It was too little too late for me...She should have been in Salem a long time ago, where was she when Arianna died or when Gabi was pregnant with Arianna or involved with a crazy Nick...How about when Gaby was living with Wilson and raising Arianna...how would she have reacted to her granddaughter Gay fathers? Alma Delfina is a good actress and I will miss her...

So, I was poking around the soapcentral site after reading buffynut's story, and came across an August interview with Ken Corday on the "dismal state" of Days. I hadn't read it before and was surprised to learn that not only did he know the show was in trouble way back in January, but he knew exactly why it was in trouble.  And yet he did nothing about it.  This part was also interesting:

Quote

Ultimately, even the actors were pushed to their limits with what Corday describes as “daily” complaints and concerns, “to the point of having to finally close my door and say, ‘I'll come over [to the studio] when there's something to talk about,' because I was waiting this out. It was very tough. It was an endurance test for all of us.”

What an idiot.

I know, right?  He was the only one with the power to change things.  But instead of doing something productive he stuck his fingers in his ears and chanted la-la-la whenever anyone came to him with their valid concerns.  And he takes zero responsibility for just how far and how quickly his show has fallen.  I don't understand his apathy at all and feel bad for anyone having to work under such a moron.

Why? So she can cheat on Shawn again?

Remember production fucked up not telling the writers about their contracts.   Brandon already signed on for 13 more weeks.   Dont know about Martha,  one could assume the same.   Personally they need to keep them on as full time.   I'm really liking the idea that Chad and Belle might actually go there.

From Jason

Quote

Sal Stowers,  who played Lani,  will be returning to Days.   She was seen in the 13000th episode party pictures.

There is a rumor also going around that Summer is coming back. ???

Here it comes - Higleyvision!

When Higley took her time off from February to August,  a lot of the stories and characters she wanted to write for got put on hold.   Characters like Lani and Summer that didn't work was shelved.   Now that Belle and Shawn are back for another 13 wks,  I can see Higgles turning that in a triangle because she just doesn't get Shelle at all.   Plus Abe and Valerie will be together again so Lani and Theo will play roles in that.

false alarm - Jason hasn't confirmed the summer rumor, so let's hope she never returns

I'm actually incredibly curious to see Austin and Carrie back.  To see them without Sami, their main obstacle, for the last twenty five years will be interesting.  What will their story be?  Will they insert Rafe back into their lives?  Carrie and Hope have always had a close relationship they can't possibly put them back into a triangle or quadrangle with Austin and Rafe.  Will Abby be involved?

I actually would prefer to see them a happily married couple with their daughter and whatever they get into in Salem hopefully has nothing to do with romance.  Seeing them as a solid unit would be a nice change of pace.

I still remember when Carrie was planning on dumping Austin for Rafe but then decided to stay with him because she got pregnant. How romantic. I bet that won't be addressed.

Despite the fact that this was a plot point to get them off the show in a hurry I never really minded it.  Picking a family with your husband over an exaggerated infatuation with a great guy that you barely know isn't necessarily a wrong choice.  Especially once Carrie found out that nothing happened with Austin and Abigail.  It kind of took the wind out of the sails of her romance with Rafe.  Also there is a small part of me that thinks even though Carrie had had it with Sami at that point and for the first time in 20 years really didn't give a damn about her, she would of never ended up with Rafe anyway.  I think Carrie got a lot of satisfaction from her closeness with Rafe, but it was all on borrowed time.

I love Caroline Anna Brady Reed, always have and always will..She will be involved with her mother Anna....Finally, the Anna/ Carrie relationship will be explored...Add Tony and I will be very happy...The last time that Carrie had a story without Sami or Austin was when Sami and Eric were kids and she was kidnapped by Stefano to lure Rojohn to the island...I loved that storyline because Rojohn finally let Marlena go to fully move on with Diana...

