Stephanie gets mentioned from time to time. Considering Lucas and Jennifer are his kids, they never mention Bill.

But why would they. Bill essentially had his parents and the rest of his family raised Jennifer so he worked as a doctor overseas. As for Lucas, he was the offspring of an affair had with Kate while his wife was locked away in a mental institution. Lucas didn't find out the truth about his father until his late teens and had as many interactions as he has with father as he did with growing up, barely none.

Actually Bill's affair with Kate sent Laura to the loony bin.  It was the straw that broke the camel's back. Laura had had mental issues for years.  Bill also raped Laura.  Bill was also Mike's father. He was believed to be Mickey's for years, but, it was revealed that Mickey was sterile and could not be his dad. Mike has never accepted Bill, as his dad, since he was a grown ass man, when he found out. That is so realistic. Usually, soaps, have people abandoning their parents to bond with their biological parents.   If I were to find out my dad was not my biological dad, it would not change anything.

Okay, I'm about to be petty--that is such an awful picture of Mansi, especially next to a beautifully smiling Marci Miller.  And yes, the character of Summer never caught on--if the show wanted to bring back one of Maggie's children, they should have gone with the kids Maggie already has.

Yes.  Ok, I can see him as Rex and the idea even excites me.  I have always loved the character of Rex and his relationship with Kate.  I do hope that Eric Winters is doing ok, I know that he has had some serious health issues in the last few years, so if he isn't coming back as Rex I hope that he is doing ok.

Apparently not.  That is who Marie Wilson should of been playing.  Sarah was an established character, but also gone off the show long enough to play with her characterization.

They also forgot Andrew Donovan, Noelle Curtis, who is Sarah's biological half-sister via Neil Curtis.. I have given up on ever seeing Alexander Neil Kiriakis. Anjelica's needless death closed that door forever.

Kyle Lowder? I guess he could be paired with Nadia Bjorlin?! I don't think there is a need for him since they are so heavy with actors in his age range to begin with. Also, if you have Greg Vaughn do you really need another guy? LOL!!!

I was thinking the same regarding reuniting him with Nadia, but I like her with Lucas now and I don't think she needs to be paired with another one of Kate's sons. 

I do hope we get "friend" scenes of them together as Rex and Chloe.

Chloe is paired with the wrong son of Kate. It should be Philip. But he is not on the show right now. More's the pity.

and, was it a part created just for him or were other actors auditioning? I'm guessing Ken Corday or Ron Carlivati requested him for the mystery part. We won't know for another 6 months. Damn! I hate the DOOL taping schedule. LOL!!!

He is a recast of Rex.  A superfluous character, in my opinion.   I would rather have Stefanie back..

I also think it is a very short-term role, so not much is going to happen. It has been over 11-12 years since the character left and he may have been mentioned or referred to less than a handful of times.

I hope you are right. I am happy that the Rex fans are happy, but, I don't really care for retcon children on this show. There are enough legacy children that were born on this show that could be brought back to build the show's future.. Andrew, Noelle, Sarah, Alex Kiriakis, Joseph Kiriakis, Victor Kiriakis Jr. Stefanie, Steven Hawke who is Benjy's son could all come back and have interesting stories..

I know what you mean.  I do always feel a lot of the legacy children do get shafted.  With that said I am a fan of the Rex character.  Or I should say I'm a fan of Rex in the Rex and Kate mother/son dynamic.  At the time I just remember being so impressed with the way their relationship unfolded.  It was also a nice departure story wise to see a child be enthralled with their birth mother.

As far as retcon children go, at least this one made sense.  Rex and Cassie were test tube babies conceived during the period that Stefano had access to Roman, Marlena, and Kate.  It tied in nicely with all of their histories, even down to Marlena being the unwilling surrogate.

Dude, are you forgetting about how Chandler tried to leave the show gracefully for college, giving them a good amount of months in advance, and then the show turned around and recast Will with Guy Wilson almost immediately? It was ridiculous that they had Guy playing out the WilSon wedding scenes when Chandler had been willing to finish out the rest of his contract.

