and ultimate act of love they could do for their child when they couldn't raise the child, as it minimizes that enormous sacrifice & decision like it was someone dropping a feral cat off at the pound. I find it disgusting, especially for a franchise that features a birth mom who is still clearly dealing with the emotional trauma of placing her child for adoption (Catelynn).  The show's producers should know better as they've seen the serious pain & sacrifice from adoption play out first hand with Catelynn and B&T.  I know it's too much to expect them to have some empathy for Catelynn, their "co-worker," by not using this as a fake story line, but damn....

(BTW, not directing my rant at you, @Brooklynista. I know you were just pointing out that it's a popular fake story line. My rant is directed at these shows, especially TM)
