Thanks for mentioning Body Parts.  I watched all current episodes last night!

This show is SO good; I've shed a few tears watching each episode.  The only SAD thing is that it's described as "a limited" series.  How limited???

I've been assuming it's limited until they see how popular it it or isn't.

Thirding and fourthing on the cowboy's knee issue. In some cases, where they are at least on the West Coast, Dr. Lee arranges a consult with someone she knows. Or she usually hooks them up with someone in her area, like the woman with the mast cell disease. I think she was wise not to poke at the blue spot under the lipoma.

I can't image trying to drain that cyst on Romero's face from the inside...would they have gone through his gums? And that was a MONSTER cyst.

Why did that one guy get so antsy and have to take a break?  He was outside on his phone….odd.  And months later, they couldn’t reach him……hmmmmm…

Is that the guy whose cyst exploded the night before his appointment with Dr. Lee? He was an odd one. Watching Dr. Lee scoop out the contents of his cyst with a spoon was just about the weirded thing I've ever seen on TV and I watch a lot of crazy stuff.

Me, too. We record the shows, but I tend to delete the "super size" ones that are just the previous episode with a few more scenes. Which episode was that?

I remember that guy. He had a HUGE fear of doctors. Dr. Lee let him have a smoke break during the procedure because he was so jittery.

I bet Dr. Lee wished she could give him general anesthesia! I understand why she doesn’t do that in her practice, but some people can’t handle being awake during a procedure.

Watching it now. I do hope the guy with the beard realizes that customers may be avoiding him due to his beard. It’s the most unkempt  beard I’ve ever seen.  He’s too young for that.  I hope getting the bumps removed will inspire him to take care of himself.

New episode (at least to me) last night.  The guy from Hawaii (failure to launch?) with that large lipoma on his butt - that thing was huge!  He seemed to be pretty sweet and I truly hope he eventually finds his way to a relationship and grandchildren for his mother.

The woman with the skin condition - too bad her grandmother kept thinking she was dirty (great grandmother?) and started her on the path of overworking her skin.  She truly was an attractive woman so I hope she continues to be able to resist the urge to scratch.

Had to laugh at the guy with the fedora on his pilar cyst.  Way to make lemonade out of lemons.  He looked so much better with hair after the fact!

The guy from Hawaii had one of the flattest butts I have ever seen, that lipoma looked like he had a bad BBL.

I was surprised how much better the guy looked with hair.

When you start accessorizing your cyst, it’s time to get it removed.

He did seem very nice but his posture and demeanor really spoke of his lack of confidence. A good haircut and some dental work would go a long way toward meeting women.

Dr. Lee called it a fedora, too.  It was actually a bowler, not a fedora.

But it was adorbs.

Did anyone watch a week ago?  I was intrigued by a lady with a rare condition, but lost cable due to a terrible storm.  I can’t seem to find it online.

Was this another one where it was caused by scratching, or can't remember what all else.  I keep most of them, except keloids.
And some of the super-sized episodes have extra pops, I assume from her videos.
I'm seeing too much filler about the people.  I don't need their life story, just a little, and little on how they end up.
I don't need to see them on the job, or long visits with family.
DOES THIS MEAN SHE'S RUNNING OUT OF POPS?  I sure hope not.

I fast-forward through all of that fluff.  I also never watch the extra shows.  If I don't see a season+episode number, I'm not going to set to record.  I watch all these "reality" shows on the DVR so I can skip-skip-skip...and then come here for the real skinny!

They've always done the filler on this show.  I don't mind it that much the first time through but then they have to repeat it all when they meet Dr. Lee.  I would like to see more pops, less filler (and I seriously doubt the world is running out of pops...for instance, I have a coworker who has a stye or cyst on her eye that is incredibly distracting and she's had it for years...I would have tried and gotten rid of that thing years ago but apparently it doesn't bother her because she hasn't done anything about it).

I think they’ve always done the three cases per show, but somehow the background filler proportion seems to have gone up . Maybe they’re spending less time on the procedures?

It's just more fluff than usual  There are pops, not just from her, on youtube.  Also, there are some earwax removals from Audiologist UK.

In her defense, if the pop is visible she does say "I can see why you are here."  It is only when it is hidden in some way that she does the inane "why are you here."  ("DUH...FOR MY 15 MINUTES OF FAME")

Of course she already knows why they are here...she has talked to her staff, probably a huge production staff, and has the file in her hands.

She might be like MANY of Dr. Lee's patients who said they visited doctor after doctor who told them nothing could be done...or it was "too dangerous" to do anything.

Those Earwax videos are insane. I love them. I even went over to the ear doctor a few weeks ago because I tend to have extra earwax. When he 1st looked in he said it was excessive But he was able to remove it with the instrument which I like better Instead of irrigating it with water. I guess I've watched too many videos because when I saw what came out It seems pretty small to me Maybe the size of an eraser on a pencil Where I was expecting a lot more. Oh well. LOL. 1 time years ago the ear doctor pulled out some earwax and it felt like he was pulling a cactus out of my ear Which was a little uncomfortable but so satisfying Like a good cyst pop. I don't get that same feeling have satisfaction When they use the water tool.