They were my favorite part of the Last Blast Chance Dance crew. (Even though Brady wasn't in high school with them.) I fucking LOVED them singing "Sixteen Going on 17". I totally shipped them.

I'm glad to see Kyle Lowder, but Rex? Seriously? Rex? I'm pretty sure I'm good with pretending that storyline never happened.

I hated it for many reasons. I felt that Marlena's missing years should have been more than her being used, as a surrogate. Stefano violated her body. That was gross.  She was in a coma and unable to give consent.  I wished Sherry had written her missing years, since she was the one that wrote her original death.  She gave hints about what happened to Marlena, during the pit storyline. Plus, Marlena was pregnant, when she "died". The show was hinting that she was pregnant with Rojohn's baby.  Stefano raising their child as a Dimera would have been the ultimate revenge on them.  Missed opportunity. 

Making Rex and Cassie the children of Roman and Kate was the beginning of the end for them, especially Cassie. Plus, Cassie and Lucas were hot together.  Lucas has only had that type of chemistry with Sami. I thought his chemistry with Cassie was combustible.  It was stupid and short-sighted to make them siblings.  Sami having serious competition for Lucas' affections would have been a hoot.  Cassie was no pushover like Carrie. She would have been able to counter Sami's schemes. 

Rex and Cassie could have been Orpheus children who Marlena was forced to raise, when he held her captive. They could have come back to town to take revenge on Jarlena and their large brood.  Rojohn did kill their father, Orpheus.  If John had remained Roman, that also meant that he killed their mother, as well. 

Rex and Cassie could have also been part of the embryos that Vivian had stolen from Kate and Victor, when she stole Philip.  Perhaps, she implanted them in a surrogate and kept those children, for having lost Philip to Kate.  It would have been the ultimate revenge on Kate and Victor.  Plus, you have the shared history of both Victor and Kate, being deprived, yet again, of raising a son and a daughter.

This is the first time I've read this thread since September, but with my increasing lack of interest in the show, summer weather coming, AND accidentally seeing that Kate Mansi is returning, I needed to find out if there's more bad news I should know about.  And, apparently, there is.  ?

Stephen Nichols may be gone!?!?  ?

Kristen has been RECAST ?!?!?!  ?

Mimi is coming back?  ? I didn't dislike her, but she's not on my wishlist of returns.

Kyle Lowder (my favourite Brady) is coming on as a different character ?

There may have been more, but seriously, Kate Mansi is coming back!!!!  ? Even short-term isn't short enough. I hated her Abigail, and am disappointed that Marci didn't stay to complete the character's storyline.

I haven't, yet, read the spoiler thread, but I may have to start reading them again, because although it's fun/entertaining having "surprises", I think I don't want to be surprised with some of the casting decisions.

She got Neil passed out drunk and took pictures of them together in bed to make it look like he slept with her too. She sold the pictures to a tabloid. Mickey found out and was pissed at Neil. Maggie and Neil had to come clean that Neil was Sarah's biological father which messed up Sarah even more. Eventually Sarah left town to live with Melissa.  Sarah, Hope, Melissa and Jennifer were very close.

So does this mean that Sarah staged photos of her in bed with her own father?  Albeit unknowingly...that is creepy.

Yes, she did do that.  She did not know that Neil was her biological dad.  Her scheme forced Maggie to tell her the truth.  The Hortons are a crazy bunch, it is why their self-righteousness is off-putting...

I like the idea of Sarah coming back, but putting her with Eric sounds a little to pat for me.  I don't read spoilers so no idea if Jennifer and Eric are in it for the long haul but the idea of Sarah coming back and the first thing she does is get with her cousins ex, seems a little much. 

The show really does need more men in the late 30's/early 40's age range. Preferably ones that aren't related to half of Salem.

In my defense, I was a 15-year old little gay boy obsessed with musicals when that scene aired. It was everything I wanted and more. (Well, Brady romancing a dude would have been more my speed, but that wasn't happening on circa 2001 Days. I had to settle for reading Days slashfic.)

I don't have the hatred for Kate Mansi that a lot of people seem to have, but man did she never look like she could be Jack and Jennifer's daughter, even when they bleached her hair. I hope it's a short stay as well.
