Thank you for an excellent laugh. I didn't see this, but I can just picture it. I have visions of those head tilts dogs do when they're befuddled.

I watched a few minutes this morning. Someone (it might have been Joe) said that Trump was the odd-on favorite to win in 2020. Now, I was half-asleep, but I think that's what I heard. Did Joe (or whoever said it) back that claim up with any data?

I went through the DVR recording and sure enough, Joe said at 6 : 53 a.m. that Trump was the odds on favorite to win re election despite all the bad poll numbers on impeachment. Joe is upset that a majority of Americans believe Trump is racist etc. Joe is furious that Trump does breach constitutional norms on a regular basis.

Joe did not provide any support for this statement.

Joe alternates between "Trump is doomed in every state" & "Democrats are doomed for advocating MFA."

Meecham said that people want to burn down the entire system & are tired of having a Bush or Clinton in the White House.

Brokaw warned viewers that people he talks to out west & in the midwest don't support the Democrats impeachment Inquiry.

At this point, whenever I hear the phrase "Midwest" or "heartland" from a pundit, I translate it into "white people I occasionally talk to who don't live in California or the Boston Washington corridor."

It denies the voice of the diverse people on the coasts, who represent a majority of the population. I'd be money that the people who live in cities like Chicago, St. Louis or Memphis aren't included in that definition. And while they may occasionally talk to a farmer, I'd bet money they don't talk to the Hispanic labor force that makes the business run.

Brokaw said that people outside the Beltway care about the economy not Impeachment.

This is so condescending. The American people have always (rightfully) been concerned about their economic state. But you know what? That didn't stop us from kicking Nazi ass in WWII coming out of the Depression. It didn't stop us from winning the Cold War and African Americans fought for their Civil Rights despite the fact that there were cases when it harmed them economically.

Believe it or not, the unwashed masses can multitask!

The economy was in far worse shape and the US had gone through an embarrassing withdrawal from Viet Nam headed into the hearings on Nixon. Does that mean it was a bad idea?

(And, related to my rant above, the vast majority of the Beltway consists of a bunch of working class people who have never been invited to the fancy cocktail parties he attends.)

Joe said that his dad was a strong supporter of President Nixon. However, by the spring of 1974, he was mad at Nixon & said that if Nixon did half the things he was accused or, he should be impeached.

Joe was 11 at the time that Nixon resigned.

Morning Joe viewers are lucky that Joe remembers his dad's political views when he was 11.

Mika is solo today. Joe is off on "Dad Duty". Mika is speaking very quickly.

Mika agreed to come to the NY studio. Mika is complaining about Trump's tweets & his poor salesmanship of Trump steaks, books etc.

Mika was shocked about the high cost of MFA. It will cost trillions of dollars.

Michael Steele said it won't be easy to sell. It will cost taxpayers trillions of dollars.

Mika said that Biden would restore order.

Adrienne Ellrod agreed with Mika.

She's trying to squeeze in as many words as humanly possible, with Joe gone.   When he's there he won't let her get a word in edge-wise.   Which leads me to think that Meeks doesn't 'value' herself very highly, her KYV be damned.   She lets her husband bully and belittle her everyday on television.  ---   She's much more tolerable on her own.   At least there are no adoring Nancy Reagan gazes or girly giggling or exasperated sighs.

They always make up some dumb reason for Joe's days off.  He is never just off like a regular person.  It is probably because they got so much heat for broadcasting from their home for weeks at a time.

Well if she means kissing the ass of billionaire CEO's and bankers, then yeah they don't. But several of them have plans for small businesses.

Don't worry Steph you'll still get a seat on someone's private jet to Davos.

Karine Jean Pierre said that Trump is not expanding his base.

Steele is worried about everyone buying Trump merchandise. The Trump campaign will us e the data to get the people to vote for him.

Isn't it logical that someone who wants to buy Trump brand merchandise would probably vote for him ?

Karine was unhappy with Steele for refuting her talking point. Karine said Trump lost in 2017 & 2018.

Meek-a said "Joe has a LOT of children!".     He has five. (I think.  Maybe only four?)   In two separate batches.   It's not like he and a missus had five babies in a row and they're still toddlers and need 24/7 supervision.     My MIL had 8, within 9 years.   Now, that's a lot of children.   And BTW, having that many kids in that short a time did no-one any favors.

His kids with Susan are Jack, 11, and Katherine, 16. I hope dad duty is code for "sometimes Mika is specifically excluded from participating."

I say this because one morning on the show, while we knew about their affair but most of the world did not, Mika reached out and fondly rumpled Jack's hair while Susan looked like she was swallowing her tongue.

I actually thought today's show, with Joe on dad duty, was one of the more interesting I've seen them do in months. But they had a lot of poll data to analyze, which IMO makes for a better discussion than raving about the current White House occupant for 3 hours.

I thought some interesting points were made regarding the battleground states vs looking at national polling.

Corey Booker wants to control drug prices by negotiating with them.

Booker complained about the GOP spending Trillions on tax cuts for wealthy people.

Karine was excited about Booker having a good ground game in the early states for the Democratic nomination.

Booker said the impeachment process has to be done in a sober manner. No alcohol during the voting process.

Add that to the descriptions of her relationship with her parents, she has absolutely no idea how to interact with other human beings. What boundaries are, how to be gracious, when to shut the fuck up, etc.

