pezgirl7 November 12, 2016 Author Share November 12, 2016 (edited) Great acting in this episode! Geena Davis was awesome in the mental breakdown scene and the Marcus actor is so intense. Once again, Marcus is a pillar of strength, even when he's tormented. He has the strength of his convictions, and Tomas needs to start taking notes from him! Is he really waiting for a sign from God to tell him what to do? Uh, that's not how life works for most people. I loved seeing Bennet kick some ass! I thought for sure he was a goner, but then he busted out some moves and did an exorcism on the fly! Why the heck isn't he is helping to exorcise Casey? I think he was referring to the experience he had at the lake, when he told Thomas that he felt God move through his hands to resurrect Casey. He didn't want those same hands to, now, help to kill her. 5 Link to comment
TobinAlbers November 12, 2016 Share November 12, 2016 And it was fortuitous that just as he decided not to kill her was when Tomas brought Angela in which of course rallied the demon to surface. Marcus is right that you shouldn't give the demon what it wants, but it also seemed obvious that they were not going to be able to save Casey without Angela being a part of it. There was some pride in his trying to go it alone with saving Casey without bringing in her family. Yes Angela and Kat messed up in their own ways, but Angela is a part of this fight and I was so glad Tomas relented in the lie and brought her in. It may lead to tragedy but then it may also lead to some kind of victory as Angela and Marcus and Casey work together to defeat the demon. And Angela herself needs to get some peace from literally facing her demons. It was heartbreaking to hear her admit how she felt so dirty after her possession and that she would make sure Casey didn't feel that way once they got her back (Sharon Gless breaking down in that scene was pitch perfect in denoting how crushed she felt in realizing that Reagan felt fhis and she didn't know and that Angela believed she would get Casey back when there was a real possibility they wouldn't). And then the scene in the bathroom when Angela is spiraling and trying to tell them that she had held onto hope for Casey because she could feel her fighting and that she could feel that Casey is lost and a part of her was missing? Damn that was crushing. Neck breaking Father Bennett and gun toting Former Father Marcus are truly some badass holy warriors. Tomas needs to step up his game. Apparently the Exorcist Twitter confirmed during the live show tweet that with all those fresh cut up bodies Bennett saw more demons have indeed been summoned/raised. I love that they can talk about God with sincerity and then pull some tongue in cheekiness. 'I felt God working through my hands......or maybe it was hypothermia.' 7 Link to comment

SimoneS November 12, 2016 Share November 12, 2016 Bennett is a badass. No wonder he is the head of security. He must have been in the military as some point. I enjoyed him calling out the committee's obvious schemes to endanger the pope. I am glad that Marcus refused to kill Casey. It hurts me to see the corruption of Tomas. He is losing himself and this is probably part of the reason that the exorcism is not working. 6 hours ago, TobinAlbers said: I love that they can talk about God with sincerity and then pull some tongue in cheekiness. Door November 12, 2016 Share November 12, 2016 Father Bennett! I said aloud to myself as he walked into that warehouse, "I don't want him to die. I like his character!" Thus I was very happy that he turned God Warrior on the demons. However, I'm not sure if the look on his face after exorcising that demon was a dawning realization of how strong the dark forces are in Chicago or if the demon transferred into him. Father Tomas. He is so, so beautiful. And so, so weak. The demons must be partying in Hell knowing that HE is the one helping Father Marcus. I like him a lot as a character but he's at a place in his arc where I just want to slap him upside the head. I don't understand the Mother Superior. Now suddenly her convent mercy kills the possessed? I don't like that. Stellar acting by everyone this episode. Each episode draws me further and further in. Oh yeah... Also enjoyed the homage when we first see Casey's ravaged body to Anneliese Michel's infamous exorcism picture. 5 Link to comment
SimoneS November 12, 2016 Share November 12, 2016 (edited) I don't think that the demon transferred to Bennett If only because it seems like the demons have to weaken and/or corrupt their vessels before they can be possessed. Bennett like Marcus and the Mother Superior does not seem vulnerable or full of doubt like poor Casey and Tomas. Edited November 12, 2016 by SimoneS Link to comment

RedheadZombie November 12, 2016 Share November 12, 2016 I can't figure out Tomas and Jessica. It seems too obvious that she's bad, but he seems to have strengthened his faith somehow after being with her. He was badass when he grabbed "Casey" by the throat and gave the title of the episode. What he spoke was from John 8:44 - Quote New International Version You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Do Catholics use the New International Version? 19 hours ago, pezgirl7 said: Great acting in this episode! Geena Davis was awesome in the mental breakdown scene and the Marcus actor is so intense. He knows the church is compromised, the pope is in danger, and demons are being summoned. Since Casey's possession has to be tied into the pope, I'm going with this: Regan's former demon was strengthened by all of the demon summoning, and chose this time to strike at Regan/Angela through Casey. I'm still worried about Henry's behavior after the demon whispered in his ear. I wonder if that would possibly be dealt with if there is a second season. 17 hours ago, 7isBlue said: What a great episode! Agree with the kudos for Ben Daniels' and Geena Davis' acting. It looked to me that was what they're implying, but a man who has the conviction to exorcise a demon, should not be vulnerable to immediate possession. It happened to Father Karras, but he invited the demon in (before immediately killing himself) to free Regan of the demon. 1 hour ago, SimoneS said: I don't think that the demon transferred to Bennett If only because it seems like the demons have to weaken and/or corrupt their vessels before they can be possessed. But the movie/book involved two priests dying, so I will be surprised if all three priests live. My fear is it will be Marcus. He may pull a Father Karras. He seems too tormented for this world. This show is better than I thought it would be. I have found far too many horror shows and based on book or movie shows to be poorly constructed, acted, or written. This one is a must watch for me night of, as long as I am in town. I worry for what place Henry truly has in this narrative. I think it will not be good. Tired of Tomas. 4 Link to comment

It's also the traditional color of Mary. It was creepy when Casey sat up and gleefully called Angela "cow". In the book the demon enjoyed tormenting Regan by calling her that. He also referred to her as such when speaking to Father Karras. He even mimicked animal sounds, which was truly creepy. It would sound like a demented barn yard inside her room. 2 Link to comment

It is not "moody," it is bright not unlike a "splash" (purity? hope? faith? truth?). Again, while I am seeing some darker instances of blue elsewhere (maybe also deliberate for the moody effect you mention?) and also some muted pastels, what I am talking about now are bold, turquoisey blues--azure, as RedheadZombie's link noted above.
