I didn't read that the now-ex turned down $50,000.  I read it to say that he asked for $50,000 "a totally unrealistic number" and TLC turned him down and offered him $500 to do just an appearance.

Well, she got one thing right. She's quoted in that article as saying "He's self centered and insensitive" in reference to the boyfriend she was telling us was another her on last Sunday's episode😂😂 Good on the guy for refusing TLC's offer. 

I feel for Caelen. She's been jerking him around for 5 years. I wish he'd cut her out of his life and only deal with her about things regarding the kids. She's going to play house with him for a couple of months, then get mad over something ridiculous and move back to grandma and grandpa enablers. I sure hope Caelen refuses to have sex with her unless she shows him an implant in her arm, proof she's had a depo shot or he wears a condom.

I thought at one point at the end I saw Hailey 1's mother peevishly saying to her that Matthew came over and spent a few minutes with his daughter and then an hour in the bedroom having sex with her. Hailey then had the cat who ate the canary face on. She looked proud that she was getting it on with what is now Hailey 2's boyfriend. Ugh.

The saddest part is that if you fast-forward 14 years, Hailey’s daughter will be allowed to do the same thing and find herself in the same predicament. Neglectful parenting is putting it mildly. I think Hailey’s mother (and some of the others as well) should be reported to children’s protective services. She’s an unfit mother.

If she is pregnant it really just showcases how evil and stupid she and Matthew are. We all know it would be an intentional pregnancy. Who brings a baby into the world to one-up someone else? To rub it in their face that you're dating their child's father. Especially when #2 was supposed to be original Hailey's best friend. I think it also has to do with Hailey 2 wanting to be on TV. She glommed onto Hailey1 and Matthew knowing they were filming a reality show.

Hailey1 and Matthew had a small YouTube following documenting their relationship and the fact that they were expecting before filming started. They stopped when they were doing the show. I have the feeling that Hailey2 sees the opportunity to get TV fame and $ by creating drama with H1 and Matthew. After all, look how it worked out for the Teen Mom casts. YMMV

In answer to the question, are the girls really that clueless?  No real in-depth research needs to be done here.  What needs clarification is the girls aren't ignorant (not knowing better); they're stupid (as in, they know better).

Everyone one of these stories comes from a dysfunctional family where teenage pregnancy seems to be rampant.  Everyone one of these stories comes from a geographical area that isn't known for being particularly well-off (with the possible exception of Chloe in Phoenix).  There isn't a lot of opportunity where many of these girls live - they see having a baby as a way out of the house to get away from the perceived poverty into their own personal poverty.

They've all received some form of public education, but nothing will happen to them so they outrightly ignore everything they've been told or heard and dive in to a situation that will pretty much keep them in their poverty through their adult years.

Sadly, shows like this and 'Teen Mom' glamorize teen pregnancy and, in particular, teen sex.

Mostly, I'm pointing to the worst case of the family on 'Unexpected' where there are multiple generations of teen pregnancy, dating back to Grandma, and there are two teenage moms living in the house with their infants.  Back in the day, these families would be considered welfare queens, but now it's all good.

Yes, the girls really are that clueless, but it isn't for lack of life lessons they should've learned purely by observation of the world around them.
