So Dmitri shows up at the boxing match with just Ray by his side? Why wouldn't he want more protection? And he had just the driver waiting outside? After all the build up and the hoopla, it was like taking candy from a baby.

Just lost a big post. But I wanted to say I totally agree with you, Tvaddict. I was very happy when the episode ended. This finale was anticlimactic. Little energy and excitement, and none of the clever fast-paced strategizing of the kind we saw in the finales for Seasons one through three.

-I hope we are done with the mob. The Armenians followed by the Russians is enough. I want disorganized crime for a change. At least you get some range and variety of crime.

Right? LOL. What happened to the small army that Dmitri always seemed to have in tow?

I was a little shocked that Bunchy and Mickey kept firing. I suppose Mickey showed signs of bloodlust in Mexico. But he wasn't as emotionally invested here.

Why would the uncle need or want an entourage at the fight?  He had Ray.  He would not want anything obvious and both of them knew if Hector did not take a dive, Ray (and then Hector) were done.  Why track Ray down?  If the uncle trusted him on the bet, there was no reason for a crew.

I can't believe Mickey actually did the right thing with the painting and the "surprise" package.

If it was thst easy to take down the Russians why didn't Ray do it before now?

Guess we've seen the last of Bridget--for a while at least. She'll probably only show up during her holiday breaks if at all.

Sorry Liev didn't the Emny tonight. I was pulling for him.

Missed last week, so the early repeat was helpful. I'm going to echo those above that Ray could have taken the Russians out much sooner. I was also surprised by how often he bounced into and out of the FBI offices with relative freedom.

The good was Avi and Lena back. And Mickey not only doing the right thing, but actually.....you know....doing it right. Terry made good.

I was confused by all the half brother angst and what it meant if anything. The show might be setting him up to join Lena and Avi next season.

It all got tied up a little too neatly, but I still love Ray.  He and his work crew are why I'll be back.

Yeah all of a sudden, the Russian gang wasn't so formidable.  Hell Bunchy and Mickey could get high and still take them out.

OK, they beat first the Armenian mob and then the Russian mob.  If the Donovan family was that good, you'd think the Irish mob would still be a big thing.

But even with the mob problem eliminated, why would the FBI just let Ray off the hook?  They have his "files" -- I can't believe Ray kept incriminating evidence in his office.  The cops could have gotten a warrant to take those files at any time during the time covered by the series, if they suspected Ray kept that evidence so handy.

Ray said he was going to "do it his way" because he figured if he played the rat for the FBI, they'd throw him in prison anyways.  Well he handed them all the drugs and the art but he didn't hand them the Russian boss or his henchmen.  Instead, just a bunch of murdered gangsters that the FBI would have to explain even as they point to the drugs they confiscated in the press conference.

So that FBI guy, who used to be Ray's puppet, can still say you didn't give me exactly what I wanted so I'm throwing you in jail.  BTW, wouldn't Ray's files show evidence of cops like that FBI guy whom Ray owned?

I hope the show gets back to the idea of Ray just being a Hollywood fixer.  I enjoyed the fun shenanigans around town more than this mob crap.  I'd hoped the football team would be the new backdrop for Ray's fixer antics but that storyline took too long to develop and was dropped too quickly.

I was waiting for something to go awry after Mickey and Bunchy got high right before going in guns blazing, but I guess everyone just needs a little cocaine before they take out a few guys.

When Abby was telling Ray that she was right and they're untouchable, I was just waiting for someone, anyone, to do a driveby and shoot at them. I know the Russians were gone at that point, but hey, it's LA so pick a random gang to do it!

Buh-bye, Bridget! Here's hoping that Connor goes to visit her permanently next season so that we are rid of both of them.

I had a whole lot of problems with this episode, and I'm glad the season is over.  Did not buy anything about the mob double/triple/quadruple cross (plus the Eastern European/Russian mob angle has been done to death, no pun intended); did not buy Ray forgiving Sonia so easily, did not believe the drugs-in-the-painting angle at all.   I think that Bridget (bye bye) was conveying something with that weird look on her face when she was leaving Ray at the airport, but have no idea what it was supposed to be.  And I know that spontaneous remission does occur, but I don't believe Abby's cancer just vanished.  Most of all, I'm soooo tired of that worn-out cliche about families always sticking together no matter what kind of crap they have pulled on each other for the past 50 years.

I did love that Mickey finally did something right, and I thought the scene with Mickey and Bunchy's old-fashioned gangland style shooting of the mobsters was actually funny - whether it was meant to be or not.   And I was very happy to see Avi (and Dog) back in action - they need to give Avi and Lena more to do.  But all in all, time for this series to move on - either get better storylines or die a merciful death.

So I had all the problems everyone else already brought up and I just didn't buy into the Bridget getting in the NYU and basically having to leave the day after she found out for an orientation.  I wonder if she just waited until the last minute to decide and tell her parents or if she's lying or if it is a scheme that she and Abby cooked up.  I guess she came home from Pismo with Bunchy?

