I liked Joy's jab at Paula and Candace at the beginning. "I've learned so much about marriage from you two..." Candace is insufferable. I was giving her a chance, but all I feel is pissed off when I see her. I hope she's cut eventually. Besides, aren't she and Paula too similar to waste two spots on? They're both white, conservative Christians in their 40's with a basketful of children each. Paula has the edge for her experience. Mario, you're too good to be rolling around on the floor with food and Raven. Have some dignity, man. He's a fill-in chat contributer to Meredith's show often and is really charming and insightful.. tenativelyyours February 15, 2016 Share February 15, 2016 I'm looking forward to the mess that will be tomorrow's show if Paula and CCB try to argue the Thurmond Rule in regards to replacing Scalia. Hopefully Joy made sure to have a copy of the Second Article on hand if and when it comes up. Actually I am hoping that Joy does a little more than that since a quick Google search shows that even the inception of the so-called rule actually was not the real reason that Fortas was withdrawn but over the matter of speaking fees and a relationship with Johnson as an Associate Justice that was deemed inappropriate for the highest bench. Even if Joy doesn't do her job (quelle surprise!), I'm sure Paula and CCB will provide plenty of talking point lies and hypocrisy. A slightly late President's day present to open over a late morning cup of coffee. Elevenses and Asininity. Though I wonder what direction CCB will take since she seems to take her talking points without an ounce of awareness or even knowledge. Maybe it will be she doesn't think a President who can't get upset about Paris shouldn't nominate a Supreme Court Judge? She actually does seem dumb enough to say in her best Hasselbeck imitation "but what about Paris?". 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/38717-the-view-week-of-021516/#findComment-1961753

On one hand I agree with you. But on the other both in the case of President Obama's speech in response to the Paris Murder Attacks and his State of the Union, Paula and especially CCB seemed just as tapped into the whole controlled spin of Conservative Talking points. Maybe the two just show up at the studio and spend time over a cup of coffee with Fox News and it seeps into the vast cracks in their gray matter. But their lips dribble in such exact tandem, the same half truths and righteous claims, I see on Fox that I tend to suspect at least CCB follows through social media one of the core conservatives that determine the pitch, tone and sometimes way too overly focused points of outrage. I suspect the talking points of lame-duck and 'end of his term in office' almost have to come up from one or both because that is the latest meme and conservative memes go strong even well beyond their sell by date. By the way. Did you hear there is a war on Christmas and the liberals want to prevent you from worshiping Jesus and Obama wants to take your guns away? I expect you are right that CCB will give us the talking points, Paula doesn't quite do that as much, she has to maintain some semblance of "journalistic integrity" though she goes hard on pushing the GOP candidates. I don't spend too much tim watching Fox but I do like to know what the crazies are up to so when they have the power to put it into law I'm not left weeping in a corner curled in the fetal position. There is a live streaming channel I get when I travel overseas through a co-worker that I think is some sort of beta version of periscope? But it is a half hour analysis from some Oxbridge journalist professors who mockingly break down the news day according to Rupert Murdoch. So between Trevor Noah, John Oliver, those funny blokes online and now Samantha Bee I can watch a little and end up with a big enough picture. I usually go for Bill Hemmer as he is at least nice on the eyes and he seems to have this glimmer of knowing he sold his soul for the crap he them talks and shows clips of the more shrill panel shows. Shepherd Smith was good fun when my schedule permitted watching him since he would just completely snap and go so far off script it seemed incredibly insane. Or the sharpest most honest point of clarity. Or both. If you have not seen Samantha Bee her premiere show address Rubio in his idiocy and how full term abortions are actually called Cesarean Sections. CCB tends to be more The Five or the primetime Fringe Element Entertainment block in her talking points than the so called unbiased straight news. But Paula has more than once parroted the same false equivalency questions or the Gretchen Carlson 'why are people talking about...." when Gretchen and the people on Fox are the only ones talking about 'it' so far. and by parroted i mean just that. Word tone etc. in her effort to mitigate the crap out of Trump and some of the others. Almost always Trump. And it stood out to me because for the most part Fox hates Trump. But they still air his soundbites that fit the fringe memes. I wish the show had a question and answer period regularly because then I might go just to ask Paula that since she seems to have such a "good" handle on Trump (I think I could get that out sincerely enough without choking), what does she think about all that heavy media coverage he had trying to keep the Birther aspect alive and well in 2012 and claimed to have all those stunning facts that simply never got disclosed? What does she think about a man now throwing another candidate under the bus in terms of birth and yet never came forward with all the things he has said he had? Or how about why she thinks a man who claims to have the immediate solutions to ISIS but says we have to elect him to find out what they are? How comfortable is she with someone who wants to be President at the cost of the welfare of the very nation he wants to lead. And is trying to commit an odd Walter Mitty type form of extortion. Okay I just made myself giggle at how long any single one of those women would last if the producer decided to have a open audience question and answer session based on the Hot Topics. So much shit would be lost the EPA would have to shut the studio down and see if NYC would allow a special zoning to open it as a mushroom farm. Instead of hearing conspiracy theories and non family members wanting answers and all that, maybe let the family deal with this first. That's what I think Whoopi was trying to get across, but Paula and company were acting like the seagulls from Finding Nemo. NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW. Just ridiculous. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/38717-the-view-week-of-021516/#findComment-1964740
