I think that commercial is repulsive. Again objectifying women

I said something on another thread about finding the commercial problematic and was questioned why I thought so.  I guess we still have a long way to go, but as the mother of three daughters I'm depressed and even appalled that people don't see anything wrong.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is doing quite well.

And let's not forget Barbie. Its promotions were everywhere!

There are always exceptions.

I find absolutely nothing problematic about that commercial.  The women are identifying a scent which apparently they find appealing.  Nothing particularly sexual is going on in it.  It's not like any of the women are scantily clad or in compromising positions of any sort.  Yes, they're blindfolded but that in and of itself is not an issue to me.

Add me to the group sick of that damn Wicked Target ad. I saw it on Broadway years ago, bought the cast recording, but I feel no real compulsion to see the film. That commercial makes me even less inclined because I’m sick of hearing that song. (And the fan art drama doesn’t help.)

I have mixed feelings about the Roku TV commercial with the couple screaming at each other. Obnoxious as hell. But yesterday I saw another version and have to admit, I chuckled when the woman bellowed “EVERY DAY WITH YOU IS A GIFT!” Now that the surprise has passed, I’ll go back to hating.

There's a new refrigerated dog food commercial in which a guy gets kicked out after commenting that it's weird to keep the dog food in the garage fridge.

One that i really hate right now is the one with Oprah yelling about her favorite things which is going to be shown on Good Morning America.

Girl, you gave us Dr Phil and Dr Oz, so just go sit down.

Among others...

Take your faux-yelling gimmick elsewhere.

That commercial is a year old. It was the first one in the Fresh Pet line (also guy throwing out his Donner date and woman throwing out her sister on a camping trip).

I think this is a newer one. In this one, the dog owner is black and his friend is there to watch a football game.

According to FreshPet's YouTube channel, the commercials were released in this order:

Dinner Date
In-Laws
Gameday (football version)
Gameday (basketball version)
Work From Anywhere

And then the Meghan Trainor one that isn't part of the above series, where the owner throws someone out.

That's the order I saw them in.  My favorite is the woman in the in-laws commercial, who tells her dog "You're lucky you're single".

OK, that jives with what I've seen. I don't think I ever saw the basketball version and I do not recognize the last one.

They brought back that horrible tax commercial with the guy saying his problem is he hadn't paid his taxes in 8 years. I don't know why they made the commercial to begin with let along bring it back. Do they expect us to feel sorry for him? It's his fault the IRS is after him and I'm completely fine with that. I hope they get every cent and throw his ass in jail. I don't want him to get help or a reduction in how much he owes. The rest of us paid our taxes.  He should have paid his.

I hate all those Fresh Pet commercials.  Not because it has to be refrigerated but because it IS freaking dog food.

Yep, that one was shown during football season last year.

I don't watch football so it was relatively new to me when I started to see it this year.

I hate them because in most cases, the pet owner is overacting.

I have one cat, a spoon full of food from a can for each feeding then I put a cap on the can and store the uneaten portion in the fridge, it is contained, nothing spills out or smells. I have a little shelf in the door in a door thing on the fridge, I am not going to throw out the uneaten portion of kitty's expensive prescription food because someone might think it's odd.

But do you tell people it's not cat food?  Because that's what the idiots in those commercials are doing - saying that it's not dog food when it very clearly is.

agreed

and the other one where they reduced what he owes so much that he could take the family on a big vacation.  so i pay what i owe so can't take a vacation but he doesn't and gets rewarded for it? nah, not liking that

In the early 70s, I wrote a letter to Folgers to complain about a commercial I found misogynistic. I got a letter back, saying the focus groups they ran it by did not find it offensive. Therefore, I assume all the commercials we see have been tested with focus groups, but the ones tossing out friends and relatives over pet food in the fridge (I think they're funny), wouldn't seem to fly based on comments here. 🤷‍♀️

Lol, was it the "Bill never has a second cup of coffee at home"?

No. It was a woman whose male partner told her the coffee was decaffeinated. The woman says - de- what? Poor little woman couldn't handle those big words! Still makes me angry.

The ring around the collar was the one that always got me. Somebody would say something like "Eww Bob, you have ring around the collar!" and everyone would look accusingly at his wife. My mom used to shout "Maybe Bob should do his own laundry!"

I know this is so last week, but I was watching a Duke game on ESPN Monday and they were showing ads for people up for election in North Carolina.  I was watching in Syracuse New York.  WTF?

My newest hate is the bitchy mom in the Verizon ad who apparently forgot her husband’s birthday, and gets all shitty about the husband enjoying what his daughters gave him, so she makes a video on her iPhone.  The look she gives the camera at the end makes me want to smack her.  Competing with your kids?  When you forgot?  Loser.

I was under the impression they got into an argument about putting cat food in a fridge which contains human food.

I'm in California & keep seeing an ad for a church in Detroit. Maybe it was an election ad but I don't pay enough attention to say for sure but it does say to visit them at the end.

Yeah, I find the people freaking out about dog food being in the refrigerator the more annoying half of the equation in these commercials (especially that horrid snot in the Dinner Date installment), but the company going with the ridiculous "It's not dog food, it's FreshPet" slogan makes the dog owners absolute morons.  Normal people, upon being confronted with someone being rude enough to question why dog food is in the refrigerator, would say something along the lines of "Because it's made with fresh ingredients that will spoil unless kept refrigerated, just like our food" (or, you know, "Why the hell do you care what's in my refrigerator?").  Not say "It's not dog food."  Of course it's dog food!  FreshPet is a brand.  A descriptive one, but it's just a brand.  It's still dog food.

(When I've fed raw cat food, that has to be kept frozen until it's time to thaw and eat.  If someone had picked up the bag and asked why there was cat food in the freezer [which has never happened, as I don't let stupid people in my house], I would have responded along the lines of the above, not "It's not cat food, it's Nature's Variety".  Of course it's cat food; I'm sure as hell not going to eat it.)

I have a FB friend that moved from Virginia to a small town in Mexico. She makes her own raw cat food and says the aging cat is acting like a kitten again. She's astoundingly healthy!  But Trish didn't say if she freezes the batches she makes for Futbol.

Geico brought back the Caveman he's still annoying. Progressive needs to retire the Dr. Rick ads. He was funny at first now he's rude who cares if people want to talk about the weather?

I don't mind the weather ones, myself, 'cause, as I said in the "favorite commercials" thread, I find them WAY too relatable :p.

But yeah, seeing the Geico cavemen coming back is a wild blast from the past.

With the Fresh Pet commercials I think the implication is that the rude people questioning having dog food (yes, dog food) in the fridge don't like dogs.  I mean, would any pet owner freak out over seeing someone's dog's food in the fridge?  Clearly these people who are grossed out don't like dogs.  As such they deserve to be tossed out. 😄