Yeah a couple of seasons ago, she was suppose to be this budding scholar, after being this tortured teen girl who saw her first love killed.  Then they get her into this private school and she struggles, ends up shacking up with Ken Cosgrove in Venice Beach or wherever, going around with a guitar busking for money after years of living in Calabazas luxury.

Then she's a whiz kid again and she gets into an exclusive private school?

What's next, Connah going to go to Oxford next season?

Yay for Avi, I was glad he got to be the trigger man.  Honorable mention to Mickey and Bunchy.  At least Sonia  went out with a bang, beats withering away from cancer.   So long, Bridget, you won't be missed.  Happy for Terry.  Another mighty mob falls to the Donovans.  Maybe next season they take down ISIS.

Abby said her cancer is 'going away'.  What's with that?  I don't follow the show religiously but my husband is a huge fan so I watch it when he does. I know she was supposed to have breast cancer and didn't want to lose her breasts, but why is she saying that the cancer is going away?  Is this going to be a sub-plot next season? Anyway I enjoyed the piano music in the scene as they were killing the Russians one by one. My friend Marcelo Zavros does the music for this series and I'm pretty sure that was his original piece.

I wish someone would do a body count of all the people the Donovan's collectively murdered this past season--we have to be in the double digits by now.

Someone needs to warn that cop that Terry is dating who the in-laws might be.

Gee, that was easy. I'm surprised that Ray didn't figure out sooner that all he had to do was kill the Russians. I'm sure  the "very powerful people in Moscow" who were upset about Belikoff won't be bothered by this turn of events.

I was expecting Terry to die or be hospitalized, after seeing his collapse last episode; guess they're saving that for next season.

And Abby's cancer is completely gone. How about  that?

I think Abby was lying about the cancer.

I also think just killing all of the Russian mob would be something Ray wanted to avoid. They kept cranking it up so he finally ended it.

The FBI guy agreed to leave Ray alone ages ago so raiding his office was a last resort to force Ray to cooperate. As usual, Ray did it his way.

The FBI still gets credit for ending the problem.

Not sure whether the events below happened more than 5 minutes before the end atlantaloves, so you may have seen some of this already. Here's how I remember the wrap up- could have missed or misunderstood some of it.

Avi shoots Dmitri in his car  (the driver's probably been shot as well). Daryll plants packages of dope in the trunk. They leave the car doors open and walk away- it'll look like the men were killed for the drugs- as part of a general round up of the mob. I guess.

Mickey and Bunchy go to Dmitri's den and open fire on the two unsuspecting henchmen who come out of the house. They keep firing, so presumably they get everyone in that house.

I was confused about this next sequence. Ray & Lena handle another one of Dmitri's henchmen at the gallery. He's the guy who was at the boxing arena- in that scene he waited outside & escorted Dmitri to the car (not realizing Avi & Daryll waiting for Dmitri in the car). Now he walks up to  the gallery where Ray is waiting & pulls a gun on him, but Lena sneaks up behind & puts her gun to his head.  They walk him into the gallery where Ray bludgeons him to death with the baseball bat. Very grisly. He must have done something terrible to get such a hideous end. (I assume he died because no one called an ambulance.) Lena stages the gallery as though it had been robbed - opening the backs of the paintings and scattering the drugs on the floor. Ray calls Frank, who comes in to make it all official- Ray tells him he'll get the credit for the bust up. I hope he gets off Ray's back after this.

Ray runs into Hector outside the gym & doesn't appear too charmed at Hector's thanks/explanations/apologies/promises. Hector asks if he and Ray are good, and Ray answers that neither of them will ever be good. Ray tells Hector he will contact Hector when he needs to call in the favor. Emphasizing that their earlier close relationship is dead.  Abby comes out to meet Ray and tells him she knew things would turn out well.

They go upstairs to the gym where a party celebrating Hector's win is in full swing. We get a 2-second obligatory shot of Conor. Abby gets out on the floor to dance. Ray watches as his family celebrates.

Qn: I forgot what the guy who got bludgeoned did in earlier episodes- why did he deserve this brutal an end?

nyxy - The guy who was bludgeoned was the  one brought in to take over running the art gallery. Presumably, he was the one who killed Sonya, hence his brutal demise.

So Bridget is mature enough to leave home and go to school all the way in New York?  Yeah, she's made some great decisions as a young adult.  Her, alone, New York City.  Great combination.

Don't be surprised to see the Armenian mob return and go after the family. Remember the old bag saying "this isn't over" ? Remember that the Armenians sent one of their goons to kill Mickey in jail, but he luckily got out just in time. I can see them returning, big time.

I guess since Abby apparently had "stage zero" (??????) breast cancer (not too severe?), it makes it easier to take that it just cleared up.

It would be nice to have a season with Conor away. I don't mind Bridget. They should bring back her friend Janet (the actress that plays her is stunningly beautiful!).