It's like when you get your teeth cleaned and there's a big ol' chunk of plaque that's so stubborn that the dental hygienist has to get out the old school hooks and start mining for gold.  Not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's worth it for the satisfaction we both get when that sucker pops out!

Maybe there is more filler depending on the cases. If it is something Dr. Lee can take care of in the same office visit, that means more filler. If she has to consult with a colleague or have tests done then see them again, there is less filler because the case takes up more time.

I remember the case of Roger, who had horrible rhinophyma, spanned multiple episodes because they tried to do the surgery in the office and had to stop because it was too dangerous. Fortunately, most people with rhinophyma don’t have it nearly as bad as Roger so Dr. Lee can remove the extra tissue in the office.

Also, might have been told that insurance doesn't cover it, and cost would be high,

I'm so glad they included footage of Dr Lee doing the necessary diagnostic work to make an informed decision for Eden's care.

I get teased whenever I watch her show because "she's not a real doctor," or the show "must be fake!" because they have those 'backstory' interviews.

I just like that in between the emotional psoriasis story and our always reliable pilar cyst, Dr Lee did lab work to help determine a diagnosis she made. And she was right! It was scabies!

I'm going to ask my friend if they would fake that!

I hope that guy with psoriasis is able to keep getting those shots. He looked like a completely different person afterwards! I do wonder about him and other patients on the show that need medication long-term. I assume some of them do not have insurance to pay for it, and those drugs can be very expensive.

If Dr. lee told me I had mites pooping between my fingers, I think I would forget all about what was on my face. I am freaked out just thinking about it.

Scabies mites are disgusting, and fabulously cool at the same time.  I'm surprised they didn't show them moving, because that's the fastest way for people to do something about it NOW.

We were curious about the cost of the psoriasis shots, so I tried to look it up after the show.

It’s hard to figure the dosage, but it seems like the injection is a couple of thousand dollars per shot, not covered by Medicaid. There is a program to get you the shots at a minimal cost, but there is a limit to the annual benefit, which might limit the number of shots you can get without paying more.

That’s crazy it’s not covered by Medicaid.  What about Medicare?  I couldn’t tell how old he was.  He was working and had a young child, so I thought younger than he appeared….but, hopefully, Dr. Lee recommended insurance counseling.  If he can make enough income to qualify for an individual insurance plan through the Marketplace, it’ll probably be covered.  Those plans are free or extremely low costs, based on income. You just need a minimum income.  Or, if he’s old enough for Medicare, explore that.

Oh, okay.  So, if that job he had pays him at least $15,000.  per year, he should qualify for an individual plan through the marketplace.  They are standard plans and are required to cover standard things.  I sometimes think many people aren’t aware of these options when they say they don’t have medical insurance. In most states,  some coverage is available whether low income or no income.

I love Dr. Lee, but this annoys me about her too. Especially when she says, "You look pretty good to me."

I am so glad the sweet gentleman from last night's show got help with his psoriasis. I hope that in the future treatments are available for those suffering from psoriasis that don't compromise the patient's immune system.

I suspect Dr. Lee is trying to be welcoming to the patient and not seemed turned off by their appearance.  There’s a fine line I guess about it being genuine.  I suppose the patient feels appreciative of the effort, even if they know their blemishes are apparent.  What turns me off even more is how the podiatrists on My Feet Are Killing Me grimace and talk about how it’s the worst case they’ve ever seen.

I knew my husband for only 7mos before we got married and NEVER suspected he was so "prissy."  He was a podiatrist for the first ten years of our 20yr marriage and never explained completely why he abruptly sold his practice...with no definite plans.  I'm always SHOCKED when I see some of this stuff...not believing he could ever handle SEEING it...let alone treating it.

I always thought it was a case of "seeing the patient" instead of "seeing the disease."  Talk to them normally, appreciate them as a person, etc. instead of walking in and saying "Oh my God, look at that thing!"

I also always wonder about the patients who say doctors wouldn't do anything for them.   Because you know every single doctor in this country that had "that" going on, whatever "that" is, would do whatever they had to do to fix it for themselves.  So how can they leave a patient hanging like that?  I suspect it's several factors together; wrong doctor, finances, not understanding how to get the care they need, fear, insurance.  Nothing in our system makes getting medical care easy and if you don't have the resources to fight for yourself, you end up with "that" for a long time.

Good points.  I have access to the best medical care in the world, good insurance and still, I have to be very proactive in my health care needs. Plus, I’m educated and highly motivated.  So, I can’t imagine how difficult it would be for people without those resources.  This show has revealed just how much suffering there is in our country. A lot of people in need fall through the cracks.

Having been diagnosed with breast cancer in January I discovered quickly that even with great doctors and great care I had to be my own advocate.  For the first few weeks I felt like I was on a runaway train and every part of my life (especially my schedule) had been taken over by others but finally I was able to regain some control and that helped me feel better about the whole process.  Health care providers can forget sometimes that the patient still has a life they have to live outside of their care and need to be reminded of that until they stop acting on your behalf and listening to you.