It never bothered me that Carrie went after Rafe..After all of the stunts that Sami pulled on her for no reason, out of pure spite and evilness..I look at Kim and Kayla and their father Shawn...Kayla had every reason to hate Kim for being their father's favorite, he used to call kim " the best and the brightest" she never did anything untoward to Kim...NEVER...Shayla was horrible and out of character because Kayla and Shane would never hurt Kim that way....I will never understand why the writers did that.....

I wonder how long their limited run will be?  A week, a month, three months?  It's hard to feel much about veterans coming back if it's only going to be a couple of episodes.  That said, I only ever liked Carrie when she was slapping Abigail.  Her and Rafe were beyond boring and her self-righteousness the last time around was quite off-putting.  But since Sami isn't around for her to act superior to this time, maybe her character will be more appealing to me.  I'm also curious about Peck's version of Austin - I've only ever seen Muldoon in the role.

As long as Carrie has a story with her mother Anna, Tony and the Bradys, I will be happy...As far as Austin is concerned, I like both actors that have played Austin, I like Patrick Muldoon better, just because he was the Austin that was there, when Deborah Adair played Kate..I loved the scene where he was telling a disbelieving Kate that he and Billie were her children.....Kate's reaction was just so good and Deborah gave it all in that scene...Austin was a better character, when Sheri Anderson wrote for him, he had a brain and a personality..Everybody was better under Sheri period....

Does Sheri Anderson not work as a writer anymore?

Not for Days No....Fans are constantly asking her to come back to Days on tweeter..She has said that for her to come back, she would have to have the freedom and the budget to write......She has hinted at behind the scenes politics as well...

That the behind the scenes politics are a bit toxic doesn't surprise me at all.  I've often wondered if that's why this show has trouble keeping younger actors who aren't accustomed to working in such conditions, and why some actors (Kate Mansi, Shawn Christian) are propped and pushed to the forefront no matter the writing regime, while other, better actors are largely ignored (James Reynolds), put into shitty stories (Mary Beth Evans), or killed off despite being fan favorites (Matt Ashford).

Corday comes across as a person who takes all kinds of credit when the show is doing well, but none of the blame when it's not ... and that type of management style filters down to others, making the whole system backwards and wrong.

You pegged that idiot Ken Corday for the incompetent fool that he is.....The show was never like this, until he got in charge after his parents' death and hired incompetent writers that butchered the show for years...He has ruined his parents' legacy....He knew for a year in advance that the actors who play Sami and EJ were leaving  , since the show tapes 6 months in advance, that is one year and a half..He had no contingency plan to phase them out slowly, while bringing other characters to the forefront....He thought that they would change their minds and stay, it is why both Sami and EJ got awful exits...What a dumbass!

I don't know how I'm going to deal with having Carrie, Failure, Kate, Belle, Prictor, Julie, Jen, Hope, Rafe and Ciara on the show at the same time. And if they all end up in the same episode together the overwhelming  awfulness might cause my tv to explode.

Wait you didn't add Sparkle.

Don't forget Joey and Higlemonster's next attempt to shove her beloved shitcan character Ava down our collective throats.

Aw, they couldn't get Patrick Muldoon back?  By far, he's the better Austin.

This sounds really bitchy, but Patrick Muldoon aged really, really bad.  Then again, though he might look better, Austin Peck is a moron. Oh my god, I met him once and he just oozed with vapid stupidity.

Although more likely, Patrick's actually got a pretty thriving TV-movie-on-obscure-channels-like-ION career going on. His IMDB is pretty full with that fare. It's not Shakespeare but the man is indeed working.

Doesn't he just?  If the man kept his mouth shut off set I probably wouldn't mind him resuming the role but DAMN he's an obnoxious idiot.

I always preferred Austin Peck's version -- his Austin was a bit of an idiot, sure, but at least there was a character there.  Patrick Muldoon's Austin, for me, was devoid of personality.  And besides, with Austin Peck we get his "forehead of thought"!  Remember his hilarious blog back in the day?  It was hysterical!
