Maybe "Heart Still Beating," refers to one of the last lines in the song that Negan will make Coral perform with him at the evil biker karaoke bar. Because, obviously, Negan and Lucille's favorite song is "Bat Out of Hell."

"Get, it, boy? 'Cause Lucille's a bat! Baseball, that is. Get it? If, I say, if this boy were any slower, I say, his girlfriend would be making soup out of him. Turtle, that is..."

I see you're still in "FogHorn Leghorn" mode. I "swear", the only reason I'm still watching this show is because of this forum, where everyone is so much more talented and witty than any of the post-pubescent writers.

I'm the same way, almost every week. But as long as there's enough other people hate-watching to make it fun, I'm okay with that. I mean, the worst thing that we enable by indulging ourselves here is a poorly-written imaginary show, and I can live with that. And sometimes they even surprise us and knock one out of the park, with a " ha ha, screw you, this is how good we CAN write!" episode. But even at its worst, it's just a bad episode about fake zombies and really, really, really fake bikers. It's not like our snarkfests are encouraging "Michael Vick's Canine Survivor" or something. Shit, honestly, I think the worst thing that high TWD ratings can lead to is already out there. And it is an expensive spinoff that absolutely no one likes, so let that be a lesson to them!

I do believe, I say, I DO believe (now you've got me doing it!) the last time I was really impressed was with the Se03 opener, and no one said a word during it. Maybe silence is the way to go? Of course my memory is faulty and there could have other great moments, but I just can't recall them. I've never seen a minute of any spinoffs or watched a second of TTD. Forty minutes each week of TWD is plenty for me.

This reminds me of the last season of "Dexter", when getting online to mock and jeer at the horrific writing was way more fun than actually watching it.

So, I watched a few of the episodes in this weekends marathon and I still have no interest in watching any of this seasons shows, some of which I have managed 10 or 15 minutes of, but never a whole episode. My revelation from this? Rick is the lead, obviously, but at least for me, Glen was the heart of this show. It is not the same for me anymore. Maybe a comic book doesn't need that character, but a show that I watch every week does. Maybe the reason I never got into FTWD is that they have yet to have a character I actually cared about.  Now TWD had taken Glen away, I am tired of brooding Rick and brooding Daryl ( who I will not forgive for getting Glen killed) neither of which I care about any more, they are ruining Carol, Maggie is meh for me. And I hate Negan in every way imaginable. Not surprised at all that ratings are down.

I'm snarking and drinking my way through this until my husband finally decides he's had enough, which now he thinks might extend into the back half of the season after all even though he admits a lot of the show right now is tedious.  Because he's still intrigued by the idea of Negan and the Saviors if not exactly the execution.  So I much appreciate having people to grouse about this with in the meantime.

I miss Carol and never quite knowing which way she'll break.  I miss Daryl snarking and acting like a real boy.  I miss seeing our characters together and caring about each other to show me why it should even matter to me that these people have survived this far into the end of the world. Although he wasn't always my favorite, I miss Glenn too.  Unfortunately, I'm realizing that a lot of what I'm missing even predates the Negan problem.

Too right nodorothyparker! And what "humor" there is is WAY too reminiscent of actual reality we're living in right now! I knew, from reading the comic, that Negan was going to be really tough to deal with in the tv show. And then 2016 happened rendering Negan pretty much impossible to abide. PLUS what the fuck is he doing with his spine every scene? I mean it's like the actor decided to make Negan into mega-ultra-hyperviolent Fonzie or something. Ugh.

I was going to suggest a drinking game, in which one drinks a shot of whiskey every time Negan bends his knees and leans back. Upon reflection, I decided that would be very bad for one's liver.

Do you want us to get alcohol poisoning? I read that JDM saw that Negan did that all the time in the comics, so he decided to do the same.

Anyway, I'm drinking and typing right now. Don't know how much more booze I can take.

Even now, I don't hate the show -- I do hate Negan -- but...it disappoints me. Which makes me sad.

That said, I am almost pathologically loyal to the few shows I follow, so I'll probably be watching to the bitter end.

That's good to know because I was wondering if he was like that in real life.

I'll be drinking tonight, anyone else?

I read the live thread while messaging with my daughter. I have an 8 oz. tumbler poured of vodka with a spritz of seltzer. Later, I'll just let the seltzer go in one of the first 25 commercials. BTW, long time reader who finally needs to participate. I love the comic book Negan, I love JDM...BUT I hate this writing and pacing and he's not mind fu%&ing enough to be menancing...yet, I hope. Long time fans and hope to make new friends here!

Yet another 90 minute episode.  A 90-minute episode used to be reserved for something special but now it seems like every other episode is 90 minutes.  Gimple has lost all sense of proportion (if he ever had anything) and now, every episode has to be the BIGGEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!!!!  Fuckery.

Wait just a doggone minute. If we're supposed to spend the commercial breaks drinking, none of us will make it til the end. I really don't think I can possibly drink that much, not without ending up in the emergency room. Think about trying to explain that.

It seems not. I'm so conflicted. Usually I never connect TV characters with the real-life people - since I have no interest in what they do in their live -  but JDM has hit on my soft spot - namely, loving and caring about animals and not - like some men - being afraid to admit it. I really hate the character of Negan and find him totally annoying and tedious, but then think, "But, awww - the doggies!" I think I need therapy.

Looking forward to it. I think it will be coming together slowly as these guys start to get to know each and and come together over time to defeat Negan. I am a new watcher and only picked up the entire series about a year ago. I have watched each episode at least 4 times at this point (maybe more for the early seasons). Watching the the beginning episodes today, I was ok with Negan and it stands up well in my opinion, when binged in one long viewing. I know that other viewers feel differently about the series and perhaps that is due to being with it from the beginning, for me, I don't know where it will go and I am ok with that. It is sad to lose favorites, but how can they tell a story if no one from the core group ever dies? In the ZA that is not even possible at all. In reality, more should have died. I am sure that I am alone on this island, but, I really like JDM and the Negan character and, I am willing to go for the ride (I hate the violence of the head smashing, but I accept it). Hey, it is far better than Fear the Walking Dead!
