Jason has expressed some actual thought about Paul winning at the end. Unfortunately, he has his closest ally attached to Paul at the hip and would do anything for him. Popular Post Callaphera August 16, 2017 Popular Post Share August 16, 2017 (edited) So it definitely sounds like the DR got in a few ears about the bullying tactics and intimidation game that they've been playing. The poor staff is probably having flashbacks to BB15, when they had Amanda go out and warn Aaryn and others about the way they were probably being perceived because of their comments in the house. On the one hand, I appreciate production trying to stop it. I'm sure they don't want to stop it all because I saw an article yesterday claiming that this season has the highest ratings in three years and I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the constant fighting and Josh antics on the broadcast show (unless As The Stomach Turns, starring Jessica and Cody really was that interesting to people). I appreciate the effort nonetheless. On the other hand, like I said in a post yesterday, I would really prefer that production have a light hand in the game. They're not supposed to interfere although we all know they do. I'm sure it was nothing more than pointed questions - "So, what's been happening in the house lately? Oh, that's interesting. So, how do you think viewers are going to perceive what happened?" - but really, Big Brother the entity, not the game, is just supposed to observe and only step in when things begin to get physically dangerous. See all, know all, call you out for not washing your hands when you leave the bathroom, but not interfere. Of course that's never the case. Production has had their hand in the game many times. No one will ever be able to convince me otherwise that the BotB comp in BB16 when Caleb said he was going to sit on the ground and not help Frankie in a paired competition wasn't delayed and fixed so that one person could complete it without help. There was the obvious riggage in Rachel's second season. So we know it happens. And we know the DR has asked questions before that have changed how HGs go about the game. Obviously I'm biased and hypocritical. I wanted Rachel to win so I had no problem with the riggage. The BotB comp? Pissed me off because of the riggage. I'm not sure how to think about this one. I'm tired of seeing Cody, Mark, and Elena get shit on by the rest of the house (and when Cody leaves, the order will be Mark, Elena, and Kevin) and yet when the first posts start hitting the forums about another screaming match in the kitchen, I'm the first one to pop open the feeds and sit there with my bowl of popcorn. At the same time, I want all these people to have their asses flapping in the breeze for all of us to see, to point and laugh at, and to mock. Because they deserve it. I love drama. I used to be a devoted reader of Fandom Wank ("His 'wife'? A horse!") and still follow some drama-related communities online. And this season has brought that drama. But it's a type of drama that we've never really seen on Big Brother before - yes, I'm including BB15 in that because while the racism was vile, it wasn't a mob mentality like this season has been, and Evel Dick because he was nasty as fuck but still only one person - and it's not the fun kind where you get to point and laugh at someone showing their knickers. This is the type of drama that makes me angry and question whether I want to continue watching... and yet again, a whisper of a fight and I'm right there. So I dunno. Maybe it's me that's the problem. Because I always beg for the drama and the maximum amount of chaos and when I get it in the way we have this season, I'd prefer that we didn't get that type of drama and chaos. But none of this matters. Even though the DR got in some ears and it started to spread around, there was still this conversation between Christmas and Josh last night about how they may be perceived - once you get past the poor Paul bullshit, anyway - and hey, what a surprise, at the end they're already justifying themselves and their actions and telling themselves that despite the fact that we can see every single thing that led up to these confrontations and the confrontations themselves, people outside the house just won't understand that they're the ones being wronged in this situation, that they're just Standing Their Ground (I feel like that's going to be the catch phrase for the season, much like Vanessa's blood on my hands/bathing in blood in BB17 or Paulie's type thing from BB18). So what's the point? They're never gonna get it. And this is how the rest of the season is going to go. So in conclusion, fuck you Paul for making this season what it has become. If I were walking by and you were hanging off a cliff by the very skin of your fingertips, I'd still help you back up because I'm a decent human being but I'd honestly have to think about it for a moment or two. And maybe consider stepping on those fingertips. Hey, I said I was decent, I didn't say I was a fucking saint. ETA: OMG you guys. I apologize for the fucking novel I just typed. The good player takes all of this into consideration and operates with finesse. I completely agree with you. Paul is a really unpleasant head case. There is no doubt about it. There is no way I could call him a good player as you describe. Ruling through intimidation is his peculiar way of playing the game, and he's the only one IMO, actively invested in the game. The drama in the confrontations has been great. The issue with this season is that it is not any kind of even playing field. One side has such a huge advantage that even though the fights are entertaining to a certain extent, we know one side will have the last laugh. These arguments would be much better if they didn't have to end with Josh in Jessica's face saying he's evicting her with no possibility of it backfiring. I think it says it all in that nobody really wanted to like Cody/Jessica but they were at such a disadvantage that it was almost impossible not to root for them as underdogs. 3 Link to comment
Skycatcher August 16, 2017 Share August 16, 2017 (edited) That dance video of Raven is just pathetic. I am a big fan of CMT's "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team", an 8 or 10 episode series about becoming a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and the competition and training that they have to go through. Those ladies can dance! Raven wouldn't even make it in the front door, and if she did she'd never get through the 1st round of auditions. They wouldn't exactly laugh her out of the building - they are exceedingly polite. But there would be a few sly snickers, hidden smiles, and at-least one "Well bless her heart," I'm sure. Alex simply cannot contain her ecstatic glee at watching fights between others; drama is her drug, and she loves every hit. So of course Alex loves Josh. What junkie doesn't love their dealer? My take on the reason she loves fights is to constantly affirm her image as a tough chick. She creates a stage to show all that she is just one of the guys. 2 Link to comment

I think he's an idiot who will have his opinions formed by the last person to talk to him. I think it's an in between... he definitely has his opinions and if you get him talking enough he'll let you know what they are... but for the most part... in the moment his opinions are whatever someone else is saying. So it kind of depends on who he's talking to. 1 Link to comment

For no other reason than Elena would be too - overcautious? scared shitless? - to go at Paul head-on. Yeah, Elena would panic and do something silly. Christmas would go in that scenario, which wouldn't even weaken Paul all that much. Link to comment

I can see how Jason's behavior makes it easy to form that impression; every now and then, however, Jason will accidentally let an independent opinion escape. Of course Jason immediately walks it back at the first indication of disagreement, so it doesn't hang out there in the air too long - which is exactly why I don't think Jason has a hope in Akron of winning. He can't/won't take a contrary stand - ever. 3 Link to comment