tenativelyyours February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 (edited) ABC was spotty all this morning thanks to the ice storm I suspect. I am glad they brought up Scalia's death. Now maybe we will get answers. I want to know why a man only 79 years old and, while not obese, certainly rather overweight for his frame died. That simply does not happen. Ever. It has to be a conspiracy. Has to be. Did anyone mention the fact that many states require an autopsy if there is no cause of death or an attending physician at the time of death? Did anyone mention that autopsies are not only done as soon as possible but that it also would be done (if required by law even if the family waived it) as soon as possible so his body can rest in state in Washington D.C. These women put the stupid in stupid. ETA: The thing about the pillow. I once saw someone drop dead of a massive heart attack. It was stunning and shocking and I did not even know the person and I was weeping by the end. The body can fall over or simply give a sigh but it can also leap and thrash in that last second and I have no problem thinking that if he slept with a pillow on the bed beside him it could end up on his face. And do they really think someone would be able to murder a hated in some parts Supreme Court Justice and leave the pillow over his face? Really? I really wonder what Whoopi is like on the set of a movie or tv show. She really does not play well with others at all. I mean I get that sitting and having to listen to and engage with this clusterfuck of a brain trust would be trying. Is it really so hard to not like Taylor Swift, consider that Kanye's interruption those years back did help put her on the map and still consider Kanye West a raving egotistical deluded bullying asshole? What is with this idea with these women it is either/or? That there has to be a side. I get not liking Taylor Swift. I did not like her when she was considered the new big thing and I bought tickets for my sister and had to listen to her sing live. It was one of the worst performances I have ever had to sit through. But so what? That does not in any way define what West does in terms of it being 'okay'. And what does his mother's death have to do with anything. He was a grown ass man when she died. Yes it was horrible. And it was also a thing we call life. I am a strong believer that grief is for life. I like when someone says that they "love" the person who has died versus saying they loved them. And I hate the "you'll get over it eventually'. Hate. Because I don't think you do 'get over it'. You simply learn to live with it. Adjust. And learn to balance the grief and loss with the memories and knowledge that no matter how short, what you had mattered. And always will. To use it as a means to perpetuate a sad and mean existence as I feel West has lived for some time is nothing more than a cloak to pretend it is somehow okay for him to be an asshole. Does he fall back on that after being called out? Or is it some odd thing that people like these two use to mitigate their own little high school like feud approach to life and their subjective tastes on celebrities? Medicine Crow February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 I am always reluctant to say that I agree with Whoopie, but, I do agree about giving Scalia's family some time. After all, some others on the panel are giving Kanye over 9 years to act out over his mother's death. I also hate to dispel any conspiracy theories but I sometimes sleep with a pillow over my head. Something I started in college to block out my roommates noise. The pillow over his face contradicts the initial report by the "Ranch Manager" who said his body was found "in full repose" which, to me, means he was in bed like he was going to sleep. I don't know when they started the "pillow talk". 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/38717-the-view-week-of-021516/#findComment-1964754
ari333 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 (edited) Oh dear lord in heaven , I am only DVR 9 minutes in and already agreeing with... wait for it... WHOOPI? Kanye is a colossal ass imo. Im not a Swift fan bc she's not my bag, but Raven was cray on that point - defending that moron Kanye. I just cannot stand the man. Many folks have loved ones who die suddenly and have much more financial stress than he pretends to have, and they don't act like asshats and bullies. BAH. GACK. Bronzedog February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 Scalia was 79, overweight, with a history of heart problems. 10 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/38717-the-view-week-of-021516/#findComment-1964876
susieq147 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 For the life of me I simply do not understand how anyone can defend/like Kanye West. He rudely interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech way back in 2009 and he is the one who can't seem to let it go. I'm not a Taylor fan but what she said last night I wholeheartedly agree with. 9 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/38717-the-view-week-of-021516/#findComment-1964882
ari333 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 (edited) Holy crap. When someone murders someone with a pillow to the face in bed, don't they REMOVE the pillow from the face/ head after the person is dead? AM I over-thinking it? Not saying that that is what happened bc IDK, but if it did... Also, so Whoopi seemed very passionate about the Scalia death, why was she cackling when she introduced the topic of his death? It was odd "for me (for you)" [/Randy Jackson] Edited February 16, 2016 by ari333 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/38717-the-view-week-of-021516/#findComment-1964888

ari333 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 (edited) When Joy said, "color has something to do with it' then when Whoopi walked out she was AGREEING with Joy. It was a sarcastic walk out, as in, YES OF COURSE IT DID! DUH! Whoppi was agreeing. That's how I took it.