I can guaran-fucking-tee you if I was having an affair with a male coworker, and his wife and child came in the office, I would make myself scarce.

Mika interviewed Mayor Pete who was in Iowa.

Mik said Warren's plan is like Trump's Mexico will pay for the wall.

Mayor Pete supports MFA who want it. It only costs 1.5 Trillion. People will keep their own private insurance.

Mika said that Mayor Pete has many friends on the Morning Joe panel.

Mika was repeating Biden's talking points about having the experience to do the job.

Pete said he has good judgement.

Mika reminded viewers to check out KYV.com everyday for tips on career advice etc.

Mika supported Karine's new book. It's about moving forward.

What about Mika and Joe's favorite, Joe Biden?  Also, Klobuchar isn't exactly lighting the nation on fire with progressive policies.

Barnicle said that people re worried about turning over healthcare to the government.

Because insurance companies do such a great job at health care?  The only thing the government would do is manage payments.  Doctors and hospitals provide health care.

2 hours ago, oakville said:

It already costs taxpayers trillions of dollars, only those dollars are going to insurance company profits, advertising, and insurance lobbyists instead of paying for actual health care.  They also never mention that taxes will go up but premiums and deductibles and co-pays and bullshit go away, so your costs go down.  It is also one of the most pro-business policies there is - not only will they not be responsible for paying a portion of the premiums, they won't have to have so much staff that manages the policies they offer to employees.  It will save them billions and trillions.  Small businesses should be jumping for joy at M4A, as should big ones.

I am so disappointed in these people, especially Stephanie Ruhle.  She is smart enough to know better even if the other ones aren't.  I guess it's too much to ask they have an honest discussion rather than one full of talking points that don't even apply.

The first thing that came to mind when they said Joe was off for "Dad Duty" was maybe he was going with one of his kids to look at colleges.  My sister in law just went to California recently with my nephew to look at colleges.  That's the only thing I could see talking several days off for if you have a child and it's not illness-related.  Especially given how much time Joe takes off in the middle of his own show on a daily basis.

Barnicle said that people re worried about turning over healthcare to the government.

Barnicle said that the UAW has good healthcare plans.

Whenever Joe, Mika or Barnicle talk about healthcare and insurance you can tell they have great insurance, good enough that they can take it for granted.

They don't have to worry about the growing price of copays. The don't have to worry that any hope for a raise will be wiped out by an increased employee health insurance contribution. And they certainly don't have to worry about being uninsured.

True.

Joe also said he spoke to one of his doctors who was worried about having a much higher patient load with MFA. They would be busy treating poorer patients & not be available to treat VIP's like Mika & Joe ASAP.

The show missed Joe's bellowing about polls this morning.

Hey, Barnicle, If I get two paychecks per month and $220 is deducted from each check that's $440 in monthly premiums. If my MFA tax is $440 per month then I am paying the same amount, yes? (Or perhaps less, who can say at this point).

The first option ensures a profit for the insurance company plus an obscene level of compensation for the company's executives. Oh, and it covers my health care IF my claims are approved.

The second option does not bankroll profits or obscene compensation and my claims will be approved.

I think I liked him better when he was making an honest living as a plagarist.

Even better, all that extra money that doesn't go to insurance profits can pay for more doctors and they can re-open the closed rural hospitals so no one has to go to Joe's.

Mika is in the studio with Willie, Mike Barnicle, Elyse, and Jonathan Lemire.  The top story is the rally where Rand Paul said the Ukraine whistleblower should be unveiled.  Jonathan says there are federal protections for whistleblowers.

Willie said the Republicans are attacking sources.  Mika said the whistleblower is moot.  Actually, moron, the whistleblower is key to the case.

The former ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanavitch, testified that she was threatened. Mika said that, with a father and brother who worked in foreign policy, this is chilling.  All roads lead back to Mika and her family!

Next, WaPo polls show that Biden, Warren and Mickey Mouse can beat Trump in 2020.  John Heileman says many Dems will not vote for someone who supports Medicare For All.  John specifically talked about Iowa voters.

Gaah! Barnicle did it again. He talked about the "Sons and daughters fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, not the coastal elites. . . "

Barnicle, you know what state has the most people enrolled in the military? The coastal elite, hippie dippie People's Republic of California.

It's really annoying how Mika highjacks interviews with female authors to promote KYV. It's also funny how they all clearly know more about gender issues than she does.

When looking at poll numbers and that kernel of hard support of 35% or so that Trump has no matter what he does, Eddie asks what that says about those people. That Trump didn't create them. Instead, he took advantage and expressed their racist, sexist values. He verbalizes and approves of those feelings they had already. And for some reason, at the end of Eddie's statement, Mika had to respond, "the same thing can be said about Democrats. What does that say about Democrats?" Huh? What same thing can be said? Her bothside-ism here makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. What point did she think she was making, other than the knee jerk, both sides?

On yesterday's show the polls were showing that Trump was ahead or tied in most of the battleground states. Today, the Washington Post polls show Trump losing by 15% to Elizabeth Warren.

That is a wide variance.

If Trump is re-elected, it will be in part because of the “Socialism” talking points from shows like MJ.  These people need to get out of their bubble and actually have someone on their show who can explain how insurance works for a majority of citizens.

Hey, Meeka! Barnicle!  Elise! I hope you are aware that your excellent coverage can be taken away at any time that your bosses, company, etc., decide it is too expensive or that you are expendable.  The latter from my fingers to God’s ears.
