I don't care if Rick monologues.  I'm here for Rick and company.  Go team :D

I watched some of the hype shows that my DVR picked up and did get a laugh at everyone imitating Andy Lincoln saying "Coral".

I agree. I only watch this show for Rick and his people so I have no problem if they occasional monologue. I gave up last season because of Negan's neverending monologues and if we are getting more Negan this season, I am bailing again.

I think that, instead of being killed, I would  prefer that Negan is allowed to live, with his vocal cords severed. The episode could be  titled: "I have no voice and I must monologue."

I would love if Negan was killed off in a hideous manner in the first ten minutes but, much as I despise the character, I’ve come to terms with the probability that he is not going anywhere. I can’t swallow a redemption arc though. Show cannot ask me to bond with a character who viciously and gleefully murdered Glen. I don’t care how bad his life was pre- and post-apocalypse. He could donate a kidney to Judith, and I’d still want him dead.

Maybe Negan will go on a stealth mission with Dumpster Diva, and every time he gets five words into a speech she'll shut him up with up with "Quiet. Stalk now." And then he can mug and contort his spine around while she walks like an Egyptian.

Rick Grimes and his motivational speeches are always good fun. Because being motivated to follow Rick Grmes means that there will a mass culling of red shirts, thereby making it easier for us to remember who each character is. Make sure you scream about the importance of silence again, Rick. Oh, and get the balloons ready. Balloons are always helpful.

Yeah, but he sure is pretty.

I feel the same. And I'd like for Dumpster Diva and her minions to either die or crawl back into the garbage never to be seen again. I hope if they do plan on killing off Negan this season that they don't drag it out. And if the monologues get too much there's always the mute button.

I agree.  Even with Negan dead, there are still his henchmen to deal with, and there are still way to many people on this show who yak yak yak.  Kill Negan, and there would still be fights and action.  I don't think Negan is necessary anymore than the idiot garbage people are.  I don't want to see redemption SLs for any of Negan's people either.  They keep killing off characters I like, and replacing them with boring morons.

OK, I just went to the AMC site and watched the opening. I started by googling "AMC," and the first link that popped up suggested that I buy tickets for "Boo 2! A Madea Halloween." I can't believe I'm saying this, but the first option might actually have been the better choice.

This is just... sad. Whatever the hell Tara is doing with the licorice is kind of funny, but besides that this just looks awful.

I thought I was gonna hold off a few more hours before I started drinking, but that time table just got sped way up.

The garbage people make no sense to me. I mean, in theory it’s fine. Great place to hide. Probably useful stuff for scavenging. Who’s going to come look for you in a dump? But the execution is mystifying. Their society is choreographed. Their language is ridiculous. Jadis is dumb enough to think Negan won’t backstab her ass as easy as breathing. She’s competing for the same dwindling resources. She’s equally disinclined to make her community relatively self sufficient. Other than a source of redshirts, she’s nothing but downside. If I can’t have Negan dead before 10.07pm tonight, then I’ll settle for pest extermination.

Start drinking? Were we supposed to agree on a time because ... yeah. Oops.

Tonight will be the biggest test of my decision to cut the cord (satellite dish) a couple months ago. This show was about the only one I watched "real time" and posting in the live chats was part of the fun. I've already purchased the season pass for TWD on Amazon (for half the price of one month of satellite service, financial win!) but won't see the first episode until tomorrow. The test is that I can't join in here and read all the funny real time if I want to be spoiler free. But! I will be reading these live threads as I make my way through the episodes once I get them. I know you guys will deliver the snark.

To me, Negan needs to die in this episode if for nothing else, the crime of having had Darryl as a prisoner, and never making him shower.  That is unforgivable.

Also, I would really like for one of the women to comment, "Can you believe how shiny and glossy Carl's hair is?  I couldn't get my hair to look that good pre-ZA."

Fine, as long as it's not parables like the interminable Stone in the Road story. Damn.  I wish wishing for a barbed wire baseball bat on my own head while listening to that.

I really want to see Dwight bite the dust in this one, after being force-fed Alpo. Cannot stand the character

Episode guide says it ends at 10:07.  So a little over an hour minus however many commercials we figured out ran last season.

So, five minutes of the show and five of commercials sounds about right. Some of the commercials are so long and filled with some sort of spin-offs of this show that more than once I've stopped my FFing, thinking they were part of the show.

The actress who plays Dumpster Diva is named "Pollyanna"? I'd be impressed with the irony, except for the fact that I doubt ol' Robert "Torture porn really tickles my wee balls" Kirkman is familiar with that term.

Yeah, I'll watch. It's not like I have anything better to do on a Sunday night.

To be fair, I think most of the responsibility for not showering still goes to Daryl.

Hope Rick and Co makes things right with the Oceanside ladies this season.

What went down in E15 didn't sit well with me at all.

Excellent point.

I hate Jardis, not just for her annoying clothes, manner of speaking and the first name of the actor who plays her, but because she had the nerve to disrespect Michonne.  Rick Grimes is no prize but to ask a woman if her man is up for grabs is way off base.  I was shocked and angry when it turned out that the Garbage Pail kids had betrayed Rick but when I think about what happened to the Oceanside women, I can't say that I blame her.  Rick Grimes and his merry band have destroyed every community they've encountered.  They didn't even give the Oceanside community a chance to say 'no'.  Rick has a lot of chickens waiting to come home to roost but I hope I'm still watching when that one does.

I'm watching the last episode while I wait for the new season.

They're hyping that "FIRST TIME EVER ON NATIONAL TV!!!" deleted scene like somebody just dug up the last Dead Sea Scroll and religion has been solved.

Mostly it seems a little slow.  I keep getting distracted thinking about Sacha rolling along through the Georgia summer heat, packed in that blanket-covered coffin, having a little "alone time."

I guess it's just a nitpick, but it's too damn weird how half the cast is bundled up in winter gear--Negan's in a zipped-up leather jacket with a muffler, FFS--and the other half is wearing little pitted out tank tops with sweat stains.

Was that the scene where Michonne was giving Carl a pep talk about beating their enemies?

Uh oh, busted.  Once I saw it was just Carl sitting at the kitchen table, learning another life lesson, I thought "Filler" and didn't pay attention.

Are they really that pretentious, are they banking that the audience is composed of idiots or are they on the level? I don't know which option is most depressing.

Mmmm, my DVR caught six hours of TWD season premiere build-up promo shows this week.  A clue!

So it would just be Negan holding up filled posterboard after posterboard like the other project Andrew Lincoln is most famous for?  I might watch that.

An hour of Negan, Actually would beat the hell out of anything he did last season. During my power re-watch this week I did hit the mute button any time he appeared onscreen. His dialogue is unrevealing, meaningless and irritating. And watching JDM talk about the character like he's clever makes me wince. In pre-apocalypse Negan would be someone Quantico lets rot in a hole.

I think so, too, but he needs to put on some weight.  The man looks like he's about to fall down any second.

Maybe it's like mom always said - if you keep leaning you're gonna freeze that way?

Other than Negan the GPK and Oceanside were my biggest problems. S1-6 Rick Nation never would have trusted the former and wouldn't have left the latter without weapons.

Heh, mine too.  I watched about 30 min of it.  I do like some of the behind the scenes cast stuff, they seem like they all like each other.  Then again, they ARE actors.

My DVR caught a bunch of stuff too, which really surprised me since I didn't realize I still had that channel. Durr. I watched none of it, except for one brief scene on how "Winslow" was created. All I could think was, "Mr. Nicotero, get a damned haircut!"

That’s the fighting spirit that’s kept some of us here, glass in hand, for seven seasons!

I had 3 glasses of wine and two of Drambuie, but it's all worn off now. I need to learn to wait and save it for when it's really needed.
